Things against it

NOT for the iPad. It’s basically the mobile app that you can tap to stretch out and ONLY use in portrait mode. This is the year 2021 and the iPad Pro has been out since when, 2017? And still we don’t have an update for BattlenetAuthenticator? I put it on both devices, phone and iPad, just in case I get a new phone, or iPad, or have to restore one to factory. It’s really ridiculous, and lazy, of developers who just port their mobile apps to iPad and basically tell us “Ah, just deal with it. I don’t want to do any more than I have to.” Microsoft has landscape and iPad version. Google has landscape and iPad version. All other Authenticators have landscape and iPad version. This one? Still in the dark ages and lagging far behind. Give us the option to use another authenticator if you are not going to update this to 2021 (or even 2017) standards. Solid 2 1/2 - 3 stars app for usability as it does what it’s supposed to do, but loses a few stars for being, well, just plain lazy in my opinion.

The app works, but...

BattlenetAuthenticator works as intended. However, every month or so, Blizzard has issues with their authentication servers for World of Warcraft. Players with an authenticator attached to their accounts are unable to login to either the Legion mobile app and/or their main World of Warcraft account. I do not know if this has affected Overwatch, Destiny 2, or Blizzard's other games. The issue is usually resolved within 12 hours, but it is frustrating to wait.

BattlenetAuthenticator will prevent someone else from logging onto your account. It will not protect you from being unable to log on to your own account if Blizzard has internal authentication issues (again). The benefits outweigh the risks. Just be aware BattlenetAuthenticator will occasionally backfire and prevent you from playing.

Does the job well, but missing a key feature

Obviously, the authenticator does what it needs to.. Authenticates. But after sooo many years, blizzard had not developed a mobile app for messaging friends on the battle net client??? This would be such an easy feature to add since this is already linked to your account, but yet it hasn't been done. Riot did it YEARS ago and it got an amazing response. Blizzard needs to step it up, this project should take no longer than a week.

Great! Works! Most of the time...

I have been using this specific app only for authenticating(obviously) but when ever I am in an area with little to no internet connection he app doesn't connect, when every other app works. NOTE, this almost never happens. But I tend to go on many trips and I constantly have to re-log in so I can play hearthstone and going in and out of internet with plane trips.

Hah you just read my entire review, thanks.

Would use it but…

Their policy to not accept pre-paid phone numbers is ignorant at best. One of those things, I’m not changing my entire phone plan for one thing and one thing alone. My phone number, that I’ve had for over 7 years, has never been a problem on literally any service whatsoever, using it on everything from game accounts, to IRS filings… Activision-Blizzard is seemingly the only service I’ve come across during this time that maintains this policy. If you have a service like Metro, or some other pre-paid phone provider, don’t bother downloading this.

Great, have a suggestion though

BattlenetAuthenticator works great as an authenticator however I feel it would be very nice to have messaging between friends within this application as well. Steam has this implemented in their application and it is very useful for when you are on the go. Other than that suggestion which I feel should already be in BattlenetAuthenticator and I am surprised it's not, BattlenetAuthenticator functions perfectly.

Been Keeping Me Safe Forever

I’ve had this on my account since the first day it was available. It’s worth it to have. I’ve had someone find my password somehow but it didn’t matter because even though they found my password they couldn’t get into my account because if the authentication app.

Easy, simple way to protect you BNet account, with no BS.

Heres the deal: if you BNet account is valuable to you, and theres a chance someone could get into you account, you can use this super simple app that, believ it or not, is even simpler than Steam mobile auth. Even though a BNet account is nowhere bear as valuable as most Steam accounts, BattlenetAuthenticator is still a nice precaution to have, and is easy to use and set up.

One suggestion

I really like BattlenetAuthenticator as it’s very useful for keeping your account safe. However when you do try to log in, the message displayed on your computer has the green button on the left. In BattlenetAuthenticator it’s in the right. I don’t know how many times I’ve pressed the wrong one. Please make this consistent with the greens either both on the left or both on the right.

Authenticator

What I like best is , if there any issue with your account Authenticator will solve the issue. Just one click away to prove that the account is mine. No one else will get that notification without it being connected to that app. Best way to know that it’s you and your account. Safety is a big issue in the game thank you blizzard wonderful app. 5 stars all day .

