Goodbye BPI

I had a good banking experience with you since 2011, even tho I went abroad, your mobile banking services were great until you launched this new app. I am guessing the bank is tired of catering their clients abroad, and planned to no longer extend their services to those who do not have access to ATM to register their non philippine mobile numbers. This might be their way of getting rid of clients that do not reside in the Philippines. Yup, any client of the bank who is out of the country, this new app is not for you. You can try calling their toll free number and see what you can find to help you, if you have all the time in the world.
I loved the old app tho, so convenient to use! Thanks this app!

Hassle

Been with this app for as long as i could remember and have been using the online banking/ app for abt 15 yrs now to send my remittances. I have never had this problem before they changed to d new app. It was giving an error saying i should switch network to proceed. Then i called customer service (while abroad and not having a toll free number) and waited for about half an hour to get someone to talk to me. She was really helpful and said she made a ticket for my issue and will be fixed in 3 business days.. a week's passed and still not working.

This app drives users insane

Why does this app love fixing what's not broken? Whenever they try to improve their app, they're going backwards. They keep adding unreasonable security measures while sacrificing their users' convenience. This is so ridiculous, I couldn't access both online and mobile banking, they essentially wanted me to go back to the Philippines to make credit card payments. Not to mention they charge higher instapay fees. Rewards redemption is a trash too, they wanted you to download a separate app called "Vybe". Seriously this app, what's going on??

Don't fix what works well. Now i cannot use gcash.

1. Registration for new device needs local sim which is impossible for me living abroad with no local sim working. I can no longer ise my tablet to transact without a local sim, i used to be able to do it.
2. I thought it cannot be worse. I can no longer transfer gcash as approval using my us mobile number linked does not send me any notification.
Your IT team messed this one as old functions that used to be fine no longer works now.

1 step forward, 2 steps back

First, the mobile key doesn't work when transferring from a laptop, even after reinstalling BPI . this app does not respond to requests for assistance.

As in another review, the ability to paste into BPI is gone! At least for the account name. We transfer to a number of family members with different accounts. It is almost impossible to switch back and forth between notes or other apps and memorize full names to enter into the this app app. Please restore this function.

New app not working for 7 days now.

The old app is better than the new one. The new one keeps showing under maintenance try a new version. I have the new version. I don’t have access to it for 4 months now. Tried to complain and followed all the instructions and still not working. Im very sure it’s not my phone who got the problem because it wasn’t only me who is experiencing this issue. How about fixing BPI so it’s compatible with iOS. I totally don’t like this new app! Very disappointing!

Difficult to use when you live outside PH

Registering the device in BPI is what makes BPI difficult to use. I really want to send money home to PH but it gives me a headache when sending money through BPI. When I had to reinstall BPI , it’s asking me to register the device again. Using SMS is really expensive if you’re trying to text outside PH.

The old app is waaaaay better than BPI. It’s more user-friendly than the new this app app. Give us the old app back!!!

Please be considerate to your clients overseas

I am currently living abroad. Before coming here I registered my device and mobile key. Then, I updated BPI today and ask me to register the device again. My registered sim is with me but the issue is I can’t send back the secured message to this app to verify my phone even there is enough load. Pls be considerate to your clients outside of the country!!!! I need an access to my funds thru online app!!!!!!!!!!!! I am planning to retract all my savings from this bank.

Not For Clients Abroad

Deleting BPI for now until they fix the device registration issue where you need to have the physical sim inserted on your mobile device. If you’re using a virtual sim, the device registration will not going work. The old app works perfectly and can be transferred smoothly when switching phones.

The this app online website works fine when managing accounts. It doesn’t require complicated device registration process.

this app is good in making clients unhappy. Good job this app.

Not user friendly

You get logged out after a minute of inactivity and lose all of your information on a transaction you’re trying to make, some folks specially elderly takes a good amount of time to enter details because of that BPI will log you out and having to register BPI on a phone with registered phone number is ridiculous when you’re helping a older family member navigate BPI or set up their app and you’re in abroad, very hard to use, I understand the two step verification or one time pin for added security but using the phone with your registered sim/phone number in it is a bad move. I used to have an account with this app but not considering to re-open for that reason.

