Project Engineer. Keeps me sane

I’m a project engineer who uses Kanbana daily. It’s simple, sleek and works well. TBH maybe my favorite part of Kanbana is that it DOESNT suffer from feature creep/bloat. I tried other popular kanban apps and that was one of the main reasons why I switched and stayed on this app.

Pros:
-Sleek design. Easy on the eyes. Love the font and background.
-Easy to use/start using. Very intuitive.
-Easy to move tasks and columns around. Can move tasks to other Kanbans
-Autosaves after editing tasks. (Although this is standard I think for most kanban apps.)
-Different colors for tasks! While this is a simple addition, some of the other apps I tried didn’t have this, was difficult to change on the fly due to bloat, etc.
-Multiple device sync with premium!
-Multiple kanbans with premium

Neutrals:
-Rarely, there are graphical glitches during editing tasks. It always reverts to normal after you finish editing them.
-Can’t change background. I like the background so nbd.

Cons:
-None to mention.

Additional Features I’d like added
-While simple is better and the reason I use Kanbana, I would like more colors. (If GUI space is an issue, colors could scroll horizontal with a swipe when editing tasks.)
-Maybe text formatting (tables, bullets etc.)? But then you begin to crowd up the interface...

But yeah love Kanbana ! Fits my purpose perfectly

Nice format. Doesn’t sync across devices.

Love the simple visual format, ease of re-prioritizing, and the general list and approximate due date approach of Kanbana! Unfortunately it does not automatically sync across devices. Even with signing out and in again on different devices doesn’t result in a sync (which is what was advised by app support.). This leaves me with multiple lists in different devices, which is not helpful. If you just use it on one device though it is fantastic!

Exquisitely simple, highest recommendation

I have using this app free for about a month now to keep track of my personal busy life. After a life changing brain injury 12 years ago, I went from Software Project Manager to Volunteer in 3 different organizations, as well as publishing 6 books, and being a brain injury support group leader and advocate.

I have to manage all this all around my own symptoms which limits my activity to a few hours per day.

Obviously, before this app, i blamed the natural state of chaos on my brain injury.

HOW TO USE this app MOST EFFECTIVELY (my way, obviously)
1. Limit your colors to: Not Started, In process, Need something, waiting Approvals, Complete. Always assign the same color for each stage.
2. The color Grey is RESERVED for sub level header
3. Create your to-do lists as normal
4, when you encounter a to-do that requires steps, color it GREY
and give it a short title
4a. At far of screen, past last column, tap and hold until a new column (stage) appears. Title it the exactly same as above.
4b. Create the box, COLOR GREY, and name it “SUBLIST”
4c. List all your steps, using your correct color scheme
5. Yes, using this concept, you easily create a sub process within a process, and more branches

I love it

Useful and satisfying

I am a freelancer who wears a lot of hats and I was desperate for a simple way to see all of my tasks for all of my projects, as well as my everyday life tasks. I’d tried all sorts of methods, but all the digital means of task tracking I used were cluttered looking and made me feel distracted and overwhelmed. I love this app! Color coding my to do list by project and prioritizing them by column is the perfect system for me. Pulling a task over to the completed column is so satisfying. Could I just make a spreadsheet that does the same thing? Yes, but it wouldn’t be as fun and the display wouldn’t be as nice. I run it on my iPad mini and haven’t had any problems with it in the month or so that I have been using it.

Everything is so easy to work with in this app. 😁

Some days even your to do list needs to be reorganized and here you can do that. You can easily keep track of what you need to do and what is best is I don't need to retype lists I do less often. I can store chores I do less often, and add them later when they need attention. The only thing I would change is the background, I would like to personalize it, and maybe more colors for the chores, but they already provide plenty of color choices. I strongly recommend Kanbana. You will enjoy it. Also, if you have a question support is awesome. They get back to you enthusiastically‼️ 🤗

Brilliant! Never going back to to-do lists

Intuitive UI, easy to use, and the headings / panels and task colors are customizable. I’ve never been a fan of to-do lists because each task has to be in a binary state of done or not done, whereas in reality, many tasks are in a state of progress or re-evaluation. I would always end up leaving things un-checked and feeling like I haven’t accomplished much and eventually stop using the list because it doesn’t reflect progress. I’ve used Kanban boards for programming and in team settings but using it for daily tasks has been a game-changer. Great app overall~

2020 - STILL ❤️ Kanbana!

this app is so handy for organizing tasks by priority, time, or basically any method of your choosing. Its flexibility allows for creating many types of lists, contents of which can be dragged and dropped within lists and across columns. For a small IAP, multiple boards and extra features are available.
Previous Review:
Have tried numerous organizing and list apps; this app seems to be just want I was looking for. Love its simplicity, one-page viewing, availability of multiple boards for different projects/ideas, syncing, moving notes and columns, and dragging across columns. Color coding really helps too. I highly recommend this app!

Better than Trello for tasks

I returned to this app after dabbling with Trello. A key advantage of this app over Trello for me is that the format is more compact - you can see more on a page at once. Trello items take up more space, what with tags and color bars (color bars if you want to assign a color for category). Moreover, the this app app is a pleasure to use - being graphically pleasing and nearly frictionless — and therefore a tool that can be your workhorse. The review by “Project Engineer. Keeps me sane” summarizes how the this app app is streamlined and free of extraneous features (at least for a task management app). All in all, a perennial productivity tool.

