CutStory: Video & Story Editor Reviews

CutStory has made the editing process so much easier. With Instagram stories, only the first minute will post at a time. So if you have a longer video and want to take 15 seconds or 30 seconds or any length from the latter part of the video that IG won’t show, CutStory allows you to do that. For an extra one-time fee, (but very small amount) you can even personalize your videos with your own music. I like simplicity and CutStory does it.

CutStory does a good job of cutting 15 seconds segments for Instagram or what not. Where it fails, is that sometimes if you add music underneath its time matches with the video but often times, it doesn’t. You can scroll and set a starting point for the music so it is on Tempo. I’m a drummer and often record myself with my phone playing and then add the recorded music track underneath it. However, I’d say only 30 percent of the time the Music actually matches up with the video once it is rendered. You can make it sync up in CutStory but then it has to cut up the videos and deliver them back to your phone. When that happens, the music is usually off. If you just need to cut up long videos into segments, I haven’t had any problems with that.

CutStory has worked pretty freaking well, until I tried to add texts boxes which are almost impossible to reshape or move. It’s frustrating because the video will start play as I’m trying to relocate or resize text.

Update: after posting this everything is working perfectly now. I use it to create subtitles on videos and it’s perfect for that and cutting videos to the size you want. Haven’t used it for music or any of the layouts but everything I need has been available this far.

I’m not so clear on what happens exactly with music.. I purchased an upgrade only to find out after that you can’t use it on an iPhone or with Apple Music. So I have to use music local to my phone OR I can search for popular music, but I can only use 30 random seconds of the songs.. Why is that even a thing? Who wants to create video that way? Not trying to complain, just for a usage standpoint I’m like why would this be set up this way? 🤷🏻‍♂️

At first I thought this was a cool app and by far better than anything like its kind but then it stopped working. I’ve downloaded it a few times and turned off and on my phone and it still doesn’t show any photos or videos that I click on. It just stays at the start up screen. My phone has lots of memory and it’s somewhat a newer phone so I don’t know why it’s acting like this. Feels like a waste of money. It happened after I purchased it too. Plus when it was working for a moment it would only take the first 30 seconds of the song and doesn’t let me scroll to any other part of the song but the start. Eh man.

Been using this app for a while but it’s been a few months since my last use. Love that I can now upload multiple videos into one edit session and chop them up for my IG stories in one, seamless process. Great work, and I look forward to exploring more of these new features and maybe getting rid of a different app I’ve been using that had some of these features you guys were missing.

I really love CutStory. I just wish it was easier to edit and add some of the features offered in CutStory . That is where CutStory is super frustrating. I am uncertain why it is so difficult to navigate the features. Something that should take 5 minutes winds up taking 30 minutes or more if you are the type of person that refuses to give up. But then you are frustrated with the time spent trying to make it work.

This has been my go-to app for years to cut longer videos into :15 segments to quickly upload a bunch at once to Instagram Stories. But starting just yesterday, the :15 Insta trimming function is cutting out several seconds of audio, about 2 sentences worth of speaking, and starting the next clip with a massive jump cut and leaving a bunch of quiet pad time at the end. Please help! I’ve cleared my cache in CutStory , updated CutStory etc and nothing is fixing it.

I mainly use CutStory to cut my videos into 15 sec segments for IG stories. If I have a video that is over 5 minutes, CutStory always gets some of it cut and then completely shuts itself without finishing chopping it. I’ve powered my phone down, uninstalled and reinstalled CutStory . Nothing seems to fix it, so my video is still missing the last 4 segments...

I like CutStory but not sure why it changes the layout without me doing that. So for exp I created a stop motion video and exited CutStory . When I went back into CutStory to edit some more on that stop motion video, the format had changed from 9:16, to another layout. Can you fix that? I noticed that with other projects I had as well and I stopped using CutStory for a while. I like it but that’s very annoying. Thanks a lot! Happy Holidays 🎁

I understand not being able to add streaming services, but not having an option to add voice recording files is silly. Seems like it would be an easy add, and it’s unfortunate that I had to actually buy the “add music” feature to find out.

