Very Difficult Company to Work With

I have a car loan through Hughes and have regretted it since day one. It is so difficult to make payments (you have to use a different site and I get charged $5 every time). Their website and app (even this new one) are not user friendly. It takes me forever to figure it out each time I use it. I just went to the pay my loan menu option and it’s taking me back to the main screen. I hate to say it but I think they need to invest in better web/app designers.

The ability to tag transactions has been removed

If I could've rated this zero, I would have.
I make extensive use of the tagging function to identify transactions that are tax deductible etc.
That functionality has been removed from the new app and now I must identify each transaction manually rather than grouping by tagging.

App is not compatible with my iOS

I downloaded and it says the application does not support rooted or jailbroken phones. My phone is not jail broken and when I research the issue on Apple it shows the developer of HughesFCUDigitalBanking needs to update to be compatible with the most current iOS update. This is very frustrating since I now cannot view or do any banking or money transfers online

Terrible design for iPad.

HughesFCUDigitalBanking is not designed for the iPad, it’s designed for the iPhone. End users are stuck with a very small screen which is hard to read. Please go back to old app. Was HughesFCUDigitalBanking even reviewed before it was released? Poor judgment in application release. Disappointed customer.

Not a fan

After receiving a barrage of emails and texts telling me to download HughesFCUDigitalBanking , I finally did. I am not a big fan of mobile apps in general, I much prefer to use webpages. I do most of my banking on an iPad and HughesFCUDigitalBanking, like most, only appears to display in portrait. I will continue to use the webpage.

Wow

I’m so glad they updated HughesFCUDigitalBanking to make it an absolute dumpster fire. I loved the old app but since switching over I’ve had nothing but issues. The usability has taken an absolute nose dive, and if it wasn’t for the great customer service from HFCU I would consider switching banks.

Even worse than the last upgrade.

I will have to use reading glasses and a microscope now. There is no full screen. On my iPad, it looks like the screen of a phone. It doesn’t fill the screen on my iPad.

Horrible layout

The layout is awful, and HughesFCUDigitalBanking is slow. I dont understand why the same layout from the old app wasn’t utilized. Please, please change your app back I beg of you, it is miserable to use now.

Why?!

Why would you switch from an app that worked great and was more user friendly than this new app? Sadly this is just another reason for me to look for another credit union. Hughes keeps giving me reasons to switch. After many years of using Hughes I’ve already joined an out of state credit union (out of state and it’s so much better from their customer service to their app). So now i just need to find another local CU for my in person business use. Do better Hughes.

Horrible interface

Looks so much worse. Harder to use. Slower. Highly suggest they switch back. Was confused when I first opened the new app I genuinely thought there was some sort of mistake or I was on the outdated app because it looked so bad.

Horrible Quality

App runs extremely slow and doesn't let you make loan payments with debit card. Very finicky and has way less effort put in to it than last version. Adaptability, quality, control of account, and ability to make payments all need fixed ASAP or it will affect people's ability to pay their loans.

Can’t get to my money! Often not working

Another classic example of being in a rush to put out a new product before it is ready. Why do companies decide on a date they are releasing something and then scramble to hope it is ready. It usually never is. Then they try to fix it as they go along. Meanwhile the customers they are supposed to be serving are inconvenienced and don’t have access (in this case)to their money! Create your product and test it and debug it and get it working right THEN release it! Come on Hughes, learn from other companies mistakes. Don’t make the same ones. You really should be smarter than this.

1.5 Star rating kinda says it all

This is a terrible “upgrade”. The sign in process makes you go through the entire process over and over again. You aren’t able to “hide” accounts from view like the old app allowed. It is SO MUCH SLOWER than the old app if that is possible. Like the other comment, I am considering moving my $ to a new credit union. You guys need to make improvements all around. You aren’t being competitive. ~Member since 1994

Awful Awful Awful!!!

Did I mention how awful the new Hughes FCU app is!!! They took a major step backward with this new version of their app. The old I thought was OK and the interface not too bad. The new app?? It is flat out terrible. The user interface is quite bad, especially when using it on an iPad. Gonna give some serious thought about our future with HFCU. They should revert to their old app or make MAJOR changes in the new one, and do it ASAP. Good grief!!

