BOA/ MERRYL LYNCH

This combination of financial services is unbeatable. I can instantaneously transfer funds from my BOA checking account directly into my investment accounts and vise versa. Investing in Merryl Lynch using MyMerrill as is easy as it can get. I can do my homework on 99% of the traded equities right from MyMerrill with Stock Stories. MyMerrill has saved me money when buying and has created wealth for me when the stock price is met. I cannot imaging a better checking and trading combination available anywhere. BOA stock should be bouncing higher when more and more people are turned into this wonderful duo of financial services. Thank you BOA/ Merryl Lynch for creating this unbeatable combination.

Lying!

I have been ML customer for over ten years and have been really quite, meaning barely requesting any service in the past years. In the past two months, I asked for three services and was completely shocked by BofA, including ML! The integrity and professionals are NOTHING to all of them! 1) lying to me about their service. Told me the file was already overnighted but I never received! Two weeks later I called them and they finally overnighted. 2) hidden fees! Be cautious!!! 3) misconduct! They deposited my $100k cashier check to my other account instead of the account I instructed them to, because they felt that was the account it should go to. So if the bank feels my $100k should go to my neighbor’s account, BofA is entitled to deposit my hard earning money to someone else’s account??? Wow! Can never trust this bank anymore! Because I don’t feel safe about my money being handled by them.

Fails to launch

It seems like, about monthly, MyMerrill fails to login with my touch ID, with a spinning logo that never stops. It would be nice if, after 20 seconds of this, it would give me an indication of what to change in my environment, or tell me something (ANYTHING!) that would help me track this down. Very frustrating, especially since MyMerrill on my husbands phone never fails like this.

(*) I usually end up uninstalling MyMerrill and reinstalling it, and that gives me another month of failure-free logins. Curiously, this seems to be about the same frequency as the updates; are updates to the server breaking existing apps deploys? If so, it would be nice to have a message that an update is available.

You’re better off using the desktop website, even on mobile

The mobile app is lacking the following, which the website offers:
- BofA/ML research reports
- Can’t view Morningstar/CFRA reports
- Can’t see tax lot info for your holdings
- Securities transers between accounts
- Dividend re-investment enrollment
- No access to technical analysis
- Stock/Options/ETF screeners
- Options strategy builder

My biggest complaints about ML overall is applicable to both MyMerrill and website:
- Can’t seem to change chart default (i.e., candlesticks instead of mountain, and default indicators/overlays)
- No options strategy builder on iOS app. For this reason, I still have all my YOLO money in Robinhood.

Overall MyMerrill takes patience to use, but it’s decent for value investing. You will need another solution for technical analysis. I recommend a different brokerage for active trading. Robinhood is a lot more agile for trading than ML, and it’s sufficient if you use a different solution for technical analysis.

ML as a brokerage excels in their research offering. I encourage users to open up a laptop/desktop computer or iPad and click around the website interface. It would be nice if they offered a ‘dumbed down’ margin account where margin may only be used for options spreads, where cash is required as collateral to cover the max loss (like Robinhood).

Slow Response

I have both Merrill and Schwab accounts. I have had to delete my Merrill app and download it again to get it to respond several times recently because it will not respond. It isn’t my system or WiFi because I am able to access my Schwab acct. each time. In some cases I can go to my phone and MyMerrill works but not on my IPad. I like many of the Merrill features and integration with other Bank of America accounts but I am disappointed with response of system. The Schwab acct system’s access is better. I called customer service several days ago but the wait was over 30 minutes so I canceled the call and traded in my Schwab acct. I hope the system improves so I don’t have too move my Merrill acct to Schwab.

Why make things so difficult.

In previous versions of MLOL it was easy to group accounts into categories for viewing. I have not been able to do this in either version of MLOL that are currently available. I have two new accounts that I would like to add and have not been able to find a way to accomplish that.

If if can be done, please have someone contact me to complete this simple request. If it cannot be done, why not?

