Great grocery shopping experience

this app has helped me to organize my grocery list based on my meal plan. It lets me track pantry items and will even load pantry items ordered online from other stores I shop at. The tool has a searchable recipe base of healthy meal suggestions to add to my weekly meal plan. it can filter recipes based on the main ingredients in my pantry, and identify missing pantry items to add to my grocery list.
this app saves time by finding available local store items based on my entered grocery list. I can compare prices and selections across available stores in my area, and then search the individual stores to make any necessary selection changes based on item availability.
On checkout, it has been easy to find an available delivery or pickup window within a reasonable timeframe. The this app support team has been very helpful throughout the ordering and delivery process from confirming both receipt of my order and when it has been placed with the store, allowing me to add additional items to my order prior to delivery, notifying me of expected delivery time on the day of delivery and following up with me to check on my satisfaction with the overall delivery experience.
Overall, I’ve had a great experience using both the tool and the service to order for grocery planning, ordering and delivery and plan to use it for future orders.

Want to love it, but very glitchy for me

I absolutely love the concept of this app, but setting it up has been difficult and time consuming as Cooklist moves very slow and can be glitchy at times. When adding items to my pantry it isn’t uncommon for Cooklist to freeze, quit, or not recognize an item that I had added previously and it had an entry for. I also have trouble with products being added to wrong categories (spice blend being labeled as a sauce, etc) which wouldn’t be a huge deal if I could fix it quickly but Cooklist can be rather slow to load and process new data inputs. I have a rather large inventory of spices and pantry staples so it isn’t quite efficient for me.

I’ll continue to use in hopes that new updates come out that fix these issues, I really think it could be huge help to me in the kitchen and I’d love to use it optimally. I would love to see it get a little smarter and have the ability to indicate how much of something we have to that we can know when we’re running low; particularly spices or things that come multiple to a pack.

Overall, I think it’s a cool tool for home cooks, but just be mindful of be time commitment that it may take on the front end if you have lots to add!

What I’ve been looking for!

I can’t believe I found it! Pantry inventory, Walmart shopping import, meal planning, nutritional info, recipe imports, and more!!! I am so elated with Cooklist. Just a few suggestions from a family-of-5 mom: Apple Health sync, portion selection for individual days in the meal plan (if I cook spaghetti and have one portion that same night, and 2 portions the next day, I want to differentiate), adding family members let’s them share the pantry, but they create their own meal plan which can be toggled to show up on your account meal plan (so you know where the food has gone!), scan to remove items option, scanning the same item twice gives the option to add to what you already have instead of just “you already scanned this”, meal plan iOS calendar sync. A HUGE hug to the developers! I hope my mom-perspective suggestions are helpful! - Robyn

Simple tool, overly complicated tutorial and welcome process

I downloaded Cooklist and was so excited to get started. Unfortunately the pop ups in the beginning with suggestions and how to use Cooklist were insanely annoying and there was no way to exit or dismiss all of them. I forced closed Cooklist multiple times and they’d still pop up. I couldn’t scan an item without a bunch of other prompts popping up of what to do next. Then any other area of Cooklist that I tapped, a bunch more prompts would open up in that area! I tapped the recipe area and I got all these prompts of what do do and how to save stuff. There was no way to stop this awful pop up tutorial cycle. Why no “skip” option? After even just 5 minutes of using Cooklist I was so frustrated I canceled the subscription and deleted it. It’s such an incredibly easy tool with a WAY overly complicated instruction processes. There should be a way to dismiss the tutorial altogether! And the chat lady welcoming me and her picture staying there because she’s the assistant? I wish that would go away, too. If you’ve used any sort of food tracking app (like MyFitnessPal) then this is basically it, plus a Pinterest-like feature that draws ideas from that. Unfortunately way too irritating with pop ups for me!

Exciting App with Multiple Functions

I needed a way to keep track of expiration dates for foods. Pleased that Cooklist gathers data from recent grocery trips, and as an added bonus suggests recipes showing the ingredients we have on hand. Cooklist is intuitive and easy to get started with.

