Key Benefits of Shapr

- SHAPR is an excellent resource for networking, especially for serious-minded entrepreneurs who are open-minded to other business opportunities outside of what they are currently doing.

- SHAPR presents 15 or more new contacts every 24 hours, free of charge, and for a nominal fee, users can increase that number by dozens every 24 hours.

- Users can post a picture, list up to 10 profile descriptions, write a paragraph up to 250 words about their pursuits and/or interests, list preferred ways to connect with a match, and even include computer links (including their own business website).

- The app enables introverts to explore a platform that allows them to meet new people who have similar goals and interests and actually act upon their connection through voice calls, video calls, coffee meetups, etc.

- The app is simple to use, and users can fill out basic information about themselves and add goals and tags relating to their interests. From there, SHAPR sends them a batch of people based on their goals and interests.

Love the app do not love the glitches.

I’ve been using the free and paid version off and on since 2016 and I’ve met all of my clients on it along with some super key people in my network. It’s an incredible app for networking. I’m excited for them to release a US version of the job finder they have in France. The only reason I didn’t give a five star review was because Shapr is super glitchy, ie; you swipe yes and come back into Shapr and it’s gives you those same profiles to swipe again. Or if I do a search, it often tends to glitch to an error page “Oops, something went wrong... our development team has been notified”
Aside from the annoying glitches this is one of my favorite apps and I highly recommend it to anyone in business.

Experience probably based on area.

I have been using this app for two months now and it has been a strange experience to say the least. Most of the profiles that I see in a day are incomprehensible. Sometimes I’m pretty sure I’m viewing fake profiles (when I see the same profile back to back with the same interests and same weirdly worded bio but with different names and different pics). I also get the impression that some profiles are fake because there are no links and a bio cuts off mid-word as though the folks at this app have been pulling data from LinkedIn.

I am in Memphis, TN and most days there isn’t any Memphis resident whose profile I can check out. Usually I’m seeing Georgia or Chicago or somewhere in Canada. If the primary purpose was to actually meet people beyond the internet, that’s not helpful to me. I need to see my community first and then increasingly further out.

I also don’t understand the logic of matching either. Maybe some days there just aren’t enough profiles to match my key words against, but there are many days where most of the profiles I’m given have no matching interests at all.

I’ve matched with several folks in the past month. Most aren’t anywhere close to me. So it makes it very hard to get myself to use Shapr on a daily basis when it’s clear that my likelihood of interacting with someone in person is in the single digits.

Fun, better than LinkedIn for targeted, rapid-fire networking

I’ve made a few connections that look like they will be definitely turn out to be interesting and informative if not altogether productive. (We’re still booking the appointments - haven’t actually sat down over coffee with any of these folks yet.

Agree with other reviewers who groused about the inability to “swipe” back. Once or twice I accidentally swiped the wrong way (you get muscle memory from all the ones you reject), once or twice I had a second thought after rejecting. Also it would be nice to see the profiles i approved and at awaiting approval from the other side. There were one or two of those who (I think) would be really compelling connections, might like to try to find them on twitter or linked in. Would also be cool to be able to message people who didn’t swipe you back.

Amazing app for networking!

As an introvert, it’s very hard for me to go out and actively talk to people and because of this I’ve started reaching out to more people via social media and things of the like. this app has alllowed me to explore a platform which enables me to meet new people who have similar goals and interests, and actually act upon our connection through voice calls, video calls, coffee meetups, etc. Everything is really simple, too. You fill out basic information about yourself and from there you can add goals and tags relating to your interests. From there, this app sends you a batch of people based on your goals and interests. You swipe right if you’d like to meet with a person, and left if you’d prefer not to. Think Tinder and LinkedIn in one app.

I can’t thank the developers of this app enough...

About 6 months ago I matched and met up with a local tech entrepreneur because of Shapr. We immediately started working together on one of his previously sidelined ventures until about two months ago when Hurricane Harvey hit Texas. We shifted all focus onto his nonprofit, The Cajun Relief Foundation, and stood up the Texas Navy Facebook page to facilitate and organize citizen-led rescues in Texas. Since then my life has dramatically changed for the better and I would love the opportunity to speak to one of the developers to be able to tell my entire story because I could write a novel just about my last two months. Thank you again and I hope to hear from you soon!

