JLab Sound Reviews

I got a set of these last week and was very sad when I couldn't use JLabSound after pushing the latest firmware to the buds. Thankfully, this is finally fixed. My only gripes are the following:
1. EQ bass freq isn't low enough, it's quite boxy if you try and customize for some more smooth bass. Not a biggy, but worth mentioning.
2. Accessibility with JLabSound using VoiceOver for blind users is a little cluttered. Things like customizing the controls can be tricky. EG: Track prev and next have no word for the action. It's just "track " and that's it. Just put track prev or track next. Also, can be a little confusing which bud you're working on. Thankfully this isn't my first rodeo with a functional but clunky feeling app with Voiceover. That said I am just glad JLab offers so much flexibility with these. I immediately disabled siri and have a very nice and clear layout of gestures, and an EQ I can deal with. Also the NC strength and Be Aware sliders are nice. Still, JLabSound could use some better labeling and layout for VO users.
Overall I'm grateful for this update. Keep up the great work.

Feels very basic, but there's also not a ton that can/needs to be controlled in the first place so that could just be me. I really wished the earbuds paused whatever youre listening to when you change to Be Aware/ANC or when they give you the low power notifications, because if I'm listening to something like a podcast or an audio book I have to rewind it every time it talks over what I'm listening to and it's really annoying.

Overall this is a really good app and really good headphones, they charge pretty quickly and stay in your ears. However I think there should be a feature “find your headphones”. Sometimes I lose them and they’re not easy to find, but with this feature it will show you where they are and how close you are to them. Please note this down at least 😊.

I just downloaded JLabSound, and I can’t even start to try to use it because every time I do, it says to “please connect device in setting.” JLabSound has access to my Bluetooth, the earbuds are connected to my phone and working fine. There’s no reason for this besides a problem from the developers. I’ve seen a bunch of other people say the same thing, and yet nothing has been done to fix this. I followed the instructions listed to try to fix the issue and it did absolutely nothing.

Seriously, pretty much every other wireless earbud apps work, but this one doesn’t. I have my earbuds connected to bluetooth, and thus I tried to connect them to JLabSound … only to find that I “need to connect them in setting”. I looked through every button in JLabSound , and only found a zip file, which I decided not to install. Thus, I couldn’t even be able to connect my earbuds to JLabSound . Seriously, if you’re gonna make an app for these earbuds, at least have it work.

I was fast losing faith in JLab over how they were handling this. Do they just not have the resources to handle this kind of tech?? The last update fixes MANY of the (honestly pretty horrible) issues in the last version. Thank you so much. Please keep it up, and my faith in this company will be restored.

The updated app connects and controls the earbuds as advertised. Settings changes save reliably.

This is more of a comment on the earbuds than JLabSound , but I hope they find a way to boost the ANC and update through JLabSound . The current ANC is worthless.

Goodmorning, the JLab ANC earbuds are epic however I am not able to connect to JLabSound at all. I have connected to Bluetooth to the headphones in settings and in JLabSound section of the settings the Bluetooth is connected. Yet when I go to JLabSound , I am still told that I need to connect the headphones.

App now functions as it should but from limited testing it appears it still does not save when I change my button inputs, leading me to take off a star. Glad JLabSound actually works now and changing buttons right before a use them isn’t a huge deal

Receive notice that “download FW Fail, check internet connection and url is correct “ Every time I attempt to update.
Have verified good internet connection. Do not know how to verify url is correct.
Do not waste your money. Ear buds are ok. Nice features for price point. But if you cannot unlock the features without a current firmware update, the features do not actually exist.
App is complete garbage. Would give zero stars if it was an option.

The new updated version properly works. JLabSound doesn’t crash, the controls are customizable and the auto play/pause is finally working like a charm. Now I can enjoy my Epic Air ANC’s like they were meant to.
Only giving 4 stars because this update took longer than it needed to.

App doesn’t work with headphone. Payed $70 for these air sports and can’t even use them to their full potential. Somebody fix this or I want my money back

Everytime I try to change the setting for my earbud it won’t set and you can’t use the press and hold function and everytime I do get the setting to change it does something completely opposite than what I have it set to. Also have the setting don’t even work for the touch setting needs fixed if your gonna offer it

Everything seems to be working with JLabSound and the associated headphones. I did have it crash on me once after initial update but hasn’t had problems since.