Bill pay issue

You still get one star until you can fix the “Deliver By “ issue. When I enter a bill to be paid and try to use the pre-filled “deliver by” date, I get a message that I have to correct something. That “something” is always the deliver by date and I am forced to manually edit to an alternate date, usually the next business day following the prefilled date.
Why can you not simply prefill a date that actually will work for a specific vendor? For example, paying a B of A credit card could be as simple as same business day or next business day. Another national payee could be next or 2 business days out. My local water company that you May have to actually send a paper check might be a week or so out.
This may seem like a minor issue to you, but it is very distracting and annoying to have to continually make these changes.

Inefficient/awkward workflows, unreliable

I really hope MyMerrill gets improved to be at least on par with their competitors in terms of the reliability, the UI workflow and the response time.

- When I tap on a symbol on the holdings screen for a specific account then the trade button on a symbol inflation screen, I have to select the account and the symbol again. Sometimes I forget to change the trading account from the default one and have to cancel and reenter the order. This is not only a waste of time but can lead to missed sell/buy opportunities.
- Some symbols, such as BRKB cannot be traded with MyMerrill because it keeps throwing the invalid symbol error even though I selected the symbol from the suggested list in my holdings.
- After placing an order, I have to tap on the left arrow icon several times to go back to the same holdings screen, and even a lit more to backtrack all of them if I choose to see the order status and modify some existing orders.
- It sometimes get stuck at the bull logo screen at launching, and once it happens, it keeps happening until I delete and reinstall MyMerrill .
- Overall MyMerrill responds much slower than some others I have used, e.g.: Fidelity, E*Trade.

Good but slow

MyMerrill is good overall. I love the info it gives me about my portfolio and seems to have a lot of functionality that I haven’t had a chance to use, yet.
The gripes I have is that this is THE slowest app of all the apps I use from logging in to editing my profile, to almost everything I do in MyMerrill . It also doesn’t integrate well with using sms as my 2 factor authentication method. Every time I want to use MyMerrill , I hesitate because it takes sooo long to load - and end up using it maybe 20% of the time I would normally (if it were as fast as other Fin apps on my phone).

Poor design and slow

MyMerrill is a little buggy and not very user friendly. For one, there is no home button to go back to main menu. For example, after you go to finish placing trades, you don’t have a quick way to go back to main menu to check on your portfolio. You will have to press back button multiple times to back to where you start. This could take quite long depending on what you have done. This is simply dumb and very amateur design. The other bug is that when you decide to trade option from your portfolio, MyMerrill fails to load your option data correctly for you to trade. You will have to enter everything from scratch.

Bad App

The Merrill Lynch App you replace with this one, I could use. It was limited and could use fixing. But this replacement app is worse and so bad I’ve quite using it. I’ve gone back to hauling my lap top with me on over night trips. All of my problems with MyMerrill are with the Pay Bills. Please fix it. I would not of been on MyMerrill to give this review had there not been 2 notifications I was trying to clear out of my screen. ( And they were faults notifications)

Research in the app is a joke. Just take it out

Research, not searchable, cannot subscribe to favorite reports,display of actual reports is so small that it is unreadable. Amazing to have the best research platform in the business, to market it as a distinct advantage (because it is) over the competitors, and then not functionally provide it where most people read research, on their tablet. All these functions are available on the desktop site; download, print, open in pdf reader, so why aren’t these functions provided in MyMerrill ?

Other functions are fine but in line with the competition, so ML if you want to be the big dog, get ahead of the pack!

I Like The Old Version Better

This version appears to do the same things as the old one but there is no quick link to get to the Bill Pay section. I don’t know why things must be moved around when newer apps come out. Customers get used to where everything is and it’s frustrating to have to figure things out all over again. Making something different doesn’t always make it better.

Functionality

Overall it is a very user friendly app. In comparison to other brokerage platforms (Webull in particular) there is a large gap of sub standard tools and resources to engage in trading/ investing. If Merrill/ the application was more “up-to-date” in the sense of interaction and feel, I would be more inclined to trading day-to-day and not investing. I also use other platforms (Yahoo Finance & Webull) to research, view charts and look at updated quotes because Merrill seems to lack the tools to make these apparent.

Excellent integration

I appreciate the effort BoA/ML made to move easily between banking and investment accounts. My family has banked with BoA since selling a small securities business to BoI over 150 years ago. We remained loyal, but were repeatedly disappointed. Growth for growth’s sake led to repeated write and melt downs. Now it is run equitably, intelligently and is a bank to be proud of and trust once again. My wife raves about you too. Keep up the good work.

