Spruce – Mobile banking Reviews

So I’m a big fan of online fintech style banks and their mobile apps and wanted to try this account out and use it as a side bank…. BIG MISTAKE !!! I downloaded Spruce and applied for account. Afterwards, their mobile app makes you put in your phone number and/or email address EVERY TIME you sign in to Spruce !!! This means their mobile app does NOT sync with your phone or know who you are !!! This is a HUGE security risk and the first red flag !! Once you’re in the mobile app, if you try clicking on “security notifications” to choose how you’d like your security set up, it doesn’t do anything ? It does nothing !! It’s like it’s disabled ?? 2nd red flag !! It gets worse from there….. I called their toll free number to close down my account since there’s NO WAY I’m going to trust this company or banking app with my info, let alone my money, and SURPRISE !! I get a call center in a foreign country….. Philippines !! Umm…. how about NO !! And the lady I spoke with, didn’t even have the ability to close down my account ?!?! Seriously ?? Is this a joke ?? She told me she would have to submit a request to their “back office” to close my account and that basically I MIGHT get an email confirming closure, whenever they get around to it ?? DO NOT TRUST YOUR INFO, MONEY, OR PAYCHECK TO THIS COMPANY !!! You’ve been warned !!

I recently signed up for the this app account because I file my taxes with H&R Block every single year. I decided “why not” and filed my taxes to get my direct deposit into my new this app account. I was a little nervous because it’s a new platform but I wanted to find a faster way to get my tax refund. Signing up for this app was easy, learning my way around Spruce was quite easy as well. My only real complaint is there isn’t a specific section to see my “pending deposits” they kind of just show up (unless I haven’t found where to see that information yet). The best part is my tax return wasn’t suppose to be direct deposited until 02/22, however it came EARLY!! Which is great because one of the benefits is direct deposits up 2 days early and I got it even sooner than that! I’d recommend this app to my friends and family who want to get ahead of their finances, have early direct deposits, etc;.

This is a banking platform supposedly created by HR Block, it is really Netspend. Netspend is so crooked they hide behind well reputable names such as HR Block and PayPal and others. This tax season it was my only option I had to choose from to receive my tax refund through HR Block online free file. this app targets low income people to provide”help” with their financial spending habits. I believe the true reason is to illegally take money from people who can not afford to do anything about it. I have had at least $2645 just go missing and I’ve tried making disputes and asking about my money to be hung up on and have transactions that have cleared be duplicated and kept pending for over a month to account for some of the missing funds. They answer the phone HR Block and HR Block in office tax preparers aren’t even offering this this app to their customers yet.

I have always had the emerald card this year I decided to go with this app due to they claim you get your taxes 5 days sooner. Well not true in fact my return was deposited per I.R.S. Website March 2, 2022 and I have yet to see it on my card and it’s now the night of March 10th still nothing and no one knows anything and I called 5 days later from when it’s said it was deposited and asked a person with the irs and they confirmed it was sent to them. But no one at this app can find it. They keep transferring me back and forth with this app and h n r block I feel like I am in a game of ping-pong and I’m the freaking ball. I don’t know why this app can’t find my money. This place is a joke and I would never recommend it to anyone. I am very disappointed and I my only step next it to call the BBB. Cause as far as I am concerned they stole my tax return from me.

I tried depositing my ‘money into my account from my other bank account at 3 p.m. on Sat Jan. 29th and I didn’t see nothing on Monday so I wait and I call on Wednesday to see why it was taking so long and the first person said it was “5 business days” he said it would be in my account on Friday( today) the 4th so I wait again and I checked at noon and still nothing?!? I call again the customer support and this time the lady says that it could be today or tmrw?!?! Whatttt?!!? Yeah Spruce seemed sketch from the start because they don’t even let you take money of YOUR this app account and swap it to YOUR other bank accounts only within Spruce ?🤷🏽‍♂️🤔 don’t put your money in here unless you want to wait forever!!

Since I opened the account, everything looks good and excellent, and after I deposited the money in my account, it did not arrive, and then there were several problems, including logging in to the account, and now I cannot change the password, any other information in the account, why? There is no support email or any communication, only one phone number

This apps needs alot of improvement. Imagine you can only use the virtual card for a limited time, even when the physical debit card has not been delivered. I have my funds locked in there i can access it. You people really need to work on these or else your company might have to pack off when no one uses Spruce anymore

I like having the bank account on the side and I’ve been using it since it launched and it has been okay. But it doesn’t like to load half the time and the customer service won’t do anything to be able to help.

Hello pls what is going on with Spruce I linked my Credit Union but it still showing verification in progress and will get back in 2 business days and this has been over a month now .

Have been trying to sign up for online banking- it registers my email and then says my email “failed” and doesn’t let me proceed. When I originally typed in my email, it recognized it’s me- so it’s not an issue of typing the incorrect information.

This is a pretty bad first impression.

BEWARE of accidentally signing up for this app as you file your taxes with H&R Block. Totally a predatory scam.

I log in and get a BLANK WHITE SCREEN. Can’t go any further with this.

I transferred money from one bank into this app. this app received my deposit and and the funds show in my account. However, the debit card is deactivated and it’s like the account is frozen. Reached out to customer service and they told me my account was in the process of being cancelled. They couldn’t tell me why. They said they would send it to the back office and have someone contact me. It’s been days and I haven’t heard a word. My money is still in the account and I can’t do anything with it. They told me my money would be sent back to my issuing bank but it hasn’t. Do not trust them with your money!!!

Love the card ! Only issue is all the retail cash load locations you have listed near me keep saying that loads failed