The only areas of improvement I may suggest would be to 1) add a gluten free filter for recipes, and 2) not all stores imported my recent purchases as shown in the email confirmation I received. But happily it didn’t take long to scan the items Cooklist didn’t import because of the large food database.

It seems to me after reading the reviews, that the developers are continually finding new ways to improve upon an already great app. This builds confidence, and I plan to remain a loyal subscriber.

Takes some time to learn but really worth the effort!

I can tell there are still some technical kinks to be worked out to make it more user friendly, but if you put in the time upfront to input your pantry/fridge/freezer/household goods and be sure to update your inventory regularly, it will REALLY help you make use of what you have and not blow your budget.

I used to spend so much on food because I would go pick up new ingredients for a recipe I wanted to make and I would find that either I already had some of the ingredients and I simply forgot, or I could’ve used substitutes or just made something from what I had at home.

Cooklist will help you realize how many meals you actually have hidden in your home! It offers substitutes, expiration date reminders and even gives the option to cook with only what you have or to add some missing ingredients to your shopping list so you can meal plan effectively.

All the features I’m looking for!

Cooklist is second best to Supercook in terms of available features. They offer recipes that are actually based on what I have in my pantry and provide an ok variety. I’m looking forward to what they add in the future.

If I could give a couple suggestions-
-All of the food suggested to add to my pantry seems to be Great Value products. I have no idea why. I don’t buy Great Value products and it forces me to search for what I’m actually looking for. It makes Cooklist feel like there’s excessive and needless branding and makes it more difficult to find what I actually want
- there are a lot of steps to add food to my pantry that aren’t in the premade lists. I don’t know why but it felt very tedious to add something as simple as frozen artichoke hearts. I couldn’t find frozen ones, and then I could find ones that were generic so I, yet again, had to choose Great Value.

Love it, when it works

Cooklist is everything I’ve been looking for in a meal planning app. You can make grocery lists, inventory your pantry, add recipes from multiple online sources and manually and the best part is that all of those functions are in sync. You add a meal and you’re missing ingredients, those ingredients automatically get added to your grocery list. I really only have one problem, when Cooklist glitches out and I can’t use some of the functions so I have to delete Cooklist and reinstall it. So far, I’ve had an issue where my grocery would not load no matter what I did and lately I have been having an issue where Cooklist won’t let me change the starting dates for my weekly meal plans. Just deleted and reinstalled so hopefully that fixes it, but I really wish the bugs would be resolved because outside those issues it is a fantastic tool.

Life changing!

As a child no one talks about this 1 crucial fact about becoming an adult, you’re going to have to plan dinner for yourself nearly every night for the rest of your life, and as a mom and a wife I STRUGGLE making this decision every night for my whole family. Cooklist makes it so easy to find new recipes that I can make simply out of items I already have in my home, by easily connecting Cooklist to my Walmart app.
I can also discover brand new recipes and put all ingredients necessary for the recipe directly in my Walmart shopping cart in a simple click of a button! Making online shopping quick and easy! I’ve used Cooklist every day now for a few weeks and I’m LOVING it ❤️and my family is also enjoying all the new dishes!

Finally an awesome grocery, home inventory, meal planning solution

I have used a meal planning app for the past year but it was not at all like this app! this app is there for the complete cycle of groceries, cooking, planning, shopping and includes nutritional information, tracking expiration dates and comparison shopping. It’s so easy to use and I love how it automatically loads in grocery orders to the pantry. Recipes are not “exclusive” to Cooklist so you aren’t limited to a small set of options for the week. We have saved money by using what we have on hand and using the comparison shopping feature. We’ve wasted less food, money and time. For a little over $1 per week, it has had a huge impact on our grocery budget and healthy meal planning.

Best shopping list app

I live way out on a ranch far away from grocery stores and keeping a strict shopping list is very important so I don’t have to make multiple trips to the grocery store. This shopping list can do so many things I never even imagined. I can add a recipe and it will add the ingredients to my list, and it also auto-calculates the weight in oz so i know exactly how much I need to buy (like 1/2 cup shredded cheese = 4oz) because things are sold in oz at the store. It even matches the items on my list to real products at my grocery store so I can preview what’s available and how much it’s going to cost. And to top it off, I can actually send an order for delivery straight to the store right from the shopping list on this app. It’s actually incredible.

