4.8 out of 5
Would love to rate at zero

Had the most ridiculous couple of days trying to register for mobile banking and this piece of crap
Told repeatedly that my info does not match records Despite they used my cell phone to tell me to download this technology and my email address to do similarly not to mention fact that I have been using my apparently non existent scotia card for on line purchases with no problems Spent forever on phone last night given temporary password which did not work Deleted and reinstalled app as told this would work No it didn’t Bunch of crap Ended up with a lecture from the assistant explaining to me that internet banking was how things were going Told him I was well aware as have UK accounts with on line banking when these jokers were getting excited about chip and pin cards

Security

It’s enraging that I can’t use Scotiabank without having a password lock on my phone. I couldn’t even get past the log in screen without allowing notifications AND having password lock on my phone, both things I hate using and do not want on my phone. It was the worst experience I’ve had trying to set up an app that’s supposed to make my life easier and I still can’t use it and operate my phone the way I prefer. The “added” security of 2SV is not added security if it annoys me more than it helps me.

Malfunctioning 2-step verification

After the two step verification was launched, I never got a success on Emt request from outside, or third party like plaid. It just push a notification say are you login, after I login it just send me a notice something went wrong. This issue becomes more ridiculous, when I accidentally deleted it and reinstalled it. Then it blocks my login forever, with 2fc failure loop, I cannot login, what a nightmare.

Lovely to get locked out when this app requests an update

Tried to verify my log in once, Scotiabank required an update, and beautifully enough after updating it locked me out. Something about getting confirmation from my 2 factor device. Curiously enough, the phone where I updated Scotiabank *was* the 2 factor device. Nice job this app 🤞

Called this app and the phone support agent locked me out of my account completely. Great app👌

Nonexistent email security

This bank has a customer who is using MY email address for their bank account. I called today and confirmed that the bank DOES NOT require any email verification when a new customer sets up a new account. Which explains why I never received any email verifications when their customer set up their account using MY email address.

So hey- if you want to commit banking fraud- and don’t want to have to verify your email- this is the bank for you!!

The company was not able to locate the customer using MY email address, or remove my email address from anything other than their marketing emails.

It’s astonishing that in 2023 a BANK doesn’t require any email verification. I’d be impressed if I wasn’t so incredibly annoyed.

Time to change banks

We have been contemplating a change in banks. This is the first time I logged in to the new app, and I’ll tell you what… We now have a reason to change banks. Scotiabank is terrible and the functionality just isn’t there. All I’m trying to do is look back three months at bill payments.I can’t even find the bill pay option on the new app much less the payments that were made. I love the old app it was everything you needed and it worked well. Bye bye Scotia Bank....

Registering a recipient to transfer money to

I have been trying for three weeks to register a business recipient to transfer money to online and this junk just don’t work. I went in the branch in Exuma and was lectured on how I must be doing something incorrect.
I’ve two recipients on my account already that I setup and now I am being told I am doing something wrong. I even called the branch and was told the same thing.
It’s frustrating when you have to drive for 42 miles and then stand on a 45 minutes line in normal times to get to the teller. HELP!!

The worst banking app I’ve used

Nothing but issues and unplanned outages. Perhaps it’s time to hire some developers and IT from Canada instead of sourcing it to people overseas. Countless issues that have a domino effect on bills being paid on time and money going missing. Canada wide outage again today where people’s payroll deposits have disappeared. Imagine having to purchase something important like food etc. It’s unacceptable and there is NO reassurance that this bank will get it together. The fees they charge are for what exactly?

Unable to deposit cheques or pay bills

I only used the old app to deposit checks and pay bills. The mobile deposit feature is critical for me as I no longer live in Canada and it is the only reasonable way for me to deposit money without crazy fees (USD Cheque to my USD this app account). Now when I attempt to deposit a cheque I get "no accounts" even though I've got 2 accounts (USD and CAD checkings) visible on the main screen.

Furthermore I'm unable to pay bills. I'm being told I need to have a this app checkings account even though I have one.

Don't get me wrong, I like the new UI but only if it works! Happy to re-review once a fix is in place.

App designed by moron

Long ago app was half decent now with all the latest revisions highly valuable features has taken away. If something was working perfectly why would you want to remove it? Used to be credit score get updated every month, it has all the account details just as we would directly get from TransUnion all of that gone. Now it get updated every two or three months.

Primary account listed disorderly. I have had several accounts. Since this bank is in the toilet I decided to switch all my primary banking to TD. With this horrible service you have the nerve to charge $16 a month in service fees.

Wow, new app horrible out of the box

They switched to some twisted idea of an outdated recent trend to makes things flat and fluffy crap. Lost a ton of functionality, simplicity and use-ability and all I did was log in and look at an account.

HORRIBLE TRASH, BRING BACK THE OLD.

Wow, what a pain in the .... Looks stupid. Have so many more things to do to find the info you want. The old app was way more functional and efficient. Some developer they hired has to touch with reality of how people use things. Just so much fluff and bloat it takes so much effort to do stuff. Before I could just see it all and slide to my next account. So much more functional. Now click and click and click to try to figure it out, scattered all over the place. Trying to make it look pretty is all someone tried. What junk.

The bank isn’t any better I have found, I sincerely regret getting credit cards with them. I used to think Scotiabank was one of their best features.

One of the worst banks/ refit card companies.

facing notification issues

Scotiabank is good no doubt but unfortunately after i’ve updated my ios version to 15.6.1 i’m not getting any push notification from Scotiabank, though other apps like facebook, messenger, whatsapp, telegram etc. all are giving me notifications normally. I checked in the settings-> notifications-> notification style but didn’t see this app there. Other apps who give me notifications are there and they did ask me permissions about giving notifications after i updated ios and reinstalled those apps, but this app didn’t ask … can it be fixed ?

Layout

We aren’t we able to customize what we see on Scotiabank and where it is located.
I would like to find items with one click on one item instead of clicking on multiple drop down options.
The site in not as user friendly as it could be.

Need new balance for every transaction

The only thing missing is the new, updated balance after every transaction.
It could be a small number to the right of the amount of the transaction. It’s easier to keep track that way rather than waiting until the end of the month to view my statement.

Money transfers

I cant figure out how to transfer money into my American bank account. I did it 3 years ago but I cant seem to figure it out now. Seems that function on Scotiabank is gone now ? Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you
Mark

Simple for seniors!

I am new to online banking. I have resisted using an online program until 2 years ago. As a 70 year old, I am especially pleased to find Scotia bank's online system very easy to navigate!
Thanks, Scotia folks!

Mr

Newly I opened an account with this app and I have great appreciation for the bank as well. I am really impressed with the help of the bank and specifically Mr. Ravi Bhavsar, the financial advisor of this bank helped me out in many ways. Thanks to him and Scotia Bank too. Thanks again, Mushfique Ahmed

Review

1) I am upset. I am in Florida. I lost my pin for my debit card. I do not have a bank nearby to renew my pin. Therefore, I cannot use my credit card.
2) and employee called me from the swift current bank, she said I could put my money into a savings account, and she would call me back, and she never called back

Frustrating…

I have a US account as well as my chequing account. I have had numerous times that it will not allow me to transfer from US to CDN with the new changes that have been made. I have to go to a web browser and sign in to do a simple transfer. Something is wrong. You put in the amount you want to transfer and it just sits there thinking and thinking until you give up!

Customer for life

this app is unlike other big banks. I find them easier to deal with, more responsive to questions and needs and the best to use when travelling.