I miss the old app

The old app was so nice, this new one we had to switch over has been a huge downgrade. I normally don’t write reviews, but loading time is so slow, I’ve decided to write this review while waiting.

It almost seems like the designer of the old app quit and is on revenge by discontinuing the old one, that’s how much of a downgrade it is.

I used to rave about hughes baking app and highly recommend it because of how easy it was to track expenses, budgets, move money etc.. Now, none of that is true, i can’t even log in with ease :(

I hope they can realize what they’ve done and let us go back to using the old app.

After a few months…

I tried just getting used to it after the initial jolt of having to change apps, but this is just terrible. HFCU can hide behind “in the name of security” all it wants, but it’s 2024 and most folks know that doesn’t mean having to cut corners to produce a bad product. This kind of decision making makes me insecure of where I store my funds.

Awful

This is honestly awful. It barely works. Constant lagging, never remembers my sign in info or Face ID - no matter how many times I’ve set it up. HughesFCUDigitalBanking is just such a pain, and so frustrating. Even Zelle seems to work worse on this new app, which I didn’t think was possible. Please just bring the old app back, or completely overhaul this one.

Why does this have to be so difficult??

Have my auto loan through HFCU and this is pure torture. Even with the old system, I had to call to figure out how to make payments to my loan account and with the new system having wiped out my info, I had to call again to get assistance with making a payment. Other credit unions I’ve had accounts with have NEVER been this difficult. Whoever made the decision to invest in this new program totally wasted money and resources(t&d) on this “update”

Do Not Bank Here.

This horrible app change just punctuates my decision in changing banks soon. I have no idea how they made the previously terrible app even worse. From auto loans to the Zelle system never working, long transfer times and an already bad mobile app they somehow managed to make it even worse by releasing this horrendous version of HughesFCUDigitalBanking . If you just started using Hughes, don’t continue. The only reason I’ve used Hughes is because it’s in a convenient location, I do not take a lot to be pleased but they can not even meet the bare minimum in any category in terms of a well operating bank. HughesFCUDigitalBanking downgrade sums up my Hughes experience thus far as a whole.

Finally Forced to Switch over due to April 17th deadline

At the title states I had no choice but to go use the new app. Not iPhone friendly in my case. Pages take forever to load/navigate to, don’t display properly either. Some stuff isn’t even centered properly. It took me all of 2 minutes to be turned off by HughesFCUDigitalBanking . Not to mention losing multiple features. Why even release it or force it on to your customers if it wasn’t ready? Was this even beta tested? It totally feels like whoever was hired to do UI/UX for this wasn’t prepared or experienced enough. Probably AI generated the coding for it too I bet, since shortcutting seems to be the way for programmers now. Y’all hurt your customers and your rep. Fix it.

Awful awful AVOID HUGHES

Unable to access my account on desktop or cell, unable to set up payments and in the meantime bring chased and negatively impacted for bills I don’t have access to pay. Then being told I have to pay for the luxury of setting up a new account … the absurdity and complete lack of any responsibility or customer service. SHOCKING.

The new app is no better than the old

There were a number of bugs from the old app that are still not fixed.

Logging in with saved password doesn’t work, neither does typing I manually. Only with the pwd typed into notes as text, copying and pasting can I log in.

Transfer from savings or high yield into checking account doesn’t work, just produces an unintelligible error message.

In the short period I have used the new app I have encountered several more bugs but don’t get me started.

Why doesn’t HFCU use a real app designer to create a useful tool? This in-house monstrosity is a pain to use and doesn’t give confidence that money and security are in good hands.

HughesFCUDigitalBanking is absolutely horrible when compared to the old app when using an iPad. It’s way too small to be of any use. And I cannot download the old app on a different iPad.

Ever hear???

Ever hear of, “if it’s not broken, don’t fix it?” Thanks for destroying a good app… all you had to do was update the old one more often for security reasons, not make a new one that’s worse.

Worst App Ever

This is the most useless app I have ever tried to use. 1 star is way more than HughesFCUDigitalBanking deserves.

A genuine downgrade

It’s honestly a shame that the old application has been discontinued. It seems the new application is a poor attempt at making the application similar to the main banking website (from the way it acts, it may be a poor attempt to kludge the website codebase into a mobile app).

