malfunctioning App from the get go

I downloaded UFCU and cannot even enroll my account to be able to login to UFCU . First, the enrollment process asks for waiting to receive an email with a “temporary password”. That email arrived about 15 minutes later by the time UFCU told me that my access expired. What?! So, I restart the enrollment in order to be able to login to UFCU and then I get an error message saying “Invalid Temporary Password. Please try again later or contact us for help”. What a waste of time! If I’m having problems with just enrolling into using UFCU then I can only imagine what a mess will await while I’m inside of UFCU . this app really? I agree this new App is a step backward.
When I called your customer support and I commented that I’m afraid to even try to download the “new” App, since it already has over three hundred sixty 1 star reviews...that’s when this app customer support person commented that all those negative reviews aren’t representative of how great this new app is. I responded to her that I’m looking forward to experiencing this great, new App...and here we are...I’m unable to even enroll into using UFCU , I have tomorrow waste more time and call this app’s tech support.
I wish this app would listen to and hear the feedback it’s receiving. The old app was very outdated but the screenshots of the new App definitely look like this app regressed in regards of UFCU for their banking clients.

Available balance is so small!!!!

I’m extremely frustrated with this apps appearance. I was so comfortable with the last app so the change wasn’t super understood. I recently overdrew my account, but that’s not normal for me. In the old app, I saw the balance that was AVAILABLE to me in large numbers. Then I could look at the transactions and see everything pending.
In UFCU, the larger number is the balance that existed(?), and the available balance is written under it.
I wouldn’t have overdrawn the account if I knew this, if I had some kind of tutorial for the new app!!!!!!!!! I was expecting it to just be a different version of the old one. I didn’t expect the format of UFCU to change. My account being charged fees for overdrawing was extremely stressful, and I’m happy I finally figured out why it happened.

I think that UFCU should explain to users that it isn’t like the old app, and you have to look at the smaller number to know what your available balance is. I know it seems like a simple thing, but a lot of stress and confusion could’ve been avoided if I had some kind of explanation before things went wrong!

More options for alerts

I don’t typically write reviews but I felt compelled for UFCU since this is our main banking app. I really didn’t like that the you weren’t able to set up alerts with the old version and was excited to see that available on this new rollout. However, the categories for the alerts on the new rollout don’t even make sense. I’d like to see just a general alert when something has been debited from the main account. You can only choose a specific amount for an alert, which seems odd to me. Additionally, you only have the option to get an email alert. Every other baking app lets you set up text alerts, which makes way more sense. This new version seemed like we went backwards, not forwards.

Too Basic!

I blocked my card to avoid unwanted charges/transactions and now it won’t give me the option to unblock the card. What is the purpose of a CardKeeper option if I do not have the ability to block it unblock it when I want to? I bank with CHIME which isn’t technically a bank and I’m able to block and unblock my card as many times as I want without any issues EVER! This is truly an inconvenience! Now I’m out of gas and can’t get any because the transaction won’t go through nor will the ATM allow me to take money out. It’s 2022! Your app developers should be ashamed of UFCU with it’s super basic functionalities that partly work. On top of that the fraud department doesn’t have the ability to trouble shoot this or unblock the card. Well why not???? Isn’t this feature to prevent fraud. It would make sense for them to have access as they are available 24/7. I shouldn’t have to wait until the next business hours to be able to access MY MONEY!!! 😤

This is why I barely use this account and will probably chose to close it soon!

Awful!!!

I thought upgraded apps are supposed to actually mean UPGRADES? UFCU is awful! First, there was no notice about having to download a new app to access and make a mobile deposit. I kept trying to log into the old one, and it would open but not allow you to do anything. Then I looked to see if there was another app. this app, did you ever think it would be important to communicate to your customers that they would need to access a new app? That’s good customer service.
Secondly, the old app would send me an email within a few minutes confirming my mobile deposit was received and is being processed as well as automatically show in my recent transactions, even during non-business hours. With this new app, it doesn’t do any of that. There’s no way to even know for sure the deposit was submitted. I guess I have to wait until the next banking day to confirm. What a terribly designed app. Time to go back to the old one or the drawing board.

New App Is Great

I was a bit tee-d off that the original app stopped working out of nowhere with no notice. But after finding the release of this new app I’m absolutely impressed. While I personally don’t agree with some of the design aspects/aesthetics especially the color scheme of UFCU , it is overall functional. I’d also like to point out that UFCU reduced long loading screens and is at the very least 50% more responsive than the previous app.

I’d also HIGHLY RECOMMEND turning on ‘Express View’ in the settings once you login. Express View gives you a glance at all of your accounts without the need to wait to login and tap through pages to see your accounts. Absolute game changer!!

