There is quite literally zero redeeming qualities about this mobile app. Not only is it slow and glitchy. But it also has had zero improvements over the last 5 years I have used it. You can only see the last 10 or so transactions you have made, no further. For that you will have to pull your statements, which is a completely separate process entirely. Why not allow users to access (at least) their past month’s transactions in a simple and easy way? Isn’t that the entire reason people use these apps?

I certainly hope you do not have a check you want to deposit through FirstHorizon, because I promise no matter how you position your check or signature, it will not accept it. This has been an ongoing issue for years. Every few months I will give it another shot, thinking maybe there was an update I missed that has patched this. If you need to make a deposit, it’ll be less of a headache to just drive to the local branch. But it is always to no avail.

FirstHorizon was bad when I first began using it circa 2015, and I excused it at the time because it was a new app and process for First Tennessee (Horizon.) But how have there been no improvements on these issues in that time? It’s ridiculous and frustrating. The only reason I haven’t switched banks is because I think it would be more of a headache switching than it is to deal with their ridiculous online interface.

Zelle… wheres my money?!!

The way zelle is set up is actually awful.. zelle cant link with my first horizon bank account, you cant link you contacts so you have to manually set it up for each person, and sometimes it won’t even go thorough.. feels like you guys say you have zelle just to say you have it… to add to the FirstHorizon takes possibly days to display the accurate amount for transactions and deposits… I deposit my checks at your actual bank with a tender and the money still doesn’t show up on my account?? I need to call corporate to have them give me my money.. the best part is that my employer has the same bank so the fact that you guys have issues amongst your own bank is actually ridiculous.. so far i want to say this is possibly the worst bank ive had the displeasure to deal with.. i would rather go to a local credit union thats ran by 2 guys because i feel like even they can give me better support than you guys…

I have been banking with this bank for over 6 years. Idk why. FirstHorizon has always caused problems. This is why I don’t update it. Recently, they had changed it to where you HAVE to update it to use it. Ever since, I haven’t been able to check my info on FirstHorizon nor online. This isn’t my first time having issues with such a simple task.I am fed up. I have to go up to the bank myself to check out my info. I am transferring to another bank because if a company still hasn’t worked on their main SIMPLE issues such as an APP after YEARS of PROBLEMS! they truly don’t care to be reputable and better. It doesn’t cost much to pay the right person with the right program with less glitches and bugs. Do better!! Don’t just try to LOOK like you are!

I have truly enjoyed deleting and reinstalling your app as have your other reviewers... hope you see the sarcasm but as you have not addressed any of the issues I felt the need to point it out. As on of your other reviewers wrote you need stars below 1 to acculturate rate how well you have ruined mobile banking for your customers!

It is comforting to see the star ratings dropping by the hour... perhaps you need to listen to your honest reviews reviewers and well written comments. To the other reviewers, great job by some to at least make us all laugh at this miserable failed attempt. Also we must note the insincere reply from developer (auto reply I hope... if so please update)to try reinstalling or call a support line that is equally unresponsive with outlandish wait times I think shows what our latest merger has to offer. I do believe after 5 mergers it is time to bail on this bank!!! Best of luck on the next merger and to anyone reading this (I assume only frustrated customers) I wish you the best of luck and keep the great reviews coming. Short of this bank getting their act together (doubtful) we will be with a bank that realizes it’s customers enjoy mobile banking and it’s benefits.

Terrible interface and user experience.

I have been a First TN (Horizon) customer for six years. Let me start by saying that I rarely take the time to write an app review; however, since I have done all of my bill pay and banking online for awhile, I have to comment on how terrible this latest version is for this purpose:

1. Painfully slow. And, no, it is not my network I am using to access it. It takes FOREVER to load even the simplest of queries; online statements are even longer to access

2. The interface is terrible for bill pay. I have to go through multiple screens for bill pay just to get to regular payees list. There are so many prompts to go through to pay one bill, I am tempted to go back to doing it with regular mail. Also, the bill timeline is not intuitive to find and not easily accessible.

3. Overall, the user experience is bad. Was this upgrade even vetted with a test group while it was developed??? It’s like a bunch of developers got in a room together and designed this with no input from customers.

Fix the usability and make this simpler to do the tasks most people use it for....bill pay and transfers between accounts.

