4.7 out of 5
Pathetic

Livedrive is so bad, I'm surprised that any legitimate company would offer it or even keep it available. It's unstable. It essentially allows no file management. It's slow. It doesn't sync or file compare well. It doesn't download.
It makes me question the wisdom of using the PC- based service when they put out such a frustrating time-waster.
I've used this app for years, and I'm giving Livedrive and the service three months or going to other service regardless of cost.

No Verizon iPhone Support

I just signed up for the free trial on the $24 a month package. It is sad that Livedrive won't work on my Verizon iPhone though. I have the latest software, version 4.2.10 but Livedrive requires version 4.3 which is only available for the AT&T iPhone. I won't bother to upload my files since I can't access through the one piece of electronics I carry everywhere, my phone. They should post a warning prominently on their website to avoid the embarrassment of having someone find out only after they try to load Livedrive . I never thought to look at Livedrive reviews before I signed up. Lesson learned.

C'mon guys. Fix this and give the Verizon iPhone support. If you do, you will certainly have me and a lot of others for customers. Do it before my two week trial ends, and I will amend my rating. Unless, of course, you give me another two weeks sometime in the future when you fix this.

Needs a lot more improvement

I signed up for this app in hopes of replacing Dropbox, but now I have to use both. The mobile app is not even close to the Dropbox app, with which I can access all my files instantly after saving them with a different device, and open and save them in conjunction with other apps. this app app doesn't let me do any of that except viewing them, even that doesn't work most of the time. I keep getting the message "The folder is empty or connection to this app has failed." It's totally frustrating because I know the folder is not empty; the file is there but I just can't access it with Livedrive . So I don't use Livedrive at all now. There is a lot of improvements to be done if this app is to compete with Dropbox.

Caveat emptor

I foolishly signed up on some 5-year deal, paid $447 five years ago. I didn't use the service, and never heard from this app again. But I did hear from my credit card, because another $447 charge popped up out of the blue. No warning, no nothing.i tried to cancel the account but was "told" that the payment for the next 5 years would not be refunded. I launched a dispute with the credit card company, but was unsuccessful. this app told the credit card company that it was my responsibility to understand the terms of the trial period. Trial period?? That was finished five years ago. I'm not even sure if my account cancellation was successful, but I sure will find out before the next time they come to rob me of $447. Beware this company.

Can't get to my files

I purchased Yesterday and was impressed with the speed my computer files were backed up. Then I downloaded the iPhone app (4S) and I can see the files but NONE will open. I keep getting errors. I've begun to wonder if this is a real system or a scam to steal personal information. If I had read the reviews here I probably would not have purchased. They need to get these bugs fixed!!

Admin Tab or Option?

Can you PLEASE add admin support to Livedrive for viewing, adding accounts and so forth? Mainly, viewing status and connection dates, usage and everything else in the web portal under the Admin dashboards?

I can do without the managing accounts but to view all of the Dashboards would be key to my support of your service and my organization.

Thanks.

Won't work with Verizon iPhones

I use this app everywhere. Today I got my new iPhone 4 (Yeah, I know, dumb as there's a new model coming out in 3-4 months but work got it for me) and even though I upgraded the iPhone to the latest version of IOS (4.2.8), the latest version of Live Drive Mobile won't install because iTunes says I need a newer version of IOS.

When I try to download it from the iPhone itself, I get a clearer message... it wants IOS 4.3.

As it turns out, IOS 4.3 is only available for the GSM models (read AT&T) and my phone is on Verizon.

Sadly, this app Mobile works fine on my 2nd Gen 8GB iPod Touch, 4th Gen 32GB iPod touch and my wife's 16GB iPad WiFi (the original)

Dropbox App Way Better

We use this app for the Briefcase feature and the selective sync features. However, when it comes to speed and stability Dropbox significantly outperforms this app. Dropbox improves their app almost once a week. Since I have had this app I have not seen a single IPhone update to fix the bugs and errors. I wish this app would get their act together because the overall feature set is great.

