Quite literally useless app

The company I work for uses this app for their 401K provider and apart from their app, I've found them to be pretty good. That being said, I don't know how a company this size can't get someone to improve Nationwide, it honestly might be the most basic, useless app I've ever used. I can literally only do 2 things on Nationwide , see by balance and YTD return or see my balance and my yearly return. That's it. I can't see what funds I'm holding specifically in my target date fund, no graph showing growth since starting my 401K, no option to allocate my funds differently, etc... I can only see my balance and that is it. I use other brokerage apps and you can do so many things but for some reason this app has decided to put 0 effort into their app. I do most things on my phone like a lot of younger people and this fact alone would stop me from investing any other money I have with them but unfortunately I don't have a choice in my 401K provider. Seriously this app, hire someone to make your app even a little bit useful.

this app is amazing! I never had a problem with using you guys as my car insurance! I have full coverage and it’s one bill I don’t mind paying! I had a flat tire a few months back. I was stressing out at first. I have a new born baby girl. My brother reminded me I have this app road side assistance. this app had a guy out to my house in 40 minutes to change my tire! Definitely happy customer! Made my entire month! I am one busy single mom to my baby girl. I feel very safe knowing I have full coverage with this app. Nationwide is really easy to use. I love that it’s so convenient for me. Definitely great care insurance. Thanks this app! Definitely on your side! :)❤️

HORRRRRRRIBLE APP

I really have no idea why Nationwide has high reviews. It is unbelievably bad. The whole this app web, app and IT department is a total mess. I just had one of their reps tell me that the only way for me to login is to clear my browser history and use Chrome or Firefox on my iPhone. That should be a red flag right there. If they’re not properly supporting Safari, iOS and the Mac, their IT department needs to be fired. I can never seem to login. I’m always on with customer service. I’m always getting weird error messages, “system down” codes, “try again later” notices, and getting locked out of my account. When I try and change my profile information and it just reverts back to its original state with nothing saved. I have these problems both on my iphone and on my computer. this app’s system is a mess!

Borderline Useless App from a company that is not much better.

My credit card number changed when I got a new one. The very first thing I did was update all my auto pay accounts. Apparently, this was too much for Nationwide to handle.

On a Saturday I get a text saying I have a few days to pay before my coverage lapses and by the way we are charging you an extra $30 because we tried to charge your old card.

Immediately, I try calling and nobody is there to take my call.

Long story short, this app makes a mistake, I get billed an extra $30, and they interrupt my weekend to lmk all of this but aren’t there to answer any calls that may result from these texts.

For the amount of money I’m paying monthly, one would think that they would at least have a working app. It’s 2020.

Please save yourself the trouble and stay away from this company.

*** Update *** 6 months later I’m trying to print out my new insurance card. Nationwide STILL does not work. Also, unlike last time, the website does not work.

Finding a new car insurance company just made the top of my to do list. This company is a joke. Avoid at all costs.

This app is junk

I’ve had Nationwide for years. It an absolute mess. It is so cumbersome and difficult to use. Every time Nationwide updates I need to spend 15 minutes logging in with usernames, passwords, and third party authenticators trying to log in. Super inconvenient when pulled over or at a car shop getting inspection done. Why insurance cards don’t automatically update when “pinned” cards expire, I don’t know. This is another example of a company developing an app to say they have it, but not using the actual app they create. It’s better than not having a mobile way to get your insurance card in a pinch, but it’s far from being a usable app.

Good app for basic functions

The this app app is OK for handling very basic functions like payments, starting claims and looking at ID cards. Supposedly you can save your ID cards in IOS wallet, but only for certain this app affiliates and mine isn’t one of them. and this is a problem if you need the card and don’t have cell service. Motorcycle IDs can’t be pulled up in Nationwide at all (maybe later, a rep said). You can’t make any policy changes in Nationwide like adding or removing vehicles or changing coverage. So what’s the point of Nationwide if I have to log on to this app’s web site to do everything? At least it’s technically solid and easy to use.

Nationwide is NOT on your side

Nationwides market cap is $1.5 Billion yet they’re such cheap people their app lacks super basic functionality. You’re an insurance company. You collect money and pay the occasional claim. Get better it’s more annoying than you’ll ever understand.

You guys have no excuse to lack basic features inside your app like NOT having the pet insurance functionality built in. Thats so incredibly ridiculous to me. I’m sick of waiting around!!!!

Youve offered pet insurance for how long? And clients still have to jump through flaming hoops to get policy info. I personally have had you since I got my puppy. Like an idiot I keep updating Nationwide hoping you've added the feature but every time, nothing.

