Remini - AI Photo Enhancer Reviews

This is a first. You sign up for the thing. $5/month ($60/year if you’re counting). Then, in order to get the “”Enhance +”” feature (double quotes because this is so... tacky) you need to pay more money for each “”Pro Card””. It’s never made that clear until you start exploring Remini . Apparently the AI gives you several versions of the improved photo so you can pick one. $5 for 5 Pro Cards, $10 for 12, $25 for 30 and so forth. WAY too expansive for what it is. Flimsy browsing among my pictures. It defaults to a camera(??) every time, instead of my photo album. Why on earth would I fix a picture I am taking right now !!!)? I got on the subscription but it’ll be a one month thing. The promise is good, it somewhat delivers on that, but they’re crazy if they think the program is worth this much. To put the final nail in the coffin, the biggest drawback in my opinion is the fact that you’ll end up with a new version of the photo you’re “fixing”. There’s no using Remini from within Photos either. In addition to editing the photo, I need to re-add all the information about date and location again. Making this much money, they should probably invest in ways of making this happen.
Saving: did I mention that no matter how many times you click on a picture to save it to the camera roll, it’ll say it saved it, only to never show up anywhere?

Overall a darn good app. A couple of snags I’ve hit: Remini is not good at dealing with 3/4 views, or someone who is looking away from the camera. Remini seems to want to make eyes looking forward. Which is fine, except when the face is not looking forward. I got some pretty gruesome results and finally accepted that there would be some old photos that I would not be able to use here. There are many more I can, so it’s not the end of the world, but it’s sad to have to leave out some of your favorites because body or face positioning aren’t right. Also: my dudes. Not everyone is white. All the eyes are tinted a very pale blue or green and my Chinese grandpa has blondish hair! My dark-skinned, multiracial father does not have light eyes and never did - even when he was little 😄. These are black and white photos so the tinting should be able to be turned off if you don’t want it. In some cases it’s quite subtle and evocative. When dealing with nonwhite people, though, you cannot have the default eye color be light. There’s a difference between light eye color and putting in catch-lights to make the eye sparkle. Yes to catchlights! No to default light eyes.

I really like what Remini can do. However, I was having some issues with it after subscribing for 3 months, so I deleted Remini , reinstalled it, then tried to restore my purchase. It just says that there is a purchase already associated with my Apple ID. No kidding. That’s why I’m trying to restore. I tried this on my iPhone 12 and iPad mini 5, but it won’t let me restore. So basically, it looks like I’ll have to wait for the remainder of my subscription to run out before I can make it work again. What a scam.

Edit: this app was able to work through my issues. It all was related to signing in with Apple. Once we made my actual email address the account email, everything worked. Also, they have basically eliminated any crashing from before, scrolling is now ultra smooth, and the entire experience is now top notch.

This is the first product I have ever used that is actually 10,000 times better than advertised. I’m telling you, I was just about to buy the super expensive subscription with I stock photo and then I stumbled upon Remini, I’m sure because of algorithms, but this time they worked in my favor! Absolutely amazing. You can literally zoom all the way in to the picture on someone’s face and it is completely corrected. For some reason though, it doesn’t correct everything else around the face quite as well, but most of us just sent her on the face anyway, and I guess that’s what Remini does too. But trust me, it is 100% worth it. It really can clear up your face and it does do a little work for the background to but, what it does in general is almost scary.

Okay so the photo enhancer is AMAZING!!! So is the video enhancer. BUT, the video enhancer requires you to pay, which I understand, so I tried paying for a subscription. When on the subscription page, nothing will load, whether I’m on my WiFi, or my data (which both have pretty good range, so I know that’s not the issue here). Anyways, on the subscription page, it says “IAP not prepared. Click refresh” but when I do so, nothing happens (and I tried several times). I REALLY want to purchase a subscription simply for the video enhancement feature, but this issue is keeping me from doing so. If the developer could please simply reply to this and help me fix it, that would be very much appreciated, and my rating will be changed to a 5 star right away! But like I said, other than the issue I stated above, Remini is literally MINDBLOWING, and I am VERY eager to subscribe, so im really hoping you guys see this and reply soon!!🙏🏼 Thanks for reading!

