I’ve been using 微博 for about 3 years or so, though it has an “English” language settings, it’s just parcial and a lot of of the settings and options are still not translated. It used to be very simple to update your profile picture and today i have spent over 45 minutes looking around for the option.
The platform has been made now to hinder your output to the public more than ever. 微博 is available on the american market and it should be updated with proper english and spanish translations for all settings and options, not just partially

DO NOT FORGET YOUR LOGIN INFORMATION. I wanted to start using another Weibo app similar to Weibo, but I don’t know the phone number I used to register for a Weibo account years ago when I first came to China. After 2 hours with customer service (using my broken Chinese because they have no English service or instructions), I was informed that the only way to authenticate my account and re-bind a new phone number was to provide a Chinese ID card number (which I don’t have clearly as a foreigner). Customer service then apologized since I can no longer use any Weibo apps until maybe sometime in the future they allow authentication with passport numbers. Very disappointed.

Like some other reviewers, I forgot the phone number I used to login to the Weibo account I had back when it was still accessible by desktop, so I had to use my email and password. (If I had forgotten my password, I don’t think I would have hope of reclaiming my account 🥺)

However, when I used my phone number to login from another device, it was an entirely new account. Not to mention I haven’t been able to login to Weibo by desktop for 2 years now 😩 Please fix this, Sina Weibo.

They had a big update months back and it took away the translate button! There used to be a button on every post where you could translate to your preferred language (mine being English) and ever since that update the button has gone away. I have to use a separate app just to translate!

I turned off the location when downloaded 微博, and made sure they cannot track my location. But every day I got the local news and advertisements. Some of the videos shows not available to show if my location.
I don’t know how can they possible spy my location after I turned it off, but it is a big issue for Apple to check on, especially this is a Chinese app while used in the US.

What are the testers in Weibo doing everyday? Cannot believe they let it out while there are obviously UI bugs. During transition from one view to the next, the new view always shows to the left first before going back to the center position.

As to one of the reviewer’s complain about ads. I don’t think that’s a problem. You use 微博 and platform for free. And the company needs to make money.

I found it is outrageously annoying and being violated as an user to 微博. My likes to certain blog will constantly disappear within a few hours or one day!!!!!! I have to re-click “ like “on the posts that I like to show my silent support. I have never used 微博 before until a recent event, found 微博 is not honest and lack of integrate when managing data from users.

Feeling sorry for those ppl who don’t have anything else to use!!

There are many Chinese living or born overseas who would love to keep up-to-date and communicate with others from their motherland. Unfortunately not all have the opportunity to learn the Chinese language. Please consider adding in an auto-translate function for ENGLISH, similar to the existing features available on Twitter and other social media platforms. Cheers!

I'm just trying this out because of Dylan Wang 😍. I just want to follow him and see real time post. But man oh man this is testing my patience. My comments instantly disappears and whatever posts I've liked will be unliked after I leave.☹️ Why is it so hard? I just want to follow WangHedi, can you just let me please? 😭😩

First of all i don’t know why an American would get Chinese app when they don’t know Chinese and rating 微博 terrible ans wrote long reviews about how terrible 微博 is when you needs Chinese user name to sign in and I’m Chinese I think this thing is great

The large font of 12 mini is too small!! It’s important for this kind of App to provide a comfortable experience to users, while my eyes hurt after using Weibo for just a few minutes. However, it’s not the phone, but 微博 . Because other apps do not have such problems, for example, you won’t feel so uncomfortable if you read tweets at a large font for a same time period.

I downloaded this to be able to follow my favorite Chinese artists. I switched the language to English but that works only for the menu options. Would be great if it had an auto translate option like Instagram...

i can’t seem to log in, i have never signed up for Weibo before but it tells me that i have then i cannot sign in, maybe it’s because i’m from the US and in an iphone? i’m not sure, and i can’t find the english language version i really wanted to try 微博 because an idol has 微博 and i want to show my support

I commented on a LGBT supporter’s post and made a very IMPLICIT SARCASM on a hater’s reply (你看不到彩色节目因为家只有一台黑白电视 “u cannot see colors cuz your got a b/w TV at home.”) And guess what? They told me my account is in “abnormal state” and need to be “verified.” They even required me to explain my words in their “verifying process”. How is that a verify in every sense? Isn’t verifying means I just need to prove my acct is mine? And HELLO, we have made us clear in 2015 and that was FIVE YEARS AGO. How about you check it out yourself and make an apology?

There have been a large number of reports recently that 微博 shares female users’ personal information, the specific location included, without any permission to those around her in order to presumably attract more male users. Users of older IOS versions report that even with their permission level set to never Weibo still somehow collects data and shares it. No official reply received since report of this problem.

