Not Happy since they took over Blur

I had been using Blur for years because I have an injury that causes me to have memory issues. I woke up one day and this app asked me to log into my account. I didn't know the password or recognized this account so I clicked on forgot password. This is when I realized they had taken over my Blur account. I used the link to attempt to reset password to no avail. It then asked me for my phrase which I created 6-7 years ago prior to my injury so I don't remember. It doesn't give you an option to reset or a hint to your phrase. So I uninstalled this browser from my laptop and lost hundreds of passwords and account information because of this takeover. I would not recommend using this I was extremely happy with Blur. Thanks for nothing this app!!!

Just terrible

Every feature you want, that you sign up to use, that you’re excited about, turns out to be a hellish hassle. It either doesn’t work, is mummified in miles of red tape, or locked behind a half dozen extra hoops you have to jump through that they did not tell you about before you paid for their expensive subscription.

What’s worse, when (OR IF) you ever get it all working, suddenly one day it’s all f’ed up again. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to call customer service to get them to remove a random “flag” on my account that locked me out of critical features for LITERALLY NO REASON. Or if there are reasons, they are myriad, invisible, and (seemingly) entirely arbitrary. This goes for the masked cards and the phones mostly, but I’ve had so much trouble with this company, so much frustration and the same repetitive problems occurring over and over that you could practically set your watch by them.

On top of that, support is terrible. You’re lucky if they respond to 1 out of 10 support tickets.

Don’t use IronVest. Find something else, somewhere else.

Anywhere else.

Anime’s Blur for iOS

This password vault works pretty well on a Windows computer, but the implementation on iOS devices is very klunky and difficult to work with. EG, I got a new device that needs to be associated with an online account, with logon and password.
I want a randomly generated password with uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and characters in it, and reasonably long - say 12 or 14 length.
I’ll never remember the generated pw - it’s too meaningless and complicated. I want to generate it in a pw vault that I use for storage on my iPhone, and then copy and paste it into the password definition screen of Blur for use in my online password handling it provides for logging in automatically. That’s what Blur is for.
But I can’t use the paste function in Blur. It is disabled in IronVest for iOS.
So, I have to use another device to display it I my other vault app and type it in, or go retro and write it out and type it in, and this is a hassle AND it introduces the very real possibility of a typo, because I’m a very poor typist on this tiny frickin’ iPhone typewriter. THAT’S the whole point of using copy and paste.
But, no - I can’t use the paste function in Blur, and there is no option to enable the paste function in IronVest .
So, it’s a nice idea, very poorly implemented.
I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone who wants to use passwords longer than 5 characters/values, to use long passwords.

Still trying to get the hang of this

First, IronVest is a great idea which came highly recommended and I am still trying to get my head around it all. It seemed to work fine when I first started out but now I am foundering.

The iOS app does not seem to have the clean integration as the web version on the PC. Neither does it have much in the way of iPad-specific help.

The web version has extensive FAQs (the support team doesn't want you to call unless it's really important, I guess) but (nearly) nothing for Andriod or iOS apps.

Unfortunately, my iPad does not have a right click (the long press doesn't seem to cooperate as a right click either) so much of the website interaction and instruction is lost.

Right now, my iPad Safari no longer "sees" my Blur account, so I cannot record a new account nor change passwords on existing accounts through that browser. Same with the internal Blur Private Browser.

Without the help documentation, I don't know if this is pilot error or a design malfunction. Regardless, I'm crashing into the river now and am preparing for impact.

I can't see another way to contact support, so this review is a combination review and support ticket.

When I first downloaded Blur, everything seemed to work and I really think this will improve my workflow and security at the same time. Looking forward to moving forward.

Issues with phone app - cannot access password info

Love this app but last phone update for iOS app caused issues with inability to access some passwords and information for accounts loaded in system.

If I load the phone app and search for an account I KNOW is loaded - it will NOT appear. However, if I turn on my computer and load this app - tha account is there! VERY ANNOYING when I pay to have info saved and accessible and cannot get to it unless I get on my COMPUTER to look it up. What use is IronVest ???

Good, but not great

Blur affords access to a service that is, unfortunately, essential with the email masking and does it for free. The interface, though, is, to me, super clunky.

