Congrats to the developers of Gymaholic!

Congratulations to the Gymaholic app developers for creating this amazing tool to help me with my goals! If you’re considering to download GymaholicWorkoutTracker as a trial, then I highly recommend it! Once you see how well Gymaholic is designed to be used as reference tool, a digital personal trainer and to document your physical progress....then signing up for a subscription is a simple decision. I downloaded 6 other workout apps first and was ready to purchase a year’s worth on another app for twice as much $...and have since deleted on those other apps after I tried Gymaholic. I use my Apple Watch with GymaholicWorkoutTracker and it’s well...really cool. Each night, I create my own customizable workout for the next day and actually look forward to going to the gym to use it! (although there’s plenty of downloadable workouts to choose from as well). The workouts can be created to be used in several locations based on the equipment and it really makes it an enjoyable and useful tool for me. Devenyl Gabor....you guys did a GREAT job on GymaholicWorkoutTracker and it shows how much effort was made to do it right. Congrats!

Worth it?

So I’m am the furthest person from being fit; although I do try to work out and I have downloaded several workout apps. I have downloaded this one in hopes that I would 1) not quit 2) get stronger as well as recovery, and 3) giving me work outs plans as well as feedback on my weight loss. Be warned though, I have only been able to use this once. The work out that I did kept track of all exercises in the gym so I liked that as well is that I didn’t have to carry my phone as it has a Apple Watch link so I just had to put all info in on my watch. Next, I got GymaholicWorkoutTracker to get stronger for sure but also recovery. I was diagnosed with a femoral neck stress fracture and also to do my physical therapy with it too. It’s a plus that I can keep records for the doc on what I’ve done. Last, I like how the pro version offers several work out plans so I never had to guess on what I want to do in the gym. Last, I like with the weight measurements, it gives you a visual of what you look like and see how much you have lost. My recommendation is to get GymaholicWorkoutTracker and if you can afford it, get the pro version.

Absolutely the best gym app out there!

Over the last year, I’ve downloaded practically every major workout app on GymaholicWorkoutTracker Store and put each through at least a weeklong trial run: Strong, Fitbod, SmartGym, Jefit and too many others to remember. All of them had something lacking. And when I wrote their developers, they almost always had some sort of arrogant reply, like they don’t have the time to work on my request (after agreeing it was a great request!), or they just didn’t think making their app more user-friendly was the right way to go. Then, I stumbled upon Gymaholic. And it’s just awesome. They’ve thought of everything. And although, at first, you might think their screens are too busy, try it for a week, and you’ll quickly see how intuitive it really is. I love how it works great on my Watch. I love that you can choose to use or ignore their bells and whistles, I love their animated views so you can capture the best form. Gymaholic has all the best features of all the above mentioned apps, and none of their bad features. Plus, it’s less than the cost of a frap at Starbucks a month. Way to go!!

Subscription App! The Search Begins...

I thought Gymaholic was going to be my final workout tracking app. All I really wanted was the ability to create folders because I create my own workouts and like to keep them in categories. My request was finally heard by Gymaholic but now after already paying $15 (which was already a little steep comparatively speaking), they want me to spend $32 per year just to get folders and a white background! Forget that! And maybe I would like some of the other features in the new premium version, if I do that’s great but if I don’t...I can never downgrade! It’s just not worth the chance, so goodbye Gymaholic and hello HeavySet (I kinda missed you anyway). Don’t be sad Gymaholic I’ll keep you on my phone in hopes that you’ll come up with a better pricing model (Gymaholic 2 for $30 and I own it).

Edit: I have to say thanks to the developer for hearing our concerns and addressing them so quickly! I’m changing my rating to 5 stars for the customer service alone, and I plan upgrading to the premium (just for a year) to show support to the developer. Thanks again!

I rescind my last statement

I'm going to echo some of the previous reviews here. I have been a loyal user since the beginning and I have to credit GymaholicWorkoutTracker with making workouts easy to track and have helped me get into shape. 16% BF to 11% and looking much better than I did before. When the 6.0 version came out I was a little bothered. After having supported the developer with the original app then being asked to pay for a subscription, I felt betrayed. Well, the new version addressed this. I understand money needs to be made as this is a business, but going back and giving the loyal base their premium features is a big move and I appreciate this update. I look forward to further developments and will be proud to support future endeavors by GymaholicWorkoutTracker writer. For those who didn't get on board earlier, I would recommend supporting the developer. If you have an apple watch the ability to track your workout without having your phone in hand is awesome. It takes away the notebook and pencil and helps with linear progression on lifts. SUPPORT THIS DEVELOPER!!