Amazing Free App

As a new mom and wife, managing the home is the most important yet difficult thing on the planet. i have tried multiple apps but they never mount to this one. It’s as if Cooklist was designed specifically for me. it has great recipes categorized by type or by effort, it shows me in the recipe what items i already have and what substitutions i can use, which saves me money $$. my favorite part is the fact that in the shopping cart, it tells me what i’m going to spend at the grocery store! this is huge! because, I know how much to budget for. never before could groceries really be exactly budgeted in my household, until now!

still learning all the new things but love Cooklist!!! moms definitely worth checking into!

Life changing

Cooklist will save me so much money because I didn't realize that I can cook hundreds of delicious recipes with the food I already have. It adds lots of delicious variety to my life and saves me a fortune in groceries because I can use what I have. Also tells you when foods are expiring which helps you use it before you lose it. And organizes pantry items by category so each week when you update your inventory you can more easily find your stuff.

Few minor tips:
1. It'd be amazing if we can have a clean dish category as a pantry item so it only shows recipes where you have the tools cleaned and available to use. Examples is I don't have a clean airfryer right now so i would love to have all those removed from the list.
2. Also I wish I could copy/paste recipe details instead of manually adding one by one.
3. Need manually added recipes to be private to just me (or at least have that option)

But again this is an AMAZING app and the people who built it have an excellent eye for detail and how to make super user experience.

Simple Simple Simple

So far I have used the pantry feature and used it to try the “cook now” feature.

Entering items is so simple and it has a surprising archive already built in. I used the reader to capture each item and then +- to update amounts.

The cook now feature can be filtered for diet, prep time etc. it’s been really thoughtfully designed!

After selecting the recipe, which I had and it was delicious! The next time I opened Cooklist , it asked if I used the recipe and then allowed me to update the pantry list accordingly.

I love to cook and have an extensive pantry. . . Seriously a lot for daily and emergency provisions and it was entered in just a couple hours. . . Learning curve slowed me at times, but it’s great!

I could after shopping just clicking and entering would take just a few minutes. It also prevents you from duplication and alerts if you already entered something. So, if you have things in different locations, just move through and you can update as you get to duplicate items.

Loving Cooklist so far!

All Encompassing- This. Fixes. Everything.

I'm a picky eater. I forget all the time about what's in my pantry/fridge/freezer and throw away rotten food all the time. One week my kids love grapes, so I buy more and then they don't eat them. What do I do with all these random-about-to-expire foods? And after giving up on worrying about it and just throwing food away, I spend 2 hours meal planning on pinterest. I lay it out on paper and online pick-up shop just to get home with 3 or 4 things I already have and didn't know it! It's exasperating! This. App. Fixes. EVERYTHING. For. FREE. No ads. It's easy and clean. No glitches so far. They even have a chatbot THAT'S NOT A ROBOT. Crazy right? Try it. You need it. Go already!

Everything I’ve been wanting

Cooklist is literally everything I’ve been wanting. I was dreaming of an app the would all me to plan meals, keep inventory of my pantry, and curate a shopping list and Cooklist does that plus more. The best part is, it’s all automated! Cooklist is smart enough to add missing ingredients from your meal plan to your shopping list and remove them from the pantry after you cook with them. Cooklist is literally the best thing for someone who wants to meal plan/prep, and limit grocery store trips, but needs to see everything laid out visually. Cannot stress it enough that Cooklist is the bomb dot com. Do download!!!!

Pantry at your fingertips

Cooklist’s concept is genius. Its an efficient approach to food planning that saves time, money, and food waste. Super useful to reference while at the store. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve wondered whether I have [ingredient], purchased it, and come home to find that I already have the item. Also, I really like the feature where their recipes give you options to swap niche items out that you may not have in your existing spice cabinet (and may not intend to purchase) for more generic substitutes. It’s a modern approach to cooking; solves real life busy people problems.