Hate This App!!

FirstHorizon used to be good, but since the update, mine has NEVER worked again. Mine is just a blank white screen every time I try to use it. I have called technical support 5-6 times and they treat me terrible and basically told me, well you do know how to use a computer right, just log in on your computer and pull up your account, you can survive without FirstHorizon . FirstHorizon used to work for me with no problems, but I haven’t been able to use it to keep track of my account since the update. The only page it shows is the mobile deposit page, so I can deposit checks on FirstHorizon , but that’s it. I can’t check my balances, I can’t see pending transactions, I can’t see cleared transactions - I can’t do anything on FirstHorizon and nobody at First Horizon will help me resolve this.

Worse after update! Visa Classic info always wrong

Came back to say, no access for maintenance yesterday. Today: forced update. Besides all the glitchy login rigamerole, now when I go to transfer money between internal accounts it says “no accounts.” I need functionality from my bank. About to just close my accounts! Get it together!
Classic account info still bogus. Statement date: 7/02, last payment date: 7/14, min payment due date: 7/26, really? Funny bc I use the card and pay it all off immediately!

Payments transferred from first horizon checking to bank issued Visa Classic take weeks to show! “Manage my account info” stays wrong. According to it my last payment was in October. It says min payment due is $40 (it has a zero balance) and min payment due date is a past date. Completely useless.

So bad I had to change Banks

Since First Horizon bought out the bank i was using I had to switch to FirstHorizon as wel. Not an issue, if FirstHorizon actually worked.. i feel like in 2022 theres no point in even having a bank account without reliable online banking. i do 99% of my banking through FirstHorizon , deposits, transfers.. everything. but with first horizon every time id open FirstHorizon was a roll of the dice sometimes it would work fine sometimes it wouldn't log in, sometimes it would crash, and sometimes it would freeze.. it was so bad i ended up going through the hassle of switching checking accounts to Chase Bank since i figured they had enough sense to hire a decent developer for their app. Happy to say everything's working fine now but reading through these reviews and how long people have had issues with no resolution i just can’t believe they haven't done anything to fix it yet!

Very slow

I was switched to first horizon, because of suntrust. Since day one of using FirstHorizon, I’ve had issues. Some days it works, most days I have to close out 5 to 10 times before it will load. I have my login saved and Face ID set up, and every few days it will remove all of my saved logins and I have to redo the whole setup. FirstHorizon will rarely work with check deposits. The utter time just spent trying to get it to load is ridiculous. I check my bank account 3-5 times daily and spending more than 3 minutes to get it to load is uncalled for. I also hate that I can’t open my pending charges to see the information about who the charge is from. FirstHorizon needs some serious updating. I have seriously considered switching banks due to the troubles I have with FirstHorizon.

Worst bank app ever!

I’ve been a customer of this bank since they were Green Bank. Back then their online banking app was the very best! Since being bought out by First Tennessee, (Now First Horizon) I’m thinking of changing banks, due to their horrible online banking app. Every time there’s an update, it turns off the biometric login feature. When you log-in with your password, you are instructed to go to “Mobile Settings” to turn-on biometric login, but there isn’t a Mobile Settings option! I then call my local branch where I find they are clueless, and they send my call to customer support, where I hear a recorded message telling me that they currently have a “high call volume”, so I sit and wait, and wait, and wait! No surprise though, because every single time this bank does an update, they disable the biometric feature! These developers endless circle of stupidity causes frustration and inconvenience for the bank’s customers and I’m sure causes longtime clients to seek less stressful online banking options!

EASILY the worst banking app I’ve ever used

This has been the most horrible experience I have EVER had with a banking app. Where to even begin…FirstHorizon is slow, constantly undergoing maintenance, and extremely difficult to navigate as well as missing essential and seemingly basic functions. Their customer service is equally as bad and incompetent. Their customer service is exactly what you would expect from a corporation that clearly cares so little about their customers that they don’t update an app with 1.5 stars on FirstHorizon Store to make it better for their consumers. They are clearly have no training on even the basics of their own application. When calling to see why it’s not possible to make a mobile deposit and why I have NEVER been able to make a deposit on FirstHorizon, I was told “we are currently undergoing maintenance, check back tomorrow”…for a year apparently. It’s honestly a joke and FirstHorizon is the main reason I’m switching banks. Fix FirstHorizon and make it more user friendly, or lose more customers, it’s that simple.