Update: I’ll also add that you cannot trim videos in CutStory . If you add music that is shorter than the video, CutStory will just repeat the music without giving you the option to trim. It is very difficult to trim longer videos afterwards in the camera roll. It also doesn’t save videos, so if you make a mistake and want to go back to fix it, you’re starting all over!

Had an issue restoring my previous purchase of CutStory after getting a new iPhone upgrade. Apparently it’s possibly an iOS issue from what the developers said. But customer service was prompt with my case and they did a fantastic job of helping my situation. Love CutStory! Thanks again guys!

I’ve tried to add text to a 30 second video at least 5 times and every time I download the edited video to my phone, it does not save the entire 30 seconds. Only like 1 second or 15. Could be user error. A bit weird, though, because I didn’t have a problem before downloading and saving a video that was 1 minute in length. Overall I like CutStory . Just wish that wasn’t an issue.

I don’t know what kind of pay reviews they have on here but CutStory is a piece of useless and worthless and waste of time app. I am trying to get my money back and can’t seem to find a link or anywhere where there’s any refund. It took me more than half an hour to make a decent video because when you make them and then the other cuts them involves the logo and then it doesn’t fit into the Instagram post. I tried it because I wanted to see if I get more views with CutStory but it’s so annoying and frustrating please don’t purchase.

I used to LOVE CutStory but not anymore!
The text “ DOUBLE TAP TO EDIT TEXT” shows up in my videos and cannot figure out how to remove it, so annoying!! And you used to be able to add music to your videos and use the slide rule to choose the part of the song you wanted in your video. It no longer gives you a choice, it just puts 30 seconds of the song on your video and if your video is longer than that it just repeats the same 30 seconds. STUPID!! All done with CutStory unless they fix these two features.

It’s a good app yet two things that I noticed with my first video, the first is that when I save it doesn’t save complete. I had to repeat steps again. The second is that when I played the final work it had a sort of noise in the back that I didn’t know how to get rid of as it doesn’t show while editing. That last thing take out my incentive to work more with it.

However, app not still not functioning properly after latest update. Every time I attempt to upload a video, CutStory gets stuck and only produces one video instead of however many my clip should be split into. And it had nothing to do with minimizing CutStory , because I didn't. It simply wasn't functioning properly. Seems to have been resolved for now...

CutStory is a lifesaver- very helpful in making seamless Insta stories more than 1 min long. I only wish the captions option was available straight from CutStory . I have to upload each 15 sec video saved from my phone in order to access captions. Otherwise - it’s a perfect 10!

Have used & loved CutStory for a few years now. However, the past few days it keeps crashing on me when I try to cut. It won’t cut anymore, no matter what timeframe I choose. I’ve tried everything I can think of. Hope it’s updated soon to fix this issue. Never had a his happen with CutStory before. It’s my go-to. Help!

Unless you pay 99 cents to remove a watermark, you're essentially downloading a free trial. I wish CutStory store made this more clear. Unless you don't mind a large "this app" logo in the middle of your output of course. It's nice that you can try out CutStory for free, but a "free" app this is not. I chose not to pay the $1 right now, so I cannot rate CutStory in regular use and will look for free alternatives.

Can I give CutStory ZERO stars? I downloaded CutStory today, purchased all the upgrades possible and gave it permission to access my media. It never offered the options to cut a video up, only upload a video or photo. So I deleted CutStory and downloaded it again thinking maybe it had a glitch or something. Nope. Same exact thing. So I contacted the developers. They responded with the patty cake answer of give CutStory access to my photos and videos. Nice.

So I’ve spent the money on an app that doesn’t do ANYTHING AT ALL. Can I please get a refund?

Read other reviews! Sorry this app didn’t work for them. Whatever you did to work out the glitches, great job because I absolutely love this product!! Simple to use for Instagram and can’t wait to try it out on other platforms! Great app and I’ve recommended it to others!
