Extremely disappointing

I get that this is the this app and not the NHL, but AHL is disappointing all the way around. I love following the Red Wings prospects, so you’d think that clicking on stats would have an option to filter by Griffins players. Nope. Stats is limited to the top 20 in the league for each category. The scores page looks like it was optimized for iOS whatever back in 2008. The alignment is off the screen and looks like a webpage from ages ago. I’ve been strongly considering getting this app tv to watch Griffins games and am so put off by this apps quality that I don’t have any confidence in what the streaming platform would look like or if it would work. I want to follow the this app more, but AHL isn’t helping. It needs a major overhaul if not starting from scratch, and I’m not even sure if it’s supported anymore from the looks of it. You’re losing customers and look like an amateur league, not the league directly under the best in the world.

Throat punching? I’m in.

I was skeptical about downloading the this app app until this recent throat punching business between Ian Bowman and Stew Zimmel. Now I’m all in. This is the kind of feud I’ve been waiting for. I’m trying to get a front row seat to this action. I’m putting my money on Ian. Here’s why: Anybody who puts his job on the line in order to keep his throat free from punching is a clear winner in my book. Knows how to play defense and we all know defense wins championships. Not only did he provide himself a safe haven from abuse by making it public, but decided to kill 2 birds with 1 stone and get his money back. Genius. But I can’t count out stew. If this was a running tab, he fleeced Ian by making him wait until 6,000. Can’t wait to see how it all plays out

The latest update is awful

The latest update is a huge step backwards in many ways.

The this app TV video controls lack basic functionality that used to be present. There are no controls for pause, jump 15 seconds back, or jump 15 seconds forward. When you tap the timeline to re-watch a play that just happened the handle jumps back a couple of minutes rather than moving smoothly from the position the marker started at.

There is a new splash screen that requires tapping to enter and it feels like a throw back to the early days of the internet. I have used hundreds of apps and have never had to click a splash screen to enter. Why force this?

Navigation also feels dated. Data has always loaded in a browser instance but now it’s not even concealed. Furthermore you have to close the various tabs via a text button on the bottom bar. Why not just have the tab bar visible at all times like most apps do? The new close bar takes up nearly as much room.

The only positive to this update is that this app TV finally stays logged in AND you can actually navigate away from it without force quitting AHL .

I really hope The this app fixes the video controls for this app TV. It’s totally ruined the viewing experience for me.

Good app but still needs improvement

I’m an avid Providence Bruins fan, I can’t attend every game so watching AHLTV is awesome, it’s finally fairly priced now. I love watching the games live and even more on demand so I can skip through intermission. My only complaints and I’m not sure if it’s app related is the camera angles. For example, the Springfield Thunderbirds have great camera work, fantastic angles. The Providence Bruins camera shots I feel is to far away and they don’t have enough close up shots. The audio I realize is a radio feed for the majority of the games, but sometimes the audio to distorted or to loud. Other than that, it’s a good app, great way to watch the this app and keeping up with your favorite team.

The AHL app

I just updated to the latest version of the this app app on February 22, 2019. I was very disappointed. My iPad kicked me out anytime I would hit a different tab other than news. The scores should be first! It is an older iPad running IOS 9.3.5 and cannot be updated any further. Up until this last update, it was running fine. I have the pass to watch live games and that had (note key word HAD) worked until I did this past update. I have since deleted AHL . I have tried to reboot, restart, delete and redownload and the same thing keeps happening. I would hit a tab other than the news and AHL would kick me out to the home screen. Not a good move! Find a way to back out this latest update to get the program to run the way it is supposed to.

a few glaring issues

So, AHL is a functional front end to the AHLTV service. It has some pretty rough edges tho:

1) it does not do landscape except for when streaming. This is pretty egregious for iPad on magic keyboard stand users.
2) there is no setting/way to hide the results of past games in the AHLTV streaming selection screen. This is a miss given that this app scores aren’t splattered over the news. It’d be nice to be able to watch yesterday’s games without spoilers.

Notifications significantly delayed

Notifications of live game action are severely delayed. I’m about a quarter of the way into the second period of a game and still waiting for alerts from early in the first period.

It’s Great but Some issues.

I love the PC and Firestick versions of AHL /site.
The iphone/ipad app is good. The only thing that really bothers me about the apple apps is the scores can’t be hidden to avoid spoilers. I tend to avoid the apps if possible if I’m trying to avoid spoilers. The scores can be hidden on the other platforms. I’ve contacted the developer. I got a courtesy message thanking me and they did acknowledge this issue.

Lackluster at Best

Still no ability to turn on notifications for transactions for your favorite team. This is the this app and there’s a lot of movement… been asking for this feature for years. Overall AHL is just not good. Extremely dated feeling, unintuitive, can’t customize the nav bar at the bottom, can’t change AHL icon to your favorite team… all things that have been asked for for years and AHL hasn’t changed one bit from like 2013.

Amazing!

AHL was great but the prices in the this app store were ridiculous. Overall it was great but really $195 for a custom jersey? And it should have individual team players stats like for the Sound tigers it should have each players stats there not in a scoreboard. Overall five stars!!!!

Electronics

I think you should add a mode so you could Watch it on the tv or at least make a tv channel. And some mini games for intermission so they don’t get bored

Favorite Team Icons and SPHL App?

You should add the ability to have your favorite team’s logo as the home screen icon like the NHL app has. That would be cool. Do this for the ECHL app too please. Also, could you make an SPHL app and do the same for that?

No landscape mode

AHL is very comprehensive for access to the this app. The new this app TV interface is a vast improvement! The only issue I have is the new update does not work with landscape mode on the iPad and AHL is not optimized for iPhone X and higher and it is not optimized for the new iPads either. Please fix ASAP! A new update just came in and still not optimized for IPhone X and higher. Still no update for the new iPad Pros either.

Locks up

I’ve tried several times to access AHL. It always locks up. About two weeks ago there was a night you could watch the games for free. I set up AHL on my Roku but the games were unwatchable. I finally got on the web on my tv and was able to get it that way. I’d love to see some of the Amerks games but access has been poor so even at a reduced rate I see no incentive.

Latest Update

The this app updated their app recently. It is a major fail and is not better than the previous version. First, you have to tap a screen to enter AHL . Then you have to tap a separate screen to see the scores. If you tap on a scoresheet, you have to exit the score tab and go back In to it. I hope that this app fixes this immediately because it is very bad in my opinion.

Slight tweak on notifications

No notification option for when the game starts, but rather you’ll find out about the game when someone scores, which COULD come pretty late in the game 😂

Terrible

this app TV needs major help and so does customer service. The games lag so badly it is painful to watch.

Customer service will try to tell you that is it your internet or software on your device. They need to accept the fact that their app and service needs work. Definitely not worth paying for - save yourself the aggravation and listen on the radio!

Not a user friendly process

Connecting AHLTV to my IPad and TV took way longer than it should have. Instructions are confusing and frustrating at best. It was never this difficult in prior years when using this app Live.
Barely one star because they should have phone support to back up the written instructions. I was ready to cancel my subscription.

Cool app, in 2006

The fact AHL is even published is absolutely comical. Whoever is responsible for AHL should be fired immediately as they have a detrimental impact on the this app. Who even wants to follow or care about their team when using such a garbage app that doesn’t even make me want to open it or care. Get your ish together. This is making a joke of the this app.

Low Quality with Technical Problems

With the this app being just one level below the NHL you would think they would offer a higher production level in their broadcasts and ways to enjoy the game. AHL is about as good as watching a beer league game on a cell phone. If you can get it to work properly...