Since they switch over to the new updated app, even after second update, it is so slow. I don’t like the layout. I have given it several weeks to speed up and adjust. Still do not like it at all. I like the First TN style. Not sure why this one is so lagging. I have never put a review on FirstHorizon Store. That is how much I dislike FirstHorizon. Have no choice but to use it though.

Update: Of course I got the same response as everyone else. My internet speed if fine. Everything else on my phone and in my house is perfect. I have tried it other places, stores, my car, even the moon and it is slower than Christmas. Obviously if you look at the other reviews, delete and reinstall does not work. Maybe talk with the First Tennessee developers and revamp FirstHorizon. Giving the same response to customers after many customers tell you that reinstall does not work is NOT good customer service. Just because you respond does not make you look good. Hopefully you begin to listen to your customers because digital banking to a huge part of banking now.

Mediocre small town bank

I used to have this bank when it used to be first Tennessee. I had my checking and savings while I lived in Chattanooga. I now have my savings and checking with BOA since I moved to CA. The only reason I use this bank is because I have my first credit card with them which is a 500$ credit limit college credit card. If it didn’t hurt my credit score to remove my credit card I wouldn’t be with this bank anymore. They are super behind and this bank is meant for people who will never get out of their small town. FirstHorizon locked my account for one wrong attempt in answering the question to verify my identity. I won’t even bother calling to unlock my account since I rarely use this credit card. I regret getting my credit card with them. I can’t pay off the credit card like the rest of my cards. With this card I have to call to get it done. I can’t just transfer money to the credit card for some reason. Totally behind in terms of everything honestly. When I used to go in person, I would in line for a long time before I get things done. Hustle and urgency does not exist in this bank.

Mobile deposit not working after update

FirstHorizon would not let me use it until I updated FirstHorizon . Now I’m trying to make a mobile deposit and I keep getting a failed deposit unsuccessful message. The deposit screen drags tremendously when loading and then times out. Then when it does load after closing FirstHorizon and rebooting my phone the deposit lets me go through all of the steps and then after clicking the final button it spins and says unsuccessful due to time out. So frustrating. Also my scheduled items are not displaying. I read the other disappointed customer’s review about the missing scheduled recurring payments and I’m experiencing the same issue. Please fix the time out issues so FirstHorizon loads the deposit information and I’m able to make a deposit. Thank you!
…after posting the above review, later that same night, I get an email notification of my successful deposit and I’m able to view the front and back of the check I deposited. Yay! However, the recurring payments that were missing are showing as cancelled. I’m afraid to set them up again for fear of what happened to one of the other reviewers. FHB app support, what do you suggest? And no thank you to calling the 800 # and being further inconvenienced. Pretty please just fix it. Thanks again!

why i’m leaving this bank

I recently had to switch to FirstHorizon after First Horizon bought Iberia Bank who I had been with for many years. Unfortunately, due the fact that 99% of banking happens ON FirstHorizon or website and not at a location with people, I will be finding another bank with which to do my business. In short (and as a designer myself), I think FirstHorizon needs to be completely rebuilt, not just fixes. Curiously, the preview shows a black background but instead it is their blue/white/red colors. I have both a biz account and a personal account and used to be able to quickly toggle between them when it was Iberiabank. No longer. This means added time and inefficiency. To me FirstHorizon is clunky, not user-friendly, completely un-aesthetic, and not intuitive. It’s a frustrating experience to use, which considering how important it is to daily life to me should be a priority for this bank to address before they go buying up yet another set of banks.

The New Update Has Issues

The old version of FirstHorizon worked almost without fail. Visually, it was very outdated but it’s functionality was fine. Mobile deposits were sometimes difficult and the system was very picky on signatures and messy hand writing but overall it did it’s job. After the recent update, 9 times out of 10 (it’s 10/10 recently) when I try to open FirstHorizon none of my account information displays. The only way I can check my balance is through Quick Glance. I have been able to submit mobile deposits but forget monitoring charges and transfers except through Quick Glance. I tried deleting and redownloading FirstHorizon . That didn’t change anything. It has been so frustrating that I’ve considered changing banks. I don’t even know who to call about this.