Not too bad

It’s is a very different layout then the other app. This one appearance is more business and the other one to me is simple. Don’t get me wrong it does the same thing, just with a twist. With this new update I like when you go to transfer and when you put the amount you can still see the balance in the account. Where the other app it took you to a new page. Another plus is being able to see the account and routing number. Only thing not a big fan about this view of the balance. When you 1st look at it just seeing what availability balances it I wanted to know that other stuff I could open up the summary page. And the new not logging in feature ummm not to sure yet but it’s a nice add on for sue.

It’s really isn’t that bad...

The new app seems a bit boring, if you ask me. The old one didn’t have all the bells and whistles either, but it worked. It would’ve been better if you just kept what you had and made updates to it, but I’m not a developer in any sense, so maybe starting fresh was the best way to go for them.

When I enrolled, it took forever for me to get my temp pass. After waiting, I tried again and it sent me both at the same time (of course). Once I was in, it was fine. I don't particularly like the flow of this new one, but I’ll get used to it like everything else that changes.

Also, to those who said you didn’t get notified, I sure did. Both email and the website.

NEW mobile App for UFCU

First off, I don’t Yelp! & this is the first negative online review I’ve ever written regarding any dissatisfaction I’ve had with any businesses. I’ve been with this app forever & I used their (old) app for all of my simple banking needs ever since I got my first smartphone. Well, for WAY TOO LONG NOW, I’ve had to drive to the ATM about 4 miles from my house for even something as simple as a balance inquiry. Every time I TRY to go through the maze of bull$h!t that is required to use their stupid & AWFUL new app, I give up out of frustration within 10 minutes. THIS IS HOW YOU LOSE LOYAL CUSTOMERS & start that ball rolling downhill. The big chain banks look a little more appealing with each failed attempt I have at using the new app. I give it another month before I take my business elsewhere if they don’t bring back the old app, which is the general consensus of EVERYONE I’ve talked with this about.

Terrible app.

UFCU continues to bug out and unenroll you from it even after you have set it up. I’ve had to now do it 4 times. You enroll and set up mobile banking (which you already had from the last app they had but whatever) and set up a new password, then UFCU works fine for a day or so, then it will log you out (even when clicked remember me/quick balances) and when you try to log back in it will say “you have to enroll in mobile banking” so then you have to go through the whole process again of enrolling and setting yet another new password for it, then are able to use UFCU for a day or so before it breaks again. Rinse and repeat. It’s getting so frustrating I’m considering switching institutions. I shouldn’t have to register every time I need to transfer money or view my balance.

UFCU simply can’t seem to figure out mobile banking

Since I’ve had a this app account I’ve been disappointed with the bush league effort they’ve put toward their online and mobile products. For years I switched to a large banking institution (rhymes with ‘hells largo’) bc of continued frustrations with outdated and glitchy tech from this app. Wanting to support my credit union I moved my banking functions to this app but continue to be unpleasantly surprised by their software. How can virtually all other banking institutions get this right, but not the one I actually want to support? The process for setting up UFCU should require a match to my online credentials, a two factor authorization, and that’s it. Why I have to “enroll” in using UFCU as though this is some kind of future tech or completely separate banking service is beyond me. this app seems perpetually behind the curve in this respect.

Bring the old app back and simply make updates

I don’t usually leave reviews on anything but I feel very strongly about this new app. First of all it caught me by surprise and when I downloaded it it didn’t accept the same log in information. Second, the visual are glitched and cut off which take away from easy navigation. Lastly, there are functions not available in UFCU that were available in the last one. For example, I cannot see my statement balance on my credit card and instead of choosing to pay my card I have to transfer funds which had me confused at first on whether or not I was actually paying my card. I much rather prefer the old app and I thought it had great functionalities and was more aesthetically pleasing. If you could please go back or fix all the issues with the new one.

The old was way better

I really liked the old app, this new one is not the best quality, when doing mobile deposit when the photo is taken of the back of the check you can’t read it, it comes out all black and scratchy and digital like, the old app would use the actual photo. So most of my deposits now have to go for review because it says cant read this or that when it’s very clear in the photos. My Face ID isn’t working any longer, And there is no place for me inside UFCU to turn it on. I’ve tried for an update, but there isn’t one, and I’ve tried in UFCU , nothing. I guess the lesson here is if it’s not broke don’t fix it

Couldn’t be worse.

No notice that I needed a new app. Kept trying to log in to the old one and kept crashing. No notices, nothing on your website, no emails, saying what was going on. Finally I figured out that there was a new app. Won’t let me log in. By looking at your terrible reviews, I found out I needed to re-enroll. Again, no notices, nothing on your website, no emails, with instructions. Again, found out from other angry customers reviews. Tried to re-enrolled, I get a message that it is unavailable for maintenance. Once again, no notice, nothing on your..... Do we see a pattern? Terrible app. Worse than terrible customer service. Needed to make a deposit tonight and now I’ll be late with payments. Are you going to take care of that?

