Better than ever!!!

Been using WayofLife for about 3 years, and it’s now been about 2 years since I last left a review. Through steady updates, this continues to be the best habit/task tracking app out there for me. It’s simplicity, function, and charm just can’t be matched.

The most recent update involves some nifty design changes so I thought I’d update my 2 year old review. I really do love the newer update! It brings so many design elements that make WayofLife much more beautiful and modern. Buttons, journals, and charts look so much cleaner and more modern. I also love the new themes! The dark themes are more favs, but the other ones really do bring out different moods and vibes from app.

With each update, the developer brings something new to the table, which just goes to show how hard working and dedicated the devs are — not only to WayofLife , but to its users. This continues to be a quality app that I’ve used everyday for 3 years and I consider to be an essential for all iOS users. I hope the dev continues to bring us quality and keep up the good work! Every bit of praise and success WayofLife gets is well deserved.

Helpful! Encouraging!

I find WayofLife the best for habit forming. I bought several to test out which one I would like the best since forming a good habit is so critical to healthy living. WayofLife has a notification on WayofLife (red bubble with number of habits waiting to be completed that day). The notification is helpful to remind you as the day goes on and you can see the number go down.
I made the mistake of having 7 habits and it grew to 10. I'm down to 3 now since I was feeling defeated when I didn't accomplish all 10. Simple habits like "make your bed in the a.m." or "take vitamins" or "exercise for 10 minutes". I was sick for a few days but I checked off that I exercised and took my vitamins and wrote a note in that box that I would have exercised and taken vitamins if I wasn't puking. Or you can hit the skip button and write a note why you had to skip. If you didn't have to skip, check the "X" and use that as an oppty to get better. It's not a negative mark on you, it's an oppty to get more green check marks and improve. Keep it simple and support and encourage yourself.

Invaluable

I have used to app for some six or seven years, and find it tremendously helpful. I am sure my life would be less without it (in fact I did think I had outgrown it at one point and was proven quite wrong). I tell people about it all the time. It's a great way, for one, to not get hung up on all-or-nothing thinking (with perfect streaks and so on), and to see that even when you feel like you are failing to some degree, you may still be improving from what came before. And of course, it is perfect just for the simple business of doing the day-to-day tracking itself, just for the accountability and record keeping. In the rare instance I have needed to contact the developer, it might have taken a while for them to initially get back (I think they are just one person, so be patient) but when they did I found them to be tremendously helpful and open to feedback. An absolutely solid app.

Needed this app! (basic spreadsheet export)

So many journaling and tracking apps out there really put some effort into their exports. Your only option here is a spreadsheet (which is good! And necessary! But not enough.) Take a look at the mood tracking app Daylio’s export, it’s a pdf, looks nice and it’s good to read over and review.

Another thing, exporting habit descriptions separately! Descriptions are stuck on WayofLife ! I use them to keep track of what I mean by “yes” or “no” for the habits at any given time and so it’s important for me to save my descriptions as well, it should be an option. My only choice is to copy and paste them which isn’t so bad.

Maybe what I’m asking is too much, or not that useful to other users, or not feasible. I don’t know so for that reason I’m not rating WayofLife down. I love it so far thank you. I’ve been starting so many positive habits I started to lose track!

Filler free, but…

I've got a bad habit of looking for a habit tracker, but this about hits the sweet spot. Fat-free, simple …but still gives the data nerd in me some info to peruse once populated. And the one-time buy is a huge, huge plus for me. The navigation can be a little wiggly getting used to it, as is flipping the script on "yes" v "no", but nothing crushing. There are one or two aspects of the navigation that appear to do nothing (or I'm not as bright as I thought) or are vestigial, and support has yet to reply, but I don't seem to be missing anything in making it work and track for right now. Other than that, nice and clean and self-contained. In and out without a lot of pointless distractions that build bad habits while working on others. Looking forward to filling it up to keep getting that bigger picture and for where this might go and what else they might do. If you want a tracker without overkill data and cutesy eye-candy fluff, this might be for you.

My Favorite App

I’ll put the strait facts first but I may ramble, so bear with me.

I have been using WayofLife for around three years now and I can say it’s absolutely perfect. The updates are always looking for ways to improve, the cost is absolutely worth it and helps me stay more consistent on so many of my habits that were lacking before. I can’t recommend WayofLife enough.