After the update I can finally now deposit checks by mobile. But, the one thing I can’t stand with FirstHorizon is it automatically assigns categories and labels to my transactions-all of which are wrong!!!! I want to label my own. It’s so frustrating to log in and check your account to find a check listed as insurance and be so confused only to find out it was a check you wrote to the babysitter. Or to find umpteen things listed as entertainment and none of them are such. There’s no reason for this. I select “ignore” each time and still this happens. I contacted the bank to let them know and there hasn’t been any improvements. None of my other financial apps have near the amount of glitches this one does.

Not user friendly

FirstHorizon, along with the website, is so frustratingly un-user friendly that I’m considering just closing my account. Moved over here from SunTrust and of course I’m disappointed.

I can’t find my routing number anywhere on FirstHorizon . When I signed up for “one touch” fingerprint login, I didn’t expect it to be two or three touch, as I physically have to tap the “one touch” button every single time I log in before I’m prompted to fingerprint scan, and sometimes I still have to type my password and answer security questions as if I haven’t logged in one thousand times already.

Yes, FirstHorizon is functional and I can see my accounts, but I’m very limited in what I can do and blocked by unnecessary walls before I can get there.

Failed to load

Several weeks ago an update was pushed out for FirstHorizon . Unfortunately, from that point forward FirstHorizon will no longer load. I contacted my local branch to let them know if the issue; the local branch manager confirmed that they were aware of the issue and were working to fix it. So far…no fix.

When FirstHorizon was working it was a decent product. I really only used to check balances on accounts and confirm deposits. For the most part it was easy to use with no issue. No real frills but I had no complaints. It’s an altogether different story now. Please fix FirstHorizon .

Very Happy with the app, BUT....

Please make it where we can permanently clear the “pink” notifications you put at the top of FirstHorizon ’s homepage. I, very much, appreciate you letting us know when there is a scam, a new feature to FirstHorizon , or when online banking will be down, but it’s kind of irritating to have to see it for days/weeks after I’ve read it. It would be really nice if there was an option to delete it after I’ve read it. Also, this would be beneficial when you have different announcements back to back. I’ve started to just exit out of the notification when I go into FirstHorizon without reading it because I assume it’s the same message as it was the day before. When it’s a different message, I don’t notice it right away. If I could clear the message I’ve already read, I would know that if it pops up again it’s a new message I need to read. I know it may seem trivial to some, but I would like to make sure I see any new messages when you post them, and I would like to be able to see my balance as soon as I open FirstHorizon , without having to scroll down past something I’ve already seen. Other than that, FirstHorizon works beautifully!

Bringing down the app on a holiday?

The bank has had many changes over the years, and none of them (FirstHorizon included) have went over smoothly for myself or my husband. He hasn’t had access to his app in 2 years, ever since the change over. Can’t even check our balance he has to call me and ask!! He had repeatedly told me we are changing banks. He calls, never gets a live person and gets even more frustrated. FirstHorizon and website are always going down for (updates). Today, after the update, FirstHorizon AND website are down, on a major Holiday when most people are traveling and spending money and need to know the status of their account! This is my final straw. I’ll bet BOA or Wells Fargo’s apps are up today.

New update; still slow and clunky

I expect better. FirstHorizon’s first version was the best. Each update seems to get worse. This one is ridiculously slow. I do all my banking online. This latest update makes me to seriously think about looking for other banks.

No one wants giant fonts and unneeded white space. We want an app that simply works and works quickly.

The developer’s response to my complaint that FirstHorizon is slow was to make sure I have a good internet connection. Ridiculous response! I have a very fast internet connection; it is very clearly FirstHorizon that behaves slower than its last version, and the last version was slower that the version before that. You are going in the wrong direction with your app development.

Updates are terrible

Where do I begin? FirstHorizon was much more user friendly until the latest update. Now, the font is so large, someone across the room can see my balances. I’m only half joking. Also, because of the font size, you can’t see who your payees are, it only gives you “initials” for the payee. So now, I have to keep clicking on the initials until I find the right payee. Additionally, in the section for upcoming payments, you can’t see what account the transfer or payment is originating. So instead of being able to glance through to see what accounts have upcoming payments or transfers, you have to click on the transaction. It’s literally the worst update I’ve ever witnessed on an app. Nice job ruining a perfectly fine and simple app.

