Best app I’ve used

SuperBetter if you actively use it, will be a life saver. I’ve been using it for years off and on. It helps put you in the right frame of mind to take on anything. Chronic Pain, family issues. It I went from a bedridden disfunctional disabled person with a pure negative attitude and absolute hopelessness to someone who was more positive, could deal with my pain and responsibilities and even started helping my own families issues as a true mother and wife. My relationships improved, the pain levels were more manageable and slightly less frequent. Nothing externally changed. My perspective changed and things slowly got better. I wouldn’t say I’m a this app person but definitely a better more functional one. The other thing I liked about it. Is that it’s customizable. You can created your own aspects of “the game”. Also, treating it like a game made it fun. Say you are an alcohol and want to put the 12 step program element in your challenges, if they don’t already have a pack for it. You can make one specific for you. Also, being a person with chronic migraines I was able to put in my triggers and plan how do deal with. I would recommend this application for anyone. Even just if you want a this app life than you already have.

Great App for Depression

I’ve barely used SuperBetter - in fact I just downloaded it today. But I can already tell that it will help me with my depression. I have fairly severe depression, so everything is a battle; therefore, doing these little challenges, like drinking a glass of water, not pinching your fat, hugging yourself, etc. make it feel like I’ve accomplished something, anything. SuperBetter makes necessary and helpful tasks into power-ups to be earned, and “bad guys” to be defeated. And when you have absolutely no motivation for anything, the idea of beating a challenge, getting points, and leveling up at least makes it easier to walk my dog, or get off the chair when I can’t seem to move. This may not help everyone, but I think it will certainly help me.

Great tool to aid in your recovery

I’d recommend SuperBetter for anybody battling depression.
Its task list-based design helps me keep up with wellness routines without getting overwhelmed and shutting down, and it keeps me from feeling stuck in my recovery process.
Not only is it an effective tool to facilitate and aid in my recovery, it’s also great with maintaining mental wellness.

With the next update, I’d want to see these features:

• More interactivity with your allies
- I want to share my custom power ups and bad guys with my allies.
Right now there’s nothing you can really do with them

• Easier customization in creating your own power ups
- Easier bold option.
Right now, if you want to use boldface, you have to use their coding when writing descriptions. A big hassle.
- Easier link inclusion.
Same deal here, must use coding
- Easier paragraph formatting.
Same with above, must use coding with each line you want to create, which is a giant pain.
- No max word count with descriptions in custom power ups.
Writing your description then going back and forth with the error window is a pain.

Super Better for Soldiers

I have been using Super Better after watching the Ted Talk from years ago. This was right after being diagnosed with PTSD and a head injury from an Army deployment. My therapist told me, among many things, I needed to learn how to love myself again. Sounds crazy but Super Better walked me through the process in a winning way! It helps change habits, perspectives and attitudes and develop new and better ones. Rather than just following a list, SuperBetter actually helps you achieve more for yourself and others ( attitude, motivation, goals, perspective on daily life and positive steps to take everyday etc.) than any app I have used.

Seems good, but looks ugly

Nitpicking, but certainly for an app developed for the imaginative, creative type (that are more likely to be designers), the UI can use a better look? My eyes honestly hurt from staring at all those colors. (Color harmony is a thing! You don’t have to use the entire spectrum just because you CAN!)

That aside, pretty recommended. But again could you please consider updating your graphics to a more...modern...look, dear devs? That would be truly appreciated (as currently every time I open SuperBetter I let out a big sigh, as if opening a boring booklet about how to wash your hands properly.)

It’s not a game if it looks like homework!

BEST APP EVER FOR POSITIVE CHANGE

I just happened to stumble on SuperBetter. I have become obsessed with finding the perfect app for changing bad habits and goal setting. I have tried practically all of them and have paid for the more popular ones and use them now. SuperBetter is mind blowing. It appears to be free (what?!) and even if it’s not I will 100% keep it. It’s just what I have been looking for: an app that motivates me to rid myself of bad habits and create new positive ones. It’s not confusing yet it has great content. It has great information about why you do things (or avoid) it has it all and I’m in love!

I see where this is trying to go I just don’t know if it gets there

This game doesn’t look or feel like a game. There’s no game-like graphics no game story either. It seems like there saying “ hey let’s use game terms to describe your chore list and just doing that will make it more fun”
Also, the article on quests says I have to want to do the stuff on the list. Great, so where does the homework I need to do but don’t want to do fit in?