Good start but needs a lot of work

The file arrangement from mobile devices on backed up Mac iOS is clunky. Also the Mac doesn't seem to be backing up completely. App also needs a feature to backup iPads as well. Should check out carbonite to be a more formidable competitive offering.

Needs a lot of work

First of all, Livedrive needs a more friendly uploading capability, currently you can select only 1 photo at a time, I prefer this app over Dropbox because of the sharing capabilities, as well as the amount of storage you get, but I greatly prefer the uploading feature of the Dropbox app... Also Ina tablet/iPhone era, they need to make all the features of this service compatible with ios devices! Otherwise the service is stable, and I love knowing I have plenty of storage

Better then the web link

Livedrive marks an great improvement in file access. I was able to upload a photo and share it I wish it would stream my video via iPhone but overall it's smooth and without bugs. I hope further improvements made to this app service are reflected in Livedrive.

Video streaming is not truly a service here

I would say it is a blatant lie for them to claim you can stream your videos via Livedrive. I cannot say whether or not it actually works for WMV format, but for many other popular formats, it gives error message saying file is to large to "preview" (huh, what happened to watch?) on iPhone (and I'm using iPad).

Otherwise, seems clean enough and functional, but the video streaming option is what had me curious enough to try. Too good to be true on that aspect.

Flawed but a good start!

Honestly my biggest complaints are not enough admin/dashboard capabilities & unable to send links to share files directly from app! What good is it if you can't send link to file directly from app? FYI video streaming works great on all formats for me & I've tested mkv, avi, mp4, & wmv so that issue has been fixed. I'm on an iPad...

App Works Very Well, But - - -

The service overall didn't work as I needed. I expected to be able to use the service just as if it were one of my NAS drives, however to make that work I seemed to need an additional copy - a cache copy - of everything, doubling my disk requirement. That said, Livedrive itself worked very well, in fact better than anything I have used.

As others have said, virtually no support, however when I asked for a refund I get an immediate response and no problem with the refund.

Good but could be better

Useful app but missing some key features:

1) needs to cache artist/album names in music folder. For instance, I have thousands of artists and albums, but it will only show a few at a time. You can load more into the viewer, but it will not remember them when you leave and come back. This makes the music player almost unusable. Maybe offer option to selectively cache certain info locally.

2) Should have the ability to create multiple playlists and to view them from the main music folder.

3) Should auto maximize pictures and rotate them when the phone is rotated.

4) In addition to music link on main screen, would benefit from photo and maybe movie link to folders containing pictures and movies.

5) Will not play many common movie formats.

6) Does not show full folder names for long names. Thus you have to click on multiple folders to find the one you want.

Feels too limited

So I have the this app pro suite which means I have access to the briefcase, however Livedrive does not allow for me to download the folder & files I need. What is the point of Livedrive if I can't access the files?

Works well, but needs a better interface

I signed up for the this app service and downloaded the iPad app for 1 main reason - to have access to my media (video and music) wherever I go on my iPad. For that purpose, it works well. The desktop app uploads the files fast and without a hitch, and the upload process does not significantly interfere with the rest of my activities on the computer. Once in the cloud, the iPad app streams the video perfectly - movies start playing within a few seconds of clicking on them. If you want, you can output the video through an HDMI adapter to an HDTV, where it looks great. I certainly have not had the problems with crashes that others are reporting.

My beef with the iPad app is the file access interface. You get access to only a limited number of files when you first access your backup files, and in order to see all of them you have to keep clicking "More Results" - it takes me 5 or 6 tries to finally be able to see all of my files. If they fix that, this will be pretty much perfect for my needs.

Not as bad as other reviews

I haven't had any of the problems other reviewers have stated about crashing. Te only thing keeping this from 5 stars is lack of iPhone 5 screen optimization. I hate letter boxing.

Pretty good

Not sure what all the bad reviews a for but I like Livedrive. It mirrors everything you do for your online backup In a simple to manage way.

Unlimited storage with Access anywhere

Great price for unlimited storage! Wish iCloud did that