I made an account to follow a bunch of people and now I’m locked out and none of my family members numbers will let them sign up either and I can’t log in on pc or my phone or my iPad bc of suspicious activity so now I can’t see the posts of the people I was following. Literal trash doesn’t let you log in. Will say try again tomorrow. And I do and still nothing. Thanks for nothing.

The only app I found that can secretly use location but would not allow user to disable in Privacy settings, don’t understand how Apple could allow 微博 to pass their security check

I ridiculed a post on Weibo and soon a hater replied me with my TELEPHONE NUMBER as a warning. He did this as a warning to keep my mouth shut, but I just ignored him. And then he posted my phone number on his Weibo and started to register some websites with my phone number. I complained to Weibo about this leak of info, but they just told me nothing could be done. And I keep on receiving spam from the websites that he used my phone number to register. DONT USE 微博!

Weibo disabled features on my accounts arbitrarily without any warnings or explainations. And there is no customer support. The support service number is not reachable outside China. No way to address any customer issues even though you're a paid member. You shouldn't use an app that doesn't treat their customers with respect.

Parting words - stay away from Weibo or it will make you crazy.

After buying a VIP service for several years, there are still many dumb ads. I ’m not bald, I don’t play mobile games, I do n’t believe in Feng Shui, I don’t believe in palms, I don’t need to save money, I don’t buy pirated copies, I don’t want any welfare coupons, I don’t buy shoes, I don’t check my IQ, I don’t eat snacks, I do n’t watch anime. Can these stupid ads fk away from me？You can get a star because at least one star can be selected.

Ever since a big update several months ago, the videos on the front page can’t be viewed properly in landscape mode. A huge portion the picture would be cut off on the top and bottom, so only the middle section of the whole picture shows. Even when the videos are viewed in portrait mode, edges of the picture are cut off slightly, which doesn’t really affect the whole picture, unless there are words at the edges. The videos will be shown in full screen automatically and cannot, I repeat, CANNOT be resized, regardless of which mode viewed.
Some images and gif will be oversized as well when clicked on, and requires to be resized, but some images cannot be resized and would require the viewing device (in my case, iPad mini 2) to be switched to the upright portrait mode.
The videos in SinaNews that shows up in “messages” can never be played out ever since who knows when.
Oh, another thing, automatic video playback cannot be turned off when viewing videos in series, once one video finishes, 微博 will scroll down and play the next (sometimes I like to watch the same video more than once, I would be happier without having to keep scrolling up to play it over!)
Other than those annoying problems aforementioned, 微博 is fun for entertainment and socialization.

I used 微博 for round about seven years, but I found it is becoming worse and worse for too many ads and fees for functions. I now know why most of why friends left Weibo. Yeah 微博 itself becoming better and better but please make more pure of the content

Unfortunately, by far it is still the only social media where you can get unofficial domestic informations in China. PLEASE DO NOT bother to download it if you’re free to use Twitter or anything else. There would be no frigging way I would use this sh•t if we had a better option. I’m disgusted by it’s deeds (deleting user’s posts without any good reason, controlling the hot topics and more)🤢. It’s just simply sad and preposterous.

This is a Chinese app developed for Chinese ppl you wonder why it appears in the us store cuz it’s for my oversea countrymen if you don’t like it don’t use it then cuz Chinese thing doesn’t fit for everyone don’t judge it by what u think

I don’t know what bug they fixed from the previous version, but now I can’t delete private messages....

This is a great app as great as China that you would give your highest rating to it: one star. You account will never be banned without any notification. You never get annoying advertisements. And 微博 never send you some local advertisements just because you went somewhere once. In one word: it is so great that deserves one star, if zero star is not an option. I really love it.

I’ve been trying to register for an account for weeks, but I always receive this message that indicates I’ve requested a security verification prompt too many times. It says to wait for tomorrow but I’ve already waited weeks. I believe I may have attempted to sign up in the distant past and failed the security verification due to misunderstanding the (chinese) prompt but I don’t recall.

Love everything about Weibo. It works for me every time. Don’t have any problems with it. I think I have enjoyed 微博 more than the others apps I have

Always automatically follow some stupids you never heard about without ur permit.
You just the tool of they need to earn money since these stupid buy followers from the idiot Weibo. Yes, you can see the normal person doesn’t have human rights here, they governed everything when the time u join weibo, same things happen in somewhere, I will not telling it, but u must know.

Why are there so many haters. 微博 rocks.
Too much ads? How do you expect a company to survive and provide you with great services? Be sensible be decent, people.

Please fix 微博 . I don’t know why it’s like this. When you get to the gender part and you select a gender and you press continue it says you’ve been Registered and to log in with your phone number. But how can you log in if you haven’t set a password. It doesn’t let you set a password. It is completely rediculous.