Glad the recent reviews agree with me. The newest huge update isn’t great. Isn’t even good. Apologies because y’all seemed happy about it in the announcement but it’s no better at enhancing than it was, it takes even longer to load and I have to stay on Remini the ENTIRE time which is extremely annoying, there’s NO MORE HISTORY which was super helpful because it saved time, and for some reason even though I’ve paid the $5/month thing for about a year it’s saying I don’t have a subscription anymore and is giving me ads again (I’ve tried to “restore” and it says there’s nothing to restore). The only other thing I used was the add-color one and even that wasn’t great so it wasn’t used often. Enhance+ doesn’t make a difference either. Too often, the AI doesn’t even recognize a face when it’s RIGHT THERE and sometimes it detects a face WHERE THERE IS NO FACE (it also messes up the eyes and teeth a lot). I’m just super frustrated and I use Remini every day (not an exaggeration, because I’m an editor) so I need it back the way it was asap. Thanks.

Wow, how sad to see such a handy app turn into another copy paste cash scheme, I’ve honestly used Remini for a long time to enhance old family photos or to add realism to video game characters for fun, I had no problem watching the ads that they had back then because it was worth it honestly, I loved the layout of Remini . The option to color old photos and they even had a option to enhance videos! Being able to switch and add new accounts was a nice addition as well. All I can say is I’m really disappointed with where Remini is now, more ads that’s are 30 at least now, you can no longer enhance a 2nd time for free, they’re basically just trying to shove pro down our throats and for what? They took out all the other features that made Remini unique. I’m really let down and I’m hoping they’ll go back to the old version, but you know how these phone apps developers have become with all the micro transactions. 👎🏻

The new update is honestly very aggravating. It went from only needing to do 1 ad to 2 and the second ad for being allowed to save the photo. If you’re gonna put more ads, then give more credits or allow unlimited saves one. We still only are given 5 credits. Not cool! And on top of that, it sometimes changes the color of my skin which isn’t appreciated! It makes it lighter than what it is at times which I don’t understand. Was also disappointed that it does good with close up selfies/headshot photos but doesn’t come out so well with the same thing but that person being slightly farther back. Still pixelated or blurry. I thought that would’ve been something that y’all would’ve fixed… instead of putting more unnecessary ads. Anyways, besides that I do love Remini , I just think these issues need to be eliminated.

I don’t know how to convey the way I feel about Remini. I downloaded it last night and quickly realized I had to subscribe. My reason, I have been trying to get pictures of someone dear to me who passed close to twenty years ago and very recently I had my opportunity to do so. As you might expect what I got was grainy and blurred, some where even faded and torn. Not only did this clear most of that up but over enhanced pictures have made it possible to see what he would look like today. He would be mid-thirties. The animated feature gave me great comfort to see him candid like I remember. I know most users will not have an experience like mine but I suspect Remini will be a huge help in healing from his memory. Thank you so much for giving me this.

when i saw the ads i thought it was kinda a scam because i didn’t know how they could take a blurry picture and UNBLUR it. but i had a picture of my newborn daughter with her daddy in the hospital but it was so blurry because it was on portrait but it didn’t focus right cuz we were in a rush. so i tried some other app with a fox on it and it claimed to do the same thing but it didn’t come out much better at all. it’s seriously looked the same and i was so sad. but then i tried Remini and it made it incredibly clear and beautiful. you could see every detail! i have never written a review before so you know i must have really loved it if i took time between my crying newborn to write this

This is, without a doubt, an incredible example of the power of AI. On soft images and “old” photos, it magically brings details back to the faces in an image, and it’s darn near perfect… but…. It’s greatest strength is also it’s Achilles heel.
It obviously draws on a large database of images that it sorts through as reference to create detail that just doesn’t exist in an original image. Unfortunately, those details can sometimes make the person in the photo look like someone else.
The second downfall of this is that while it restores incredible detail to faces it does nothing for the rest of the image, which is at the least, a huge letdown, and at worst, it just makes the image look downright awkward.
4 stars for a mostly magical experience… minus 1 for those moments when the magic just doesn’t work.

I tried this twice so far…I had a picture my 3 year old nephew took while playing with my phone and if it wasn’t blurry it would have been an unbelievable picture. It cleared it up a lot…still blurry but better however I have a weird line across my forehead in the edited picture. Just don’t zoom in if you do zoom in on the picture it looks nothing like my face though and it also looks deformed. The second picture was another my nephew took while playing with my phone this time of his twin sister this cleared up the picture however her face looks like one of those china dolls. The picture now is blurry and her face looks like I photoshopped a creepy china doll and covered her face with it. She looks super creepy. Just a fyi I used the free version for both pictures. I’m a little disappointed I couldn’t improve the pictures more and better but I can’t expect miracles.

