Feels rushed, app unresponsive

I have used several guided hypnosis tapes over the years. This doesn’t seem more effective than the other ones, many of which are cost less to access. The guidance in this one is hurried. He’s like “Imagine this. Do you have it? Good.” and then goes on to the next instruction. It takes a little longer than that to get into the zone! Also I have consistently experienced Reveri to be unresponsive to the verbal cue “okay” when that is what is requested. It takes me out of the hypnosis every time. That doesn’t seem to happen with the “yes”/“no” cues. I can’t imagine my voice is less understandable when I say “okay”.
I wouldn’t pay for a long subscription. There aren’t enough hypnosis tracks, they are much too short, and they aren’t noticeably different from the good stuff on Insight Timer. Also kind of irritating that in plugging Reveri on some podcasts Dr. Huberman referred to the cost as nominal. I suppose on a Stanford neurologist’s salary it is, but the vast majority of people in this country make under 50k. “Nominal” is relative, and his salary os not relatable.

Helpful

I truly appreciate Dr. Spiegel sharing his passion and expertise. I originally gave Reveri low marks but as I have practiced his techniques more, I now understand how valuable Reveri is. In addition to using the resources on Reveri I find myself expanding the sessions with my own guidance and suggestions or just using the technique he teaches without guidance from Reveri at times. I do not particularly like the voice recognition and interaction, I find it distracting as is the rating system. However overall I think this is a very important app for mental health and well- being.

Free

Honestly the reviews are disappointing. Giving an app a one star rating because it is no longer free is not fair. Reveri is supposed to be rated based on performance and what it does for you. If you used it and benefited from it while free be grateful for the experience and $99 doesn’t sound to bad for a lifetime given the benefits you get from Reveri compared to other trivial and useless things we spend our money on. Plus the creators put in time and effort to make this and a lot of research as well. Sacrifice for the good is worth it.

Very Helpful!

I learned about this app through a podcast & was intrigued about the possibilities it had to help with sleep. Testing it out for my sleep issues, I had good results. But the real test came shortly later, when a previous painful medical condition returned. At first when using the self-hypnosis through Reveri , I experienced positive results. But as I continued use , I was quite surprised on how much it helped with my pain management. I’m now a believer of the benefits of self-hypnosis. Thank you, this app.

Like a quick fix for your brain

I love the simplicity of Reveri and that it’s backed by neuroscience. I use it almost daily for quick breaks when I’m stressed or need to focus and it’s like a mini reset.

From my experience it’s even more powerful if you also have a regular meditation practice.

Definitely recommend getting Reveri!

Great way to experience self hypnosis at home

I’ve been using hypnosis in my practice for several years. This is by far the best app available for self hypnosis at home with interactive functionality. I look forward to watching it grow and be more versatile as a stand-alone device or an adjunct to therapy with patients.

Clean and Simple - Helpful

I like how quick and simple Reveri is. And the interactive mode is almost like the doctor is in the room with you. I really enjoy that there are not 3000 options actually. This keeps me focused and helps me with very specific intention and effectiveness for my day in my work.

Jet pilot approved.

In flight school you use simulators to practice dangerous problems in a safe environment before you confront them in the real world. Reveri is a life simulator. You can practice negative emotions, desires, and other problems and confront them in a safe environment before you confront them in the real world. Game changer.

They erased their reviews

Reveri used to be free and I really enjoyed it and being able to recommend it to clients back then to help them with sleep and various other challenges.

Then they shifted to a paid model and I can no longer recommend it to my folks. After they switched to a paid model sometime in the past month or so, they were getting many low ratings on Reveri and negative reviews, but lo and behold, they’ve all been erased. It doesn’t seem like an ethical practice to erase all the feedback folks gave.

Hypnosis is for everyone :)

Whether you know anything about hypnosis, or not, Reveri can help you learn how to focus better, creatively problem solve, and feel relaxed while being intense. This is an amazing app and recommend it to everyone.

By

Incredibly Helpful

I use Reveri frequently for help with stress and focus. Each session I do, I feel more relaxed and have a clearer mind. The concepts are easy to understand, Reveri user friendly, and sessions are a perfect length.