The Best of the Best

Genius! It’s amazing App, someone that creates thinking about real people, real interest, real propose, and more,,, they give us some days to connect with the person based on our interests. Some people do not agree about the time to swipes each time they have but believe me, this is the best way to know people so, we have a break and a chance to know each other much better or if not we had another chance and keep going till find someone that matches,,
Unfortunately some people don’t describe what they are looking for, waste my time on swipes!!!!!!
Meet or not meeting it’s up to your needs and work developments,
KEEP IN MIND THAT IT’S NOT A DATING APP !!!!
Fabulous, thank you so much for give to us this brilliant idea!

A Must for Entrepreneurs

this app is essential for entrepeneurs in the mobile age. Especially if you travel. I've met all sorts of interesting people from all walks of life I'd never meet otherwise. Some have become clients. Some have become friends. And some you'll never hear from again. It's an easy way to publicize your company or services direct to potential clients and collaborators and to expand your network every day. I use this app at home and while traveling and can't recommend this enough. I've seen the reach and the reliability increase tremendously over the past two years and I'm excited to see where it goes as they continue to develop.

We need more

Shapr has wonderful potential, however, the in-app purchase is too forced. Having connections with professionals in the field is a wonderful thing and we shouldn’t have to pay $20/month (Which is absolutely absurd) just to send one message to a professional who swipes right on you. Also, you only get 12 swipes per 24 hours or so and you even count the X’ed swipes which is also bad. In a world where individuals are only trying to better themselves, you are forcing us to pay for Shapr when it’s inconveniencing us badly. Your UX/UI for Mobile is frustrating because it gives us no valuable inspiration aside from a quote that is way too large and then another forced ad to buy your PRO version. I want Shapr to succeed, but you need to fix a lot of things in order for that to happen.

totally inaccessible to blind users

No effort seems to have been made to make Shapr accessible using voiceOver which is what blind people use for access on an iPHone. There are apparently simple tools Apple provides to developers for accessibility support. At least it's developers who do support VoiceOver who tell me how easy it is. I was able to struggle through creating a profile but cannot do the swiping or other connection-making tasks for which Shapr exists. Creating and editing the profile was also a piece of work. I tried contacting the developer before posting this but could not find a way to do that. The web site seems to support only the problems they have already addressed. Good work putting up a barrier for the people who most need tools like this.

Nothing yet

So far it seems most individuals are wanting to sell me on a new job or trying to help kick start a work from home job. Makes it seem like most are here just to recruit people and not make a real connection. I’ve been on it 2 months and it’s the same message of “I am here to help others kick start a new opportunity working etc.”

Would be interesting to know how we match since most I’ve matched with don’t have the selections I’ve put and the location too. Seems more of the profiles may be fake. I was excited to try since I just relocated and an article made it seem they connected with authentic individuals who want a meaningful connection and to gain new knowledge.

Still will try but not going to pay for the upgrade again sadly.

I would suggest an improvement...

I think Shapr is a great way to move forward for many people who are looking for likeminded individuals. I would say that many of the terms however, (these ones: #AppDevelopment) are superfluous and it would be nice if the developers considered creating something like MeSH terms used in pubmed, that would capture/match a broader audience that is interested in the same topic but calls it a different name.

I saw comments that 18 hits are not enough. I must be honest in that this was my first impression. However, let's not ignore the fact of life: information overload. I am sure that one is less likely to contact anyone with 10 hits/day. Now make that 1 hit/day, and the chances of contacting someone are greater. If the above suggestion is implemented however, the amount of hits and relevance could greatly improve, even with 18 swipes.

Comments about need for longer biographies?! I personally skip the long ones, because if you could not (at least in written form) fit the most important aspects in a few lines, you lost my interest.

Keep maintaining the good work!

Don’t Install App. Data mining App WITHOUT consent

this app is far from a networking app. Often people whom you’ve matched with do not even know that you’ve matched. As a seasoned pro in the arts for over 45 years and counting. Shapr doesn’t even ‘nudge’, or notify the person that you are a business match. I’ve had people whom are far from the industry on Shapr that didn’t know we’ve connected. From a food services worker to ‘retired’ person which doesn’t fit the bill.
When you attempt to remove a specific person by ‘unmatched’ category, it remains on your ‘say hello’ contact.

When you actually paid for Shapr as well, the area needing tremendous work is ‘they swiped you right’. When 19 appeared on ‘they swiped you right’ and I’ve dismissed ALL of them. ALL of the same exact 19 people that have ‘swiped you right’ are still there.

