Seed to Spoon - Growing Food Reviews

I am relatively new to gardening and have not had as much of a success with many plants other then peppers. I discovered SeedtoSpoon through a gardening Facebook group and it has changed my life. For me the hardest part is predicting when to start my plants and this gives the window you should plant for your zone and it takes out the guesswork. You can also create your own garden and add life events to the plant and it gives you your first estimated harvest which is so awesome. I am discovering new things everyday because of SeedtoSpoon and all the amazing information it has. The best part about it is that it is free to use. I did see the garden plus part will become a paid feature in the future but I am completely okay and willing to pay for it in exchange for the information it provides. Please use SeedtoSpoon it will change your life!

I love SeedtoSpoon. I am new to gardening and this makes things so easy and completely takes out the guess work. It calculates when the last frost date is for your location and gives you a planting window and also a harvest window. It tells you what bugs to expect for what plants and how to get rid of them. It also tells you what plants are friends. All this info on SeedtoSpoon and SeedtoSpoon is FREE 99!! …for now. But honestly I’m willing to pay with everything that it has now and what they’re planning to add with the upgrade. They’ll be multiple other features that I can’t think of right now but what I’m excited about is the watering schedule. Like are you kidding me? I won’t have to keep up with watering/fertilizing for every single plant and SeedtoSpoon will do it for me??? Take my money, they can’t update it fast enough

I haven’t had a chance to really go through SeedtoSpoon but the biggest advantage that I noticed is how they categorized the plants with their health benefits. That is very helpful for someone (like me) that wants to grow food that can assist with certain health issues. I don’t remember if you have a preferred neighbor/grows good with section in the plants information for people that use raised beds or if this is for separate potting only, but either way that information would be very helpful to know as well. I really like when you input the information for the seed that it gives you an estimated date for sprouting and for harvest. That is helpful and was wondering if you can have it link with the calendar to help keep track with the sprouting/harvesting. So far it’s very informative.

So far I love SeedtoSpoon !!! Even tho I haven’t gotten my garden up yet! I can’t wait to start using!!! I was looking for a expansive yet simple app for when I plant my seeds that will help me keep track of them & I found SeedtoSpoon!!! Only thing I have a problem with is it popped up for me to rate SeedtoSpoon & when I went to click to rate it didn’t open SeedtoSpoon Store or nothing... Even when I went to the side bar menu to click ‘Please help us with a review’ it wouldn’t open 🤷🏻‍♂️ not sure if that’s a bug in SeedtoSpoon or just on the website... Anyway thank you for an awesome app.

One thing can you addd the ability to plot & lay out a garden by size & then able to select what you want growing there... so we could see what we got where 🤷🏻‍♂️ I saw another app that had that but would be nice if it was in SeedtoSpoon but made better😊

I am new to gardening and SeedtoSpoon has really helped me get organized (and excited) about growing my own vegetable garden. The “Garden+” features shows a lot of promise and I have a feeling that as my experience grows that SeedtoSpoon will grow with me.

My daughter and I just completed building a 4’ x 8’ raised bed and our vegetables have all been planted. I love being able to track each plant and log in it’s progress. I’ve also been taking photos of the plants so that I can see the visual progress on each one. The more info that I add to my garden database the more I will learn and make decisions at later times on what works and what doesn’t. I highly recommend SeedtoSpoon to both notices and experts.

I absolutely love SeedtoSpoon. It’s helped me so much with staying organized and understanding what I want to grow. My favorite feature is seeing what goes well together and what does not. I’m excited to see the garden + feature as well when it’s released! A beginner gardener would not feel overwhelmed using this.

A few suggestions that would be lovely to have. The ability to create custom lists (being able to separate the veggies I want to grow in each season separately). Also the ability to start adding sub categories of specific vegetables or more rare and unique ones. Lastly the ability for people to make comments on tips of success they had, recipes of their own, pruning or maintenance tips, etc.

Again, I love SeedtoSpoon. I think it’s wonderful right now so anything added will be a plus at this point.

SeedtoSpoon is so user friendly! I have always had a small backyard garden for my husband and I. 5 years ago I got into straw bale gardening 🧑‍🌾 and really love it! Going from 6 bales, to 10... and now I do 20 bales each year in my outdoor area, plus some ground crops as well. In April, my new Greenhouse arrives which will extend my growing season tremendously in high altitude western Colorado! So my seeds are planted and growing in the house, soon to be moved to the greenhouse. SeedtoSpoon lets me track each variety of plant, tells me my frost dates (short growing season here) and has so much info on critters, etc. I’d give SeedtoSpoon more than 5 stars if I could! I’ve been using SeedtoSpoon for a few weeks now. I love it! I can put in which seeds, even which specific seed type (banana peppers, green peppers...) I planted and it will tell me approximately when it should sprout, be harvested, and what bugs/pests may be a problem with that particular plant! It even has the square foot gardening info like how many of what I can put in 1 square! I can upload pictures and everything!! Add notes to remind yourself what you did and when (such as fertilizing) to help decide if what you did brought a good harvest!

