Hi, I just downloaded the app and the barcode scanner is not working. I tried restarting my phone, updating it, and also tried deleting the app and re downloading it.

I downloaded this app and was so excited to get started. Unfortunately the pop ups in the beginning with suggestions and how to use the app were insanely annoying and there was no way to exit or dismiss all of them. I forced closed the app multiple times and they’d still pop up. I couldn’t scan an item without a bunch of other prompts popping up of what to do next. Then any other area of the app that I tapped, a bunch more prompts would open up in that area! I tapped the recipe area and I got all these prompts of what do do and how to save stuff. There was no way to stop this awful pop up tutorial cycle. Why no “skip” option? After even just 5 minutes of using the app I was so frustrated I canceled the subscription and deleted it. It’s such an incredibly easy tool with a WAY overly complicated instruction processes. There should be a way to dismiss the tutorial altogether! And the chat lady welcoming me and her picture staying there because she’s the assistant? I wish that would go away, too. If you’ve used any sort of food tracking app (like MyFitnessPal) then this is basically it, plus a Pinterest-like feature that draws ideas from that. Unfortunately way too irritating with pop ups for me!

Honestly I want to love this app! It is an absolutely brilliant tool to use for meal planning, grocery shopping, pantry stocking, etc. I downloaded the app and was immediately able to try the 30-day FREE trial... YAY! Truthfully, within my first browse through the app I knew it would be something I’d pay for once the trial was up... until the app crashed. And crashed again. And crashed and crashed... anytime I tried to save a recipe or search an ingredient or add a pantry item. This is incredibly infuriating and truly makes the app unusable.. ESPECIALLY when it doesn’t save things due to the crashes. I’m going to hope this problem is fixed before the end of my free trial.. if it isn’t, unfortunately I will be canceling the service and finding an alternative app!!

I absolutely love the concept of Cooklist, but setting it up has been difficult and time consuming as the app moves very slow and can be glitchy at times. When adding items to my pantry it isn’t uncommon for the app to freeze, quit, or not recognize an item that I had added previously and it had an entry for. I also have trouble with products being added to wrong categories (spice blend being labeled as a sauce, etc) which wouldn’t be a huge deal if I could fix it quickly but the app can be rather slow to load and process new data inputs. I have a rather large inventory of spices and pantry staples so it isn’t quite efficient for me.
I’ll continue to use in hopes that new updates come out that fix these issues, I really think it could be huge help to me in the kitchen and I’d love to use it optimally. I would love to see it get a little smarter and have the ability to indicate how much of something we have to that we can know when we’re running low; particularly spices or things that come multiple to a pack.
Overall, I think it’s a cool tool for home cooks, but just be mindful of be time commitment that it may take on the front end if you have lots to add!