Dorm cooking made easy

It’s really cool I can just add the few things I have in my dorm kitchen and it will give me soooo many recipes in return. Even if some things are missing a few ingredients, it gives you substitution ideas- and I’m sure plenty of recipes would be fine without one type of seasoning. I always have a hard time finding recipes with the sparse ingredients that I have and Cooklist completely solved that! At first I was a little off put because I thought it was required to pay a yearly fee for “pro” but luckily I noticed the X and now am enjoying the free version of Cooklist :)

So Worth It!!!

i absolutely LOVE Cooklist. my husband & i never know what to make for dinner & Cooklist makes my life SO much easier & less stressful to say the least. It only costs a little less than $50 for the ENTIRE YEAR and there’s a 7 day trial when you start!! we used to use Hello Fresh & we hated it but absolutely love Cooklist over anything. i can’t believe how awesome this is!

this app allows you to:
•build a pantry list
•give/take the amount of how much of an ingredient you actually have
•tells you how many ingredients you have/don’t have for a recipe
•gives substitution ingredients for anything missing
•make a grocery list for anything you run out of
•add your grocery stores
•meal plan for the week
•reminds you when to meal plan if you choose
•add food allergies/diets to make recipes fit for you and your family (vegetarian, vegan, paleo, keto)
•shows how long it’ll take to cook & prep
•SUPER easy step by step directions for the recipe

CRASHES = CANCELLATION

Honestly I want to love Cooklist! It is an absolutely brilliant tool to use for meal planning, grocery shopping, pantry stocking, etc. I downloaded Cooklist and was immediately able to try the 30-day FREE trial... YAY! Truthfully, within my first browse through Cooklist I knew it would be something I’d pay for once the trial was up... until Cooklist crashed. And crashed again. And crashed and crashed... anytime I tried to save a recipe or search an ingredient or add a pantry item. This is incredibly infuriating and truly makes Cooklist unusable.. ESPECIALLY when it doesn’t save things due to the crashes. I’m going to hope this problem is fixed before the end of my free trial.. if it isn’t, unfortunately I will be canceling the service and finding an alternative app!!

Awesome app, attentive devs!

Edit: The devs listened to my issue and applied an update that now makes Cooklist work great on my XS Max! Awesome app with a great team behind it, keep up the amazing work guys!

Old review: Have to tap multiple times (10-20) to get upper left and right screen controls to respond (back button, share, save recipe, etc). Cooklist works well otherwise, but this is a major issue and should be checked out. I’ve reset and reloaded Cooklist and my phone, with no change. Rating low for now, but will gladly crank up the stars if they can fix this.

By

Cooklist is amazing!

The devs seem to have thought of everything when designing Cooklist. I have no complaints at all, and I’m quite a picky person! I love that I can scan all my groceries into Cooklist by their barcode and that Cooklist generates thousands of recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, desserts, and drinks based on what I already have. It makes finding good recipes much easier and eliminates the need to go to the store to get a missing ingredient. I also think the expiration feature is pretty useful! Really love Cooklist . Thanks this app! 🙂

Nonsensical Approach

I bake a lot both wheat and gluten free. I had hoped this woyld would help track my large inventory of ingredients. It doesn’t.

While it will scan a large percentage of your stock on hand using the phone, it doesnt scan duplicates. So, no tracking if you have 8oz or 10 lbs.

Theres limited support for ingredients used in gluten free baking, including well known names like Bob’s Red Mill and Judee’s.

I also want to track my own mixes and ingredients as they have a limited shelf life. No luck here.

The recipes idea is cute but pointless in the context of inventory management. Put that into a separate app.

As a baker, I really need to know what I have on hand, and as I use ingredients- it helps me track the impact to inventory. Thats where an external recipe feature that I can add my own recipes to would help. If I use 3 cups of flour, 2tsp of yeast and 1/3 cup of olive oil, decrement my inventory. If I’m running low, put it on my shopping list.

Some of the recipes I looked at link to blogs that skip the instructions. Instead you get reminiscing about TV shows from the ‘80s.