Remini can sure be fun, and it does typically, very good work. But when I tried to fix the cracks in a photo of my mom it kept failing. I even went and paid again to have it enhance plus a second time but it still won’t remove the cracks. Remini suggested I try to contact them using various social medias, which I did. They never ever ever replied.

Today I finally figured out after about 15 minutes how to cancel my subscription. But then it decided to not cancel it today, it informed me that it’s going to charge me for next month also and my account won’t be canceled until the end of August! Absolutely not!

After searching and searching I finally found their email address and sent them an email, well I tried to but it said the address is not valid. I want to cancel my subscription, as of today. Do not charge me for August! And I want that photo of my mom fixed that I paid for! This is not cool.

Remini clearly states that it works on videos yet when I load up Remini it only gives me “enhance” and “enhance+” as options. Assuming enhancing videos is a premium feature I subscribe for 1 month to test it out. After subscribing the only change is no ads but no other features are available. I try to contact their support email but have yet to receive a response. Having to then troubleshoot myself I try to download Remini on a second device but when I go to restore my subscription on the second device I get “unable to verify purchase receipt please repurchase”, okay maybe a subscription is only good for one device but I do not think that information is very clear, then to make it worse now when I open Remini on my original device it says I only have a free account and gives me the same message as my second device was giving, and of course no response from their support email.

I got Remini after seeing some impressive examples of facial animation based on still photos. If you don’t pay, you have to watch ads, also, you don’t get access to most of the better tools...fair enough, I thought. But when I was informed that non-paying users are restricted to a ‘quota’ of just five images per day, I uninstalled Remini .

Frankly, the facial animator works well some of the time; but it also capable of animating teeth, stretching noses Pinocchio-style & swelling jawlines to Neanderthal proportions - so you definitely need a few attempts to make things work better. This is not possible when you are cut off after 5 images.

Given what I managed to see in the restricted opportunities available, I decided not to pay $30 for a years subscription. Remini takes a lot of personal information from your device too - so, no thank you.

I use to love Remini, I was able to do amazing things and I wouldn’t have mined paying a little more to have the features I loved remain in tact. One of my favorite features was colorizing old photos. I was able to make the past come to life, even was able to animate faces of loved ones that have past. For the life of me, I don’t understand why they would have removed these features. I would be happy to change my review if they just listened to their customers and brought the old features back. I even tried the Pro version and it was exactly the same as the regular version, except I could use it on a PC. None of the old features were part of that version either. I’m very dissatisfied in fact, I was a paying customer and without warning they took away all the features I loved. Honestly this should be turned into the Bureau of Better Business.

Will this be deleted? Probably.

Only bots respond. An actual human needs to read and respond to this type of complaint. It cannot be, and is not, on your help page.

Very little professionalism, they do not respond to the very obvious complaints we are all having.

No more video option, double enhancing, cannot turn b&w pictures colored anymore, strips the photos of color and white washes everything, AI and software is simply just not as accurate. Even the actual quality of the photo is way less impressive than the quality it had just months ago, prior to the update.

Extremely disappointing that I’ve spent so much money on an app that cannot even bother to ACTUALLY respond to the flow of dissatisfied customers on your recent “update” (downgrade).

Very poor customer service, no care for the feedback of 90% of us. Not how you run a business/service. Will most likely be cancelling my subscription, like many are. I see that’s not working though. Regardless, I paid for a service and tools I did not receive, and instead was returned with a downgraded app and 0 communication.

Many of us use Remini for passed loved ones. Dissatisfied would be an understatement.

its great . I LOVE IT . i just dont like that they distort faces sometimes and mess up their features, creating a whole different person. however, i would assume that is just because Remini is run by ai, so we can’t expect it to do very well all the time. HOWEVER. it does exceptionally well on photos like art, and makes it much more clearer, which i appreciate a lot! i havent used any other features so there arent any comments i wish to make about it, except for maybe the videos? i wish you didnt need to do much more extra for it, and could just.. use the features, yknow? so people wont get frustrated with your app regarding all the ads and the need to buy memberships for extra features or enhancements... other than that, it’s pretty good !!

