Bad App

Message to Rotten Tomatoes Support (Fandango):
Hi, I’m reaching out about the Rotten Tomatoes app on my iPad Pro. The fact that it’s locked in portrait mode is incredibly frustrating—especially on a premium device like the iPad Pro that’s designed for multitasking and landscape viewing.
I’ve spent the last half hour trying everything: rebooting, reinstalling, checking rotation lock, and even adjusting browser settings just to be sure. Still, RottenTomatoes stubbornly refuses to rotate. It’s disappointing that such a major platform doesn’t offer basic landscape support—something that’s essential for user experience on tablets.
Can you confirm whether landscape orientation is supported at all? If not, I’d really appreciate knowing whether this is on your roadmap, because the current limitation makes RottenTomatoes almost unusable in certain workflows.
Thank you.

Login Required

The first thing you’re hit with (apart from an ad interstitial) is a hard login wall with no option to bypass it. There is no need for RT to require users to authenticate in order for it to function properly, otherwise their website would do the same. And yet, there’s no way to use RottenTomatoes as an anonymous guest. I don’t mind logging in when it makes sense, like writing a review/comment. But to make it mandatory even for passive, read-only experiences, there’s no good excuse for it. Fandango has clearly made it mandatory only to 1) artificially boost their user base 2) track user information 3) use and/or sell that information to 3rd parties. I deleted RottenTomatoes immediately, which is a shame because like others, I too was excited to see it finally being released.

Where are the RT scores?

So far I find it impossible to find where the Rotten Tomato scores are in RottenTomatoes .

I understand trying to get you to read all the other content a available on the website, but if you can’t easily give me the number one thing I want from you, I’m going to delete RottenTomatoes and continue using the website - even on my mobile phone.

Sign In is broken

There is not option to sign in with an account you already have and for some reason is forcing me to make a new account yet it still says “my password doesn’t meet the requirements” even though it does. The 5 star reviews are most likely bots paid for by Rotten Tomatoes to boost engagement on RottenTomatoes and make people want to get it but I’d recommend sticking to the website.

Not great, ironic to rate a rating app

I didn’t like picking a new profile name in RottenTomatoes or changing my login info. I already had that using the browser. Also, I really don’t get why the description by each half star went away. That helped me sanity check my scores & be consistent.

Lots of bugs

Look I have been waiting for a Rotten Tomatoes app for so long and I’m excited to see they finally have one. However I am consistently having issues where I am being kicked out of my login session everytime I go to view my watchlist. It just keeps asking me to sign in over and over everytime I click on my watchlist. Which prevents me from viewing my watchlist without going directly to the website. Once these login issues are fixed I see a lot of potential in RottenTomatoes but until then I’ll be disappointed.

Missing Elements

Your watchlist doesn’t exist in RottenTomatoes , which is frustrating after keep a sizeable watchlist for years. Just put the Watchlist in the “LISTS” section. Yeah? The search tab isn’t responsive, and everyone’s profiles are limited to only 4 or 5 reviews…what’s up with that?

Promising, but needs major debugging

When polished, RottenTomatoes will be very useful. Currently, though, RottenTomatoes has bugs that limit its usability and cause frustration.

For example, you can view the contents of your watchlist on RT’s website (if logged in using your same login and pw that you use with RottenTomatoes ), but RottenTomatoes itself will not show you the contents of your watchlist. It will let you add movies to your watchlist, though.

If you log out of RottenTomatoes , upon logging back in it will ask you some of the same questions it asked when you first set up your account, such as what name would you like to use.

As of now (early July 2025) it’s a very new app. It’ll get better. But for now, it’s buggy.

Meh

I use JustWatch to track what shows are available on my streaming services, which I rotate monthly. I would have liked to see similar functionality built into RottenTomatoes. As far as I can tell, it doesn’t do anything more than the website, and this was certainly an opportunity for Rotten Tomatoes to expand their functionality — an opportunity they missed.

I love RT!!

I love RT!! It’s been my go to review site for years. I visit it almost daily because it has the info I need when I need it and I don’t have to slog through dozens of pop up ads to get it. I’ve been a loyal fan for over 20 years.

Finally a dedicated RT App!

At last an actual RT app that does everything I want it to! I can read the latest news, watch trailers, follow friends and critics, write reviews, even create my own lists! You aren’t ready for my lists, world! Watch out!

A must for movie lovers!!

My go to for reviews. I have discovered so many hidden gems here! The reviews are honest and super helpful. I love seeing both critic and audience opinions all in one place. I use RottenTomatoes every time I’m deciding what to watch.

Finally!!!

Happy one of my favorite websites is finally on a mobile app! Makes looking up all the movie ratings so much easier! 10/10 recommend!!

It’s over for IMDB and Letterboxd’s wig ain’t safe either.

Smooth interface, good content on the homepage, less obtrusive ads, great profile features, and the ability to create lists make this a winner.

Love it

Now please make a tv app! You will corner the market! There is nothing truly that works! There are so many streaming apps out there but nothing to tell us what to watch and make lists of the ones I want to watch from each streamer.

Finally!

Rt app is here and I can’t believe it took them this long??? I can’t wait to finally have it on my phone and not have to break open my computer…

The good Rotten Tomatoes

That was a good to rating with positive, mixed, and negative to both movies and TV shows. And it keeps TV show present day from canceling when the fans want to bring back.

So helpful

My go-to source for checking what to watch. Needs some polish, but absolutely loving the convenience of ratings, reviews and where to stream stuff!

Great new features!!

Love RottenTomatoes!! It’s so easy to find movies & give reviews on them. I definitely come here first to see if a movie is worth watching.

Finally a RT App!

The perfect app for movie lovers, I can’t wait to share it with family and friends.