In return, we get a bloated, less responsive interface with less intuitive navigation. The previous application was made for mobile; this one barely works on a mobile platform. Even lost nice features like dark mode and the net worth tracker.

I know it seems petty, but I might be genuinely considering switching where I bank. If this application is in anyway indicative how Hughes operates, I don’t know if feel confident sticking with them.

Need an option to save my debit card

HughesFCUDigitalBanking is absolute garbage. Also, I have a car loan with them and every time it comes to me paying for my monthly payment through them I have to whip out my debit card and enter it in to the system to pay the loan & go through the log in screen each time. It doesn’t save my credentials either which is annoying to no end. I absolutely regret refinancing my car loan through these guys. I should’ve kept my old car loan with car max. I didn’t really save much a month anyway. At least with their system it saved my credentials.

It’s an iPhone app NOT an iPad app

Need I say more. I’m very, very disappointed. I know HFCU can do better. Please fix this problem.

The new app is a downgrade from the old app. Looks and functions horribly (apple user). Please reconsider the move.

HughesFCUDigitalBanking removed the biometric login and on the iPad it looks like a small phone and it is very hard to read

Loan payments

Making loan payments for my car on the new app is completely disastrous at this point. I live in Texas and it’s not just as simple as driving over and making a payment. I literally have to pull teeth just to make a payment now on the new app. It’s lost features from the last app.

Also open to myhub would be nice too. HughesFCUDigitalBanking is great on the phone, but not on the iPad. I will keep using old app until I visibility issues are fixed on iPad.

Glitchy

HughesFCUDigitalBanking is way slow and too “GLITCHY”. I’m using HughesFCUDigitalBanking because the old one is being discontinued UGH! I do all my banking with the Hughes FCU app as I’m disabled so, I really rely on it. Again, if it wasn’t broken, why are you fixing it?! HughesFCUDigitalBanking behaves like apps did when they were first being developed. I could go on for hours….FIX IT!!

App is not Apple Friendly

HughesFCUDigitalBanking does not work well with Apple products. The new version on an iPad is like an app that’s from 20 years ago. It has a little window and has to be used in a portrait mode.

Did Hughes actually get user input to make updates and improvements?

Hughes App has never been intuitive…

I was very leery about the new app after reading the reviews, but I figured that it could not be much worse than the old one. Yes, it is slower, hopefully the tech team will be able to work on that, but it seems to have the same features as the old app. Though it takes some reorientation as to where the programmers put the features. I agree that making payments on loans and credit cards SHOULD be an option on HughesFCUDigitalBanking , however, I worked around the issue by setting up recurring transfers from my checking account to either my credit card or loan. I had to do this on the old app also, as I mentioned the old app was not intuitive either. Someone else mentioned that they are disabled and thus rely on HughesFCUDigitalBanking , I can relate as I am in the same boat. Hopefully my review will make others aware of the work around that I discovered.
It IS irritating that companies are constantly changing their apps, for what seems like no reason, but I do take into consideration that some upgrades are necessary to ensure that everything is secure.
NOTE TO THE PROGRAMMERS OUT THERE:
Please know that when you upgrade your apps, software, webpages, etc. make sure that your interfaces work properly before launching and it would be nice if you put things in the same place as the previous version. As a consumer we don’t want or need things to look different, we just want them to WORK properly.

Was incredibly cautious downloading HughesFCUDigitalBanking after reading the reviews. I mostly just wanted the alerts to come through HughesFCUDigitalBanking so I could filter them from my general email notifications while I’m on Do Not Disturb.

All of the features from the online website, particularly the ones for auto loans all work. So … 🤷🏼‍♂️

Got Zelle now! & Card locking

Honestly not bad, I dont know why everyone giving a bad review, you can also lock your card now if it goes missing which is good 👍

I don’t think it’s that bad…

but I don’t have an iPad, I’m just using it on my iPhone. I’m on the latest iOS. Seems faster than the old app. It doesn’t have all the info the old one had on the home screen but I’m sure they’re working on it and I’m not that bothered. What bothered me was all these one star reviews. Maybe HughesFCUDigitalBanking is truly horrific to use on the iPad, but I can’t comment on that.