Best Workout App by a Million!!

App not only what I wanted, but it exceeded my expectations by a Million...
I never buy Apps, let alone review them - Bit I had to make an exception this time because I was blown away after trying other Apps and then using this one.
After downloading the Free Version, and using it on my first session - well I could not wait till later, so I bought the full-version right their and then ($5.99). Best money spent... and I absolutely Love It! So much I had to write a review, because even though I never write reviews, I'm one of those who always uses and guide myself with reviews. This is my way to pay back to those who write their honest reviews and that have helped me in the past! So here is my review for this Awesome App! Not only do I recommend it, but I will say that if you are looking for a Workout App., well you will 'Not' find a better one out there. My Opinion, and I'm sticking with it! LOL - So I would rate GymaholicWorkoutTracker a Million if I could, but since I can't, then I'll rate it a Million anyway! LOL :0)

Worth it with a subscription

I switched from another big Apple Watch fitness player on GymaholicWorkoutTracker Store after my annual subscription ended for that one. I did the 7 day trial for Gymaholic, and I immediately loved their watch interface. I can actually change the weight, # of reps, # of sets easily on the watch.
I’ve also had no issues syncing between the watch and the phone at the end of my workout. My last app would sometimes sync and sometimes wouldn’t sync until my next workout. I enjoy how Gymaholic does post workout analysis and gives a rough rating on your muscles’ status. So far it’s pretty accurate. Usually the first day it says I’m back to 100% on a muscle like my quads then it’s just so happens to be leg day.
Overall, GymaholicWorkoutTracker is a much higher quality app then most I have tried. The graphics aren’t phenomenal, but sometimes you have to sacrifice the ascetic for the processing throughput especially on an Apple Watch with a little processor.

Awesome app would recommend

I really enjoy GymaholicWorkoutTracker, as of right now it’s the only app I use for my work outs. For the people out there that do a lot of app hunting GymaholicWorkoutTracker here is definitely one to test out. For myself I needed something that would track my progress and this one does just that. From weighing in to how much you have lifted over the week or month GymaholicWorkoutTracker tracks it. The work outs that are on GymaholicWorkoutTracker are easy to understand with the help from A-R that GymaholicWorkoutTracker uses.

However there is always room to improve. For myself I would love to see more add ones. Maybe getting with trainers would help built the database up. Right now I’m using Jeff Cavaliere’s Athlean X 1 program and I am having to add work outs to GymaholicWorkoutTracker . Which takes away from GymaholicWorkoutTracker because I’m having to add so many workouts that are not on GymaholicWorkoutTracker .

Other then that I have really enjoyed using GymaholicWorkoutTracker for the last yr or so.

Best weightlifting app. Aggressive paywall

I just got back in the gym after several months off. Found Gymaholic last time I joined as a recent Apple Watch user. Works great and is definitely the best weightlifting app I’ve found especially when considering activity tracking with the Apple Watch.
Previously I found the free version worked for me. As a very casual weightlifting person with a training plan in place. I was able to make my custom workouts without the diagrams and 3D models that premium provided. I was also able to make basic interface adjustments (how the Apple Watch areas interacted with your workout etc) and was happy. Now you can’t even see the title of your workout you made, it blocks everything out and just lets you know you can pay. That’s fine and all but I don’t need to pay to have a model of a workout I’m familiar with.
Will likely end up paying or jumping ship to a lower cost option. No this isn’t crazy expensive but half the cost of Netflix monthly to have the titles of the workout I created seems steep.