Difficult to register

Not sure why they needed to change BPI. I had so many problems registering my devices. I used to be able to use my US based phone for my mobile key but no longer. The registration process prevents me from doing so. I registered a local number and that worked fine after jumping so many hoops including having to activate the new number on a local ATM. The problem of course is that as soon as I leave the Philippines and return to the US, this Globe phone number will no longer work. Now how will I be able to pay my bills in the Philippines online while in the US? How? I may have to consider opening another account in another bank to avoid these issues.

This version of BPI App is backward and inconvenient -5 stars

Nothing in BPI is convenient for long time clients of this app and users of this app Mobile App. The device registration process is ridiculous, it requires text messaging, plus the registered sim requirement installed on the device which is ridiculous given that clients most likely have multiple devices and some are abroad. IF YOU UPDATE/CHANGE YOUR PHONE, DO NOT WIPE OUT THE OLD PHONE WITHOUT INSTALLING THE this app APP ON THE NEW DEVICE SO YOU CAN USE MOBILE KEY. I had to change my this app registered mobile number to a roaming PH number as my mobile provider abroad had backend issues and that time unable to send or receive international text messages. I’m staying with the old app for now, it is way easier on the eyes too.

Overly strict compared to other banking apps

I hope you can develop a secured easy to use app. Your instructions to register to the new app is overly strict that it can’t even apply to my situation, I think it’s not just me who's having this dillema. I downloaded BPI on my iPhone but it requires to send a text message using my registered phone with this app. The thing is I’m in US, my PH sim(roaming) is with me on an old iPhone so I can receive text codes. My new phone (iPhone 14 Pro) doesn’t have a physical sim tray. So my next option is to register my US number. But I have to activate it by inserting my ATM card to a this app ATM which is impossible if I live in the US. I hope you have an override for situations like this.

Terrible Implementation

This new app is awful. Who in the world ever approved this design. The process to install BPI is incredibly and unnecessarily long and complicated and laborious.

But the worst part is BPI is tied to a specific SIM. That leaves out the ability to use different mobile devices. Two partners can’t access the account on their own devices.

This is ABSURD! I bank at 4 different institutions and this is the only one with this ridiculous system. We have been this app customers and put up with their lack of service and ridiculous complicated procedures and lack of features (you still can’t order checks through BPI , the customer has to go into the branch! Not all accounts can be seen using the ATM and one can’t transfer funds between different accounts using the ATM. That’s horrible).

In any event this is the last straw. We are moving to BDO and closing all our this app accounts.

Thumbs down, not ofw friendly

If only I could give a negative star, I would definitely give BPI. I am really losing patience with this, and I don’t know what’s your plan for all the complaining ofw’s. I’ve been trying to log in for 4 days now and still “unable to process at this time”. They don’t respond thru messenger, only on their facebook comment section. I did everything they told me, to uninstall, reinstall, restart phone, clear cache, and still didn’t work. The last thing they told me is to call their hotline number, like really? I’m in the US, aside from I don’t know how much it will cost me, calling your hotline is also time consuming.

Badly written app, change your bank

If you’re able to…hurry and change banks to a more user-friendly interface.
This new OTP update will break your authentication. Why? It can’t see your registered phone number no matter how legit you were. Everything breaks and there’s no remedy unless you literally walks in to a brick and mortar bank and plead your case to a real person.
Sad part is you can’t go back as it doesn’t support backward compatibility.
Lesson is, if you happen to update your this app app to the so-called better app good luck with that because you will never access your own checking account online again!

A Very Limiting App

To the this app team handling BPI , stop making over promises with your big marketing campaigns, introducing trend after trend after trend of features that never see the light of day.

None of your over promised app feature work seamlessly. I’d rather you perfect basic App features than keep introducing useless features for clout, that don’t work.

Your OTP text messages are so delayed none of the intended features work. OTP is so common and basic yet you cant even perfect the feature.

Biller application is so useless. Because the OTP never gets through.

The credit card feature to pay billers is still at a very confused stage. Is it a feature or not a feature? Please make up your mind.

Please make BPI useful. Don’t go the BDO route, of chewing more than you can swallow. What’s the point of gaining more customers if you can’t handle the current and existing ones. Please give us clients a decent app we could depend on.

