Both PENNYMAC and the website account access are nearly useless. Most of the time I log in and it goes to the registration screen asking me to type in my account and loan information. Everything also takes exceptionally long to load when it does work. For such a large company with so many customers you think they would try to make an online account system that wasn’t pure garbage.

This used to be an amazing app. Up until a few months ago it did everything I ever needed it to do and expected it to do. Now, anytime I go to some other part of PENNYMAC it wants to push me out to their web services. If I wanted to go to their website I would bookmark that and never use PENNYMAC . It needs fixing to the place it used to be. If that was done then I would rate it a 5 star.

I’ve never had a problem with PM as a servicer so this review is in no way of them as a servicer.

Update: The below developer responses solidify for me that they have no idea what they’re doing. This is your customer engagement? From bad to worse. / For a financial institution, this has to be the worst app I’ve ever used. The experience is bad. The copy is bad. The user flow is bad. The triggers & confirmations are bad & they LOST my February mortgage payment for almost 3 weeks to boot! I have to take screenshots every month just to feel ok about submitting my mortgage payment to this debt collection company masquerading as a mortgage holder. FIX. YOUR. APP. You look bad & make me afraid to make payments to you every month. Pay for someone to properly flow & develop this. Best practice: Never overhaul your app AND the desktop experience at the same time.

1* too many - I’ve tried completing my registration beginning of last year when I was trying to refinance my house -but I couldn’t get through to their customer service -and their automated service on the phone isn’t much help because when I create a profile It says my social security doesn’t match and my loan numbers incorrect. But - over the useless phone service it says it recognizes my phone number and my socials but wants to read me my numbers - i don’t want to write down the info and lose it later - I want it accessible to me all the time! Apps useless and the websites garbage!

Seriously, how many times do I need to give a 1 star rating before you get it together and improve your app? My app won’t even recognize my correct, valid login information- which works perfectly on your stupid website. The old app was pretty decent but PENNYMAC is a total disaster. Really, really bad customer experience because you don’t have the customer in mind by continuing this abysmal variation of PENNYMAC .

Horrible app, I can’t login to my app or the website. I keep getting sent back to the register new account screen, I tried calling to fix, and have tried all suggestions from these reviews with no fix. I have a strong feeling this company doesn’t exist and I’m sending my money to a shell company, especially since my loan through Veterans United was “sold” to this company without my knowledge, I didn’t find out till I was nearly late on a payment when I finally received a letter. This was months ago and to this day, I have not been able to login.

I understand that we are all having longer wait times, staffing issues, etc but I am beyond frustrated that I have to spend hours each month on the phone and PENNYMAC just to try and pay my mortgage. I just finally got PENNYMAC to recognize me after 3 months and I now see that it’s been down for maintenance for almost a week. I am hoping for an end to this soon so I can pay my mortgage without a fight each month.

It used to be fine. I typically just use it to pay my monthly mortgage, which was great. Then, at one point, after clicking to pay it in PENNYMAC , it changed to where it lead you to the website to pay, which is annoying. And now, for some reason, it seems like it just freezes, and it leads you to nowhere. Can you please just make the ability to pay for the mortgage be available again in PENNYMAC (and not at the website)? It almost makes PENNYMAC pointless to have. Thanks…

When you use PENNYMAC once you will realize that there is really no need for PENNYMAC . Why you might ask. Want to check your statements? It send you to the this app website on your browser. Want to check your amortization schedule? It send you to the this app website on your browser. If you haven’t realized yet everything you do kicks you to a website. For this reason there is no point for PENNYMAC . You might as well open your favorite web browser and logon there.

Things were fine until you made the new app. I saw your note of your update but it still doesn’t recognise my information. Before it was simple to use the only problem is it would take out a payment twice then I had to talk to customer service to get the payment right. Then there is no way to contact IT to help. I had to go back in to send a message. It’s really a disappointment now I have to stop using PENNYMAC and go to the website to get it taken care of. I might as well delete PENNYMAC .

I’ve only had minimal issues paying my mortgage on PENNYMAC in the past but after the latest update, I cannot even pay my payment. I can log in and that’s all. Now I have a missed payment. I’ve been trying to pay for over a week. I guess I will give up and call on Monday but if I remember correctly, there is an extra charge to phone a payment in 😡 also I’ll be hit with late pay fee. This is very frustrating as online bill paying is supposed to make your life easier.

Most of these complaints are about thing un-related to PENNYMAC . However, this really is the worst application I have ever used. It never retains login info, it acts like it is done loading then just stalls, payments never post in a timely manner. Payments same day? Nah too easy. Let’s make them post the next day. But actually payments take another 3 days because we’re this app. I can’t wait until my home loan is sold so I can celebrate not being your customer.

