UNIT 1 Reviews

Alas, I was disappointed! Unfortunately, UNIT1 doesn’t work for much. I was able to see my helmet, the light, and the turnsignal remote. But, aside from that, I really cannot do anything else. It flat out doesn’t even work on my iPhone 15, I have to use my iPad, which isn’t very convenient.

Feel like quite a bit of features were not integrated into the new app. Like customization of the turn signals. I have to spend 5 minutes getting everything powered on, connected, and functioning properly. I am not confident my turn signals are working once I begin my ride.

Just got my Aura helmet and i have had to do a factory reset on my helmet and delete UNIT1 (3) times already.. I’ve ordered the remote but i have no trust in the firmware and update… Unit 1 needs to spend more money on developing the helmet and making sure that it works properly before using all of its money on marketing…… PLEASE FIX THE Parring OF THE HELMET FROM DISCONNECTING AND MAKE IT STABLE !!!!

Some functions (like customization) don’t seem to work yet even from the tutorial. Hopefully will be improved soon.

UNIT1 seems pretty good although I continually get disconnect/connected alerts while I’m riding when everything is on. Also, the fact there isn’t a way to force the lights to know which spot they’re going to (front vs rear) is annoying as at times I have to turn on and off the lights until they are separate lights as the flipping to change placement works ~10% of the time. Love the products though, and when UNIT1 is more polished I feel like it’ll be amazing.

UNIT1 continues to be updated and is now on par with the old, deprecated Unit 1 Faro app that was developed for the original Faro helmet. The dev team and support are really responsive, so if you have an issue, be sure to contact them. It took me a while to figure out the the turn signal settings on the new app are with the remote's settings, not the helmet's [as with the old app]. There are some new feature (all devices on/off using the remote) that are nice addtions.

I purchased 2 smart lights and a Unit 1 turn signal controller for my ebike. In the beginning I was hesitant about UNIT1 due to the reviews. But it appears a lot of the negative reviews may be lack of knowledge on UNIT1 . I talked to Manuel with the Unit 1 team and had him walk me through the customization of UNIT1 . How to customize each light and preset. Once you understand how to control UNIT1 you really do unlock the full potential of these awesome lights. My advice is to create your own preset for the headlight and taillight so that each time you turn them on, they’re already on your custom mode and ready to go. No complaints here. Shout out to Manuel from the Unit 1 team, it is clear they are passionate about the product and their customers.

I had issues with my light bar and that’s OK because I understand how software and hardware works. However, I can only do so much to troubleshoot it. It requires a lot of patience with technology.

So what’s next?

Well first off, I do encourage all of you to reach out to tech support just in case anything doesn’t work correctly. Technology is never perfect and remember, that’s OK.

Now all of my products work fine and they are excellent!

A great app to compliment a really well designed product. Even my non-techie partner was impressed. A few quirks, but the team is actively adding features and taking care of bugs.