Poor quality UI

This is got to be the worst front-end interface I’ve ever seen. Did y’all contract it out? You should try and get the money back.

Any consulting engineer would tell you that this UI would get terrible feedback from customers because it doesn’t look or feel secure.

Some issues I found enrolling:
- If I tapped the top of my screen (I missed the “next” button) the window would close and I had to start the entire process over again.
- You have terrible issues with readability. When UFCU generates the account quick view (I guess table?) it’s hard to read even for me. This will make people take their business elsewhere.

Also, how did y’all not think that ending app support out of the blue wouldn’t cause a complete PR nightmare? How do you expect users to trust you now? I think I remember getting one email weeks ago...*not good enough*...as any human factors engineer would tell you.

In terms of a deliverable response to this review, instead of a generic PR response, please give your Members a timeframe as to when you plan on updating the UI and front end to be in-line with industry standards. Thank you.

Much better App

The new app may not look as appealing as other apps but it is an upgrade. After re-enrolling which helped keeping my account more secure I can see the benefits. The card keeper option is great to put Travel notes if I got out of town instead of calling the Contact Center or going to a branch. Also if I misplace my card I can lock it for peace of mind. My information wasn’t updated in my account so I didn’t get the information about the new app launch. I’m happy I have it now & thanks this app for getting UFCU.

It’s not that bad

After reading the other reviews about the many who dislike UFCU, my experience has been pretty good so far. While it may be a different layout than the old app, it isn’t that hard to navigate at all, and feels smoother to use versus the old app. It feels more “modernized”, and still gives me all of the information the old app had available. My only complaint is it is still kind of bland and boring looking, but overall I really like UFCU , and this is coming from someone who used the old one for years.

Can’t even get to a login screen anymore

While UFCU isn’t great, at least I could see basic information and usually worked ok for mobile deposits.

However, for the last several weeks when I open UFCU I get a “data network busy, retry” message EVERY SINGLE TIME. Close UFCU , toggle wireless off as I have it set to run with cellular, turn the phone on and off, and so forth, nothing. Have to login to the desktop version.

Seriously this app, the complaints about the poor functionality of UFCU have been going on since the beginning. You are based in a major tech capital. Get it together!

Why is the whole thing so bad

I came here specifically to say how bad UFCU is. I love this app as a bank, but they really need to hire a team to fix UFCU. It’s really bad.

Everything from the choppy pages, to the tiny balance amounts, to the eMailbox page where you can’t type past the keyboard because there’s no option to scroll; it’s all terrible.

And on top of that it says to allow 2 business days for a response when you email them? I won’t get started on how pixelated everything is too. I think every banking app in UFCU Store is more competent than this one unfortunately. It’s just disappointing that it’s 2021 and this app thinks we can use something this archaic and they get to call it a “feature”.

By

Who do you use to make your apps?

Seriously, who do you employ to create your apps, because you’re a bank- you literally have money to pay professionals to do this, rather than using your nephew’s freshmen high school programming class. Seriously, contact me, and I promise I will make you all a better app- and I promise you can pay me way less than whatever company scammed you into using their services. Great bank. Terrible website and terrible apps.

Returning to update: your app continues to be garbage… why do you have a function that says “save id” if I have to sign on everytime to use your app. It wants me to confirm Face ID everytime. It literally is TRASH.

I’m considering goin with another bank- this is ridiculous.

Missed the #1 issue

The ability to do my banking by mobile means is paramount to my personal and business activities. The former this app app got me by but its central downfall was that I could only access one account with it so I could either see my business or my personal account but not both.

While this new app brings some nice updates like auto fill of a mobile deposit amount, I can still only access one account. I kept the old app for my business account and use this new one for my personal account. I guess if I ever get more accounts like for the kids that I’ll just be stuck with using the laptop to care for those accounts. Not being able to access multiple accounts is a killjoy.

Disappointed.

Horrible rollout. I should’ve been notified about the new app, and the abandonment of the old one. I got nothing. No call, text, email, nothing. Do y’all think that’s the level of communication your customers deserve? I’m currently ATTEMPTING to enroll. Y’all have this process so jacked up, that I get my temporary password sent to my email HOURS after I’ve made the attempt, only to find that the password you’ve sent is (and has been) expired! Idiots! You had a great app, then abandoned it with NO NOTICE TO YOUR CUSTOMERS, and replaced it with this garbage app. I only wish I could give UFCU (along with your horrible choices) ZERO stars. Y’all can contact me at:1(800) GET-BENT.