If you’re someone who is neurodivergent and/or you have a bad memory, WayofLife is super helpful for appreciating all of your small victories and visually recognizing patterns. I love that I can see my trends of habits and pinpoint lows for myself and work on improving. It’s great to have a basis to go off of and goals. Being able to see the progress is one of the most helpful aspects without paying a price that’s not worth it on other apps.

Just what I wanted

I wanted a simple “yes I did it” sort of tracker. But one that I could mark off the next day and not necessarily at the time I was doing it. This has reminders if you want them, but I like that I can set one reminder to update the whole list instead of being bugged about every item. I want the motivational nudge of a streak without the irritation of reminders or stress of losing “credit” because I was living my life and not updating my app one day.

Love that you can mark as done, not done, or skipped... as in didn’t do on purpose. And the tracking of not doing negative things is a first in the recommendations. I tried a dozen habit minders and this was the only suggesting that and asking if it’s a positive or negative item (for example, tracking not smoking or not binge eating).

Happily paid for the full version with unlimited items.

Great for making and keeping daily goals

I’ve liked the setup of Way of Life more than just about any other goal app because it focuses on things one day at a time. The streaks make it just as good, if not better than Streaks, and much simpler than Productive or Todoist, or any of the other main ones you see pop up in WayofLife Store rankings list with higher ratings in the same category that I can’t think of the names for.

It’s been really good for me, and helps motivate me with seeing the trends with the paid version. While it doesn’t plan my day out or help me record a daily journal, it’s simplicity is what really helps me keep things focused in on what I really want to do: improve my quality of life and character by focusing on the key behaviors that are most important to me and my sense of identity.

Very nice, but lacking some much desired features

I really like the simplicity of WayofLife, and especially love and respect that the developer did not fall into the subscription model; buy-once and forget is so great for the user.

I will say that it is missing a few key features that would really complete it for me.

Would it be possible to add in an option make some journal items occur less frequently than every day of the week? For instance, there are some things that I want to target doing once a week, or twice a week. To be able to track those as well as my daily habits, all from a single app, would be amazing. Currently I have to mix-and-match with other apps to really review a week of my life the way I'd like to.

Devs; is this possible? It would get a 5-star review from me. If N-times a week is too complicated to include, simply having the option of a once-a-week journal entry would be awesome.

What I'm currently doing is making journal entries that say something like "exercised, or took intentional rest day". This technically turns it into an every-day item, but it's kind of a non-ideal workaround to the preferred "exercised this week" option that could exist.

Chains could work the exact same way, with respect to consecutive weeks rather than consecutive days

Thanks for reading, abs for the hard work!

Almost perfect

I have been using WayofLife for ~2 years. It really helped me reflect on my life and encouraged me to keep up with my right habits. The UI is keep getting better and easier to use. Love the option that it automatically jump to the next open entry. Here are a few features I would love to see.
1. A way to set goals like 3 times a week or once every month - very useful for tracking exercises or anything that you don’t necessarily want or need to do everyday
2. Ability to make notes or entry for future days - eg. I travel for work a lot and like to track which day I’m away from home. So if I know I will be gone for 5 days, it would be easier to enter they all at once.
3. For the same example, it would be great if I could set a not exceeded goal. So I could track no more than 15 days a month away from home
4. Integration with Apple Health and other health apps. So I don’t need to duplicate the entry of tracking how many days I workout.
I’m sure any app have rooms to improve. But overall I love WayofLife. Great job for the developers behind WayofLife. Big thanks to you all. It has helped change my lifestyle and help me be a better me!

Best Habit Tracking App!

I am very into tracking my daily habits and the statistics of my progress so I have downloaded way too many habit tracking apps over time. WayofLife is by far the best one to keep me on track and motivated to complete my tasks. I love seeing how I am doing in all my tasks for a week/month to keep me going when I lose motivation and having all that information on one screen is extremely helpful. I used the Productive app for years because it seems to be the most popular habit tracking app, but it isn’t motivating to have to click on each habit to check my progress, I like having everything in my face at once. I haven’t used WayofLife for long, but see myself using it consistently for years to come.

Easy, customizable, & intuitive

Update for 2020: They just keep making WayofLife better! They put in thoughtful updates: adding dates and ways to customize progress views. Still love WayofLife and use it every day! I also love that I can easily adjust or change my goals without losing data on past goals. Highly recommend WayofLife! Well worth the small cost. (FYI: I rarely rate apps at all, unless they’re highly disappointing or don’t deliver what was promised— not the case here!) Buy with confidence.