Works great, when it works. For some reason JLabSound doesn’t always recognize that the head phones are connected. Even after I just used JLabSound , close it and reopen it. It’s annoying but when it works it’s cool.

Whenever I go to JLabSound it tells me to connect a device in settings. I have a device connected, what is the problem. But from the other reviews JLabSound seems to work great. I just cant use it for some reason.

I just got my new ear buds in the Mail. They sounds great and JLabSound is awesome and allows me to customize what I specifically want for my new JLab ear buds. JLabSound lets you control the customizable EQ options. Great stuff JLab. Thanks!

Like seriously most all your earbuds say anc but noooo only the “epic” ones you can use for JLabSound , don’t even call JLabSound ANC then if you can’t use it with your ANC earbuds, fix it make it more compatible with your other earbuds it’ll make the sound so much better for all of them, simple.

Buggy, glitchy, laggy, take your pick. Worked fine for about a week, now it takes about 5 minutes for the earbuds to connect to JLabSound . When they do connect, none of the custom controls work.

I realize that it only works for a certain model but maybe if y’all can expand on what model can use JLabSound like the go air models I think it would be more sense because people just own the Go Air model more.

Auto play pause toggle does not work consistently. Customize control feature needs to be saved each time you connect, does not save previous settings. Touch sensors on device itself are too sensitive. Update shows available but does not download. Overall happy just needs improvements.

Wow! Been using my Epic Air for a week and loved the functions. Now JLabSound has so m any more ways to customize my sound. Been playing around with the active noise canceling for a while and was pleasantly surprised that it doesn’t give me a headache at the highest level like others have. I like messing with the EQ settings too and adding a bit more bass. Good stuff!

JLabSound was super intuitive and user friendly making it easy to use for someone not extremely tech savvy. I like that you can hear in real time adjustments being made to the audio making it super easy to change to suit what you’re listening to.

So I don’t have these headphones but I have the ones that go around your head I I want a app for those ones because my left head phone is not working so I need a app for those ones

Love JLabSound , especially the custom EQ feature. The only downside, keeping it from a 5 ⭐️ app, is that you have to reselect your custom EQ setting every time you disconnect/reconnect your headphones to JLabSound , even if you press the SET button after your selection. It’s kind of annoying, hopefully it gets fixed in a later version.

JLabSound is good there is a lot things to customize in it. With equalizer JLab air sound much better. But there is one thing that is missing. I can customize touch controls but there is no customization for a long press. If you can add this feature it would be really great

JLabSound 's features and what it is intended for is great, however, the settings will not stay once set. If I put my headphones back in its case, take them out later, all the settings are reset. I have to adjust my preferred settings every time I take them out of the case. JLabSound also indicates there's a firmware update, but won't let me initiate the download/install.

This is such a game changer for my JLab product. Being able to customize the touch controls & tech specs makes it so easy for my different genres of music, podcasts, etc.

Can’t wait to see what’s next!

I like these headphones - very comfortable and sound decent. JLabSound should tell you no update available rather than just looking like there’s an update to download. The sunlight auto pause issue renders these headphones only useful in the house or late night walks though... I’m hoping this gets fixed otherwise, I’d avoid theses headphones...

JLabSound is ok. However, there is no mechanism for in-app feedback to tell of problems. Also, more importantly, even with the latest update and auto on/off playback turned off, when my epic ANC sport headphones (over ear version), when there is full sunlight they still auto pause the music. This is very very annoying.

Very useful and easy to use. I’m not a big app guy when it comes to earbuds, but set these once to your own preferences and you are good forever.

One of the easier apps to use, and I love it. Mostly for changing the EQ but the controls are cool to play around with too

Has all the bells and whistles but doesn’t perform. Sound quality is subpar. App itself is glitchy and finicky. Really does next to nothing.

I love being able to customize my ANC, especially when I am on a call.

JLabSound refuses to recognize my earbuds, even though my phone is using them just fine. It tells me to connect the device in the settings, and that’s literally all JLabSound does. It will not see my earbuds and I am not sure what to do.
