Horrible app. Impossible to log in. Even harder to change password. Put in data such as local area and 90% of matches were not even on this continent. Was told that over 50 people swiped "right" on my profile. Purchased a 1 month trial and all the 50 names disappeared.

Shapr is far from a networking app. Often people whom you’ve matched with do not even know that you’ve matched. As a seasoned pro in the arts for over 45 years and counting. This app doesn’t even ‘nudge’, or notify the person that you are a business match. I’ve had people whom are far from the industry on this app that didn’t know we’ve connected. From a food services worker to ‘retired’ person which doesn’t fit the bill.
When you attempt to remove a specific person by ‘unmatched’ category, it remains on your ‘say hello’ contact.
When you actually paid for the app as well, the area needing tremendous work is ‘they swiped you right’. When 19 appeared on ‘they swiped you right’ and I’ve dismissed ALL of them. ALL of the same exact 19 people that have ‘swiped you right’ are still there.

Way too many bugs and glitches when you sync your LinkedIn profile with the app.
This is just a glorified amped up Craigslist app that has no relevance in the algorithm it’s created. Nor any business association with LinkedIn. It’s obviously has nothing to begin with. So why does it use LinkedIn if it’s such a wonderful networking app...? It doesn’t and it won’t on my end. WOT.
Major security breach.

So, it’s an interesting concept, except 90% of what you want to do with the app is hidden behind paying for a subscription. They’ll tell you that you can message your matches, but unless that person actually subscribed, they’re not going to be able to respond to your swipe. You’re better off using other networking methods unless you have the ability to pay for it. You can set up your account and interests, but if anyone swipes right on you, you are unable to respond unless you subscribe. Most of the users aren’t going to pay the $20/month just to maybe get a match that meets their standards. At least you can view their linked accounts, so if you do use the free version, make sure to link your third party accounts.

I have been using Shapr for two months now and it has been a strange experience to say the least. Most of the profiles that I see in a day are incomprehensible. Sometimes I’m pretty sure I’m viewing fake profiles (when I see the same profile back to back with the same interests and same weirdly worded bio but with different names and different pics). I also get the impression that some profiles are fake because there are no links and a bio cuts off mid-word as though the folks at Shapr have been pulling data from LinkedIn.
I am in Memphis, TN and most days there isn’t any Memphis resident whose profile I can check out. Usually I’m seeing Georgia or Chicago or somewhere in Canada. If the primary purpose was to actually meet people beyond the internet, that’s not helpful to me. I need to see my community first and then increasingly further out.
I also don’t understand the logic of matching either. Maybe some days there just aren’t enough profiles to match my key words against, but there are many days where most of the profiles I’m given have no matching interests at all.
I’ve matched with several folks in the past month. Most aren’t anywhere close to me. So it makes it very hard to get myself to use the app on a daily basis when it’s clear that my likelihood of interacting with someone in person is in the single digits.
