I have been using this credit union for years. They have never been great and often make things harder than they should be, but this is on another level.
The old app never really had any real problems for me. I downloaded the new app and can’t even log in, same as everyone else here.
At this point considering just getting a new bank to save myself time in the future for when they do stuff like this instead of wasting time trying to figure it out.
CalCoast and the Coast Money app are slow to load. Any actions take an unreasonable amount of time to complete. I wonder how many customers have taken their banking elsewhere?

Holy mother of god. Nothing loads. Nothing works. CalCoast has made my account inaccessible. Get the tech right or we’ll be forced to use another bank.

Nine times out of ten, the login screen just spins and spins. I very rarely can get into my accounts through app. It’s horrible. I want the old app back.
Glad they decided to *update* from an app that worked to one the doesn’t. Makes no sense.
CalCoast is so ridiculous! It takes over 2 minutes EVERY TIME to log in. Makes me wonder what’s going on in the background while it tries to log me in. Very shady!
CalCoast is going to make me switch banks.
Not sure why they switched, the old one actually worked unlike this one. Can’t open on my phone, my laptop, nothing. Can’t make payments so not sure how they expect me to do it.
As of this new update I can no longer log in. It just spins and spins. This new app has been nothing but a pain. Before it needed multiple attempts to even log in as well. Can you JUST go back to the old app. No one wanted this
CalCoast is great when it actually works. Half the time the login screen doesn't load no matter if I close and restart CalCoast so I can't check my balances or make any payments. I wish they would've made sure it worked before they canceled the other app.
Was able to use CalCoast fine being forced to switch from the old one, now out of nowhere an update and now my account information won’t even load, have to go manually to atm, what’s the point of having an app just to not maintain the proper functionality of it
My app never loads!! Because of this I am never able to get onto CalCoast when I need.
Why even change apps? This one rarely even lets me log in. It barely works and it super slow 👎