Followed your steps exactly. Exact same issue. this app is still garbage.

I am a user of accessibility screen reader technology on iOS with my iPhone. PENNYMAC is very cumbersome, because when I click on items such as make a payment, or loan activity, it's simply carousels to the next item, and I am not able to access the screen to perform tasks. The only way I'm able to do it is by using the one time payment option on the website. I know there was an update last week, however I'm noticing the same issues, and inconsistent functionality/response from PENNYMAC . Phone service, on the other hand, I was very good, and service personnel were courteous and knowledgeable.

Disappointed with how bad PENNYMAC is. For such a big name PM has become you would think they will have a decent app available for its customers. This is 2022. Nobody now uses their computers or log into a website to do business. I do not want to have to log into your website every time I try to do something within your app. Frustrating is probably the kindest word I can use right now. Fix your app now. Update: Raising it to 2 stars. The developer replied to my review instructing me to unload and reinstall PENNYMAC , stating that with their new app update it should work now. Flash news. It didn’t. Still the same. Pdf files in statements and documents will still not open using my iPhone. Every time I select a subcategory like the Statements and Documents, Message Center, Escrow etc. from the top left drop down three lines, they keep opening in Safari. The good news is that the face recognition seems to be working now! Very disappointing.
Update 3: I figured out how to open pdf. statements using the mobile app. The trick is you have to double tap on the pdf. icon. This will prompt a screen bubble notification on Safari stating: “This site is attempting to open a pop-up window. You have to click “Allow” and then pull down on the screen to reload in order for the pdf. file to open!

Hi team, would like to report a bug as I have been seeing the payment received message on the Home Screen when I open PENNYMAC . Which i expect to have it showing the recent payment record instead of old 4 months message always on PENNYMAC screen post login. Even though the payment gets done the message still stays the old 4 months message. Which I guess needs some update on the coding to pull the recent payment message with that user like me know if the recent posting is successful or not.

The reviews of PENNYMAC are very negative but I think that’s largely people conflating their satisfaction with the mortgage servicer with PENNYMAC itself.

PENNYMAC seems to mostly work fine, except the secure message center which throws a 404 error for me.

The company is not a government sponsored entity (GSE) itself but is the most integrated with the GSEs so you typically get better rates and much more flexibility than with other lenders. Although I myself once had a bad interaction with them before COVID, given that they’re a publicly traded private market company it actually couldn’t be much better especially post-COVID. So the negative reviews are largely unfair and probably just reflect frustration with the mortgage process in general or the fact that many people's mortgages get sold to this app by the original lenders.

Fixing the bugs and reducing phone hold times would be the best improvements. It would also be nice if it helped you reach the same person each time.

Update: Seems they have updated PENNYMAC and you can now finally make payments through PENNYMAC again. Changing to 3 stars due to this fix.

Can no longer use Face ID for sign in or make payments through PENNYMAC . This makes PENNYMAC pretty useless to have. This must’ve been a change they recently made since last month I didn’t have either of these issues. Not sure why PENNYMAC has lost these features but it’s very unfortunate and frustrating.

The developer pulled my previous review with the above title and responded to the error issue, I was having. I did what they recommended and PENNYMAC now works as it should. I have updated my 1 star to a 5 star. I have no other issues with PENNYMAC it works as it should with anything I may need to include research to payment schedules etc

Heads up … in the new update Face ID is fixed once you update go to settings and hit app settings and turn Face ID on, also the payment redirection is now fixed where you can pay in PENNYMAC .

I don’t understand all the bad reviews and ratings. It downloaded instantly, I signed in and paid my bill. Took like 2 minutes if that. So if you are looking into getting PENNYMAC don’t be scared away by the bad reviews

I installed PENNYMAC mid 2019 and was able to use it in April or May I believe, then I did the beta testing for ios 13 and ever since then I’ve not been able to open PENNYMAC . I’ve updated/uninstalled and reinstalled and still have got no where with it. I even just contacted the financial institutions through the message center and they claim it’s working fine. It’s obviously not. Just look at the 1 star ratings. I will most definitely change my review when it’s fixed, but only then.

PENNYMAC was working for me then this month when I tried to process a payment online I received a message that due to the status of my account I was unable to make a payment on PENNYMAC . I called the customer service and they did not take me seriously they said they would make a note on my account. But I cannot speak with their IT group about app troubleshooting. I sent a message on the website and the rep said everything is okay. So they do not see the reason I cannot make a payment even though m account is current with no amount in arrears. If you cannot support PENNYMAC it needs to be sunset and then just tell your customers you are not technologically advanced enough to support an app like their competitors can. Atleast that would be the truth. Then we can go back to mailing checks.