Love this app

I originally bought this back in October 2020 as a way to prove to my Doctor that I am using the gym. Now 6 months later I’ve really learned to appreciate GymaholicWorkoutTracker and all it has to offer. I love the history and personal records. The price is very acceptable at a few bucks a month for Premium.
One thing I’d like to see is the ability to add other exercises based off one that’s already in here. For example I like the ez bar skull crusher exercise for triceps. Another variation is with dumbbells. It would be nice to have that as a choice rather than typing a “Dumbell” note with the exercise. Maybe you choose and exercise then choose what type of equipment your using. Tricep extensions is a great example. You can do those with kettlebells, cable, dumbbells, bands etc. Instead of scrolling looking for the name, maybe just choose the exercise then the equipment.

Used to use Jefit

I've used the Jefit app for years but switched to Gymaholic after getting my Apple Watch. I love how easy it is to use on the go and I can leave my phone in my gym bag which I could do with Jefit, the Apple Watch support was terrible. I just wish there was a little more instructions on how to use the Watch app effectively as there is a small learning curve. Definitely glad I started using it and don't see myself switching anytime soon. I would like to see a little more diversity of preset workouts and there seems to be just a few what I deem to think as normal workouts not listed but with the custom workout option that takes care of that, just no animation. I bought the pro version and the exercise pack. But for an app that I can spend less than $10 on and I can use on the regular with no bugs and make my workout more efficient, it's well worth it.

Great to use from rehab to workout!

Starting using after rehab for an injury to my total knee replacement - they had to redo my total knee replacement - and I needed more strength training to get knee/leg in better condition even after 3 months of rehab. Doctor told me to join a gym get a gym app and to get started. GymaholicWorkoutTracker has been great to create my own workouts with an emphasis in knee, upper leg and lower leg exercises! I would not have known which exercises to do but here I can look up by muscle group and then choose the exercises to add to my gym routine. I can make different exercise routines focusing on the same muscle groups using different exercises so I do not get bored doing the same thing each time I am at the gym. Love the feature where I can actually see the exercise demonstrated - what a great tool! Love that I can send to watch! Less to carry around at the gym! Thanks!

Like/love the app (not for free)

PSA: GymaholicWorkoutTracker is not worth it unless you also buy a membership! I like GymaholicWorkoutTracker itself, as it does everything I need from heart rate monitoring to just a simple list of exercises. A few things I don’t enjoy include not being able to go back a set, especially if you accidentally skip one (pretty easy to do). I also don’t like that if you tap during a rest, the rest doesn’t go away so you can start your set, it skips the rest and the next set! Sometimes I’m ready to lift before my rest is over, and since it tracks activity and time throughout your workout, this problem prevents you from getting accurate measurements. FEATURES I LOVED: I love the list view of the workouts allowing you to view what’s next, what you’ve done and if anything needs to be completed. They provide a timer for resting, giving you a reminder when it’s time to get back to it. I also really like that you can edit sets and add exercises mid workout through your watch.

Almost perfect!

I love GymaholicWorkoutTracker! I wish there were more exercises (especially some of basic but good bodyweight exercises like burpees, speed skaters, bodyweight crossovers, side leg drops, inverted barbell row, star plank, pike push up) but overall this is a great app that hasn't crashed or quit on me like others have. I love that I can store my custom guided workouts on my Apple Watch and don't have to rely on or lug my phone around, a feature most apps I tried before finding this one don't offer. The customizability is fantastic which makes your workout more personal and therefore better.

My biggest request is to be able to add and use gif’s when creating new exercises so that they can be used during a 3D workout just like when the green character is animated demonstrating the exercises. I’d also like to be able to switch from being a Pro user to a Premium user so I can take advantage of Family Sharing and enable my wife to use GymaholicWorkoutTracker.

GymaholicWorkoutTracker is money well spent and will only get better as the developer adds more exercises which I’m sure he will because this guy actually listens to his customers/reviewers.

One thing I’d note is that you may need to search a bit to find your exercises because everyone uses slightly different names for some exercises so GymaholicWorkoutTracker probably has what you want but it might be under another name. This isn’t a complaint, just a common sense FYI to any users out there.

The #1 App in my Phone

I’ve been following Gymaholic for years for the motivational quotes, and when I saw that they had an app, I thought I’d check it out. I never thought it would change my mentality toward lifting... Gymaholic helps both the newcomer nervous about lifting and the veteran who’s tired of stale routines. With features like timed rests, alerts of when to restart your workout, 360 degree simulated exercises and descriptions so you can quickly check your form, dozens of pre-programmed routines that are customizable, and a simple to use recording method for your routine and measurements, it takes the hassle of planning your daily routine off your shoulders. I judge people now who still use the paper and pencil method! I’ve recommended it to pretty much everyone I know who has even the slightest interest in weightlifting and exercise.

