Over the last couple of years I've been adding houseplants all over our home. It's hard to keep track of all the watering and fertilizing... I downloaded PlantIn to help me track everything and give me plant care advice, and it's been awesome so far. Feeling like a plant mom now. Recommend PlantIn to anyone who is a gardening enthusiast or wants to become so. Also, it's helpful for those who have no idea on how plant care works - PlantIn gives detailed instructions and cure plans for various types of issues. I downloaded the paid version for myself, because I wanted to immediately try all the benefits of the service. In this version, an unlimited number of plants in the list are available, an unlimited ability to recognize plants, expert help and cool wallpapers for your phone. The program has never let me down, although I have used it at least three times - my house plants did not want to bloom in any way. The guys told me what I was doing wrong, I followed the instructions and was able to cure my pets. This is very cool - if not for the detailed answer from the experts, I would most likely just kill my plants. And so - now they are blooming, standing next to me 😃

Really Difficult to Cancel Subscription

I am not one to typically leave reviews, but this has been especially challenging for me and I hope that the company can read this and make some changes or someone else who is passionate about plants and wanting to learn more can proceed with caution. I really support the idea of PlantIn , and think that with some changes to the payment system it could be a helpful idea,However, I have been trying to cancel my subscription for many months and PlantIn would continue to charge me weekly even when under the settings of PlantIn it says I am not subscribed. So, that means there were many months that I was paying for PlantIn and not able to use it. As a student who budgets my time energy and finances extremely meticulously, this was infuriating at times. It felt violating and really shady. I ended up needing to contact Apple to be sure that my subscription was removed.
This was gas money, food money, and how I was supposed to meet my basic needs. I do not have nine dollars for times a month to spare for a "donation" I did not sign up for.

Very disappointed in this -
maybe The company could issue me a refund as I was not able to use PlantIn during the time that I was paying for it. if that happens, I would be happy to make an addendum to this review. Otherwise, I recommend highly against purchasing PlantIn.

Be aware of in-app purchases!

I am told after the fact that in-app purchases are processed separately, and they do not issue refunds for erroneously made purchases!! Unfortunately, I can’t say that I have had much opportunity to make use of PlantIn yet, but so far it seems adequate. I do, however, take issue with the response I received when I asked for a refund of a extraneous billing. I signed up early Jan for the free 3 day trial. Before I was charged anything, I upgraded to a lifetime subscription and was promptly charged. A couple days ago, I received a receipt for two separate charges in addition, which reflected two separate weeks of subscription on top of the lifetime subscription. I immediately sent a message inquiring about the charge to which I received this response: “The lifetime account is a one-time in-app purchase so it won’t be listed in the subscriptions list while the subscription is a recurring payment so they are processed separately. …Please be advised that according to our Subscription Policy, all purchases are non-refundable. Please be advised that agreed to the terms when you paid for the subscription. We are sorry if this brings you any inconvenience and would like for you to consider making use of the situation by trying out our service.” I received a similar response when I attempted to clarify the error. BE AWARE!!

It would be 5 stars if it worked like the ad shows

I do love PlantIn.. but I paid for the premium version and almost immediately got it refunded because it didn’t work how the ad showed.

In the ad it showed you could scan the plant and it would tell you if it needs more water or not. After getting PlantIn and looking through it I thought maybe I needed the premium for it to do that. I got the premium and was sad to find that the premium only added the ability to scan the plant to identify any diseases or sickness it may have. But there was no way to scan to see if it’s over watered or under watered like the as showed.

I still use PlantIn cause it does help me keep track of when I should water each plant and scan to find what type of plant it is and learn a bit more about it. I am just very disappointed because I was excited and mainly downloaded PlantIn for the ability to scan to see if I’m over watering or under watering my succulents. I hope PlantIn will soon be updated to have this ability like how the ad shows. If that change is made I’ll bring it up to 4 stars! If you don’t have to pay for it since it doesn’t mention that part in the ad then I’ll give 5 stars!