May The Murloc Loot Gods Be Praised

Easy to use.
Makes sure nothing you will lose.
Fast response.
Effective to boot.
All around great product but alas we always have that one guy with the..:
"BUTTTTTTT(face palming at the insolence of his rebuttal as you look him in the pit of his soul) things are never perfect"
and you sit
Agonizing in thought
Sitting with this thick silence (contemplating strapping this fine specimen of a daily legion you call the fan base to a swiftly rigged goblin rocket) only baffled by what could possibly be improved on, then it hits you.
"By Elune's Third Nipple!!!!!!"
Tap Dancing Murlocs be praised you add side art to keep these frenzied questions at bay and the customer base a bit happier.
Thank you Devs of BattlenetAuthenticator for Orc guarding pandaren reflex snapping protective goodness.
Yeaaaah

Great product!

I use BattlenetAuthenticator everyday and receive no issues. No matter where I go to play blizzard games I'm never locked out of my account and BattlenetAuthenticator has made keeping your account 10 times as safe. I hope there are more cool features to come with BattlenetAuthenticator later down the road and thank you blizzard for a great product.

Long time user.

I have played since BC, and before the authenticator, even with careful browsing and smart online behavior, I was hacked quite a few times. While blizzard always faithfully and quickly restored my characters, it got annoying quickly. This helped so much, and I’m glad they made it.

A must!

I’ve had this one my account for quite some time and usually viewed it as a pain. That is until I was just sitting on the couch and got a notification that there was a request to sign in to my account from Thailand. I easily opened BattlenetAuthenticator and denied the request. I then jumped on my computer and changed my password! Thanks, Blizzard!

Great app but wish it did some things different

I love BattlenetAuthenticator for what it does, but like steams I wish it let you manage your account a little more. It would also be nice if it allowed Authentication codes to be shown directly on the phone as notifications like steams but that's me just being lazy and not wanting to open BattlenetAuthenticator every time. Otherwise wonderful for security

It Works

I will admit, there are times where is is a little slow to receive authorization requests and send them. But in the end, it works. It does the job that it was created to do and doesn't have a bunch of bells, whistles, and adds to slow it down. It's efficient and I wouldn't expect anything less from blizzard.

Terrible

Today I had a security alert email from blizzard. So I took the necessary precautions and changed my account passwords and my email account password. I downloaded BattlenetAuthenticator to enable extra security and it will not accept my password I just created. I have signed into it from 3 different browsers to make sure I am using the right password yet this dumb app still tells me I’m entering it wrong. I guess it’s slow to update to recent events. Thumbs down from me. Google Authenticator is much better and hassle free

Great but can be much greater

Sometimes u get the notifications sometimes u have to unlock ur phone and go open BattlenetAuthenticator and accept the login.
But I am just complaining cause I am spoiled brat and expect everything to work so fast 😂😂😂. Great Authenticator otherwise. Keeps everything safe and very intuitive to switch when u get new phone. 👍🏻 👍🏻 👍🏻 👍🏻

Wonderful!!

Love overwatch, so when it said my account was shut down, a Blizzard rep (one of the best customer service companies for games by the way) told me to get BattlenetAuthenticator to protect my account in the future. No problems since and it's easy to use. Thank you for offering a way to secure an account further. - Another loyal fan

Helpful

I used to use one of the Key Fob authenticators, which was fine for what it was. But often times I would forget it at home or misplace it. BattlenetAuthenticator is nice, because no-one ever hardly forgets their phone as they walk out the door. So now Ill be able to access all my favorite Blizzard titles no matter where I am! ^_^

Don’t support this company

Blizzard Entertainment is a terrorist organization that supports the suppression of speech and severe maiming and killing of innocents on the streets.

For those not aware, a winner of a recent Hearthstone tournament said "Free Hong Kong" in an interview following their victory. In response, Activision-Blizzard chose to revoke the winnings, ban the winner from tournaments, and fire the interviewers.

This is the equivalent of an American company supporting Hitler during WW2. And I most CERTAINLY don't mean that in the hyperbolic, throw it around because we don't like your politics, kind of way... I mean it very seriously and literally. This is outright evil and they know it.

Quitterandco   2 years ago

I’ve gone a decade without this and had no issues. For me, this is just another layer of BS to struggle with if I want to enjoy the game. I’ve played WoW off and on over the years and quit for many reasons… it used to be that they offered certain perks for having this authentication service. Now they’ve decided to take away a key feature ingame for accounts that are not authenticated. Blizzard is just self imploding at this point with the decisions they make. The player base would be a lot safer if they weren’t so keen on buying gold/boosts/sharing account info for services. It’s just a shame, all around.
