Phenomenal App, Food, and Service

I have been using this app for several months now and am beyond satisfied. Freshly is incredibly user friendly. I am not sure about the sign up process as I already had an account when I downloaded Freshly , but from my experience it is incredibly user friendly and organized and it just looks good.

The food itself is also awesome. I have certain meals that I like more than others but I honestly haven’t tried one yet that I actually disliked. All of the meals I get are gluten free and there are several meatless and low-cal options as well. To have all these healthy, balanced meals prepared and delivered to you is great and it’s even better that they are all so delicious!

Beyond all this, what caused me to want to leave a review is their customer service. Last week I never received my delivery of meals. This was the first issue of any kind I’ve had with their deliveries. I called in and informed customer service of this and without any further questioning they processed my refund in full (I received the email it had been processed when I was still on the phone with them). On top of that they also gave me a discount on the next week’s order. I have been so pleased with the food up til now and I was very happy to see the customer service was just as good. This company rocks!

The New Normal

My introduction to this app was during the pandemic. Fresh food was limited in stores (or so I’m told) and I rationed at home for nearly three months, as I waited for a safer time when more people had been exposed and were hopefully not contagious. I lost 30 lbs and was no longer obese, but I wanted to find a healthy alternative to do a lifestyle change so I didn’t pack the fat back on.
My daughter introduced me to this app.
I found Freshly easy to use, well developed, informative, and the prices were pretty good. The meals came in a wide variety that allowed me to try international recipes without the restaurants. I could adjust my selections to suit my tastes as each delivery date approached.
The meals are made and delivered unfrozen in chilled packaging, so no need for preservatives or excess processing methods that our diets have fallen into; just look at the pronounceable ingredient lists.
Did I mention the meals taste great? It’s a win-win for your health and your finances. Restaurant quality meals without parking, fuel, or tips. The ability to pause a shipment until you are ready means you can control the costs. Depending on your plan, even with shipping, the meals are much cheaper than dining out. It’s a great way to dine in. I highly recommend giving it a try.

I don’t usually write reviews, but I just had to because this app had incredible customer service. I recently moved and had issues on two separate occasions (entirely my fault)that were taken care of right away. One of the times I forgot to cancel the order to my old address before the skip period and the second time I accidentally placed back to back deliveries to my new address, one Saturday and one Sunday, which would have been waaay too much food. Both times I was able to contact customer service super quick, and even though it was past the time frame, they were able to cancel my unwanted orders and even refunded me right away. They’re always super friendly, you don’t have to wait forever to talk to someone, and they follow up with an email to make sure everything was taken care of. On top of the excellent customer service, the food is also great. If you don’t like having the same thing over again, it can get repetitive, but they do have seasonal meals that add variety and keep things interesting. It costs just as much as eating out, even cheaper most times, and it’s so much better. Plus, it’s perfectly portioned, so I never have to worry about wasting food.

Superb Food - Shipping issues w/LaserShip

Pros: The quality and taste of this app meals are excellent. They have a wide selection of healthy options with vetted sourcing and no fillers or unnecessary ingredients.

Cons: Waiting to see who the shipping partner is for NC/Triangle area. I started using Freshky while I was on a two month work trip to the Miami area. I had never heard of LaserShip and hopefully will not be subject to their subpar service and unreliability again. On my 2nd order, LaserShip didn’t sort the box correctly and it took a full 24+ hrs to deliver my food from the originally scheduled date. The 4th delivery, LaserShip damaged the box sufficiently to render the meals unsafe—they initially left a note that the item was ‘not able to be left with addressee’. It took them 16 hours to update the status to item damaged, discarded (per this app’s guidance). Both times I wrote LaserShip, it took them 4 days to respond. When I called, the agent was apathetic, hard to
Understand, and could tell me nothing other than that he would make a note for the delivery driver to call me on future deliveries. It’s my hope that this app opts for another delivery service in the South FL area.

More vegan/ vegetarian options

All the meals we have gotten so far have been very good. The one I didn’t like was the veggie curry (and I bought a few of them 😕). It would be so much better if they had more vegetarian options. As of now there are only 3 vegetarian options, (one of which I don’t like). My husband loves all the meat options. I love the squash risotto. The portions are generous and perfect for a filling dinner. It would also be nice if we got text reminders for the last day to change orders for the next week. The packaging has less plastic than most of the other delivery companies. If they could figure out a more environmentally friendly package for the food tray itself, that would be great. If it has to be plastic, then coming with a lid so you could re-use would be better. I have tried a few different companies, and this has been my favorite (except the minimal vegetarian options). I like how the meals are already prepared- and fresh not frozen. It feels more like a home cooked meal instead of a microwave dinner. The purpose of these services for me is something I can do fast, and not have to cook! Also nice for families that have vegetarians and meat eaters so I don’t have to cook 2 different meals. This is very convenient for work nights!