****get rid of Shapr permanently****
Way too many bugs and glitches when you sync your LinkedIn profile with Shapr .
This is just a glorified amped up Craigslist app that has no relevance in the algorithm it’s created. Nor any business association with LinkedIn. It’s obviously has nothing to begin with. So why does it use LinkedIn if it’s such a wonderful networking app...? It doesn’t and it won’t on my end. WOT.

Major security breach.

Please fix

I am a daily swiper on Shapr. I love this platform. I have met some amazing people on here. My problem is that I log in and no people to come up to swipe even with a perfect connection. I think it's a bug, if so please give us the next update asap. Keep up the great work. I give glowing reviews about this app to everyone. It's a big part of my life being on here and I would hate to leave after 4 years of making connections.

Almost perfect

I love the idea of Shapr and as an online student who doesn't get all the same opportunities to meet people in my desire industry it's such a great tool. The only thing I don't like is how long I have to wait until I can get my new set of matches. The first time I used it and it was only about a 2 or 3 hour wait I figured that was fine I can check before work, during my break and then again when I get home. But every time I went through my matches it increase the time now I have to wait a whole 24 hours before I can see my next set of matches and if you don't match with anyone then it's disappointing. An unlimited amount of matches would be ideal.

Has its pros and cons

Shapr is pretty good overall. I love that you can connect with other professionals, which makes it feel less fickle than say Tinder. It acts much like Tinder in that you can swipe left or right with people you’d like to connect with. The issue I’ve found is that I seem to connect with people that start to engage with me as if they want to get to know me, but then they quickly turn it into a sales pitch as if they’re trying to sell me their products. Didn’t know Shapr was for that. I end up unmatching them right away. Shapr needs more options in narrowing down what you’re looking for with other likeminded people to avoid that issue from always happening.

Free version lost its mojo

If you’re interested in this concept be ready to pay for the premium version because the free version is lacking at best.

On the free version you occasionally find someone mildly interesting but most of the potential connections are looking to sell you something. I’m presuming this app runs an algorithm that weeds out the people you actually want to meet to get you to pay for Shapr so you can meet the people you do. This wasn’t always the case. In fact, I was an early user and met many great people. Now I’m lucky if I find a match worth following up with once every few weeks.

I blindly hope they improve the algorithm for the free version but they probably won’t and I’ll likely stop using it.

By

I like the concept, but noticed a few bugs

Bugs

#1 When I’m adding my interests, some of them float to the right and are not visible, making me unable to see or remove them.

#2 Whenever I click on anything that brings up the pop up for buying the pro version, there is no way to close the pop up, forcing me to close Shapr .

I’m disappointed that you cannot add your location with the free version. Shapr is basically non-functional if you cannot find people near you. 14/15 of my swipes today were people out of state, it’s not practical to drive that far or ask someone else to drive that far, and meeting in person is important to me as opposed to video chat. It would be awesome if you added some geolocation features to the free version, I understand that you need to incentivize the pro version, but maybe you could shoot for something like 3 people in my area per 15 swipes with the free version, and 10-15 for the paid version.

Other than that, I love the concept and it will be a great tool for meeting others with similar interests, networking, and career building.

Features hidden behind paywall

So, it’s an interesting concept, except 90% of what you want to do with Shapr is hidden behind paying for a subscription. They’ll tell you that you can message your matches, but unless that person actually subscribed, they’re not going to be able to respond to your swipe. You’re better off using other networking methods unless you have the ability to pay for it. You can set up your account and interests, but if anyone swipes right on you, you are unable to respond unless you subscribe. Most of the users aren’t going to pay the $20/month just to maybe get a match that meets their standards. At least you can view their linked accounts, so if you do use the free version, make sure to link your third party accounts.

Potential. Not quite there yet.

I enjoy the opportunity to connect with people and have already met a few people and even connected with one, however, there are a number of areas where this concept falls short.

My biggest gripe is the overwhelming lack of people I actually want to connect with, and then the inherent limit of only 20 per day. So I view my connections, half of them are typically individuals I have no desire or need to connect with, and then it’s over for 24 hours. I do nothing else. Frustrating.

My second gripe though is that people simply aren’t using Shapr often enough, primarily because (I’m going out on a limb here) there is no need to open it more than once a day, if that.

Overall it’s a decent app with a lot of room for growth but there simply isn’t enough to do to hold my interest or keep me using it. I churn through my 20 in less than 5 minutes. I send off a few messages to people, respond to a couple others, and I move on.

Frankly, I can find my own connections directly through LinkedIn searches and not be limited by some random limits.