Missing features

Do you know how complicates is to figure when you have multiple properties an when these needs to paid with multiple accounts? You guys meed to let users add nicknames to policies an pay accounts. I will reserve my 5 stars for them. Hard to figure relation between policy number with property addresses. I have múltiple properties and i need to have a separate list to know which property is the one im paying. this app may expect people to memorize relations between policy # and property. Please let users to add nick name or make property addresses visible in the main page. Also not able to create nick names on payment methods, i pay with 3 checking accounts and all i can see is the account number.

Need a Insurance Card in Virtual Wallet

For the most part I have no complaints with this app and Nationwide . It works well, has very few glitches, and does the job...i.e. I can see all my policies and pay my bills. However, I would really like to see them develop an insurance card that can be added to my Apple wallet on my iPhone. I hate having to save the image of the card to my camera roll, and then scrolling through photos in order to produce my card when needed. If it was in my wallet it would be so much more convenient and accessible. I hope this is in the works?!

Superb

I don’t know what other reviewers are talking about. Nationwide has improved over and over for the last few months. It does what it is supposed to do. Very simple and easy to understand. Other low ratings could be more human related than application flaws. Get Nationwide if you want to cut on wait times with customer service or call your local agent whose number is provided in Nationwide and actually works when you request to make the call!! Good job guys keep it up.

Bad user experience - no pet insurance

Hi there, I use this app for pet insurance and can’t get my policy to link up.

Further, the user experience is awful. For example, a simple process like verifying your mobile device when you first login is nearly impossible to complete because the design is poor. Every other app shows six boxes for each number to verify. this app uses a novel approach - a straight line with too much text on the page to know where to look. Once you add the numbers, you can’t actually access the submit button on iOS because it’s hidden under the keyboard with no “done” button. I’m likely gonna find another pet insurance carrier.

Won’t update card

After my bank account was compromised I updated my debit card. That was over a month and a half ago. First payment didn’t clear. After calling customer service I was told the account would be watched to be sure my next payment went through. Well here I am again with a payment that didn’t clear. The card number was not actually updated. I will have to call again and ask to have the fees waived. After trying multiple time to add a new card or update the existing I get stuck in a loop. I can make a payment using the card but I can’t update the payment method for auto pay and make it work. How ridiculous and a waste of my time.

Can Be Better

Some days Nationwide works great, other days my fingerprint won’t work, or it will accept it and I still have to put in password, then my password isn’t correct and I have to reset it AGAIN. Or on other days it makes me use my fingerprint multiple times, then it just shows the loading circle and when it FINALLY comes up it says oops something isn’t right. This needs to be fixed ASAP. I’m tired of writing down new passwords with dates beside them just to be told it’s wrong. Why do you have the fingerprint option if it doesn’t even work half the time. The whole point is so I don’t have to do both.

The app functionality is limited

Great insurance products, antiquated technology. You’ve had years to improve your computer systems and develop a better app and I still had to wait days for someone to call me back on my last claim because your computer system was down companywide. From Nationwide I can’t print my ID cards or share them because when I press the button absolutely nothing happens. You do have a button to submit feedback on Nationwide which just redirects me to your full website and asks a ridiculous amount of information as if I’m inquiring about something on my policy.

Pretty good

It could use an update. Some information isn’t available. Some policies show current pricing but others don’t. One of my policies isn’t even on Nationwide . When I had a claim, I couldn’t get it to process on Nationwide and had to finally call in. Otherwise it looks clean and easy to read and navigate.

It just stopped working randomly

So I LOVED Nationwide! It made it so simple to remember to pay and to pay my bill, but a couple of months ago, it stopped letting me login, I put in a complaint with Nationwide Store and I can’t seem to find their response to me. I’ve been checking this to see if it’s been fixed, I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled, and saw today that about a month ago, they “fixed all the pesky bugs” but what about the bug that gives you a “gen auth invalid” pop up every time I try to login? This has thrown me so far off with paying, I’m never on time now because I lost Nationwide.

Very Frustrating !!!!!

I tried to make a payment multiple times over a 3 week period. It ended being 2 days late. I had received a new debit card with a new expiration dates since my last payment several months ago. Rather than tell me there was a problem, each time I tried to pay online, both Nationwide and the website would just lockup. It could have come back and said there was a problem with the card or transaction, but no. Just locked up. Every single time I tried it.

Unable to Process Payments

Previously Nationwide was stable and reliable. However, for several months now I’ve been unable to process payments through Nationwide and find myself having to go to my desktop to process a payment. When I try to process a payment, there is the following error message, “Unable to process payments at this time. Try again later.”

Will this bug be fixed anytime soon?

Excellent! Easy to use

I just had the opportunity to file a claim (my car was hit while parked at the doctors office) and was pleased with how easy to use yet comprehensive it was. I normally use it to double check due dates and renewal dates. Very easy for that as well. Supports our multiple property, vehicle, umbrella policies through a single interface. Well done, folks!