If you haven’t downloaded the app yet, save yourself some time and just switch banks

I have always been envious of how easy it has been for everybody I know to do mobile deposits so easily, but that has never been the case for me at first Tennessee. It’s literally one of the only things I want to be able to access for mobile banking yet they literally have made it harder.

Whatever new software they are using to capture images of the checks literally will not scan or capture my check. FirstHorizon literally WASTES 30 minutes of my day everytime I need to deposit a check, solely because they can’t get it right on FirstHorizon .

I don’t know what these people are focusing on, but mobile banking is the most important aspect of how people interact with banks nowadays. Then I go to open a business checking account a couple weeks ago to realize that their business app is astronomically suckier. Now I have multiple accounts with a bank that I never should have joined in the first place. If they remotely cared about true customer service these issues wouldn’t exist.

I don’t know who was in charge of the development team for this new app, but they were obviously not qualified for the job. FirstHorizon is basically unusable. It takes 5 times longer to pay a bill, clicking on multiple links with no guidance. Can’t figure out how to see transactions!??? Mobile deposit is nearly impossible. You give instructions for how to do it at the end of the whole process, because...that makes sense. I have to use manual photos, because the automatic function DOES NOT WORK. If your goal was to get people to stop using mobile banking and force them to go into the branches in person, then you are winning. But honestly, wouldn’t that have been accomplished more easily by just deleting your app from FirstHorizon Store entirely? Please trash this one and bring back the old app. It worked much, much better. I can’t imagine all the money you wasted on this piece of trash. We have been lazy over the years about switching banks, but this might just be the thing to push us out the door. Yes, it’s THAT BAD.

Ever since the last update, I can’t log in using my Touch ID. I have to type in my password manually which is a ridiculous pain since I like to check FirstHorizon multiple times a day. It works sometimes, and sometimes asks me security questions which I either never told the bank answers to the questions in the first place, or if it asks me a legit security question, it will say I gave the wrong answer, which I didn’t, and lock me out. When I call, customer service let’s me back in, and is helpful, but I’m tired of this. I HATE FirstHorizon now. Everything was great before the last update.

Latest update not working

Latest required update apparently not working or bank servers not working with FirstHorizon yet. Several different error messages... something went wrong, cannot perform operation when trying to login. Touch or face ID currently not working either. Hope the web interface still works until FirstHorizon does again.

Update... appears bank's servers are down also as web interface inoperable either

5/26 update...login ability returned over last day. Haven't tried new features much yet. A little glitchy to enable face and fingerprint ID, but toggled it between enable/disable a time or two seems to get it working.

I am surprised to see so many low scores in recent ratings as I think FirstHorizon does a very good job all in all.

By clicking on the account, I get over thirty days of activity. If that is t enough, the statements download easily. Mobile deposit is still good but not perfect. As we have black countertops, taking the pics is rather straightforward. We have had a couple of times where the background made it difficult.

Multiple bill pay is a bit more difficult. Previously, when I have selected a payee, the details automatically drop down, showing previous payments. It is not quite as simple in the newest version as I have to click once again to see that info. It just helps make sure I don’t double-pay a bill.

The phone version multi pay takes forever :-) to scroll back to start when I fill in last item. That sure could be improved or, maybe, I have missed the mark.

I would love to see a way to mark old accounts, or one-time accounts, so they go to bottom of the page and I don’t have to scroll though them. Due to account number changes, I have two or more entries for several payees.

All in all, FirstHorizon is easy to use and reliable when filled out correctly. We moved to a new house about three years ago, ordered 200 new checks and have only used about ten. This is way better.

Honestly, I don’t why there are mostly 1 Star reviews for FirstHorizon I mean come on, it’s a banking app, you can’t expect the most out of it, but what I have experienced is amazing. I love first Horizon Bank and FirstHorizon and i don’t understand how y’all have 2.5 stars because I think y’all should at least have 4 stars. FirstHorizon is great for people wanting to keep up with their banking info and other stuff too. The first horizon team are very helpful and understanding so just keep on doing what y’all are doing first Horizon :)
