I used IZIVAT for purchases in Paris. I followed all of the required steps and the company failed to send me a certified invoice before I left the country. They said it would still be taken care of afterwards but it never has. They have all of my receipts which are in this app’s name so they can claim the VAT refund for themselves and just keep it. Another case of scammers getting away with your money and not having any recourse.
App seems me a link to reset password. But when I open the link, it launches in IZIVAT and freezes. I can’t enter anything to submit a new password.
Dont waste your time with the apps. Just spinning without any messages. I think it setup to steal your passport info.
Total scam. Olympic stores said to use IZIVAT for VAT. Followed every direction and got a bar code to confirm at the airport - and barcode was DENIED! Nothing can be done at the airport. Total scam to give the impression of having all set and ready and it isn’t valid and no VAT refunded.
I admit I was frustrated at first, but in hindsight it was because of my lack of understanding how the tax free shopping process works with IZI. I didn’t do my homework. It’s different than Global Blue.
Essentially you need to download IZIVAT and register. Then give your QR code to the merchant when shopping, or upload receipts BEFORE going to the airport. If leaving the EU from France, it’s easy. If leaving from a different country, then be sure to print all your paperwork BEFORE going to the airport, since they will have to be manually stamped by export control.
Remember…you need to prove you’re exporting the purchased goods. This is true with any VAT refund scheme.
Basically. Do your homework ahead of time and it’ll be super easy.
Once I submitted my stamped paperwork, the refund was delivered via PayPal within 24 hours.