Useless

UFCU and the one that came before it have been plagued with issues from a complete lack of features to bugs and errors. Went to sign in using apples face scan and it said I had to login to use it. Attempt to login, password was wrong, tried another password thinking I may have used the wrong one, nothing. Pressed the “forgot password” button and got a dialog box titled “Error” followed by “Page Error”. Pressed the “Forgot Login ID” and was greeted by another dialogue box titled “Error” followed by thr statement “This function is currently unavailable due to maintenance, please try again later.” What gives?!

By

Enrolling problem

I have used the former app but found it did not work so I downloaded the new one.

I could not use my existing password so I enrolled again. Your instructions need to be clear that if you are upgrading to the new app you need to enroll.

The server did not send me a temp password. Had to call this app for help. They couldn’t figure it out. I had already checked spam. They advised to delete app and download. I did. Went thru all the steps again. Still did not get temp password.

The problem turned out to be that it took 20 min or more to get the temp password. This was not during the time that maintenance was being performed. But it made me think UFCU didn’t work.

You need better instructions on UFCU and also improve server response time.

If it ain't broke, don't make it worse

The old app was not the greatest, but it worked. In theory, UFCU has a few more features, but it comes at the expense of the user interface. UFCU looks like it was built by an Intro to CS student in 2012. This horrible design makes using UFCU nearly impossible, as you're constantly afraid it's going to crash like apps did back in 2012.

Go ahead and give UFCU a try for yourself. But after 2 minutes of use, you'll realize that it's not worth the now *precious* space on your home screen.

I’m ambivalent

I have mixed feelings about this new app. It is a little harsh to look at color-wise (I really liked the other app’s colors!!) and I miss the little incoming/outgoing graph but I really do like the quick view of the balances without logging in and the running balance-showing the balance after each entry.
I haven’t used any of the new features yet, but I am hopeful!

By

So far..

So good! Just installed today. The last one just died a month ago. No real fix, but this one is a complete overhaul. You need to sign up all over again and can use your same usr/pswrd. But it seems to be solid, quick responses. I like the quick view before you even log in. Nice touch.

By

TERRIBLE!!!

I had no idea why my old app wouldn’t work, so I finally just deleted the old one to reinstall it. This is when I realized there was a new app.

Like others, I did not realize I needed to re-enroll in mobile banking after putting in my password many times and being told it was the wrong password.

Then I waited for an email to be sent, which still hasn’t arrived. This is ridiculous and unacceptable. I’ve been with this app for more than 25 years, and you should not have rolled out a new app without informing members or without testing it to make sure folks could actually use it.

I’m now on hold to speak to someone, which is a complete waste of my time. Let’s see how long this takes....

Might consider switching after all these years because I cannot access my money or deposit a check. NOT. OK.

Login Help

I’m trying t enroll on UFCU but system keeps timing out when waiting on temporary password. Anyone have a solution for this? Would love to get this downloaded..

By

Why???

UFCU looks horrible to start off. Second, my original app stopped working so i deleted it and now i can only download this one. Third, you have to re-enroll for no reason. Fourth, UFCU looks like it was made over night, and the original looked really good. My girlfriends original app works fine with no problems but my wouldn’t even open. Please just change it back. This is an absolute fail and this app should get their money back if they paid someone to make this.

By

Meh

The old app seems more efficient and perfectly dispalyed in larger fonts in the accounts section and only listing one item per account. I dislike the name app viewer in accounts with balance and available amounts. Doesn't seem necessary and is annoying to look at. As someone with anxiety and ocd, I find changing things that work simply for viewing changes because some developer think it's a necessity seems illogical. Not pleased. May I continue to use my old version? Please and thank you!

By

Terrible rollout

No notice the old app was retiring, no notice you’d have to re-enroll in mobile banking with the new app, and the re-enrollment process has been a nightmare - the temporary password that is supposed to be sent never gets sent. And don’t bother calling unless it’s during business hours to get help. Tried installing the new app on a Friday and basically don’t have mobile banking until they open on Monday at the earliest, assuming they fix the temporary password issue. Couldn’t be more displeased.

The reinvention or the electronic banking system is a complete failure. The “improvements” they advertise are, at best, figments of IT imagination. Flaws are so extensive that users are beginning to question the security of the transactions, if these go through at all. UFCU response to user difficulties is that these are user errors instead of the result of a faulty, nonintuitive design and botched rollout. The onus to address the issues should fall on UFCU, NOT ITS MEMBERS. Also, they are aggregating all reviews and comments for both the old app and the new app in order to deceptively inflate the user acceptance of the app modifications. It’s like, “liar, liar, pants on fire” but with statistics.
