So much worse than Health Equity

Ease of Use- 0 star. Very complicated
Dependent fund is not updated. Health equity has has the money added every month ready for reimbursement or payment for dependent care expenses. Benefit wallet only has the one from January.
Benefit wallet is asking for receipts even though it is health care eligible. It keeps asking for receipts from online purchases which does not provide detailed invoice. I used to purchase those items with health equity with no problems at all.
Customer service contact option is only through call. No option for email or live chat.

Not userfriendly

Takes longer to use than other health reimbursement systems. If you have all your receipts and info on your phone like me, you cannot go back and forth from other screens and back to this apps’s screen, it erases alll of your input!!! I had to restart my claim 4 times. You need to write down all your info in order to go through the process in one shot staying on BenefitWallet screen. I can’t believe this is what we are stuck with!! Can we rally and have this company fix these hurdles and problems or get the boot??!!! :( verrrry annoyed!!!!

Denying claims without an answer

No chat option and never answers the 800 #. When they deny claims, they don’t give a reason why! Then you don’t have a way to find out why because they don’t answer the number they say to call!!! I have been on hold all day so far and no answer, how convenient for them to ignore the call!! I am sure I will get the excuse that they don’t have enough operators to answer the volume of calls which tells us that it’s a very bad ran business and possibly corrupt!!! Businesses act like your time is worthless and you have days to deal with them, this mindset is so psychotic to think it’s ok!! It isn’t okay!! It’s my money and hire your company to do a job it can’t do!!! I will be sure to share this with my company since it’s not a benefit but a problematic problem and a waste of time that I can’t get back.

Too complicated not user friendly at all

I have never used a FSA that was so complicated and difficult to use - I have had HSA or FSA for years and this one is the most difficult of them all. I have ended up paying the majority of my medical bills out of my own pocket because this one keeps denying the claim even when it is an approved medical issue! I don’t like this Benefit Wellness at all!!! Will not renew my FSA next year - it is easier to just put money in an account and let it draw some interest and use it for medical payments then save receipts and use it for tax purposes!

Worst Customer Service Ever

After their supposed outage not allowing anyone to access their money now it’s been a week and they still haven’t released any money. I put in the request on the first and called on the third. Then I called again on the 6 and was told they haven’t processed it because I didn’t call to have it released and that’s 100% untrue. I’ve explained I need the money to see my Dr. to do blood work so my medication can be adjusted. Now I’m told it will be another week before it’s released. This is people’s health you’re playing games with and it’s not amusing whatsoever.

App Cannot Do What Matters Most

BenefitWallet is worthless beyond seeing how much money is left in your FSA or HSA accounts. Through BenefitWallet you would not now if your card was shut off due to a $10 dentist charge that was not covered. For that charge you could not use BenefitWallet to take a picture of any documentation you need like every other app that deals with receipts and finances on the market today. BenefitWallet is a paper weight because it cannot do the simplest things. In 2022 it must be by design, your company gets to keep any unused FSA money. It is their job to make it as hard to spend it as possible. So Benefit wallet as a company is great for their companies and bad for their employees. That is why BenefitWallet is so bad.

Difficult and not intuitive

BenefitWallet is difficult to get right. Every time something is entered wrong or has the wrong settings you have to start over with the claim. I just entered a claim three times before BenefitWallet took it. First I had to turn on the camera in the settings…and start over. Second BenefitWallet wanted me to share my photos even though I was just looking to take a picture and use it…and start over. BenefitWallet also defaults the beginning and ending date of service to the CURRENT DATE. And if you don’t change it to the actual date your claim will likely be denied…and you will have to start over. IMO this is a very poorly written app.

Need major improvements

When you submit a reimbursement it doesn’t show as pending immediately. I accidentally submitted my first reimbursement twice because of this. You also can’t go in and see what you’ve submitted (like the details of anything or your uploaded receipts). I don’t get any notifications about my transactions. Additionally, my first reimbursement was issued as a paper check despite my putting my electronic banking info. I had to call to find out only the first one is required to be send via paper check. We used to use EZ Receipts and I found it a lot better. This feels like a major step back. Please make improvements to BenefitWallet .

Crappy company and customer service.

TERRIBLE company and customer service- if I could give 0 stars I would. I had an HSA opened via my company and after 6 months still hadn’t received my card nor any information from here - called customer service and they proceeded to tell me that my address on file with them wasn’t what I was providing despite it being where I’ve lived since before I started at my current job and is the address my job has on file for me.

Instead of letting me validate myself another way in order to be able to access the money IVE been paying into so I can get some medical things taken care of, they said they’d have to email me a form and I’d then have to take my own time to go get it notarized and mail it back to them. Literally calling back today to have them close the entire account and cash out what I’ve paid into it. Terrible. Seriously, terrible.