Great way to track goal progress, jot down notes or memories, & stay motivated. App is easy to set up, learn, & customize. A quick & effective way to see data visually.

#1 Goal Tracker for productivity-minded peeps

I’ve researched all the goal tracking apps I could find on IOS. This is definitely THE BEST! It helps me do the most important things in my life, instead of what the day hands me.

Great layout for daily tasks. Super easy entry of completed tasks. Excellent and robust graphs of progress over time. What is immediate often takes the place of what is most important to us. WayofLife is an incredible tool to circumvent that. It can even get a little addictive as you see your progress and track it. I normally have some extra time at the end of the day, so I open up WayofLife and see what has not been completed so I can hammer out a few more of my personal goals.

Love this app

I have been using WayofLife daily for nearly a year. The literal act of tracking my habits has led to me understanding the behaviors I can do to lead myself to a better life, everyday. When I don’t have all of my habits in the green I can pretty much correlate if my day was “good” or not. Seeing trends in my habits helps too. WayofLife lets me journal and continue to stay on the path to meeting and exceeding my goals. It has become such a habit that I don’t even think about using it(ironic). I just have it remind me every night and I follow the prompts and it has helped my life. Highly recommend if you are looking to take your life to the next level.

Great free app. Customizable.

Many of the other apps out there only let you track about 3 habits for free, which I guess is fine for some folks. However, since I’m trying to track a well-rounded approach to physical, social, and spiritual health, I wanted more than just 3 habits. This one lets me add as many habits as I like. And it also has a feature that lets me track habits I don’t do every day... like weekly gardening or whatever.

If you like WayofLife, I do encourage folks to consider giving the developer a small tip. I like to support small developers who otherwise are working for free, but that’s entirely up to you. Otherwise, you can use all features on WayofLife for free.

My app of the year!

I discovered WayofLife about 2 months ago. Somehow I managed to get through the first 3/4 of this year, let alone my entire life without it. It’s incredibly easy to use and is BY FAR the best money you’ll spend getting the full version. Having the ability to track infinite things in your life is well worth the ~$5 it costs to upgrade WayofLife . The red & green make it easy to not only differentiate but to help you determine what’s good or bad for you. Looking forward to using this one for a long time down the road and see where it helps me get to.

Great app but there’s room for improvement

Way of Life is a great app for tracking ones progress or habits. Whether you want to stop a habit like eating sweets everyday or to start up a new habit like reading. It also allows you to write notes which I used whenever I lost my streak. There’s even a page with all your notes so you can read the through and reflect. My one critic is that WayofLife could’ve had more interaction. Even something like confetti after a week of maintaining a good habit or making progress. I think if my milestones had been celebrated, I would have kept logging in more than I did.

Using it for years

I’ve used Way of Life for years now. It does its job diligently, and I’ve appreciated the improvements over the years.

However, the lack of syncing has become problematic for me. I know on the surface, syncing for a habit tracker may seem like overkill which can be easily skipped.

But I keep a separate, old device beside my bed for catching notes and ideas … and Way of Life is only on my main phone.

So when I’m dozing off to sleep and remember something I need to add to a tracker, I have to make a separate note somewhere else (usually in Things), then in the morning be mindful enough to put the note in its proper place in WoL.

I do this regularly enough that it has become annoying, especially when I have multiple notes to add to different trackers. WoL is the type of app where you want to track a note when it happens, not create a sprawling system to keep it in order.

I’ve tried other trackers, several of which have sync, but prefer WoL’s simplicity. I just need this simplicity to sync across multiple devices.

Best productivity app on the market

I’ve been in search for a great productivity app for a long time and I’ve finally found it. I’ve used a bunch of other apps and they all fall short for various reasons. This one finally delivered what I was looking for. I wanted a clean, easy, accountability tool for tracking daily habits. The user interface is incredibly simple. I love the trend charts...I’m a data nerd and this gives me all the data I need to see progress, without overwhelming me.

Great app. Absolutely worth the $4 fee. But this and you will love it.

Perfect for making that change!

I joined WayofLife wanting to lose weight. I set a plan to workout as much as I can and no soda. WayofLife helped me lose 5 pounds of fat to have the perfect body I wanted. WayofLife is great to show how far I’ve come, but also how far I need to go. I would 100% recommend. One thing I would like to see in WayofLife is just a little celebration for hitting milestones. Example: after a month have a little animated display on the screen. Just something that would spice up WayofLife a little.