Absolute Game Changer

From ingredients and pantry list, recipes based on ingredients you have, planning meals, planning shopping trips, comparing prices at nearby stores, buying your groceries in Cooklist , expiration reminders, complete customization and organization! I’m in love and recommend it to every single one of my clients. As a health coach this is such a great way to easily compact a complete plan for their goals and ease their mind. My clients have love Cooklist, love learning and are trying out new things. They have fun with their nutrition and Cooklist has set the bar high. Amazing app, Thank you.

By

Not simple or complete enough.

I’m looking for the perfect pantry inventory app. I haven’t found it yet. Certainly not for free anyway. This one looks promising. But didn’t appear to let me choose my own categories or assign my products to the set category I preferred. Also didn’t seem to let me scan two of the same product or increase the quantity of the first one scanned. Also tried the recipe finder and it never stopped spinning. It’s kind of a busy presentation as well. I don’t really need a lot of shopping hints so didn’t live all the extra ads and suggestions if similar items. I just want a straightforward, easy to use, unlimited capacity app!

By

This takes shopping list to a whole new level

The shopping list on this app seems simple and easy to use but it packs a whole lot of cool abilities. For one, you can browse over a million recipes and add any of them to your shopping list. It auto-sums ingredient amounts across recipes if you add multiple and then it will even show the price and availability for the items on my list at my local grocer. This has quickly become one of my go-to apps.

By

So much promise...

Cooklist has so much promise but the stability is not there. I was able to scan my pantry inventory in using UPC codes, which was easy and awesome, and I could then get a general list of recipe suggestions, complete with nutrition facts, based on what I have on hand, but I was unable to apply filters to or search the recipes without Cooklist crashing.

I will keep checking back on Cooklist because it aims high and could, when the bugginess is worked out, meet my need to avoid agonizing over what to throw together when I’m strapped for time and starving already.

By

My wife and I needed this!

We grocery shop quite a bit so keeping a synced shopping list is key for us, especially since we sometime shop at 3-4 stores on any given week. On this app we are part of the same ‘household’ which allows us to share the same shopping list that updates in real-time. It also keeps track of what we buy and shows us recipes we can actually cook. This is a game changer for us!

By

Best food app I’ve used

Cooklist is not perfect, will crash sometimes but not a regular occurrence. The way I can scan my pantry is brilliant, and use my pantry to search for recipes is a total game changer that I have yet to see in other apps that are free. Use Cooklist to come up with ideas and to try ingredients that i wouldn’t otherwise use due to not knowing how to. Definitely would recommend 110%.

Cook list,

you guys rock!!

By

So close yet so far

Not a very good experience for a first time user. I cannot get Cooklist to transfer my list to Kroger. The store is on my preferred list too and shows that it accepted my login info.

-The feature that is missing on Cooklist is the ability to save my own custom recipes. Right now all my personal family recipes are in my notes app.
- Also the ability to alter or edit a recipe. Sometimes I make the recipe my own and customize it and I can’t save what to repeat when I go to cook it again. At least leave a notes option if you aren’t going to let me customize the ingredients and save the new recipe.
- Linking to a site for directions isn’t safe. I’d like them imported. That way if the site shuts down I still have my recipe.

I hope to see some of these improvements so I can begin to use Cooklist.

Recipe All-in-one timesaver!

I discovered this app a few months ago and use it on a regular basis now. My favorite part is having one location to do all of my recipe searching. I can easily save recipes and go back to them later. Plus, when I’m tired and forget to broaden my cooking by looking for recipes, I love the weekly email of dinner ideas to re/spark my creative cooking. Fabulous app!

By

Best List App! Hands down

Having a shared shopping list that updates in real time with my roommates is crucial and Cooklist does it better than anyone else. I can see who added things to the list and when and even add entire recipes with the ingredients automatically added to the list. It’s simple yet super advanced. Definitely the best list app I’ve tried.

By

A must for the At-Home Foodie

I was absolutely tired of googling different recipes and trying to make a grocery list from 100 different websites, just hoping I don't forget something.

I use this app on a daily basis, from planning meals, shopping, and cooking. Everything is there and this app has changed the way I plan my weekly menu.

10/10. Just download it.