i’m not normally one to leave a bad review on things, but i can’t even see my account information. anytime i click on CalCoast it just says “ERROR” and there’s a button that prompts me to exit CalCoast . i wish i could get the old version back , because it was way faster and easier to understand. i was excited for an updated mobile banking app but this is worse than the original…
Very frustrating, glitches galore!
I really want to support a local bank,but Jesus is there always issues on issues & this is like the tipping point, not only did I couldn’t log into CalCoast they make you download a new one ? Then you try and login and error codes, then I go to log into website nope they want you in online banking (are we not online?) so then the redirect you to some enrollment (idk how many enrollment things one bank needs) somehow another error occurrs & this point why does a bank have so much online issues, internal issues then also roll out a app that does not work properly ?
CalCoast runs extremely slow.
The login page alone takes around 5 min to load before I can even attempt to sign in.
It’s more of an inconvenience than anything.
I miss the old app.
I haven’t attempted to explore the new app yet because of how slow it goes. I’m not a fan of the layout either. Everything looks so close together vs how the old one gave you more space to read statements
Member for 8 years. Multiple accounts (checking, savings, CDs, credit card.. had vehicle loans previously) and CalCoast is so unusable I’m moving to another bank.
Mobile app is how I do 99% of my banking and CalCoast doesn’t work more than it works. It just spins on the sign-in screen most of the time when trying to login. It’s awful. The old app was 100x better than this new app.
I’ve been a loyal Cal Coast member most of my life and the issues with this new app are just a giant stain on my history as a customer here. I have been considering leaving this bank because of it! It’s that bad. CalCoast is slow, the UI doesn’t make sense, and the design is just terrible to look at. I’ve asked if I could switch back to the old system and the answer is no. I’ve asked if I could talk to someone in dev to voice my concerns and the answer is no. What is the point of a beta if you don’t take the concerns of the early users to make improvements? How could they screw this up so bad? I don’t get it.
I’m very upset with this new app there was no reason for there to be another app, the other one worked perfect with no issues. Now we all have to change our passwords, and that’s even if it allows you too, it is telling me the information I put in is not correct. I’m an extremely upset, none of the members were given a email notice or a letter in the mail. Now I have to wait til morning to figure this all out. They should’ve done a test run or something before giving us a whole new program that doesn’t even look modern. Just terrible, leaving a complaint here and when I speak with a service member tomorrow morning as well.
When I called the number that they give for tech-support regarding their new app, I was told that they are working on it. Personally, I think they should’ve done some testing before they rolled this out. I was told the legacy users are not gonna be able to be users if they don’t switch over to the new digital app, which is terrible. Tech-support person said they are aware of the problem yet instead of going back to the platform that worked they continue with the platform that doesn’t work. The only way I could even log onto CalCoast is I have to shut my phone down completely and restart it. So whatever conflict they have going on with all the other apps in my phone doesn’t give me much faith in their tech ability.
CalCoast is TERRIBLE. I open it to login…nothing. It takes three flips to actually get the login to work. There are times where I can’t login. I am actually considering switching banks after being a member for over 15 years because I can not access my account, nor can I deposit checks when I want to. Complete failure of a roll out. I wish I could curse and swear in this review as much as I do when I am using CalCoast. Seriously considering changing credit unions based on this incompetence.
This new app is a headache! Especially when your in a hurry and trying to access your money. It takes forever to load in on the login screen. It takes forever to get into anything inside CalCoast . Cal coast definitely needs to get this fixed before they lose long standing customers.
Not any better than the other app, but at least the other app would load. If you are forcing everyone to switch to this one than you'd think CalCoast would actually work. Super frustrating.
Update: still nothing has changed. I can't login to my account. I was forced to switch to the new app as the other one stopped working for me.
The first forced rollout of the new banking app was already a disaster, so we went back to the original app. This second launch, while better than the unusable first launch, is still awful to deal with. Constant updates and down time. It may be worth keeping CalCoast under development until it is genuinely a completed service
I’ve had this new app for two months now, and I have had nothing but problems it hardly ever works. We have been members for over 10 years never had any problems with the old app then they changed it and I have nothing but problems every single time I login. my husband and I are going to have to find a new bank. It’s really sad because we used to love Cal Coast.
CalCoast is the actual worst. The original app was sooo much better. This one never loads, I’ve had it like a month and a half and have already had to do 2 updates for it, takes forever to open or load or do anything. Just awful. Almost makes me want to leave this bank as I can do nothing from my phone even tho have been with them 5+ years. Terrible app. Absolutely terrible
The old app wasn’t great but at least it worked. Now I never know how much money i have because it takes 6 attempts to log in, deleting and redownloading CalCoast , and then resetting my password every time I want to see the $3 I have in my bank account. It is impossible to contact the bank about these issues either. At this point I might just close my account and find a bank with an app that works. I hate big companies but at least they can reliably tell me all the ways they screw me over.
I was forced to update to new version, this new version has been so frustrating, slow to load or won’t load at all. I’ve had to call 3 times to get it unlocked because for some reason it won’t log me off the previous session and when I try to log in again it won’t let me, until it locks me out. I sure hope this gets worked out, or go back to the old app!
CalCoast is junk and does not improve upon the old app. As others have said, it is very frustrating and often fails to open. Here I am trying to transfer money and CalCoast is unavailable…again. I have several accounts with this app and the thought has crossed my mind to bank elsewhere. I am extremely disappointed. Then again, this app has never struck me as being tech savvy. Zero stars if I could.
Don’t understand why you created this new application when the old one worked fine. The developers don’t know what they are doing with this and it’s always glitching out. Why release something partially finished. I’m on the go and need to be transferring money hour from hour and not being able to get into to my scoring because a “we are experiencing issues right now” is horrid. What type of bank allows this to happen?
Has anyone else had issues connecting 3rd party apps to their cal coast account after switching to the “new” banking experience? I can no longer connect my cal coast account to Venmo or Coinbase. I think it’s an issue with the connector all these apps use which is Plaid. These apps allow me to connect the cal coast account but when you go to actually buy something or send money the account cannot be used. This was not a problem before switching
This new app is terrible! Where’s the quick balance? I have multiple accounts… where did the dropdown menu go so I can choose which one to log in to? Why won’t it let me login when I open CalCoast … it just shows the loading circle. But why did they design CalCoast with font size 4? I go in the branches, I know not every member has the eyesight of teenager. I’m disappointed in you this app, your design team did not think a lot of things through before pushing this out.
Tons of lag. Have to try to log in multiple times their error with my address I was Locked out of account finally go issues after 3-4 separate attempts and a week and being forced me.s half later sorted out to be able to cash check from work and now can’t figure out for the life of me how to transfer money from one of my accounts to who I pay my rent to hopefully th ey are understanding enough to not penalize me for being late if they happen I’m done and switching to another bank
Been banking with cal coast for going on 11 years and they have been smooth but this new app is horrible. It hardly ever works and you won’t be able to login unless you’re willing to wait 15 minutes while CalCoast loads. If you aren’t already banking here please do yourself a favor and don’t open an account. If you’re a plaid user then your account will disconnect from the server every couple hours. I’m giving it 2 more weeks before I just officially close this account down for good!
The new app is terrible. It lags every time I open it. I just get the dreaded spinning circle and it just won’t open. I have to go in and close it all the way and reopen it multiple times just to check my balance. Why would you release a new version that obviously does not work! The old app worked perfectly. There was nothing wrong with it. Please update CalCoast so it actually works.