Freshly has made such a difference

I’ve been trying to eat better and lose weight. This has been pretty difficult for me in the past because I’m a busy person and have a terrible tiny kitchen. Convenience is what got me fat and unhealthy, so I needed to find a convenient way to eat healthier. I’ve tried a couple other services, but this app has really been the hands down winner. I’ve tried SO many meals now and can honestly say there has only been one or two that I didn’t like. Most have been absolutely delicious! Being able to pop a healthy meal in the microwave instead of garbage has made losing weight and feeling better very simple. I’ve been using this app for 3 months now and I’m down 40 pounds with literally no effort. More importantly I FEEL soooo much better! This is a no-brained for me. I was spending far more on take-out that was not healthy and didn’t taste as good. I love that the menu changes things up enough to try new things, but also has a steady line up of go-to favorites. Everything about this service has been such a game changer for me!

Tasty, Healthy Food & Simple App

Once my kid went off to college and I started to create new goals for myself, I needed to streamline my life. Cooking became a chore. I was burned out and ended up eating less healthily because I didn’t want to be bothered. I need a way to manage my calories and my health without thinking. I also wanted my time back. Enter this app’s prepared meal service and I was amazed. Every single meal is tasty. Every. Single. Meal. My picky boyfriend even likes them. And it is so affordable to get 12 meals a week that I’m saving grocery money. I can add more fruit, veggies, nuts or snacks around each healthy meal portion and still manage my caloric intake. I am recommending this app to anyone who is tired of wasting time in the kitchen and would rather be using their life and time in other ways. And Freshly is even better. I can swap out meals at any moment. The chefs are constantly creating new seasonal meals for me to try so I never we get bored. Get you life back people! They say “third time’s the charm.”

I am a single medical profession and my 8 hour day is routinely 10-12. I have tried some of the other meal by mail companies, and while the food was good, I still had to chop, sauté, boil, bake, etc when I got home. The this app meals are generously sized and tasty! I have taken them to work for lunch & my co-workers are jealous. The per meal price seems high at first, but you are getting the equivalent of two grocery store frozen meals. So the price actually works out. I did not realize that the meals are not frozen prior to shipping because they always arrive frozen. I live about 4 hours from the shipping hub. My order got on the wrong truck and the delivery was delayed by one day. That’s when I found out that fresh, no frozen meals were so well packaged that they actually froze in the box. So no worries about from me about the shipping temp. While the shipping error was on FedEx, this app gave me a bit off my next order which is great customer service. I didn’t ask for it & didn’t expect it. But I do appreciate it! Looking forward to the roll out of new tasty meals!

Loved everything we’ve tried so far

I wish I had discovered this app sooner. I’m not much of a cook, takeout is expensive and not healthy, frozen meals from the grocery store aren’t great. These meals are delicious! My somewhat picky thirteen year old likes them too. If I’m not home she can just feed herself a delicious filling healthy meal any time. It’s as close as you can get to a home cooked or good restaurant meal and the convenience can’t be beat. Delivered right to my door and three minutes in the microwave? Awesome! And it all tastes so good, nice flavors/textures but nothing too overpowering and none of that cardboard-y frozen meal taste. Because they are fresh not frozen! They last for a week in the fridge just fine. The variety is good. I can keep my favorites but swap some things out for meals I haven’t tried yet because I’m not afraid I won’t like it because I like have liked everything so far. (Been doing this for a month). Keep the prices reasonable and I’ll be a loyal customer for a long time to come.

First delivery was great - 2nd was a disaster

I set this account up for my mother who is 95 and limited physically. The food was packed perfectly the first delivery and she loved the food but she couldn’t pick the box up and bring it inside her home by herself. Anyhow, one by one she brought the meals in and was amazed by how much packing was done to protect the food with ice packs. So she enjoyed all meals that first delivery. She told me how difficult it was for her to handle the box so I called customer care and asked if they would ring her doorbell & set the box inside the house when she answered the door. Was told will put instructions with delivery but no guarantee. So anyhow, here comes the 2nd delivery, no doorbell, two meals were missing, only one ice pack and all the meals were handled like someone took the box and threw it on the porch. All meals were totally messed up. Almost like retaliation for a simple request. I reported the mess and was given a $40 credit for something we won’t be using again ... they won’t credit back my credit card for missing meals. By the way, my mom said the packing slip listed all six meals even though she only received four meals so someone obviously got into the box before delivery. It was sealed with tape when she got it. So you tell me what you think. Something stinks at this app.

