Countdown Buddy Reviews

All of the other apps out there have so much extra fluff, are packed with ads, have annoying pop ups, requests to sign up/subscribe... this has none of that. If you pay you get more widgets but it has everything I want and isn’t weighed down with extra crap. The only thing I’d add is a custom color picker.

Update: I actually just upgraded to the paid version. CountdownBuddy was fully functional even before the upgrade. No annoying popup ads, it had what I wanted, and was enjoyable without feeling like it was only half an app. Because I appreciated that I decided to get the pro version. It has a few extra features like more countdowns and layouts, but it’s more like a perk (and one I’ll enjoy and gladly indulge in to support such a great developer).

I downloaded a bunch of free countdown apps and this was definitely the best looking and easiest to use. I’ve been using it for a few weeks for a game I play where every few hours you can collect and item, and I’ve never had a problem resetting the time. Now suddenly the times won’t update to what they say in CountdownBuddy unless the widget is readded. The timer still work so I’ll see if this gets fixed, and if it does I’ll change to 5 stars, but if not I’ll have to delete for one of the other apps I tried that weren’t as good as this one used to be

I don’t know why people are saying you can only have one widget at a time... I just paid for it and already made 2 countdowns for my phone. Birthday on one page and weigh in day on my sexond page.

Just make sure to add them to your phones screens after each creation. Don’t make them all in CountdownBuddy and then try to add them because it will only show the most recent. But if you add them as you go you can have as many as you want.

Please make large widgets next!

My Company has me calculate a due (inspection check) date every day on each piece of equipment. This tells us if we have to pull an item out of service from the equipment being inspected. Example: it is less than the 150 days, 75 days, 60 days and/or 30 days etc. The widget due date should always move from todays date/time in real time. When the item falls within the date time action is required to remove and replace the item or defer the item to be replaced before the (drop dead) due date. Many items have multiple due inspection dates too so I need a widget for each date/time or a widget that calculates multiple (drop dead) due dates.

Can you make this in your app/widget program ?

Let me know when you will make this happen…or I will move on to another app.

I like CountdownBuddy and paid for the customization, which I like. It’s a very straightforward easy to use app. I’d really like a bigger widget to show more than one countdown at once. I can’t find a single app to do this. If I can’t have 1 widget with multiple countdowns at once I wish I could add more than one widget to my home screen. CountdownBuddy Store photos made me think that I could but you can only have 1 countdown widget up at a time and can switch between the countdowns you have set up. But again, would like to see multiple countdowns at the same time on my home screen.

Do I feel stupid! Apparently, I didn’t understand widgets as well as I thought I did. The developer was kind enough to reply to my review & set me straight. Upped my review to 5 stars. I’d give at least 1 more if I could for the speed & detail of CountdownBuddy maker’s response. Hope to see more from these guys.

Thank goodness I read the reviews before purchasing. 2 major faults in CountdownBuddy:

1) Apparently, you can only display 1 widget at a time. 🙁 If you want to display more than 1, buy another app.

2) Developer does not disclose this information. Sample views imply multiple countdowns onscreen at one time. Seems a bit dishonest, don’t ya think?! Rather an important issue mention in the description. 😠

Otherwise, this would be a 5-star app. Sleek app design. Plenty of options for a simple widget. Perfect for me & well worth the price.

I’ve tried a lot of countdown apps, but this is the only one I’ve stuck with. It’s easy to use, attractive, and the developer attests that they don’t collect any data. That last one is a big one in my book—too many simple apps collect tracking data they don’t need!

Even though it’s perfectly usable in its free form, buying the one time IAP unlocks great features and supports the developer.

Highly recommended!

So far, CountdownBuddy in terms of design is my favorite. I like the ability to customize and the overall simple designs without being cheesy. However, the reason I’m only giving it three stars is because my widget just stopped updating—it defeats the entire purpose of having CountdownBuddy . When I open CountdownBuddy , it has the correct number of days left but the widget on my home screen stopped updating three days prior. The only way I was able to fix it was by deleting the widget and re-adding it to my home screen. Please fix this!

I downloaded a bunch of different ones and they were hard to use, wouldn’t allow to make a widget without paying and would look wonky. CountdownBuddy was SO EASY to use. The widget looks exactly how I wanted on my screen and you only have to pay if you want a different design. Which I believe is a one time payment not a monthly subscription. CountdownBuddy is the best one if you want something simple and easy to use.

