The new update is horrible! It doesn’t update transactions in a timely manner. I was just balancing and ended up with several duplicates because it would not update transactions. Even after entering each one!!!! Finally the original transactions showed up which left me in a mess. Plus, before when you were working in a specific account, it put the transactions in that account. Now it changes to the last account where that particular place was used, which means I have to find where it went. I have several accounts which makes this frustrating. I honestly never know if my numbers are correct anymore. I refresh numerous times and it still isn’t right.

I’ve been using ClearCheckbook for years with no issues. Then there was a huge interface change and now it’s awful. The data entry points are tiny print and all over the place. So instead of just being able to enter the data, move down, enter, move down, enter...you have to click on this tiny box in a random place. Then to the left, enter. Then down and to the right, enter, then somewhere in the center. But worst of all, the balance and jived balances don’t update right away when you enter info. So it says the same balance for days. So instead of knowing how much you have, you think you have a certain amount and you don’t. I shared ClearCheckbook with my husband so he was entering what he purchased and I was entering what I purchased and we ended up spending the same funds twice because it didn’t reflect the correct balance. It wasn’t broken but they “fixed” it. And now it’s broken. Deleting it and finding another to use.

I’ve been using ClearCheckbook for a long time and liked it very much until the most recent update (July 2020). There are so many glitches now it’s virtually unusable! How FRUSTRATING after it being so reliable for years. When I create a new entry, it just randomly selects an account even if I’m in the account I want to work with and 90%of the time the entry just disappears. The transfer functionality no longer works and ClearCheckbook crashes regularly. Of course, the Contact Is link doesn’t work. I DEPEND on ClearCheckbook to manage my finances and now it’s just a piece of garbage! Did the developers have children work on the update? Do not even bother with this piece of junk now!

I used to love ClearCheckbook. But them they went and fixed what wasn’t broken and now it is broken. The new version makes adding new transactions excruciatingly difficult. The fields are tiny and hard to see. Most of the time my new transactions just freeze up and it only allows me to cancel not save. Categories cannot be accessed because the screen won’t scroll down. The date doesn’t automatically fill anymore and when you add one it doesn’t show up on the entry form. Finally, it is very difficult to jive transactions without opening them. Hate it! All the wonderful functionality is gone. Guess I’ll be deleting this once awesome app in favor of something that actually works. Don’t bother downloading this one guys.

I’ve been a user since the early 20-teens. Your latest summer 2020 app update is AWFUL. Please roll back to the old version of ClearCheckbook ! The new version is not synching properly or something, it’s completely useless for adding transactions or getting an accurate balance! Transactions added from other users are not showing up, jiving a transaction somehow posts it twice to the balance... it’s a mess. I have to do all the transaction entry in the desktop website, which I could do with just a regular spreadsheet. I have bounced transactions and incurred fees when going by ClearCheckbook balance which I update daily. Please please go back!! It was so much better before this update!

I absolutely love the website version of Clear Checkbook, but ClearCheckbook is absolute garbage. It fails to sync consistently which causes amounts to be off when viewing ClearCheckbook . It also fails to add charges across all devices which, again, causes amounts to be incorrect. What is the point of having a checkbook register app if it’s constantly incorrect? I’m just going to use an app that doesn’t have to sync with the cloud. Maybe I’ll check back in a year to see if ClearCheckbook has been updated to actually work or not, but I’m not using it for the time being.

I've been using ClearCheckbook for YEARS and have never had a problem... until this update. i don't know what the hell they were thinking. items are added but don't add to your transactions right away, they don't always get added to the correct account, deposits always stay at the top for the day even after you have entered other transactions... and I'm now stuck with a "no account" account i can't delete after accidentally adding a transaction without manually going in and selecting "checking account" even though I'd just entered fifteen other transactions into the same account without issues. just revert it, guys! there is zero reason to fancy it up.

The new update from December 10, 2020 is great I like the amount feature in the search I was always wondering why that wasn’t there. The only change that made things worse is when you hit the checkmark to reconcile a transaction it only changes a color slightly and it is very hard to tell the difference now between what is reconciled and what is not. If you could change it back to where it highlights the transaction in a green shade the entire box that is much easier to scroll through and see what is reconciled and what is not now it is very very hard with a slight change of color in the checkmark.

Ever since the most recent update, with the new improved app, after I post a transaction the little wheel continues to rotate constantly like it is uploading information or syncing information somewhere. It never stops spinning.
I’m uncertain if it’s trying to post the transaction I just made or if it’s syncing up my other devices, but this was not an issue prior to the update and the spinning doesn’t stop

I've been using the premium web version of Clear Checkbook for a few years now, and absolutely love it. I do use ClearCheckbook as well, but can find it frustrating at times.
For example, when I open ClearCheckbook , there will be a no name, no balance account at the top. So I slide my finger down to refresh, and it will goo away. On the web version I can start typing the Payee and it will autofill, and will give me multiple choices if several payees have part of the same name. But ClearCheckbook most of the time will not do that unless, again, slide your finger down to refresh. Then sometimes that will work. But my biggest complaint is, unless I don't see it, you can't save a screenshot of a payment (I.e. a confirmation number from paying a credit card bill) to your transaction. Except only if I use the web version on chrome on my phone, which gives me that option.