I love SeedtoSpoon! Expertly built and full of useful info. The only thing I wish it included is the length of time a particular plant produces. I’m very new to gardening and have limited space (about 10 small - medium raises beds). That information would help me to know how long I am committing each of my beds to and when I can expect to have it free to start a new crop. (I have a list of 20 plants I want to grow next year after doing 10 this year) SeedtoSpoon is helping me to start calculating when and where to put each crop! I can’t stop telling everyone I know about SeedtoSpoon!! So thankful to Dale & Carrie for building something so wonderful!!!

Having been in the Military for 24 years and moving never really allowed me to seriously garden. Now that I’ve retired I’ve begun gardening again in raised beds. I built 3 raised beds one for myself and the other two for my two sons still living with us at home. I stumbled across SeedtoSpoon and it has been a lot of fun for us. It gives my kids something to help them stay organized and gives them dates to look forward to. I will definitely recommend SeedtoSpoon for other gardeners. After spending years trying grow things at the wrong time of year it’s awesome to have all the information in one place. I love that SeedtoSpoon tell me which plant can be planted and that I can log when I plant and fertilize. When I find something eating my plants your app has a simple way to figure out what it is and what to use on the plant. I can’t wait for the premium app that will send alerts for frost and reminders to fertilize. I have had to use my calendar for that which is tedious. It would be nice if SeedtoSpoon could use plant spacing for laying out gardens. I have to go to another app for that.

This is one of the best designed plant apps I’ve ever seen. It’s incredibly comprehensive and I am just absolutely in love with it. I’m not usually a big app-user but this is absolutely one of the few of my must haves. Honestly, it’s such a good app that even if you don’t like plants you should have it. It has health info and recipes about different edible plants that anyone can use, garden or no garden. However, it is an absolute must must have if you have any kind of edible plants. Why are you still reading reviews just download it already and see for yourself!!

I’m a beginner gardener and I got chastised when I asked other growers about any apps that may help me through my overwhelming journey of growing vegetables and herbs. I’m glad I kept looking instead of listening to them. SeedtoSpoon has everything. Every time I look at it I find another surprise batch of information I didn’t see before. This helps me feel more in control of my garden!

I’m using the beta version, so I’d love to see more medicinal herbs added as SeedtoSpoon develops. That’s my only critique so far. This is amazing what you’re doing to help other gardeners like myself. Thank you thank you thank you! So much!

I love SeedtoSpoon and after listening to the podcast with the creators, I love it even more! Planting time has always been stressful for me because I’m scared I’m going to ruin everything before it even begins. With SeedtoSpoon, I feel like I have a chance to grow from seed to spoon. I love the product purchasing recommendations.

Alerts would be a great feature. I would also love to see information about composting and preserving harvest built in. I know we can already post photos of the garden, but a social section to SeedtoSpoon would be cool. I’d love to connect with local gardening friends. If you guys had a podcast, I would definitely listen to it!

At first I thought it was not very good, just basic plant information. I was comparing it to the veggie garden planner where you actually design your garden. But the more I used it and watched their videos, the more I realized this is a very robust program. Not only do you get info about the plant but you get recommendations for spacing both SFG and using smart bags, set your plant date and get estimated harvest times based on whether it was direct seed or transplant and much more. I understand they are working on more features and will be charging sometime in the future

I really want to give this application 5 stars, but it’s missing one critical feature. I noticed it when I tried to add my Guava tree. It isn’t in the database. Neither are a number of other common plants. I understand you can’t think of every plant a person might have, but there should be an option for the user to create what they need. The items in the database have a “Type” function, but this doesn’t help if you can’t enter the name of a plant that isn’t in the database. I’m hoping that this feature will be in the next update. I thought I’d found the perfect app for my garden, but alas, it wasn’t so.

I downloaded a few apps to see which ones I could utilize the best for my gardening. I have 4 raised beds, one 4’x4’ and three 4’x8’. I companion planted each one. Some with seedlings and some by seed. I wanted and app that could I keep track of planting dates and estimate harvest times. SeedtoSpoon does that and more. I love that I have estimated sprout/harvest times and can add dates of “events” so I can track them.

The only thing I would like to see in an update would be for me to be able to sort my plants by “Garden Location” instead of just plants sorted by name or planted date.

Love SeedtoSpoon! Am able to keep track of what and when vegetables are planted. Gives me a window of when I should plant each kind of veg, based on my location. Also gives a window of when it will sprout and when harvest should start. Able to search on items I’ve added and to upload my own photos. Automatically provides the date of the photo so I can watch the progress of each plant. There are general growing guides for the types of vegetables for reference.

I have had this downloaded since late winter and used very little til recently. It was raining so I was checking SeedtoSpoon out and found the info very useful. Love the fact I can set my location and know the planting dates. I usually behind on everything. I also square foot garden and it gives planting info for that as well as grow bags. It gives you pest info and companion planting info. Can’t wait til the reminder part is released to try that out. If you are just starting or a skilled gardener I think you will love SeedtoSpoon.

I love SeedtoSpoon to keep track of all my garden veggies! Particularly the estimated seed sprouting and harvest dates. As a beginner gardener, I have already learned a TON by using SeedtoSpoon. I would like to see some additional features such as: 1) notifications/reminders when the optimal time to harvest is approaching; 2) the ability to set reminders for a successive planting schedule; and 3) some way to draw or map the layout of my garden, even down to the square foot so I can individually mark which seeds have sprouted within that square foot. I will continue to use SeedtoSpoon for the foreseeable future and look forward to awesome updates!