Partly because of its clunkiness and partly because I have other apps and solutions that I’ve been using comfortably and reliably for years, I haven’t explored much beyond the email masking. If that’s all IronVest did, I’d be fine with it. And, to be honest, I’d prefer it. It feels cluttered and awkward to have all the features in the single app instead of how some other developers have more of a suite of apps that can work together. I won’t use the browser because it’s not a standalone browser. Same for the password manager. It doesn’t seem like all that much, but it’s extra layers of stuff to get to what is already a couple of extra layers. I would consider upgrading to the paid tier if I could generate fresh phone numbers at will, the same as the email masking, but it looks like it’s limited to just a single number. But, I also don’t know how much of a logistical, legal, or financial complication that would be.

Ultimately, I highly recommend IronVest. It’s not the prettiest or easiest to use, but it gets a job done and seems to do it solidly when it comes to the email masking.

Great app, poor design

If you’re someone who constantly forgets their password and values their security, then Blur is for you. IronVest can be used by practically everyone and anyone. You don’t need to be tech-savvy to know how to use this application. It’s very simple to use and has supreme features that you can use in your everyday life. For example the masked cards, you can use it if you do not want your personal information - such as a credit card - out there. For the master password you can use your fingerprint so no worrying about anyone looking over your shoulder and memorizing your password. Instead you can just tap your home button and you are in. IronVest could improve on the basic design but its still simple. They should keep IronVest easy to use but the design should look a little more professional. Despite the poor design, it is still a good app.

It’s good, but there are better options

I’ve been using Blur/this app for a few years now. It’s overall good, but it isn’t great at anything. There are better privacy cc companies out there for cheaper, better email alias companies out there, better password managers out there. But wrapping that all up into one package is nice. I’m personally moving a different direction now in my life that is a bit more than what this app can provide (open source, cheaper/free as its run on my computer, less data tracking, etc…) but I would still recommend to the average user who wants to take their first steps into privacy and security.

Love it

I think Blur is a great app for someone like me who constantly forgets passwords on different websites that I log into. This is a great app that stores all the websites and passwords for you so now I won’t have to constantly request a new password if I forget my password. I also like the generator that helps you create secure passwords that is harder for someone to try and hack a site you are on or figure out your passwords easily. I would highly recommend IronVest it definitely is a huge help when it comes to helping remember passwords and securing them.

Never forget your passwords again!

IronVest is a must have for people who want their information available to them and protected at all times!
My favorite thing is the auto-lock part, since I’m always busy and sometimes leave my phone at my desk, I need to make sure all my most important information is always kept secure.
I also love the way IronVest manages my passwords: I used to have them all in a huge scrambled mess and could never remember which one belong to what, thanks to Blur I don’t have that issue anymore.
I definitely recommend IronVest!

Been using for I think about 6 years; best idea I’ve had.

As stated before it’s always syncing with your various devices and keeping your personal data like credit cards and emails, or what have you; blur is a life saver if you have a computer crash due to it being backed up automatically (using very heavy encryption) and you can also manually back it up to an offline drive with as much encryption as you need. Personally I love the masked cards feature: I still am waiting on a fraudulent purchase on one of my many cards lol.

10/10 totally worth it.

Enablers of Real Privacy

IronVest and the team behind it are amazing. The extent of how powerful IronVest can be is dependent on your level of determination and effort.

Clawing back control of my data and privacy is not an easy task. Using IronVest to its full extent is also not an easy task because it takes dedication and effort. However it has enabled me to go much further than I could previously, faster and more conveniently with the combination of tools available with the Premium subscription. Way worth the spend to say the least.

Five Stars

People just don't know how to use this amazing customizable app. It syncs across all devices and browsers except Safari. You can copy a password from your iPhone and paste it into your iPad or any browser or Safari page. It doesn't have the following of some others but customer support is outstanding and very fast. Indispensable. Great app.

Customer service is sometimes needed but they’re prompt and accurate. This has never been hacked. It is important to secure your account password and phrase somewhere but they tell you that. Can’t put the fault for not doing so on them. It’s been incredibly useful to me. Have used it for years.