One change suggestion

I really like using Nationwide. It is easy and quick when you need to find information and to pay your bill. The only change that I could think of would be to allow you to choose and make a partial payment if you have more than one vehicle.

Beat service business app ever!

Had plenty of sites where they try to assist the customer, but they are arduous to navigate or limited in scope. this app knocks it out of the park in the completeness of options; offers balances, due dates, roadside assistance, policy listings, bill pay, and even links the instant and secure face recognition instead of pesky passwords. Best service app on the planet. I am just a customer, no vested interest or compensation of any kind.

Normally this app is awesome! BUT....

I tried paying my bill the Wednesday last week and it kept saying that it encountered a problem! I tried several times and several days and it would say the same then it caused me to have a late fee! I tried it yesterday and it did the same! Now it finally let me pay it at 5:57 A.M. today which is the 27th and was due the 14th! Please fix this!

Easy but difficult

Nice and easy to pay and check on your stuff but when you got to get a quote after you put all the information it wants it tells you to call a 1 800 number why didn’t you have me call the number to begin with and save me the minutes I typed all the info in that you asked for? But other then that it’s a great app

Basically useless

Nationwide is half-useless. Great. I can view my insurance cards. Doesn’t do quotes. Doesn’t allow you to manage your policy. Doesn’t do ANYTHING besides show you payments, direct you to a poorly structured customer service automated hotline, and give you access to your insurance cards.
Other insurance companies provide much more feature rich apps, better customer service and easier access. Never in my life have I had to make as much effort to get an insurance quote FROM A CARRIER I ALREADY USE.
App is trash and my money is better spent elsewhere. Time to switch to USAA.

So many flaws...I don’t know where to start

First, I never received the text message to verify my account so I had to cancel the authorization and have it emailed instead. Second, I tried to make a payment on my account and it didn’t take the payment in full which was what I had chosen. I tried to make another payment a few minutes later in order to rectify the situation, but it wouldn’t give me the option. So now I’m left with a partial payment fee and having to try to “fix” things over the phone. Waste of my time.

If it makes my life easier, I love it!

I’m giving Nationwide 5 stars because it makes my life easier. It allows me to pay through Nationwide AND I can use Apple Pay. Another convenience is the coverage ID cards... They are accessible in Nationwide . I also have access to my home policy all in app. And it even includes my agents info. It’s been working very very well for me.

Unfortunately had the need to report an incident that caused damage to the front end of our vehicle. Used the mobile reporting application to make initial report. Very easy to navigate, clear instructions resulting in assignment of claim number and ability to select repair facility of our choice to start the repair process. Quick and Easy! Great job this app

Worked perfectly!

A few months ago I posted a bad review with a title of “Nasty app” and gave it one star. After some updates, I used it today to pay my bill and completely changed my opinion. Today it was actually a pleasure to use Nationwide, as it worked perfectly and it even emailed a payment confirmation to me. Nice work this app!

Why is pet policy left out?

this app offers pet insurance but there’s no app for it?! If you have a policy with them you should be able to view it on the mobile app! Now I’m not gonna sit here and claim that pets are family too, that’s besides the point. ANY policy should be accessible in Nationwide , is it really too complicated to add it in there, what do the claims get processed differently? Does the company have a separate customer service department for pets? Do I not make payments on my policy every month just like everyone else? It is ridiculous, it shouldn't be any different than insuring your car or home.

Great app!!

I’m almost always going to give an app a 4 star rating but Nationwide truly deserves the 5 stars in my opinion. It’s easy to use and understand, and if you need to contact a living person, it’s not hard to get that information either. Pay your bill, submit or check on a claim, it’s all here.

Like the app - only one small criticism

Nationwide works great. It’s easy to navigate and not cluttered with a bunch of stuff you don’t need. My only complaint is when making a payment, I’d like to have one last button to ask, “Are you sure”. Right now you drag and done - one more confirmation would be nice.

It actually works

I use it simply for my car insurance. Every feature I have used actually works and isn’t a pain to use. It is not cluttered with extras yet it isn’t over designed either. I really like using Nationwide as it takes some of the panic about car insurance out of my life.

Hi Nationwide app developers, The app in general is easy to use, but a really frustrating thing is that when you want to pay somebody you already paid before, you can't change the reference. The example at hand is one from many. I need to pay the landlord for something other than the rent, but when I select the landlord as somebody I paid before, I cannot change the reference from rent to, in this example, gas. Now I need to set up a new payment, using the card reader for somebody I paid before. This is a recurring issue and would be great if it can be resolved. Kind regards Sabine