This editing application is extremely effective, and you can see noticeable and significant changes with the final product. I have no issues with that aspect of Remini . However, I do have a number of problems with some of the execution. For instance, after un-blurring a small amount of photos, you are forced to wait six hours just to edit another. A way to rope irritated customers to purchasing Pro, not to mention that the wait time is unreasonable. And the amount of ads are overkill, not to mention painfully repetitive. Another attempted persuasion to make an in-game purchase to escape all the balderdash. All in all, I give Remini a three-star total review due to the money-hungry aspects and limited time. If the developers put how Remini downloaders feel into consideration, this review would be, without a doubt, 5/5.

This is the most beautifully designed app that contains everything you need to perfect any photo. I was able to take screenshots of photo someone took with their phone of a very old yearbook page that contained an old blurry black and white photo of my recently passed grandfather.

Thanks to Remini, this holiday season I can gift my grandmother with a full color HIGH RESOLUTION photo of my grandfather the age he was when they met. It’s not even realistic - it’s completely and totally REAL. As if my grandfather were 17 again and taking selfie’s on a brand new iPhone 12 pro max.

It just doesn’t get any better than this. Thanks guys. You’re software is a blessing. You have no idea.

When I first downloaded Remini I was given three edits a day, within a couple weeks I then had to watch an ad every time I wanted to edit a photo, and now they have added a fake waiting period of two hours plus an advertisement in order to edit a photo which is absolutely ridiculous. They are trying to make Remini unusable to those who don’t pay and I am livid. I was fine with the limit and fine with the ads, but a fake waiting period of two hours due to a “queue” that I can buy my way out of is embarrassingly ridiculous for this app to instate.

Love Remini it’s great. It’s just it doesn’t give me credits anymore (I’m not sure if it’s supposed) it used to give me 3 credits every other day. Now it’s making me wait 190 hours for a photo to be done.

this app has apparently added ads to the subscribed customers. Worse is that the ads put the close out x at the top left of the screen and it clearly isn’t response to the iPhone X or higher. I can’t close the add no matter how many times I tap on the x. Unsubscribing and deleting Remini . Tried to bypass the ad multiple times.

The editing it does to a photo is AMAZING. But the wait time is ridiculous. I pay $5 a month... if I’m paying continuously there’s no reason I should have a wait time of 231 hours for one single photo. Absolutely insane. On top of this there’s so many other problems with Remini . I subscribed and it will tell me that I ran out of credits... I pay for UNLIMITED CREDITS!!! I’ve never seen an editing app work this badly.

I love Remini so much but after the update Remini keeps freezing. Can you please fix it?

What an amazing app i put my old photos when i was a kid it was blurred but Remini made them hd

at first when i got it, i was able to have 5 credits a day. but now i have to pay for them to accually work. i want the old this app back!

Remini used to be tolerable. since the new update I have to wait DAYS for my photo to be finished processing. says I have like 100 hours to wait until it’s finished. older version wasn’t great, but it was way better than this.

app provides great results but it takes a long time to load. anyway you guys can fix that?

why is there such a thing as daily credits if once i use all three of them there are never anymore credits to use unless i watch an ad

Had to change my review in one day. Says there’s an update but won’t let me update it. I even uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it still said update available but when I click on it , it brings me to a page with no download link. It worked good on a few photo and then it was only picking up one face out of THREE! You need to have an option to click on multiple faces of Remini isn’t picking up on them and they were pretty obvious too. I will keep Remini for a week and see if they fix things.

Is it just me or the new update won’t always let you enhance certain photos...? For example, I took two different photos today at different times and for odd some reason this app wouldn’t let me edit them? Am I missing something or what? It’s getting frustrating because I’m paying for Remini monthly. This has been happening for about a week now, if they don’t fix it I will have to unsubscribe. No point in paying for something that’s not even letting me enhance all of my photos.

First off tbe fact that they give 3 free enhancements a day is amazing. I’m sold!! I enhanced 6 photos beautifully in 2 daya and I couldn’t wait til tomorrow to do more so I’ve gone ahead and subscribed. The fuzzy photos of my great-grandparents and my grandparents have come to life. My whole family is wowed! What Remini has done with just 6 photos means more to us than money can buy. I will be enhancing the photos of my grandpa in the army in WWII 1945 next!

Wow, this is amazing . I’ve had some photos that didn’t turn out good, but the memory was too good to delete. I had photos that were fuzzy. I used this and the photos look perfect. Plus they give you 3 for free a day. I’m gonna try it out a little longer. If it continues to impress I’m getting the pro version. I had my mom and sister download it by showing them the comparison of the photos. I’ve never seen another app like this. 👏🏻 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