Comprehensive All in One Tool

I can tell you that it is not as convenient as the browser extension, but it works perfectly with iOS and allows you to use all of its functionality. This application will allow you to create secure masked credit cards, masked phone numbers, generate strong passwords, securely store and safe account information, and mask your email so that you can be secure and giving out your email and not have to deal with endless spam. I’m a lifetime premium member who has been using this application since it’s inception. I strongly advise using this over any other tool in both browser and phone.

Convenient

With the risk of identity theft and credit card scams on the rise, Blur steps in to set those worries at ease. With a user friendly interface, it allows you to set up a string of e-mails and passwords to your frequented sites with private information that would make it impossible for anyone to hack into. Not only that, but it also provides you with the ability to mask your credit cards all under a single number. Just simply set a spending amount and Blur sets it up like a pre-paid card! That’s a feature that definitely makes me as a user feel a lot more comfortable providing sensitive information. With the surplus of features in the free subscription, the premium comes with even more. The ability to mask your phone number was one that stuck out the most. If you’re not comfortable giving out your real phone number, Blur will generate one for you to assist you in avoiding pesky telemarketers and also allow you to make private phone calls. All in all, Blur is an app that was designed for convenience and made to put the daily consumer’s mind at ease when it comes to the online marketplace and I would highly recommended it for everyone.

Great App for Freelancers!

As a freelancer, I have to navigate some really sketchy websites and clients. IronVest was like a god send for me. I can mask my phone number for a potential interview, that way I don’t get spammed with phone calls for months afterwards (trust me, I learned that lesson the hard way). I can send a masked email to Craigslist job ads. IronVest has really helped me to far.

I didn’t use the credit card masker yet, but I hope to dive into that area soon. I just don’t buy stuff online as much anymore :P I recently told my mom to download IronVest to help her remember her passwords and it works great! Thank god. No more early morning phone calls that my mom can’t remember her passwords. All she needs is ONE password for IronVest and she is good to go. Thank you Blur!!!!!

Really useful app!

At first I was a little skeptical about IronVest , but after using it for a while I now have an app to store all my emails and passwords for my games. I’ve been saving my password on my laptop, but I can’t exactly remember all of them. I’ll definitely be using IronVest for a long time. What’s also great about IronVest is that it can generate random emails and passwords for you if you want with options of passwords without numbers or special characters. This way you can have emails and passwords without too much personal information. Lastly, the tab marked iPhone Privacy really taught me how to change settings for certain apps. Almost forgot, I left IronVest for a sec and went back in and it asked for my Touch ID, putting in another layer of security!

Much Needed

I have been searching for an app where I can store all my passwords, because I've grown to have millions of different passwords for many different things related to my work and personal life and they always change. Coming across Blur, I noticed that the layout is very smooth and easy to navigate unlike other password storing apps that I've seen. Also, IronVest gives me a great sense of security as well that I can store my passwords and even my credit card info knowing that it will be protected. Even the masking feature is something that is nice, although I don't know too much about masking yet, I now want to learn more about it to use this feature of IronVest . Great app development. Definitely plan on purchasing the full membership once I get used to IronVest a little more

Fantastic Multi-function App

I use both the Blur App and Browser Extension every day. Blur offers terrific functions to secure your privacy such as: logins and passwords, masked e-mails, masked credit cards, and masked phone numbers. For example if I’m mildly interested in a website that asks for an email address in order to proceed, I use Blur to create a masked email — which will forward to my actual email address — so I truly appreciate that Blur gives me the control and choice as to with whom my information is shared. Another feature where Blur secures your privacy is on e-commerce sites. For example: online shopping through a popular, nationwide retailer that suffered a data breach where thousands of user credit cards were exposed — No worries for me because I masked my credit card with Blur. Highly recommend Blur (and its Premium Service) for everyday use. Keep up the great work, thanks.

Awesome :)

Overall, I like the look and feel of IronVest. What I like most about Blur is the password generator. Most people usually create passwords that are easy to remember but also easy to figure out. Blur ensures that the passwords aren’t going to be figured out easily. I am not too sure how I feel about putting my faith into a third-party solution to house my personal passwords though.
Blur is a great tool to generate and store your passwords. I recommend this product to anyone who needs help making more secure passwords or who may forget theirs easily!!!