Works well for my tasks

I like the different colors, I can assign colors to certain tasks (all work tasks blue for example) or to show urgency (most urgent tasks in red). I can re-name the columns to whatever I need. At a glance, I’m able to easily see my tasks and reminders, and move them between columns. It’s a useful app if you are more visual, if you don’t have really long lists, if you just want to keep track of the most important stuff to do. I use it on my iPad.

Nice assistant on big projects.

I really like Kanbana. It is helpful to organize thoughts , improve efficiency on task completion particularly when there is a multiple step project I am working on. I can plan out the project step by step and make sure I have everything I need before starting and stay on track as I move though.
Really love that you can change the note colors . I would pay for the premium version of Kanbana if I could change the font , color and size of text.

Great simple app

Kanbana is amazing. Has worked wonders for my organization/planning/execution of projects. Used to have a kanban on a whiteboard but it wasn’t big enough for the sheer amount of post it notes I needed. Now whenever I need to remember to do a task I just pop it in here. Would b nice if there was even more customization available with colors/categorizing, or making more subsets of tasks, but as is it’s an incredible app.

Love it just wish I could stack task rows vertically.

*Wish I could stack tasks vertically
.*wish I could copy whole page to duplicate it on a new page. Because I’m using it as a daily work assignment. So I have a row of employee names a row of all different types of vacation and two rows for different job assignments that I will drag employee names to.
* I also wish it was a one time fee even if it was $25 I would upgrade. I just don’t like monthly fees.

Perfect for Constantly Shifting Priorities

I use this app to list all my GTD Next Actions (essentially tasks) and move them from column to column based on constantly shifting priorities. I use four primary columns: To Do In the Future, To Do This Week, To Do Today, and Waiting For. I constantly move items between columns based on work developments, client expectations, and time available. The color coding makes it easy to create groups and categories when desired.

Great but needs one thing

I love Kanbana, especially how small each tile is. Easy to visualize and move the tiles around. Unlike similar tools, a lot of tags can be seen even on an iPhone, and the syncing is flawless. But for me, it needs a note capability. I’d like to see the tile have a small icon that indicates if there is a note. Hit it to create, update, or delete a note attached to that tile. And this would only take up a tiny space on the tile.

Love this app!

As a high school student who has so much work to do that I’ve ended up loving making to-do lists, Kanbana is already my favorite method of keeping track of everything. From homework assigned in school to extracurricular homework, this makes planning more fun and motivates me to work even more. I really have to thank my chemistry teacher for showing me Kanbana. I love Kanbana already, it’s great!

I love this app!

Looks like I've found the to-do list of my dreams. I liked the free version enough to buy the "multiple device" option.

A few thoughts:

The price seems excessive--$8.99 to sync your (single) board across devices, and then another $3.99 to be able to create multiple boards. I really would expect that functionality to be included in the former price.

Currently it seems you can only add stages when logged into your board online. Why?

More color choices would be a great benefit, as well as the ability to customize those colors.

All that said, this is the ONLY to-do format I've ever used consistently--digital or analog. I'm excited to see how it develops!

Great for personal Agile application!

I needed something to help get me started applying the Scrum and/or Kansan principles to aspects of everyday life while I pursue my next career. It’s one thing to learn the book versions of Agile, it’s another to apply it! Kanbana is simplistic in features and easy to use - it is NOT suited for full-fledged team or coach use although if the shoe fits, by all means wear it. I enjoy using it!

Easy Peesy

Love, love Kanbana. Easy, smooth, intuitive user face. Just drag to move columns and tasks into different columns. Takes seconds to plan out your day. Color coding allows the ability to take in everything at a glance. I would like to see the column headers color coded, otherwise it is perfect.

Found what I was looking for

I typically fill the wall and every surface with Post-It notes to keep track of work in progress. This is a simplistic and quite efficient tool for what I need. Over the past week I have been able to organize my task in a manner which works for the way my head works.

Best organizational tool I’ve found!

Totally gets rid of all my sticky notes, I use it for work and personal. I love it, its on my phone, IPad and computer if I need it. Highly recommended. Not really any negatives, other than some of the features aren’t obvious how to use at first, have to use your best Apple Zen to figure out a few things...

Enjoyable productivity tool

I've used to do lists all my life. Over the last few years I have tried Evernote which I use for many other purposes, dropbox to store a lot of documents, Wunderlist which is a particularly good program. I am always experimenting. However, until I tried this app, I did not realize how much fun to do lists and planning documents could actually be. It is a colorful, playful and truly fun way of planning your day, week, month, year and really getting things done! I find myself using it several times a day not out of a sense of discipline because I just enjoy it.

Good Kanban Board App

I use a Kanban board for work and wanted to find a Kanban board app for personal use on my iPad and found Kabana. This is working out quite well so far. The only big drawback that I’m finding is I wish there was more colors I can use for my tile identifications. This may have me look for another app. If I am missing something to add more colors please let me know.

Amazing simple kanban app

I love the simplicity and UI of this little app. Only frustrations are not being able to set/change task color palette, or set background color. I wish there was a white option, the dark is very high contrast.

Kanban newbe

Just discovered this app while trying two other apps and found this app very intuitive and easy to use with the absence of annoying menus.
I signed up immediately for the premium plan to sync across my devices. Great job.

Needs data export ...

Really, REALLY wanted to use this to replace couple different organization apps. After 4+ years, still doesn’t have any type of export capability. Look/feel is exactly wonderful. Amazing on an iPad Pro. The minimalism is a nice departure. However, I cannot use any app that does not allow a data dump of some sort. Even CSV export would be adequate for my purposes ... oh well.

Simple

Only using for one device, works great. Very quick replies when I had questions. Felt like I got on the bandwagon early with Kanbana, excited to see it take off.