This new app for online banking is super slow. Sometimes it just spins starting CalCoast . May have to change banks just because of this.
I would like to log into mobile. I want the old app to be able to work since the new one is broken.
All it does is load and load on Home Screen to log in and then you finally get to log in and it loads and loads then nothing.
Fix your app please…. Or let us use the old the one while this one doesn’t function…

I’m entering my information correctly to enroll on the new app and I keep receiving an error message saying my information doesn’t match your records. This is unacceptable!!!!!
This new app is completely useless, can’t even log into my account. They should’ve just left the old app, at least that one worked.
So slow. Just updated yesterday and now it won’t log me in at all. Keeps giving me an error message that my login is incorrect which it is not. So frustrating!
Very crappy “upgrade” even the old app was better still does not look good at all and gives you issues when you try to log in. Cal coast needs to do better
Never received notice of any kind that original app would not longer work. Not ok! Downloaded CalCoast and it keeps saying I’m entertaining wrong info. I know I’m not. I know my birthday! Family members are having same issues.
I don’t know why they had to make a new app the old one was fine and now I can’t log into the old app and have to use the new one but it won’t let me long in. I have to pay stuff today and it’s making it difficult so I don’t know anymore!!
What else is there to say? The old app was also awful but we acclimated to it. New app won’t recognize any of my info and so now we get to see how long it takes to get someone to fix an unnecessary problem that CCCU decided to create for us. Honestly considering closing the account over this.
I cannot sign in. I tried using the info from the old mobile app first. Got an error, then tried to enroll as it says in the email, got an error from that as well I can’t even use the new app because I can’t get in. Can’t go in to the physical location because it’s Sunday. On top of that I can’t check my balance on the automated phone line which is supposed to be available 24/7 but for some reason it’s unavailable today. It is Sunday, but isn’t it supposed to available 24/7? Isn’t that the purpose of having an automated system? I regret signing up for this stupid test mobile experience. You would think I’d still have access to the old mobile app in case of glitches & errors such as this. But no, whoever strategized this didn’t think it through fully. I am now inconvenienced and cannot access my money.
It’s been three weeks and I can’t even log into CalCoast . I have called customer service 4 times. I have tried everything, still can’t long in. The previous app worked perfectly fine and I am at a loss as to why they even switched.

CalCoast looks pretty much the same a the old one. However, the old app was way faster, but of course, we can’t get back into that one.