Love Freshly....but

I love this service. I have tried many of the meals and as expected some are better than others. However overall...very pleased and do highly recommend this app.
Customer Service is excellent and the rare occasion that there has been an issue with a delivery they immediately made it right.
Now the but....(and this is based on a personal preference level).
1). I pretty much only eat seafood and I wish there was more of a selection. As of this week the best seafood meal is gone (Low Country Boil) and sadly I will likely suspend my service until more seafood is available. There are a couple of meals with fish still available but they virtually have no flavor, they are so bland. I just completed a survey about some possible upcoming options which seem to include some Cajun style choices. I’m from the Gulf Coast and those are my kind of flavors.
2). The weight of the box is an issue. The ice is so heavy that I unfortunately have to open the box outside and bring things into the house separate. I saw this mentioned in the reviews as well.

Awesome!

I have tried pretty much every meal planning service on the face of the earth at this point. I’ve been waiting for this app to come to my area, and finally! It’s here! I’ve only had one delivery so far but I am absolutely thrilled with the service and the quality of the meals. This is such a wonderful easy way to eat healthy, and because I don’t have the cooking and cleanup, it’s also stopping me from eating out as often. The meals are perfectly portioned and filling. My first delivery there was only one meal that I didn’t particularly enjoy, but the rest were great! My only complaint is that the meals don’t change as often as I would like. Being that I just started I have lots of new meals to try, but I imagine in a few months I may start skipping weeks only because the meals stay mostly the same. Freshly is very handy and even has a function to chat with staff, which has been very helpful when I had questions. So far this is my favorite, and if they start rotating more meal changes I will definitely be staying with them!

Very upsetting

I have never used a company before I have now been receiving food for I believe it’s going to be five weeks because the first week I was supposed to receive food the food never got there the second week I was supposed to receive the food it got there a day late and they did not even give me a notice of the delay not only that when it finally got there they substituted over half my order without my consent, And every single time I have received my weekly shipment it has been replaced for whatever they feel like it without my consent without advising me that they were going to change anything. I will say that they have always given me a credit but how many credits are you going to continue to give me until you get it right these people have made the same mistake more than four times the onlyReason why I’m giving them two stars is because they have giving me a credit each time but still I should not have to receive the wrong food half of the food I don’t even like because it’s not some thing that I eat and they just replace it with whatever they feel like it without even asking via email text etc.

Taste/preference - we’re all different - worth the journey

I’ve made a point of trying various dishes over several weeks to get a true overview of the quality of the meals and the service.

Overall I’m delighted. Obviously I prefer some meals over others. The meals I love are incredible - the one’s I don’t, for me are a flop. Fortunately, there are more I prefer than don’t. I could give a detailed review of each meal I’ve tried and those I can’t wait to re-order while others I’d never order again but it’s more important to note that we are all different and our preferences/tastes are equally subjective.

Everyone needs to try the various choices of meals that appeal to them to honestly determine for themselves what they prefer.

Customer service is excellent and very responsive/efficient at addressing any questions/concerns and focus on resolving it timely.

My biggest and fairest criticism is about the shipping, which could be easily resolved with clearer communication and/or if necessary additional labeling. Sometimes I’ve received a box of meals that has clearly been turned over during the shipment making the food move within the packaging and sometimes are sticking to the top. My recommendation to prevent this is to either advise the shipper to ensure that they keep the box upright throughout the shipping process or, add/include an arrow label on each box showing/insisting that it be kept upright during shipment.

Love it !!!

Started about a month ago with 6 meals and we love it so much we decided to proceed with 9 meals. Food is Amazing ! Very convenient for everyone I would say, it makes life so much easier, you don’t have to employ your time on cooking it’s already cooked for you! Let me start by saying they are very punctual, our food gets deliver every Monday around 7:00 am, nice delivery guy by the way. In Freshly you get to choose what type of dish you would like, there are a variety of great dishes , so you will never get tired of eating the same thing over and over again. You can rate the dishes also, that’s great that way they know if people enjoyed or not. The only thing that I wish they had is more options on the plans , they currently have 6 meals, 8 meals , 9 meals or 12 meals. I think they should add a 10 meal instead of 9 that doesn’t make sense to me, other than that We love it ! It’s really been a life changer for us. I will definitely recommend !