Not OFW friendly

Will ask you to send a link using your registered Philippine number so you did but it still failed to verify coz sending message wont go through regardless if you are on roaming and have a load. Better get your money from them and transfer to a different bank that has a better app. Maybe the developers were out of touch regarding Filipinos abroad using mobile app on their foreign country issued numbers and phones instead of their Philippine roaming number which is not reliable in sending texts most of the times.

Ridiculous and most backward app

I can understand this app’s priority for the safe use of BPI but restricting BPI to a single phone with associated number is a very backward and outdated approach. For example, I have a simless phone and I cannot register to access it becaise I cannot use my Philippine sim. this app has to think outside the box so it benefits those living abroad with this app accounts. There are so many ways to secure your app and the restriction to use OTP is ridiculous and dumb at this technological age.

convinced ppl to use bpi & this is what i got

BPI was working before i went on vacay to ph then when i got back abroad, for no reason, it stupidly didn’t work anymore & giving me a hard time registering (eating my phone’s credit per sms sent!) my device AGAIN! note: i didn’t remove my simcard nor change unit when using BPI .

it is giving contradictory notifications: I successfully registered AND register aborted!!!!!!

NO ONE is bothering to respond to the email as well!!!!!! i don’t understand why they ask to switch to the new app when the stupid app is not ready to be used!!!!! also, no one is manning their emails to respond to people abroad (what a way to support their clients abroad, this app!!!!!).

i won’t bother sending to my this app account anymore. HOWEVER, my mom, who is a PREFERRED account holder is having a hard time with BPI as well (same story since I was the one who helped her register)….. but then again, i will convince her to take her banking elsewhere! after all, the other banks are already available online!

Useless!!!

I got an email saying it’s the last day to download BPI. So, I downloaded BPI . Only to find out I cannot login because im here abroad — i have to register my phone which is not possible. I have been a client for more than 20 years. Though i understand all these “security measures” are to make sure my money is safe from scammers/fraud, this is also becoming more and more difficult for me to access my own money!

App not working properly

My issue has been going on for months. I kept calling customer service for help but nothing happens. I just changed phone, same number and yet BPI doesn’t recognize my number and won’t let me log in BPI . I can only use the desktop. I lost the convenience of using BPI when a simple change in cellphone unit is making it hard to fix the problem

BPI forcing us to us an inferior App

This new app is the second time they have tried ti force us to use it. Have a modern iphone and BPI is still having issues logging in my account. I got a text i have one day left to register but after many attempts to sign in, finally get in when BPI allows me. Then the mobile key register fails. Complete garbage. Don’t fix what’s not broken. Old app works

If only I can give zero star!!!
Very disappointed!! I’ve been a this app user eversince but this new app is testing my patience!!! Not a good one!!!!! Its really a pain to us users outside PH!!! this should’ve been completely tested and fix all bugs before allowing the users to use! waste of time!!!! been trying to log in for couple of hours now looking for ways How I can get back my money , cause you might lose a client!

MYOPIC GLOBAL OUTLOOK

The colossal FAILURE of existing users with existing recognized devices to port that functionality REMOTELY is a FAIL.
That they have linked this app PC-Based Bank to having BPI on your phone now makes remote billpaying IMPOSSIBLE.

To be a this app Client you must quit or take unpaid leave from your job, buy a flight to the Philippines, get the enrolled SIM and put it in YOUR FORMERLY RECOGNIZED SAFE KEY DEVICE and REREGISTER it to be able to use EITHER PC Based App, or the Mobile App.

This “logic” gives BPI ZERO STARS but that isn't allowed to I’m forced into giving it an ARTIFICIALLY HIGH RATING ON ONE-STAR!

This is akin to some backwater Credit Union like from the USA thinking all the customers live in the town where the bank building is located and BLOCKING ACCESS OUTSIDE THAT AREA. Completely myopic given employment realities. Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid.

This is the worst app for non Philippines based clients

How can I use this when it asks for a Philippine cell phone? It also asks for the SIM to be installed on my Phone but I have an e SIM. I have other bank apps. It should allow you to just enter your log info like any normal bank’s app. Why register a phone? Just allow OTP or email verification.