All the info you need

My husband and I bought the plant for our son 3 months ago. He wants a dog, but we decided that he still needs to learn responsibility. The agreement was that if the son can take care of the flower for a long time and he feels good, then we will buy him a puppy. Our son is a very kind boy, he tried very hard, even talked every day with his flower. But something went wrong. First, yellow spots began to appear on its leaves, and then they began to fall off altogether. Our son was crushed, he became attached to this plant. We didn't know what to do in this situation and how to help him. Then we downloaded this app. To be honest, we didn't expect it to help. But how wrong we were! The experts were able to figure out the problem simply from the photo and told us in detail about the reasons for its occurrence and how to fix it. Besides, they helped us draw up a care plan for the future. The leaves of the flower have stopped falling off and in general, it looks much better. Our son is very happy. Thank you so much!

Updated, do NOT recommend, waste of money

PlantIn is helpful. The watering schedule has improved the health of my plants and the ID feature works well. The sickness diagnosis does not work very well and the notifications only show up about 30% of the time. The notifications were the biggest selling point for me and now it’s hardly worth it. A notification app where the notifications don’t work isn’t worth $50 to me.

Update after about a year: notifications never work. I’ve reinstalled, checked settings, there appears to no explanation for why I never get notifications for when to water/fertilize. This morning I tried to identify something growing near the base of my ivy and as usual, the automatic identifier didn’t come up with anything. I started a message to the botanist for help and every time I hit send got an “unknown error.” This happened about 6 times, restarted PlantIn , same error persisted. Eventually, after hitting send, I was directed to the page asking me to pay $20 for help service. Apparently my $50 premium lifetime membership doesn’t include help? This overpriced, broken app keeps asking for more money for what? Additional broken services? Reduced rating to one star.

My love

To tell the truth, I started growing plants quite recently. I've always liked it when there is a lot of greenery in the house. It is pleasant and pleasing to the eye. The room immediately looks much more comfortable. But I was scared that I would not be able to cope. I have no acquaintances who could explain how to properly care for them and what to do if they get sick. But I downloaded PlantIn and everything turned out to be surprisingly easy. They drew up a competent plan for caring for my green pets, which saved me from unnecessary worries. Also, I am a very forgetful person, but there is a possibility of reminders. Notifications come regularly and without interruptions, so there is simply no way for me to forget about something. Now my house is full of greenery, and you can say that I live in my dream home. I am very happy, thank you very much for a stress-free life. I hope that I will not have any problems, but if they do, I know who to turn to.

Best app ever

To be honest, I have never developed plants. I already thought that there was some kind of evil eye on me. Whichever plant I buy, it always withers after three months, even if it was a succulent that hardly needs watering. It seems to me that only a cactus would not be wilted, but I do not really like cacti. So I kept trying and this time I got a ficus. I found out the seller all the details about his departure and did everything right, but the ficus also began to fade. I was already completely desperate, but then I found out about this application. I photographed my plant and the experts helped me solve the problem. It turns out this time it was not about me. Pests have started on the ficus. It's good that they helped me to cure my plant and get rid of them. Now it grows further. I hope everything will be fine with the plant. What a pity that I found out about PlantIn so late. I could have saved all the previous plants as well.

Very good

I was recently presented with a small money tree. I really wanted to raise him. I watered it a little and exposed it to the light, but it still didn't grow. Saved my plant

A money tree is growing in my apartment. To tell the truth, it has been growing in our house for as long as I can remember and there were no problems with it before. But recently my cat dropped it. The pot broke, but the plant itself was not badly damaged. I transplanted it into a new one and thought that everything would be fine, but its leaves began to fall off, which made me worried. To be honest, I'm just a disgusting gardener and I don't even know how I ended up with a plant. I was just shopping at the supermarket and decided why not. Helped me a lot

Subscription wouldn’t cancel and kept charging me $8 a week

I’ve never given a bad review of any app ever. I’m so mad! I had been really excited about PlantIn, but immediately found it didn’t fulfill what it had described to be able to do. So I immediately canceled. When you cancel a subscription during the trial period, it should NOT keep charging you!!! I canceled my subscription in the trial week (the SAME DAY I first used it) after finding PlantIn did not fulfill its claims. They have still been fraudulently charging me $8 a WEEK for an app that was of NO USE to me and therefore had canceled right after signing up. Ive written them to ask them to look into this and to please refer to their records more carefully and refund these unauthorized charges going all the way back to May. I again tried to cancel again, but have no guarantee they won’t keep charging me. I found out I’m not the only one this happened to. I feel cheated and tricked. I’m considering a lawsuit if this is ignored if even for the principle of the matter.