Bad experience

Started off as a great app then they updated it to this hideous clunky thing and began to add meals that were nasty. Prices have gone up significantly but the food quality has not. Loaded with sodium.

As for the service... Most recently I have encountered 3 weeks of back to back issues. The first week the delivery people dumped the box in the alley way behind my house and a neighbor had to notify me the next day it was back there - nothing at this app told me it had arrived or where. The second week the delivery was delayed a day and then eventually never delivered at all. This was again repeated the following week with the same delay and then never shows up.

Each time I chat with service reps they try to credit my account which ends up going toward the boxes of food that never arrive. And then when you contact them again the following week when your order fails again that credit is erased. So essentially they keep discounting boxes of food that never arrive... so you’re just stuck with a charge on your account and your money in limbo until you’re refunded and no food. Bad for those on a budget who forgo buying groceries for this pricy service that doesn’t seem to deliver.

Awful

I have had and canceled this service two separate times.

As many have stated they started out great. At the beginning of the pandemic they began to mess up orders weekly. While they offer partial refunds in the form of a credit towards your account they never offer to refund your credit card or send the meals you’re missing. I canceled the service because they couldn’t get my order correct and seemed unconcerned. I chalked it up to high demand with the pandemic at the time.

Fast forward about a year and I decide to give them another try. First couple weeks go great but I notice the portions seem smaller than before. Around week 4 or 5 I get a delivery that has none of the meals I ordered in it. I don’t complain as I’m going out of town and forgot to skip the service anyway. I skip the next two weeks and when my subscription resumes every order from then on is messed up. I order the bowls and get bison burgers or have meals swapped with lasagna that I didn’t order. I finally complain to this app and they offer me a $15 credit to my account. I canceled that day and have already signed up with a competitor of theirs. I will not be going back. I do not recommend them to anyone.

Worst experience but had high hopes

I’m just going to be very forward. I was extremely excited for my box. To the point where I didn’t even go grocery shopping, so I had very little food in the house.
First and foremost I didn’t receive my referral discount but that’s not the focus of this review.
When it came time for the delivery I received an email assuring me it was delivered. I WAS HOME. I looked outside and did not see a package. No one knocked no one rang. I waited the entire day in case it was marked delivered early. By 9 o clock that same night no package. I had spent over 100 dollars with no package. So now I’m out money and out food. I filed a claim with the delivery company who immediately told me to reach out to this app. this app said that the delivery company will investigate and contact me with information. Another frustrating point.
Finally I was confronted with just getting a refund, which would be fine except yet again I still did not have any food! I’ve used many box services in the past and never had an issue. I live in a decent neighborhood and never had a package stolen. In fact I had other packages delivered that day that I received no problem. I feel cheated.

First Responder Meals of Choice

I normally work seven, 12 hour shifts at an air ambulance base. I am on call and cannot leave. If I prepare a meal at the station, I might get a call halfway through the preparation and be gone for hours at a moments notice. I could meal prep for the week and freeze half of the portions. But no matter what on that last day you are eating 7 day old food. I could get frozen dinners from Walmart if I liked eating the same three meals that I can stand for weeks at a time. Plus with the added risk of COVID exposure every time I go into the ONE place that everyone in my town now gathers at.
But instead I have this app!! I have a wide variety of delicious food that I can microwave at work and enjoy. They always arrive sealed in a cold box that I have had outside in Texas heat for over six hours and they were still frozen and fresh. I don’t have to fight with the people hoarding hamburgers at Walmart or spend hours in line getting exposed to them. FANTASTIC SERVICE!!

Hey this app,

Thank you for helping me change my life! In the last 2.5 months, I have gone from 240lb to 215lb thanks to the savings of time, money, and calories I gained by joining this app. I work full-time with a 2hr minimum round trip commute, and used to stop at the store after work to overspend on dinner, cook the dinner, the overeat the dinner, or just order pizza or take out. Since joining this app, I’ve gained back 3 hrs in my day that have been invested in time at the gym or running. The meals are VERY delicious and satisfying, and since it is easy for me to eat well during the day (salads and natural food) and no longer fail at dinner, it has almost been easy to lose weight! It really was a life changing decision. I know there are a lot of other meal companies out there, but I believe in eating real and healthy food in order to be satisfied. Meals are easy to manage with Freshly and the price point is great!