Should be a free version

Very disappointed that this free app is now so expensive. Wasn’t this developed with tax dollars out of some university?? Why can’t there be a free version since US users already paid for it? Maybe some basic content available at no cost or user get to choose one topic/category for free and then pay if they want more. Seems greedy to require users to pay for all of the content when only one or two topics are desired.

Not impressed

I really wanted this to work, I’m fan of huberman and def excited to try out hypnosis. Tried a few,it felt rushed and talkative. I was less focused after the session than before. I teach meditation so I’m pretty familiar w this type of thing and again really wanted it to work. Maybe I’m just not able to be hypnotized.

By

Keeps getting better

I appreciate that Reveri is getting weekly updates now. Thanks for making a good thing even better!

By

Voice queues counterproductive

If you want to sleep and are in bed with someone else, Reveri is worse than nothing. The meditation experience is constantly interrupted by having to click buttons and stare at a screen. Having a continuous mode with no prompts would be much better than clicking buttons or talking while my partner is asleep.

By

Awesome for problem solving

I use the focus section nearly every day and love it. Also- their customer service is fantastic. I highly recommend

By

Truly outstanding

After one session I can clearly see the benefits of Reveri. Unquestionably the minimal amount of time (and $$$) devoted to practicing on a regular basis will lead to more equanimity and focus.

By

Grateful

I wish I had turned to science backed solutions for my mental health along time ago but I’m glade I’m doing it now. I am grateful to have Reveri to support me in my healing.

By

app pauses for no apparent reason

Reveri keeps pausing during sessions so when you are trying to focus and get into a session you have to keep looking at your phone. kind of the opposite of relaxing or helpful. i have tried with airpods and without. phone on DND and phone in regular mode and it still happens.

By

Helped tremendously

I know there’s some contention around new pricing model, but it’s still well worth it for the clarity Reveri brings to my life

By

A lot of potential

I’m giving this 3 stars just based on potential because I think this could be great. I meditate daily but for some reason am not able to really do self-hypnosis.

Two things on Reveri ’s end that will throw you off though:
- there’s a brief pause between the speaker asking you a question and Reveri accepting microphone input, so sometimes you need to repeat yourself which seems to break the flow
- Reveri doesn’t play sound while the phone is locked, so if your phone auto-locks mid session, it just stops

By

App hangs up

App asked question then seemed to freeze. Prior question answers worked ok. Reveri should have the option for user to listen to the long preamble once, then in subsequent sessions listen to only the induction segments. Induction segment should also be slimmed down to eliminate long explanations and should focus primarily on the functional portion of the induction, i.e focus on the portion that actually inducesbthe hypnosis and imparts the benefits

By

Great concept

Great concept and really want to use Reveri . In the past versions I hadn’t been able to use it at all due to issues with Reveri . Now I can use it but the ability to respond by voice doesn’t work. I have to open my eyes to advance to the next part of the exercise which makes it ineffective and distracting.

By

Simple but powerful

Been using the hypnotic minute daily and I’m shocked to find how cumulatively effective it is. I haven’t had any buggy issues with app. Its been working well.

By

Great

I love it, but lately it’s been freezing up on me. The answer section will not respond and freeze up.

I know once those bugs are ironed out it will be a great app.

By

Wow, I am impressed

Reveri is more than great self hypnosis sessions. It’s an ongoing education about yourself and learning new ways to deal with anxiety, insomnia, chronic pain, and so much more!

By

Not enough substance

Too much preface and talking. I wish u could go straight into the exercise and just get pure guidance, not get ready let me explain 1 2 3, ok now 1 let me explain again, 2 let me explain that again too... etc bummed

By

Not being able to close phone….

Is a dealbreaker. It’s night. I’m going to sleep. Every other similar audio driven app has this basic function.

By

It Died

Last iOS update seems to have killed Reveri . Deleting.

quit working

It Quit just a spinning circle for days is that self hypnosis ?

Gee, I was so hoping to read some good reviews. Disappointed that things are not running smoothly. I just watched Dr. David Spiegel podcast with Dr. Andrew Huberman on YouTube. I am in pain and was hoping for better reviews on this app. Please let me know when/if it gets better.

It always stops receiving microphone input after about three minutes.