Buggy

BenefitWallet used to allow expense reimbursements. I tried reporting a “profile name cannot be blank” error message both to BenefitWallet developer and institution managing funds but no action.

Update 01 Mar 2023 - the new version seems to work now. I had to reset my password and re-enter my bank account info but it seemed to allow reimbursement. Let’s see if it my request will get processed correctly but I am hopeful as it looks as good as requests made 4 months ago. Thank you for the developer response. I would recommend a free backup plan for participants - get a free bank signature card signed so you can write checks to reimburse yourself. I am still waiting for my checks and hope to never need them.

Update 04 May 2023 - the problem seems to be the company providing service more than BenefitWallet . Transfer requests seem to take forever (waited almost a month for my last request) and app does not give any estimates of completion. No way to get support by email so you are put on hold for an hour or more. Everything worked so much smoother last year.

Don’t make it easy

BenefitWallet doesn’t allow background switching while drafting a submission. It also doesn’t allow pasting a TIN. It’s very annoying if you try to switch out to get information, because when you switch back you have to re-login and start the submission form over again. Then you have to have a side note with the service TIN, and the receipt docs already downloaded or printed. I guess making it more difficult to get your own money back is probably not a bug, it’s a feature, especially with higher interest rates, but it would be nice to change it.

Not well thought out interface

First, the flow of the interface leaves much to be desired and small choices that were made by the designers lead to headaches for the users. As an example, if you upload pics for documentation but have to go back to a prior page, when you return to the documentation page, the pics are gone and you have to retake them. Common sense leans strongly to the pics staying there as status quo and if users do not want them, they can delete them. Far easier to delete the pics than having to retake them.

Update The “Attach/Take A Photo”

Everything was easy to use EXCEPT the “attach/take a photo” feature. I have submitted the same reimbursement multiple times because the image is blurry. This is the only online program that has this problem! Update the program to use the camera options that find the margin and lock in on the image. Also extend the “time out” period! I have to go between apps to get information and when I leave the Benefit Wallet app it logs me out! Frustrating!

Not user friendly

I gave it a 2 star because it is not user friendly as the actual web page. You can not open the denied claims and it doesn’t allow you to include the mileage. This is a very simple app that was just put together for very simple claims. I miss my prev ious benefits app. That one was very user friendly. It tallowed me to resolve the denied claims with my phone app. I don’t understand why my job switched to this service. Ugh BenefitWallet is frustrating and the payment process is not friendly either. The whole process is bad.

Finally fixed “Profile name cannot be blank” issue for reimbursement

Kept getting “Profile name cannot be blank” message when trying to reimburse myself since end of January. The fix is to put your bank institution name in the field called Account nickname if depositing to you account. See path below. I called customer service to get this info. Reimburse Myself>Edit Account>Account Nickname

No worries

With this plan if u leave the company you will not lose money that u put in or at the end of the year you don’t have to rush spending the money, I have had this for over 4 years now and really like it a lot , also you can invest too, which makes it even more positive with this company

Review of app

BenefitWallet is pretty easy to use, my only recommendation is there should be a delete or edit option. I have created many reimbursement claims with errors in amounts/attachments/wrong date entered/wrong dependent entered/ or just a duplicate claim that could of been edited or deleted right when submitted. But instead they go through the whole process of being denied. Such a waste of time to go that route.

I take back my previous review

I take back my 1 star review and now give it 4 stars. They fixed whatever problem was keeping me from getting a simple confirmation. Screens still don’t scroll quite right, and the keyboard continues to cover the active field, but I now feel a bit better about this company that touches my money.

Late September 2020 update: lost all my stored provider information. Now I have to load it again. And to add insult to injury, there was some kind of bug that won’t let me add a provider.

I’m hoping I’ll be able to add funds to my account without a hitch.

Choose a file to upload

This is for iPhone users. Would you do us a favor to allow users choose file to upload not only from Download folder but also from Google Drive, Dropbox, etc… Would you do us a favor to keep BenefitWallet consistent with website. I uploaded a required document thru website, app still showing “document required” Would you do users a favor to keep users posted whether or not a uploaded document is accepted and things are cleared and good to go. Just few common sense first before you can implement “Barcode Scanning” perhaps???

Ensure you allow the app to access you photos to work properly.

BenefitWallet is fine. For a long time the upload photo wouldn’t work for me, so I wrote a review. The developers got back to me asking for details. Upon responding I realized it didn’t give BenefitWallet full permission to my photos. Once I did this, I am now able to upload a photo of the bill I’m paying.