This is in no way an upgrade. The UI looks like they put a 4k filter on 2005 hardware. Please update CalCoast to be more intuitive. I left this credit union years ago for better banking infrastructure. The credit unions are far and few in between the their Apple Pay software almost never works.
This is horrible, so slow! Signing in is soooo slow ! Checking balance and transactions take so long I’ve had to not buy something because I couldn’t move money over! Sometimes when checking transactions they won’t even load! CalCoast is so horrible it makes me want to switch banks tbh !

Should have tested this a lot more prior to releasing CalCoast. I get that they’re trying to be more modern but fix the slowness. It takes a really long time for the account info to show up once you input your log in info then once in CalCoast to view account details it takes forever as well. Desktop site is not much better either. This is horrible.
I NEVER review an app, product, service I think you get it, but CalCoast is the most ridiculous app that I have EVER tried to use. Half the time you can’t access it, or it takes what seems like forever for the page to open. Please fix CalCoast asap or at least go back to the other one.
I’m on hold with customer service as I’m leaving this review. Not only did they l this new ‘upgrade’ cause me to lose money because how complicated it is but I can never log in- most of the time there’s a issue and it’s not user friendly. Also I’ve been waiting to hear back from a ‘manager’ since Sept 🙄.

CalCoast crashes way too much, loading times are very long, and logging in seems to be impossible sometimes. The old app worked so much better. I’m considering changing banking organizations because of the major inconveniences of this garbage app.
CalCoast is the absolute worst. The last one wasn’t exactly shnazzy but at least it worked.

Getting to login the first time was challenging for a fairly tech savvy person. If you are not, or someone older, it will be mission impossible.
This mess is enough for me to close my account with a healthy balance and consider going elsewhere.

Not sure why they updated their Cal Coast Mobile app to this new one. Worst decision they could’ve made. It’s very slow, there’s always updates with no fixing of the slow loading, and it’s not user friendly when searching up transaction history. I’ve been a member for so long but think I’m going to finally cancel my membership do to CalCoast. I do the majority of my banking online and this is not going to work.
This is the worst app I’ve ever used. On the rare occasion that it actually opens up, it is insanely slow. But again, it’s slow from the beginning and many times doesn’t even open to begin with.
I felt like the old version was much more straightforward and easier to use. While this may just take time getting used to, it’s hard to get used to when it never works.
Nothing about it is snappy or reactive - buttons don’t acknowledge they have been clicked till after I click again, no feedback from buttons - layout of accounts is hard to read, and transaction list is too short and to extend you have to manually select date ranges which is slow and dumb feeling
CalCoast doesn’t even load half the time snd when it does load, everything is slow. Should have never changed CalCoast 👎 old one was better
CalCoast is so much slower and less user friendly than the previous one used my Cal Coast Ceedit Union. What a downgrade for user experience and interface design. I’ve had to delete and re-download CalCoast every single time I want to access my account to check balance or do the simplest transaction. What a shame they made the move to this garbage!
I made the worst mistake by enrolling in this new app thinking it was mandatory. It’s very slow, and now I can’t connect my business and personal accounts together to transfer money. I have to call or go in person to do so, which is very inconvenient. If you’re looking for convenience, CalCoast is NOT it.
Another update and another screw up and now I can’t do outside transfers AGAIN thanks after weeks of of not working then finally getting it fixed, u screwed it up again with another update I new I should’ve of updated this time.
This is the worst and slowest app I have ever had on my mobile devices. I have banked with this bank for decades but am thinking of changing due to the new app. It makes banking painful. It is better to go into the branch to do business.