Messages on my Merrill

If you’re in the middle of a message and would like to go to the next message, it would be convenient to have a next message or a pre-VS message button available. Instead you have to close one message out go back into the messages click on the next message and a lot of times all the messages are labeled with the same title so you have to figure out which message you really want to open.

Bill pay stinks

The bill pay system is so un-user friendly. I can’t find anyway to see what payments are scheduled and a calendar of payments to be made on a calendar. Now I have the same bill being paid twice and can’t find anyway to delete or stop one from being paid.
It would be so much easier if I had a 12 month calendar showing all payments scheduled.
And I couldn’t figure out how to s schedule all of my payments for the year. I think I use to be able to do that but that feature seems to have disappeared. 😤

Trading Platform Defaults Terrible

When reviewing an existing stock in my IRA account and want to add to that position when I hit TRADE button MyMerrill immediately defaults to trade in my CMA account. Several times I almost purchased securities in the wrong account because MyMerrill fails to lock in the account I am reviewing nor does it populates the security I am reviewing. This flaw is a recipe for making a trading error.

App review

MyMerrill needs work, a lot of work. Often I will sign in and not be able to make a trade until I sign out and back in, very frustrating on volatile days and when I have mentally set limit orders and see a price I like (or don’t). It’s also very short on quality up to date analyst work and articles regarding the company in question. Another aspect that needs a lot of work is more effort on making monthly, yearly and weekly performance numbers and graphs easy to understand and simple to see. Also I’d add some color to make it not quite so dry and lifeless. Hope any and all of these changes come to fruition.

Very clunky for trading.

Very clunky and awkward for trading, especially options. Fail to provide even the most basic info. Example, you pull up the options page listing puts and calls, but they don't provide a quote for the stock price, you have to exit trading to get that info unless you select a specific option to trade.

There’s no easy trading emoji at bottom of pages to access to get you to trading pages. There’s no easy way to initiate an option trade if you don't already own the option. I could go on and on.

MLPFS Totally Rocks

My experience with Merrill Lynch has been nothing but stellar. Principal Nancy Austin and her Team of Wonder Workers got me through the transfer of my mom’s estate after her passing last year relatively seamlessly.

They treat me like family, just what I need! Can’t get any better than that!

I give each and every current team member 5+ stars. They each deserve a promotion and a raise!!!

Fantastic

5 stars. No doubt. This is the best and most important app on my phone. Only 1 complaint. I wish stock quotes were easier to get to. I use that all the time but it’s buried under menu. Should be were secure inbox is. Bury that under the menu instead. Either that or come up with some way to make stock quotes more accessible.

Not quite right

MyMerrill usually stops giving info on holdings after I have used it fot ten minutes or so. Why? I used to use it for research on quotes but that is more difficult now also. The harder it gets to use, the less helpful it is. I do not like seeing Information No Available. Try again later. I have found that if I sign out and then sign in again suddenly the information is available. Not exactly what I want to do. I should be able to use MyMerrill as long as I want to.

New ML Application Now in the Works for Me

This will really be a great tool when I’m on the go. Merrill has always provided great customer service for my needs — and my wealth manager Chris Carbone is a big part of my success and financial stability — so “I think this could be the start of a beautiful friendship” (Bogie in the last scene of “Casablanca) that will be even more profitable.

Step down from old app.

The old version of MyMerrill was much more useful. This version seems to be dumbed down. Hard to find news. No watchlists on home page.

And a huge bug, unable to download statements. How can you ship a financial app that doesn’t download statements?

Could be better

Like the research, but website needs work. Change in portfolio balances from prior day is not available. You can see portfolio changes for current day, but next morning you only see the balance. No idea what the dollar changes were from prior day. Website is awkward and difficult to find things. Needs to be more user friendly

Many features, needs to be more user friendly

There are a ton of features an options on MyMerrill. Unfortunately, I feel like I need to call my advisor when I have questions on how to perform certain functions that should be relatively basic. Overall, I do think the majority of information needed is readily available.