I have a once in a lifetime trip coming up and have been wanting a countdown to add to my home screen but most of the apps make you pay to just add the widget, but not this one!! For free you can add the widget change the color of the background or add a photo, it gives you so much that other apps won’t give without having to pay money! I love it!!!

CountdownBuddy is by far the best I tried. I love being able to use my own pictures and customize a lot of things. I liked it so much, I paid for it. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was that I was hoping with the paid version that I’d be able to do more things like customize the font and change other things about the text. The main reason to upgrade is to have more than 2 count downs which wasn’t what I was expecting.

So I don’t normally rate apps, but I felt like I needed to for this one. I love the fact that they offer a free widget app version. You obviously have to pay for customization but I was fine with being able to upload my a picture from my camera roll to use as my background. Definitely worth getting.

All I wanted was a very simple app with a decent UI that I didn’t have to pay for to get a countdown widget. This is the only one out of the five apps i’ve downloaded that actually delivers that. It’s still frustrating just How Much is behind a paywall which is why this review is not five stars, but for what I wanted it is plenty good enough and it’s the only one I’ve tried that even comes close.

After trying all other apps and not being able to put a widget on my screen this one allowed me to do it without purchasing anything or subscribing to anything. This is the kind of app that I needed, maybe now I will consider upgrading if I need something more

I love ur app but I found a bug that needs to be addressed. On punch card small view, when the last day is reached, the last dot stop showing in widget view but when you open CountdownBuddy you see it just fine. I would appreciate if you get it fixed, I also tried contacting on CountdownBuddy support but couldn’t send the email for a bug in the email module I guess.

After downloading five different apps, this was the only one to let me have a widget for free.
Although there are paid options available, it’s nice to have the ability to have access to a countdown widget without subscribing or paying a premium.

This is the best app for countdowns! They dont charge you and there’s lots of designs to choose from as well as you can add it as a widget on iphone which is so convenient you dont have to open CountdownBuddy to see how many days are left

I hope this message finds you in good health and spirits. 1. Sometimes the countdown starts counting up even though it’s counting down in reality and I have to reset the countdown in CountdownBuddy .

2. Sometimes they just freeze were counting down

3. When I update one countdown in CountdownBuddy it does not update the widget in my home screen

The circular countdown type is not useful because first of all it doesn’t consistently work and second of all there’s no standardized amount of time for the circle to be. For example one circle can be one day or one hour etc.

5. Can you make the punch cards shrink by each day so that you don’t see the unused days. I only want to see a number of punches that I have left. I don’t want to see all the days that are in the past

It’s an overall great app and gets the gob done. The only flaw is that to get the full best/experience I do recommend buying the countdowns+ because it gives a much better experience. Another nice little add on is that you can change the color of CountdownBuddy icon to match your phone or iPad. Overall I love it and it worked well.

Loved CountdownBuddy, but tried to change out one countdown for a new one, and now both of my homescreen widgets are just blank black boxes. Even in app, if I try to use one of the preset texture images, it doesn’t actually register, and only allows me to choose my camera roll images or a block color preset.

Pros:

- Good looking, easy to use UI
- The small widget is a nice way to display a countdown.

Cons:

- No support for a photo album as a background (eg, show a different photo every 15 min).
- No option to Open a URL when tapping the widget.
- The Medium widget display of photos needs to be changed. Now, CountdownBuddy forces you to square a landscape image before when you select it for a medium Widget. After that, CountdownBuddy takes the square and crops it to fit the landscape orientation of a medium Widget. It’s hard to predict what you will get. And, the image gets blurred. CountdownBuddy really need to be able to handle this better.

Wishlist:

- An option to point to a reminder or calendar entry as my countdown target.

I was looking all over for an app like this, most are either outdated or you have to pay for the widget... This though, has a great balance between the two.

The UI is simple and everything is smooth and cool looking.
I wish there was an option to enlarge title if it very short

Easy to use simple options

Directions are unclear on how to add widgets to the iPad. There is no “plus button” after the widgets start to jiggle on the iPad, only on the iPhone. Can you please clarify?

Love it. Can you please add count-up?

I downloaded CountdownBuddy to both iPhone and iPad. Added widgets to the iPhone but they do no show up on the iPad?
