Functions well

Telegraph black icon app for Subscribers is doing a good job of presenting the front page and extracting the articles in digital format. The simple navigation is fairly fool proof and enables the reader to browse through every article. I find I can speed read through several articles in quick succession. so that means the response on a basic Internet service is good. The only thing that takes time is to load the daily edition, which is fine and part of the routine.

Review

Enjoying The Daily Telegraph abroad here in America while making plans to spend more time in England with visits and also with a new flat purchase bringing my lovely English wife closer to ‘home’ with me happy to follow!

I love everything about The Daily Telegraph and am amazed at how much information and quality journalism can be published on a daily basis! Bravo to all involved!

Great news source

Telegraph is my first choice in obtaining news, even though I live in USA. A wide variety of country specific “local” news, plus excellent international news coverage and editorials.

Add the excellent recipes and other coverage makes the Telegraph excellent value.

Only reason, not rated five stars; a print copy image duplication is not offered. Seeing it in print edition would make it much easier to navigate.

Back button where are you?

They layout of TheTelegraph is great. It reads like the newspaper. Congrats!

The problem is that when you are done reading an article and want to go back to the front page there usually isn’t a “Back” button anywhere to be seen!

Very annoying!

Searching for things not to like

As a reluctant and homesick ex-Pat I look forward to reading my online Telegraph every night. There are perhaps 2 things I would change.

1) I would have you publish many more of the extremely erudite and well informed letters to the Editor that I send your way.

2) more news and less opinion. How about choosing a different region of the British Isles to focus on each week and bring stories that aren’t so London -centric.? I would feel better informed if articles from Wales, the SW. the N.East and so on we’re featured not as commentary or opinion but just the facts.

Thank you

Current favourite source of news!

After becoming very disillusioned with the media and news in general we gave The Telegraph a fair free trial. We are now very satisfied monthly subscribers and we will continue to do so as long as they continue with their current high and intelligent standard of journalism.

Works well.

I get this for the puzzles, but read the news every night. No technical issues at all and it’s great to get a British point of view of the US news.
Would not change anything, but would like to see the price come down a bit.

Good news

I really enjoy reading the Telegraph every day on my phone — even though I live in the US. They recently improved the look of TheTelegraph , and it is even more enjoyable. And, considering the fine content, the price is certainly reasonable.

By

most authentic news

I pay $30 a month to read the most reliable news left. The Telegraph tells the truth straight up without opinion. I check the news on here throughout my day.

By

Daily Telegraph

The daily telegraph is an excellent resource for those in the United States seeking an unbiased outside view of world events. Thank you so much for being here today it provides up to the minute detail news that you don’t get inside the United States.

By

Easy reading

The new app is much easier to maneuver and scan for interesting articles. The layout allows for easier reading. I like the new layout. The content is obviously the same.

News from the other side of the pond

As someone once equipped, “Go abroad to hear news of home.” I always enjoy hearing the Telegraph’s take on world events but particularly ones in my own country. Excellent journalism, wide variety of views, interesting pieces.

By

VERY PLEASED with Telegraph App

Reads like the actual broadsheet so it feels like I have the paper in hand on my Ipad, quick downloads, smooth page turning and TheTelegraph forwards the eye catching articles easily. Best of both worlds...a truly authentic e-paper experience...

Balanced and Fair

I appreciate having the Telegraph app at my fingertips. Along with the Telegraph morning and evening podcast briefs, TheTelegraph gives me a comprehensive and balanced view of current affairs and culture. Well worth the subscription. I wouldn’t be without it.

By

Great way to stay informed

As a former resident of the UK, I want to stay informed about what is happening in my former home. The Telegraph app meets my needs wonderfully. This Telegraph also helps me gain access to a perspective that I don’t get frequently enough from US sources.

By

Fair & Balanced

Yes, we hear that all the time. However I see articles with all types of views. That is getting hard to find with the mergers of the news media.

Correct the Edition Date

For weeks now I have been expecting the Edition Date and day to be corrected from being that of the day before. I complained about this when you dumped the original App. There was nothing wrong, in my opinion, with the original and in many ways it was better than what replaced it. I can only speak as a consumer of course. So feel free to ignore this commentary as relevant but typical of IT attitudes to non IT plebs.
I have no wish to pursue matter this further.