I love the web version, and I do recommended ClearCheckbook , it just ClearCheckbook has room for improvement.

ClearCheckbook has been updated recently. I have been using the paid version for several years. The IOS app take a while to add transaction if they get added at all. I refresh the screen several times to get it to update.

Cause of this issue me and my husband have several duplicates because the transactions are not syncing.

I like the updated app but there are still several bugs that has to be addressed. I have to use the online version to make updates. I hope this issue can be fixed.

I love ClearCheckbook. The only reason I give it four instead of five stars is because there is one update I would really love to see. I would love to see the ability to add photos to go with the transactions. For example if I were to go to the grocery store I would love to be able to put it in my clear checkbook like I normally would and then I would be able to take a photo of the receipt and attach it. Clear checkbook if you are reading this I would really love to see this update and if this update comes I will definitely consider changing my review from a four to a five star

I've searched and searched for a system to meet my personal bookkeeping needs and this is the only one I've been satisfied with. However, I would gladly pay much more for it if it could be linked to my online banking and automatically upload my transactions as Quick Books does for business bookkeeping 🙏🏼. Lately my app has been crashing. Please fix! I appreciate this app! I give this system 5 stars

This is the only checkbook register I have ever used, I believe since the earlier parts of 2008. No other software has such a responsive staff that supports the software title and it does exactly what I need it to do. I can track my transactions down from the time I execute my transaction or I can go back a couple days later and put my transactions in, then clear the transactions with my bank. The one feature I do not use is the link account feature. I have a paranoia that I do not like to connect my checking account or savings account to third-party software. So I cannot speak to the linking of the accounts, but, I am sure that it is a secure link and it will not jeopardize the accounts of those folks that use ClearCheckbook. I do pay the annual fee to which I think is well deserved by the staff and developer of the software. If the fee is required every year, I would continue to pay. I love the membership features that it offers as well as the additional controls that allow you to maintain accountability of your personal finances. I couldn’t be happier with a design of software that allows me to track my personal finances and the money I lent out to others. This is why I gave a five star rating. I highly recommend ClearCheckbook to anybody else looking to manage your money and the personal accounts.

I had spent a lot of time and even purchased various Checkbook applications looking for a replacement of an application I had used for many years. this app was hands down the winner! Great Mobile App, fantastic web platform and support for questions and functionality has been outstanding. Although the free version would be fine, I was happy to purchase the Premium version.

If you try ClearCheckbook, take full advantage of the features and functionality and you will be glad you did!

I have used this app for over 10 years to manage my finances, and being able to do it from my phone is incredibly useful. ClearCheckbook makes my life so much easier.

The recent redesign had some problems at first, and I was getting frustrated, but the developers have been working hard and seem to have cleared up those issues. The latest update is reliable and easy to use. I especially like how it can track my credit card balances and show me how much credit I have available.

ClearCheckbook currently will not add new transactions. I wrote Brandon, but it hasn’t been fixed and his work around suggestion for adding transactions does not work. I have a XR and have the most current iOS update (15.1). My work around was to add the web version link to my home screen. I really hope that all of this will not cause me to lose all my data! I will edit this review once it has been fixed. Update: Brandon was very proactive with apple and got ClearCheckbook running within a day. Thanks Brandon, you da man.

I’ve been using ClearCheckbook for years. It’s simple easy and free. I love that it syncs to an online version so I can use it on my phone or computer and I don’t have to worry about losing any information should my phone die without being backed up. They recently updated ClearCheckbook and there were some kinks for my iPhone, however I decided to email them about it and they responded almost immediately letting me know they were working on it. Within a week they had made the changes. All is smooth again. Really grateful for ClearCheckbook as it helps keep all my accounts in order! Would definitely recommend. Great customer service!

Function over visually pretty but I have searched for a long time for an app that my wife and I could share to keep track of our account balances and budgeting goals. I began thinking that one didn't exist and considered writing one myself until I found this gem. The web site is the best place to initially set up your accounts, bill schedules, etc. and the mobile app is great for keeping up with day to day tasks like tracking your spends. It doesn't auto connect to your accounts but the paid version does allow importing CSV, QFX, etc and can auto "jive" when it finds a match. Also supports "envelopes" and "debt snowball". Wish I would have found this before the effort I put into Excel over the years.

This service/app is perfect for the joint checking account I share with my college aged daughter who lives in another state. We share the register and immediately see each other's transactions both on the website and in the apps on our respective phones. I'm absolutely delighted with it. I would suggest a little better SEO to get some better exposure in ClearCheckbook Store and in the online search engines.