Disappointed customer that does not recommend PENNYMAC .

If PENNYMAC “times out” when trying to pay and you resubmit your payment PENNYMAC will attempt to withdraw double mortgage payments. A significant error if you ask me. Has happened twice now, resulting in hours on the phone between my bank and this app and returned item fees from my bank. I will be only using the this app website for payments as I simply do not trust PENNYMAC anymore. Be wary!!

I’ve had PENNYMAC for about 6 months now and I often have trouble setting up an automatic bill. Two times I’ve had double payments taken out. Puts my checking account into a huge negative balance. Both times I haven’t even set up a second payment to go, it just takes the money. Customer service usually gets the money back about a week later.

PENNYMAC sometimes works on the iPhone SE but sometimes doesn’t. App sometimes can’t detect my account so I need to register again. However, the term & condition page can’t be showed completely on phone so I can’t click “agree” button so PENNYMAC block me to use. PENNYMAC is not stable & unfriendly for customers to use. Suggested this app IT department fully test in various devices before launch for customer use.

PENNYMAC is horrible, plain and simple. My mortgage was sold to this app and god the experience has been horrible. Downloading PENNYMAC and connecting my mortgage to them was a huge headache and took multiple days. App glitches the whole way through. PENNYMAC now won’t let me submit an online payment (just gives me a general error message with no explanation). I have tried 2 days in a row and same issue. I attempted to call them and there are 280 callers in line ahead of me..... sounds like everyone hates this app. Hope and pray that your mortgage is not handed over to them

I used PENNYMAC a few times to make my mortgage payment. The last time I did PENNYMAC was super glitchy. I couldn’t pick the payment date I wanted which should have been available, so I picked the day before. The payment ended up coming out on both days so I paid my mortgage payment twice. It took hours of phone calls and 5 days to get my money back. Penny Mac wasn’t even able to see that the funds came out twice, I had to prove it on a three way call with my bank which took about an hour. I will not be using PENNYMAC again

My mortgage loan was sold to this app so I’m forced to get onto this website to register. First, I tried the regular website and didn’t work. So I downloaded PENNYMAC and still the same issue. It WILL NOT allow me to electronically agree to the disclosures so I cannot register. When I scroll to the bottom, it ends at #9, termination info, and stops. It will it go further so I can’t “agree” and finish registering. How frustrating is this. So I’m forced to go onto a computer which I don’t have at home since everything I do is on my smartphone. Please fix this.

Nice app with easy controls and information is laid out well. However, one glaring defect is there’s no ability to select a payment of anything other than your normal monthly payment. Please add the ability to pay extra!

I am unable to sign into PENNYMAC . Granted, I’m on an iPad and this doesn’t look as though it’s designed for iPad at all. Being able to do so would certainly change my review. Until I am able to use it, this is all I can give.

Edit: after a response from the developer, I was able to make it into PENNYMAC . The features are decently thought out and it is certainly useable. I think the next step is giving it capabilities for iPad.

It appears PENNYMAC is better. Lacks ability to add principal, makes you go to the website login anyhow.

Why not allow other optional payment like adding escrow or principal in PENNYMAC ?

Been with Pennymack for several years and I always receive excellent customer service that is quick and friendly. PENNYMAC is great with nice features similar to the online website. Maybe fewer pop up site

I just started using PENNYMAC, after years of logging into the mobile site to pay my mortgage every month. It is everything I could ask for. Login was simple, and all my information was right there! The user interface is simple and intuitive. PENNYMAC is a simple elegant way to do one thing. And it gets it perfect. I’ll almost enjoy paying my mortgage now... but really, who enjoys that.
Thanks this app for making this part of my life such a breeze!

Old review: I have been using PENNYMAC since March 2019 and it’s worked great!! But just upgraded my phone to the new 11 Pro on iOS 13 and it won’t open. Had to use Safari, which a little inconvenient, but manageable. I love the simplicity of PENNYMAC and the information details it shows, just wish it didn’t stop working :(. Please update if need be and I’ll definitely change my review.

Ps: I have an old phone still on ios11 and PENNYMAC works beautifully.

I just downloaded PENNYMAC and am impressed so far. All the information about my loan is easily accessible. PENNYMAC seems much more organized and easier to use compared to the website. I haven’t tried to make a payment yet but if it doesn’t work I’ll be sure to update my review. I’m pretty impressed so far with the functionality of PENNYMAC !