The new app doesn’t download current issue

It can be days before an issue will download. The Belgian company that made TheTelegraph has responded “delete it and reload it.” That is their only solution. It still doesn’t work. I’ve tried to get help since the new app came out...but haven’t received any assistance. With the incredible amount of money you pay for a subscription, you’d expect to actually be able to read the paper.

By

What did you do to the puzzles?!

Please put the user interface for the puzzles back as it was! The menu button doesn’t work in any of them. The “pen” and “pencil” in the sudoku both seem to behave exactly the same, so,what good are they?

By

More difficult to use

This new version of the app does not allow you to Swipe to the left to move to the next story. After reading an article you must now go to the top of the page and tap “back” to return to the main page and then select another article. This change makes TheTelegraph much less readable.

Working pretty well for me

I have not experienced the iPad issues reported by other users, and do enjoy reading the next day’s news before bed like other expats have mentioned. I like keeping in touch with what is happening back at home, culturally as well as news.
Only thing that stopped working a few updates ago was the ability when doing the crossword puzzle to type out a whole word. Now I have to touch each square before entering the letter, which then will repeat the last letter typed before accepting a new one. Mildly annoying as it slows one down, but not the worst thing as it does still function albeit painstakingly.

The daily Telegraph

I live in Zimbabwe and am aged 80. My greatest daily joy is to wake up and read The Telegraph on my iPad. I rarely have a download problem. TheTelegraph is really wonderful for me and makes my life so much more pleasant. Not sure how I would cope in this ravaged country without this pleasure. Thank you.

By

Great but where is the general knowledge crossword?

Overall TheTelegraph is fantastic. Wherever I travel, the paper is with me and displayed in very readable and navigable format. We love the puzzle section but it never has the Saturday general knowledge. What’s up with that? How can app users paying a significant monthly fee get it? Help please?

By

Daily edition not available anymore

I’ve always been pleased with my subscription until recent changes made the current daily edition available. Sometimes it’s 2 days later. This only happened after they made changes to the digital editions. If this is an app issue I don’t know - but probably will be cancelling.

By

Best news source and best app

Love this paper, and TheTelegraph functions so much better than most news sources!! Highly recommend.

By

Why change the whole structure now??

Why did you change the whole look feel of the paper right in the middle of a national crisis? Folk like me who live abroad who rely on papers like the Telegraph for updates from the UK, and liked the familiarity of the old format. And you change it right when we really need you to be on point.

And you can’t get the day right? I download Saturday’s paper and it says - Today’s edition Friday 20th March.
Just downloaded Sunday’s and it says - Saturday 21st March.

Not good enough. Please fix.

Very good in parts

TheTelegraph itself is excellent once you get on. I've subscribed digitally for a year and the content is excellent. The Telegraph Is also the first of the London broadsheets to upload the new edition, so I can read it in New York before going to bed. However after the update of TheTelegraph in March, I was charged on iTunes several times for daily access, even though I have a current monthly subscription. I had to delete TheTelegraph and reload several times. My hope was that the Telegraph, Apple and TheTelegraph writers could get it together as it is time wasting and frustrating. Since it moved to the iTunes newsstand I've had fewer problems. Only today it's just not loading.

Massive step Backwards

The new app is really poor from a user perspective. Added nothing to the last version but look and feel is much worse. Lots of white space which makes it visually unpleasant. Also they took the opportunity to remove a bunch of content - I don’t know why.

By

New version

This updated version is dreadful. The old one was just fine. Now the paper doesn’t download properly and I can only get the previous days paper. Particularly when you are paying a lot for a newspaper this bad. Even worse, there help desk is no good at all.

Please get this sorted

Try it, you’ll like it

Great way to monitor developments in the UK - not sensational, but level headed and sweeping in its coverage of news and sports, with commentary, arts etc.

By

Great ap

Don't change anything...one of the few that have got it right!

Gone downhill since last App upgrade

Use TheTelegraph with a digital subscription but since the last update release it hasn't worked very well when used via an iPhone. If things don’t improve, I will consider cancelling my subscription.