Love freshly!

We LOVE this app! I work second shift so I have a hard time cooking and we constantly eat out. We’ve both gained a ton of weight since I changed shifts and no longer have time to cook healthy food. We have only eaten this app meals for a couple of weeks but every single meal we’ve tried has been delicious. You can choose how you eat- if you want to eat low cal, low carb, etc, and all of the ingredients, macros, and nutritional info is available to you. The portions are great. You feel full but it’s not too much food. It’s the perfect amount of food to be satiated. The proteins aren’t chewy like I expected re-heated chicken and beef to be. It’s moist, tender, and delicious. The only thing I would change is to switch up the selection more each week, but it looks like they’re working on that. There’s one new meal each week as well as seasonal options. We are hooked!

I wanted to try it out because it’s just my husband and I and sometimes we spend a lot of money and time cooking our meals . With all the ingredients we have to buy sometimes a meal for him and I come out to close 60 -70 dollars and I sometimes end up throwing away certain ingredients because I don’t need an entire bunch of cilantro or celery so we thought what the heck we’ll give this a shot . I was so impressed first of all the way it comes shipped . Ice packets and all . I’m a pretty big eater lol! When I I usually buy a frozen dish I have to buy 2 because the portions are small but this? Omg the portions are perfect I get so full . It’s awesome! The food? So so tasty as if someone just cooked it for you . I love it so much . I’ve told all my friends and family. I will continue being a this app customers as long as their in business . Pleasantly surprised and quite full

This is probably our 5th test drive of a meal delivery service. We’ve hated them ALL... until this app! this app has none of the hoops to jump through to get what you want and no garbage ingredients many other meal services have. The portions feel generous (hey, that’s coming from a plus size gal with an appetite)! The food is amazing! And real meals you’re actually going to want to eat... not foo-foo nonsense slapped together to sound or look impressive on a plate!
Freshly is also super user friendly and there’s no pressure... I can cancel at any moment! My only wish is that they had more low carb meal options for my keto eating hubby. But they do have a few!
I am SO excited to continue ordering. It’s saving me a fortune because we aren’t eating out for our lunches at all anymore (my budget thanks you)!

Tasty food, convenient app!

As much as I enjoy cooking, I have been working long hours and can’t always bring myself to prepare a healthy dinner. this app’s food reliably arrives on time, tastes great, and is quite healthy! I have been using the service for about a month and only two meals I have tried haven’t been delicious. I like that the meals don’t include excess salt or sugar and focus on providing protein, vegetables, and whole grains. The meals are very filling and satisfying even though the portions aren’t too big.

In order to improve the service, I recommend providing more seafood and vegetarian options. As someone who doesn’t eat red meat, chicken and turkey can get boring after a while! Also, it would be great if they could introduce new dishes a bit more often for those who use the service frequently.

Overall, happy with the reliability and quality of the service and will continue to use it.

The good does not outway the bad

While I enjoyed the food and the ease of having pre-made meals delivered, this did not outweigh the cons that occurred from my first delivery. My first delivery included 5 of the 6 meals that I had paid for. Customer service was great in apologizing and giving me an in-store credit immediately and guaranteed me that issues like these were very rare, so I decided to try again.

The second week, I was informed a day before my delivery was scheduled that I would not have a delivery this week. Which was a major inconvenience due to the fact that meal planning and prepping for the week had already been completed. The store did indeed give me another in-store credit and a refund, but my previous in-store credit was erased.

I had gone against my better judgement to try this app after reading numerous reviews expressing similar concerns with delivery as mine. I love the idea of the service and the food itself, but if the meals are unable to be consistently delivered as ordered than it is not a reliable service and causes more of an inconvenience than anything else.

Convenient and Tasty!

These meals have been incredibly convenient and taste great too! I was eating fast food almost every day as it was fast and easy, but with these meals I’ve cut that down considerably and lost some weight too! I’m single and I tried other meal delivery programs but still ended up with too much food and I was often too tired to cook after a long day, but this app makes it easy! Would definitely recommend to those with busy lifestyles! Only thing I would recommend is watching the expiration date. I get 6 meals and have been eating them nightly and didn’t realize the expiration date is for only a few days after my meals are delivered. I haven’t had any issues with eating them past this date, but this could become problematic if you ordered 12 meals. Otherwise this a great program!