I can’t register my mobile to this new app. My registered number is on my other mobile as a roaming number. I am working as an immigrant outside the country and I am really trying to register. If you can remove the mobile number registration and just the device registration. It is hard for those who are working outside the country.

Mastercard Debit only and ATM activation

I’m living in the united states and the debitcard where I send my savings doesn’t have the mastercard logo. Does that mean I wont have any access to my bank account on BPI until I get to go home?! Also, where in the US do I have to go to find a this app ATM machine and if you do have one why would one have to drive OR fly there just to activate my stupid phone number?

Can’t link ipad device

This new app should allow non sim ipad users to link their device. The old app allows it including biometrics and authentication sms sent to registered mobile phone. Ipad device is more user friendly for old people like me, such hassle using a phone with a tiny screen for mobile banking. I know there’s a way around this predicament, pls update app.

Negative Stars

This is so inconvenient for account holders living abroad. I didn’t have issued from BPI before but you changed something and now, I don’t get OTP on my registered mobile number. I cannot make payments online for my insurance. This is ridiculous. You won’t pay for any interest charges incurred because your app refuses to send an OTP to an international number when it is REGISTERED already.

Doesn't work for iPhone 13

It works for my Iphone 11 and Google Pixel. However, it would not open on my 13. It always says that I should connect to a different network. This is extremely unfortunate because 13 is the number that's registered with them. The mobile key can only be set up with the registered number, which is the 13

Worse than the old app

Normally I don’t write reviews, but I just have to say how so much WORSE this new app is compared to the old one. The old one’s design was more elegant and legible. This new one just looks sloppy, amateurish and downright ugly. Don’t fix what isn’t broken. this app, don’t your software developers have anything better to do than break things?

I wanted to enroll someone's account so I could transfer funds without a fee. The website says it is possible to enroll an individual's account only on the mobile app, but there is nowhere in the mobile app to enroll an account. Who are the idiots in this app's tech team?!? They should be fired.

I don't understand why this app wants people to only use the mobile app for certain transactions.

You’re lucky if it’s working

Ever since I downloaded BPI and registered it, it only worked twice. It’s been asking me to change networks and telling me it’s under maintenance. We’re better off with the old app. This doesn’t work at all. This is more like moving backward than forward. Stay away from BPI.

For OFW BPI is very inconvenient and not accessable. I dont use my old mobile which has my ph registered number with this app and not allowing me to register my new device usa mobile number for the new app since I dont have access to this app atm overseas to change my mobile number. And this app customer service is hard to reach.

Like other reviews, I can’t agree more how badly this transition to the new app is handled by this app. I’m on software development business, I can’t phantom how the user experience was not baked into the new design and implementation process! It seems that their product or business analyst just executed from a useless plan with no user inputs! Can you reactivate the old app, please, before we decide to transfer our business (and money) somewhere else!

The old app was working fine, and i could even access my account overseas. With this new app, I can’t even access my account. Period. I’ve been having trouble even changing the phone number I use with BPI . Worse, they made it so that you can’t even do these things on the website anymore so you have to do it on BPI . Definitely moving to a different bank because of this.

Why did I even download this?

I set BPI up couple weeks back. I did plenty just to do so. I even made one transaction here last week, instead of the old app; to make sure pin worked on this one.

I tried opening it yesterday but it was on maintenance, sure. But now I thought of doing a transaction and I’m asked to “Register your device”. BUT I DID ALREADY.

Why? Why must you do this? Why make such inconvenience? And to top it off, I can’t even open the old app.

Activate mobile key within new app

Registration was easy because I use a single globe number/sim on a single device. Just remember to activate mobile key in app settings and enable notifications in the new app, otherwise it will try to use your old this app app’s mobile key for fund transfers to other banks. I do appreciate the need for an OTP as an added layer of security for registering, and the use of numeric zeroes rather than characters that look like letter Os. Wish the logout link would be placed on the main page rather than under “more.”

Finally got to register

Had to go the old way of putting my Philippine SIM to the phone just to complete the registration which involves automated texting from the registered number to their verification. Such a hassle. Had to do it anyways.