The pre-set power ups and bad guys aren’t really useful for someone in a wheelchair that I’ve seen. It would be nice to be able to specify some groups that you identify with and have some suggestions come up based on those like mine might be “Christian” and “ differently-abled”

Love it, just feels a bit old

5 stars because I support the concept so much; it’s very effective. However, if I had one complaint, it’s that it feels very old. The interface is a bit clunky, and I feel like there’s a lot of untapped potential. Superhero avatars? Little animations when you complete something? Check in notifications with reminders to complete a power up if our power is low? I still love and would recommend SuperBetter , but there’s a lot more that could be done here!

Modernize It!!

SuperBetter is amazing and perfect for anyone with mental struggles. After only using it for 2 days now, I’ve noticed a difference. DEFINITELY WORTH IT. The only complaint I have is I wish it was like other apps. The overall app just seems dated. I wish there was a way to connect to other people and show them your triumphs and hardships. Whether it’s making the activity tab tab easier to read and post experiences on or even making them public, it would make it better. I say this because I want to be able to connect with my counselor so she can keep up with my progress.

Day 1: I REALLY need this game!

I am just starting (Like 10 minutes ago), but I have an intuitive sense that this is going to help me on my journey. I’m really stuck when it comes to taking care of myself, and I think that playing this “game” is going to help me get unstuck by lightening up and not taking myself so seriously I hope to be able to make good progress in overcoming the challenges that I face living with chronic health issues.
I heard about this game on a Ted talk, and I am very curious so far it is exactly what I am expecting to help me, thank you!!

It actually works

I downloaded this because we talked about it in one of my classes, and I didn’t really take it seriously. I decided, after almost a month of staring at it on my phone, to give it a shot. SuperBetter has helped me find my academic drive again, it’s incredible. It’s helping me with depression, anxiety, social confidence-all of it. It’s not “curing” me of all of these things, but it’s definitely helping me find ways around them and be comfortable in my own skin again

Good app for adults or teens

Enjoying it so far. Great little ideas to keep yourself moving and thinking new ways! Heard about it on NPR.
Some parts seem to go nowhere when I click (forums, maybe allies, etc). And there's quests sometimes that say to put on your Activity Wall. I imagine that's just the generic Facebook-like posting. But I wish that were a little more clear. And SuperBetter mentions Secret Lab notes, but again it's unclear where those reside. Is it just my own personal notepad at home? Or somewhere in the website I can't find? Regardless, I really enjoying using SuperBetter so far!

Love this app!!

I rarely review apps but this one is fantastic 𝗗𝗿. 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗴𝘂𝘀 it is easy to use and I’m pours all the things we should all be doing daily just to be happy human but however we can all let slide all the time with our busy lives.

I find if I just stop and have a little self-care moment I’m a better person and my child to be self and everyone around me and this is a simple way to get that done because I can easily forget.

Recommended to Me, Recommended to You!

I have a professor who recommended SuperBetter to me! I absolutely love it! It's simple design is stunning in it's own way. SuperBetter offers different ways to enhance your life in simple ways. Chug a cup of water, engage in positive, social contact, and more. I definitely recommend this to other people who also struggle with mental illness, or who wish to just become this app!

Thorough, customizable, incredible!

SuperBetter is incredible. Sure, using a bunch of powerpacks (sets of quests/goals) can be overwhelming, but SuperBetter is wonderful for self-regulation in many areas. Whether it’s physical, mental, emotional or social, SuperBetter is customizable, thorough, has tons of potential focus areas and can even be used with friends. I’ve already recommended it to friends!

Great app!!

I’m a therapist and struggle with getting clients to do small things to build momentum to achieve their goals. SuperBetter accomplishes this in a very simple and fun way and encourages participants to take a step further and further. Each step you take, you are praised and this will build self confidence and self care skills. Loved her Tedtalk. I look forward to sharing this with my clients.

Grateful this is available!

this app has helped me so much. Sure, SuperBetter is a little clunky compared to the website and the articles are from 2011 when SuperBetter was made, but this helps me so much on a daily basis. I check to make sure I’ve ‘done my dailies’ and it helps me more than I can share. I’m grateful this is free, and I hope it can help you too!

Improvement in easy steps

I love how short the exercises are and how easy it is to sneak them in throughout the day. They are truly bite-size little things that can be done on the fly, but make a big difference. I also love that I can customize it to my particular goals and I can make it as social or private as I want. This is a great app.

great for depression

i have been struggling with depression and self- hate and this app is great for learning to love yourself and it’s an amazing app i really recommend it. even for parents it’s good because when you care so much about your family you never really have the time to care for yourself and this app helps a lot with self care. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fosters Healing

Helps nourish healing focus. Even on the worst of days, many of us can at least credit ourselves for drinking a glass of water and it counts in both the game and our body. Everyone can benefit from this game because we each has something that can benefit from commitment and attention. Thanks Jane and co-creators and the community that keeps it alive. Namaste🍥