I was so excited for a new modern version of CalCoast , hoping they would make it look sleeker and more user friendly. Unfortunately what we got was really bad lag for all transactions or page clicks and CalCoast is just as old looking as the previous one. If I had one big complaint it really is the lag, if they are making us switch to a new one I would hope it’s running 100% well before the involuntary switch.
The Cal Coast online banking app made me set up login credentials and external transfer accounts just like a brand new customer would have to do. I do not see any benefit to the change and would consider this a downgrade of the old system.
It works about as cruddy as the last app. I hate that I still can’t see the routing number and account numbers for my accounts on CalCoast . I don’t understand what the big secret is but maybe that’s just me. I just think it would make using the bill pay easier as merchants usually ask for those when setting it up. I also dislike how long it takes to load anything and your balance is never accurately shown. You have to wait a week and not spend anything for it to be accurate which is really inconvenient when you live in a capitalistic society and you have to spend money to survive. Lastly can we please get more features like creating new accounts, and maybe even hiding some if we would like. That doesn’t mean taking away access to them online but it means keeping them outta sight outta mind. Just food for thought.
Several third party apps sync with the use of Plaid. The old CCCU mobile site was able to sync via Plaid. This allowed you to auto load transactions to accounting platforms. This new app does not allow Plaid to verify your account causing a member to have to download transactions to a excel spreadsheet to upload into the platform or manually enter your transactions. If you have a high volume account this is SO time consuming. The new mobile app was to improve usage and this is going backwards to the old days. Contacted CCCU and there isn’t a sense of urgency to fix this issue. HMMM member service should be the priority.
Not any better than the old app in anything that matters. It looks better when it’s not being cut off by the dynamic island on some screens. But it actually runs slower than the old app. I sit waiting for minutes, my phone screen literally shuts off while I wait for it to login.
I regret signing up to be a tester and I almost regret banking at CCCU because this is not the only tech of theirs that seems archaic.
CalCoast is modern and it’s easier to see all of the features. However, I do miss the Quick Balance feature. The Quick Balance essentially… made things quick (lol) and easy. I feel CalCoast would be 5 stars if it had that.
Pretty satisfied. Can do all the day to day things I need to like view my balance, see where I’m spending or getting money from, deposit checks etc. Slowness now and then, but hasn’t been a major issue for me.
CalCoast is a bit slow, but it gets the job done. I wish I could select which accounts I want to see and hide the ones I don’t need to see all the time. Other than that it functions as it is supposed to. I would like to say that the sign in speed has gotten a little faster since I first downloaded CalCoast , so that is a step in the right direction. I love you guys, you always have great customer service! Thanks you for all your hard work!
I love the improvements the Cal Coast Team is doing! The performance has gotten a lot better! I like the design it feels very modern. Keep up the good work Cal Coast- Thank you for being such a strong partner of the San Diego community
I am happy with the added functionality, clean navigation and layout.
I like the new features and layout. CalCoast seems to get better and quicker every time I login.
Nice to see the progress Cal Coast is making with our new app. A great credit union doing great for its members.
Early adoption apps mean you get to try the new technology and be on the cutting edge of advancement in user experience. That also means hiccups will occur and bugs need to be discovered before they can be fixed. The team at this app has been very receptive to feedback and clearly wants to make CalCoast the best user experience possible. Kudos for trying to be better!
I was skeptical initially when I saw the email for a New Digital platform for California coast. I have been a member for 10 years and was hesitant to change my Cal Coast app. But when I followed the instructions from the email and enrolled the first time it felt very modern. I like the layout they built. I feel like it’s very modern and in-line with where the big banks are going.
I experienced a spinning icon but swiped my app out and clicked it again and it worked great!
I know it’s a newer app but I’m proud to be an early adopter of the New app. Keep working and improving CalCoast . Im likening the new features.
Coming from the previous app, it certainly takes some time to adjust to. But overall, the new app does seem to provide more feature functionality. They also seem to be continually developing CalCoast whereas nothing really changed with the old app. The ability to view my card details and submit a dispute through CalCoast are nice features that were not available in the old app. The optionality around card controls and travel notifications is also superior in the new app.
From downloading CalCoast to enrolment was extremely user-friendly quick and easy. Well done, Cal Coast.