All my life I have only grown cacti. All my other plants were withering away. Even if friends went on vacation and asked to look after their plants, I managed to do something wrong. But something changed and I wanted to try to start my plant again. This time I was serious. I know the problem is that I keep forgetting to water so I downloaded PlantIn for reminders. But then I decided to try out the care plan feature and loved it. It turns out that there are much more nuances than I thought, and simple watering is not enough even if you do not forget about it. I am glad that I turned to the experts for help this time and I will do everything right. I was recently given an orchid. I have wanted this flower for a very long time. I really liked that. I was told how to care for it and I tried not to water it too often. And everything was in order, but then healthy buds began to fall off. I was very upset because I wanted the flower to bloom. I asked my friends for advice, but no one could help me. Nobody faced the same problem as me. Then I downloaded this application and I was told that it might be that the water I was using was too cold. Water for irrigation should be soft and at room temperature. It is true, I took water directly from the tap and did not monitor its temperature at all. I tried to defend the water and then the buds stopped falling off. I hope when new buds grow, I will not repeat this mistake. Thank you very much. I didn't know that this happens.

I have an indoor potted citrus tree (grown from seed) that has a great sentimental value for me but that I have cared for improperly and it has been in very bad shape. I have somewhat improved in my care regiment and it has recovered but growing very tall and spindly, and now it has reached some 180cm in height and bumping in the ceiling of the windowsill. I had so many questions. Should I prune the plant? Or transplant somewhere outside? How much light and warmth is necessary for the cutting at this stage? I keep it at the windowsill but the light is muted and the weather cold. Would adding artificial lights help at this stage? I tried to find answers on the forms but to no avail. Then I downloaded PlantIn and found all the answers I needed there. The experts explained to me in great detail everything that interested me and made a plan for leaving for the future. Read ALL Reviews before Purchase!!!

I suggest that people always read ALL reviews before purchasing anything online!!! Protect yourselves people!!! I can get better results from google for free! I scanned a sick Aloe vera plant and PlantIn identified it as a pineapple plant. I tried several times from different angles and got the same result. However it did correctly identify a healthy Aloe vera. There is absolutely no way I am going to pay for an app that does not allow me to try ALL of the features before purchase. Besides that, PlantIn is way too expensive. I will throw the plant away and get a new one before I pay $7.99 a week!!! After reading Several of the ratings, I don’t see how it can be 4.4 stars. Too many issues with people having to pay extra for features that are NOT included with the subscription. Seriously???? If I’m paying for a subscription to something like this, I better have ALL of the features available to me, especially at this price!!! I think PlantIn is a money scam!!!

Save your money. Google lens is more efficient

I tried to identify several of my plants with PlantIn, only to get the response “try a different angle” or “move closer.” Tried multiple angles and basically crawled inside the plant to take the picture - still couldn’t get proper identification of my plants. I don’t have crazy exotic plants that would be exceptionally difficult to identify, yet PlantIn failed at every attempt to identify a plant by taking a photo.

I attempted to send feedback through PlantIn twice. That was ignored. I saw the support email address on one of the reviews here so I forwarded my initial emails to that address. What I received was a canned response from someone who obviously did not read my emails because their answer to my predicament was to use the “take photo” feature. IF my emails had been read, they would have seen that’s how I was attempting to identify the plants in the first place.

I had a family situation to deal with so checking emails from a worthless app was not top priority. I received an email from this app 4 days after they finally responded to my emails that “since they hadn’t heard from me in awhile, the ticket was going to be closed.” Conclusion: customer service is just as unhelpful as PlantIn .