The Perfect Workout app for the Apple Watch

I've been using GymaholicWorkoutTracker now for six months and it is my most used app ever. This tracks all my varied daily workout perfectly without much time or distraction. The ability to create customized exercises and workouts was just what I needed. I really like how you can also do timed workout as well instead of sets and reps. Easy interface to use on the Apple Watch, with the ability to skip or return to exercises or end the workout early. Syncs fine with the Apple Health app to track in your daily exercises, which then syncs back into the Lose It food tracking app. A perfect trifecta. I tested it out for four weeks and then paid the developer team for the Pro Gold Version because it's that valuable to me and my success in the gym. Highly recommend GymaholicWorkoutTracker.

LOOOOOVE this app and company!

Amazing customer service! Wrote an email unsure if I was going to get a response about my workouts not syncing and turns out it was due to me restarting my Apple Watch. Whoops! None the less the friendly staff responded very quickly!

As far as results I lost 20lbs with the help of GymaholicWorkoutTracker ! I have been a user for about two years. Occasional on and off months but I have built up muscle mass and can clearly see the definition.

I love that they have a figure that shows you exactly what you’re suppose to do. It also counts down rest times which is so CONVENIENT. It’d be nice if the figure moved on the Apple Watch but i haven’t figured out how to do so if it’s possible. Otherwise I bring my
Phone along to follow along with the character and my watch to count down the rest times and set count. When I feel confident with what I’m doing I’ll just put my phone away.

It also allows for music to play in background some fitness apps do not so a HUGE plus.

This was my way to get out of my comfort zone and try new work outs.

Lost 20lbs with GymaholicWorkoutTracker as a tool. For About 3.99$ a month TOTALLY worth it. I followed the intermediate week workout for my progress!

Good luck and grind hard! (:

Best gym partner!

I use GymaholicWorkoutTracker each time I go to the gym. It’s a little annoying you need the premium version to access all the exercises, but it’s a one-time purchase and it’s worth it in my opinion. I like that GymaholicWorkoutTracker offers you pre-determined workouts if you’re new to lifting. If you’re a novice or veteran in the gym, you can edit these set workouts or create your own completely. For me, remembering weight from the prior week and rest time were an issue during sessions. GymaholicWorkoutTracker helps me manage both. Being able to set the rest time is key because it keeps you focused in between sets. Additionally, GymaholicWorkoutTracker provides short vids of how certain exercises should be done if you’re trying new things and shows you which muscle groups are being affected. I deleted all my other “fitness” apps after purchasing the premium version of GymaholicWorkoutTracker.

Collegiate and Semi-Pro Goalkeeper

I have played soccer at many levels. Getting in the gym and becoming stronger has been crucial to my success on the field. As an aspiring professional player i have to stay completely fit and motivated at all times. GymaholicWorkoutTracker is intuitive, fun, and keeps lifting interesting. I have bought a few pre-made workouts which are fantastic. My favorite being the 4 day program. However, if you’re looking for a fresh set of exercises, new ways of hitting a group of muscles, or even a way to fit your workout to a specific period of time, Gymaholic will do that for you. I have used GymaholicWorkoutTracker for over a year now and have had the Pro version for at least 6 months. I can easily say it was a worthwhile investment into a well made and useful application.

Great Strength-Training App, But New Premium Model Diminishes Value Proposition for New Users

Gymaholic is still the best-designed strength-training app for the Apple Watch. I love using the Watch app for workouts with my iPhone back in my locker. It is exactly what I wanted for the gym when I got my first Apple Watch.

But I am a grand-fathered Pro User. I paid a more-than-reasonable $5 for full functionality (but not the $15 that also included the full library of workout programs), and I often recommended Gymaholic to new users. But under the new subscription model, new users are asked to pay a $4 monthly or $32 annual fee.

I support developers, and I understand the need for subscriptions to support ongoing app development. But developers need to be realistic about the pricing of their subscriptions.