***If you simply use Google lens, take a photo of your plant and in the text line, write “care and watering” or something similar, you will get much better information than PlantIn provides.***

I always admired Morgan's sedum, where I accidentally saw: in someone's window or offices. But somehow I didn't have to "get to know" him better. And suddenly a friend brought me such a long-awaited plant. As it turned out, he was simply thrown out, because the appearance of the plant left much to be desired - the stems were half bare, and the needle-leaves crumbled, it seems to me, from one glance. Great app

I've never had a complex vision of plant parenting but loved buying plants for my house. To google every other issue is ok, but exhausting. It has become a perfect solution for me and my green pets - now I barely picture the leaf that worries me and I immediately get the detailed explanation of what's going on with it. Also, PlantIn gives you instructions on how to take care of the plant even if everything is ok - to prevent problems in future. I tried it on my palm tree, fiddle tree, and bird of paradise - PlantIn defined all the problematic issues correctly and provided helpful solutions. For example, I had to transplant a plant, but I did not understand how to do it correctly. The service considered the peculiarities of my plant, my climate, the location of the plant in the apartment and suggested what needs to be done. Thank you so much! Mistakes could cost me my beloved green pets. Now, if I have any doubt about what's wrong with my plants, I merely take a photo and get the immediate answer.

Clicked on start free trial. Money taken same day. Refuse to refund. App is rubbish. Provides lists of at least 20 things that could be wrong with that type of plant - not even specific plant

I made the mistake of purchasing a one time purchase. Within minutes I realized the App was not for me and. I was going to have to pay an additional $19.99 to get a question about a plant answered. I also used the app to try and figure out the issue with the plant. I received very basic general responses about the plant. I immediately contacted Customer Service within a few minutes and told them I wanted to cancel and get a refund. They told me they could not give me a refund because it was purchased through the App Store. I sent them a copy of their service agreement and they still said they could not give me a refund. Be very weary before you purchase this app because you will be charged additional fees based on what you want to do which they don’t tell you up front.

There is no customer service number and it is very difficult to get this canceled. The app has a process to cancel the subscription, but the company will continue to charge you. When I emailed them they said I had to cancel it through the Apple store. Why would they have a process on the app to cancel that doesn’t work? Imagine how much money they are getting for people who cancelled through the app.

This PlantIn company is a complete rip-off! Their “service” cannot identify well known plants let alone give advice how to care for them. I asked for a refund and Olivia the company representative flat out refused to give me a refund even though the service doesn’t work! Avoid this company because they are very dishonest corporate “citizens” and clearly PlantIn is a sleazy company that doesn’t care about their customers or their own reputation! DR

I hate this app. It does not do as advertised in commercials. It never gets the plant right. It diagnoses the same 10 possible things it could be which is a wide range , and then every time suggest spending 20.00 per question for a professional opinion. When I asked for a refund after two days they said no. Buyer beware!

Do NOT subscribe to this app. Like many other users here...I got an unauthorized charge for a year subscription, despite the fact that I cancelled my subscription before the end of the free 3 day trial. Have reported the charge in Play store. Will do whatever it takes to make sure that this fraudulent behaviour will not be a success :(

This app is a scam. I have canceled my subscription TWICE and my credit card keeps being charged. I even received a cancellation email. When I went back to check it, guess what? It had been retracted from my account. It now shows no record of me having canceled and there is NO WAY to cancel again. Had to file a complaint with Apple. DO NOT USE.

This is my 4th time emailing you guys about getting my money back that was illegally taken from my card. I unsubscribed and you guys still took from my card the very next day anyways. No one is getting back to me this is starting to seem like one hell of a scam!!!!!

This App is SCAM - loaded it from the app store, chose the 3-day-free-trial - and before I could do anything else, they told me, I chose the 1 year trial and charged me 38 Euro!!! I tried everything to get my money back, that no way. At the end I thought: right, you got it, now use it - well, it's absolutely useless! Instead of finding the right plant, it gives me 4 to 5 possibilities, which plant it COULD BE! And no way to scan suffering leafs - they give you a hand full of possible diseases a plant (ANY plant) could have. Has nothing to do with the problem, you try to solve. So: Zero stars from my side! This is SCAM (very expensive scam in fact) and absolutely not recommendable at all!
