🏷️ About:
The Snapshot app is available to everyone, even if you’re not a Progressive policyholder.
For policyholders: People who’ve already purchased a Progressive insurance policy and enrolled in Snapshot with the mobile app (not the plug-in device) can use it to complete their Snapshot driving period.
Gave it a trial run. It said I had “7 events - hard braking” but the trip details only show 3. Funny enough, I actually had ONE where a car (no signal) cut me off so they wouldn’t miss a turn and THAT one actually didn’t register. One of my “hard braking events” supposedly occurred when I gingerly parked my car in a cramped parking lot and another during the slowest roll through an extremely busy construction zone. Definitely seems like a scam to raise your rates.
Update: I literally NEVER use or so much as touch my phone when I drive. I do however have teenage daughters that take turns picking songs on my phone while it’s using Apple CarPlay. There’s no way to change this data without dismissing the entire event as if you were a passenger. Also there’s now an extra trip showing during a time both me and my phone did not leave the house because my whole family had COVID. Despite the threatening “you must keep Snapshot open in the background” messages or whatever, this app managed to record allll of this ^^ regardless. Anyway, my update is that it’s still a scam. I’m deleting and will gladly pay the whole like $11 dollars it had knocked off our policy. Hope my rates don’t go up even more based on the few trips they fabricated/“collected data” from. If you’re thinking of signing up, don’t. Just have Credit Karma or Chime pull better rates elsewhere instead.
Scam to get you into Progressive

by Tarin.tanvir
Snapshot and its 10% initial discount is just a scam to get you into Progressive insurance. I just used it for several months and had an A+ for my driving. They sent me an email saying I’ll be getting $191 discount starting from my next 6 months period. They indeed gave me $191 discount but after raising my rate by $206. They raised the premium to cover the “discount” they promised. So, basically I’m not getting any discount. There were no reason to raise my premium as I didn’t have any accidents or any claims, did not move my residence, did not add any drivers to my insurance, did not change my car, did not receive any traffic violations or citation.
The only thing changed was the discount they are offering me for safe driving.
Snapshot is very sensitive when counting hard break and fast acceleration. If you have one hard break it will count like 5 hard breaks. I had been driving like my grandpa to get this discount. If they give you discount, they will raise your premium to make it even or in my case I’ll be paying $13 more than I used to after getting the discount.
I wouldn’t recommend anyone to sign up for this scam. It’ll be a complete waste of time. Also, Snapshot drain your battery very fast. You’ll be charging your phone 5-6 times a day.
Too many false positives on “phone usage”
2022-07-25
by Lester358
Application is not distinguish between hands-free BT and headset usage. Using GPS for direction, incoming calls, texts, emails even if not answered counts toward phone usage. Giving the fact that using headset now is illegal Snapshot falsely creates record of illegal activity. Even if car stopped and engine off and you make call it flagged as “usage” originally i requested the dongle, but they told me that Virginia required Snapshot . Well, I am using it for a month already, zero hard brakes, zero accelerations and zero after midnight, but will have to opt-out because of deficient app. Update: talked to Progressive on how app reported on events “phone usage”. We went through all 5 events, date and time, and all reported “phone in hand” even though 2 calls were on BT, one call was inside parked car with engine off, one was incoming routed to the voice mail, and one was incoming text that I looked after stopped. Basically false reporting as “distracted driving”. I immediately opted out and will return original discount, no matter how accurately one is driving, “distracted driving” surpass it all in all evaluations.
Garbage app

Hey! Do you want to be falsely judged, graded on that judgment and the have to pay extra on your insurance for it? Well than this is Snapshot for you!!!
Snapshot has put me as the passenger at time when I’m driving, doesn’t count half my trips, and will say I was using my phone while driving when I’m not. Used to use my phone as a GPS and was told that’s why it said I was using my phone while driving, (not, yeah our app made a mistake), so I put it in my pocket and guess what! It still will say I’m using my phone! Also, its said that I hard brakes 4 times waiting for the same light. Don’t know how that happens. And of course, it still doesn’t count little of 40 percent of my drives (compared it to the data on my Hum device)
Garbage app!!!! Switch companies or drop the this app before it’s too late!!!
Progressive uses the data from Snapshot to calculate your insurance payment. So you imagine Snapshot is fairly accurate. Unfortunately NO. I used Snapshot for about three months. Five out of ten trips were not recorded. Even for the recorded ones, it missed part of the trips. Or even after you left the car, it still says you are in the car. It produces wrong data, not just inaccurate. I was out of the country for nearly three months, during which I called and let progressive know about this. However, they still opted me out. And then I got a $175 increase on renewal. I didn’t have any new tickets or accidents. The Rep told me that the increase was based on data collected from this app. If you are using Snapshot, you may be paying hundreds dollars extra for the wrong data collected by this app.
WARNING DO NOT DOWNLOAD

Snapshot will 100% raise your rate no matter how slow or safe you drive! I drive a Tesla that drives perfectly and I constantly received marks for hard braking and fast acceleration! I started to monitor Snapshot while driving and this thing will flag at the slightest bit of braking or acceleration! Just slightly speeding up to merge into traffic will flag you! My rate increased from $450-$850 for my 6 month premium! It takes 6 months to grade you on Snapshot . It gave me a C and said “Congrats you received a $48 discount!” Then when my policy came up to renew they said yeah you received a discount but also we raised your rate because of your this app score! DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS. It’s a ploy to raise your rates without you having an accident or anything. This is a business using tech to try and say there’s a reason to raise your rate. Also FYI I’ve had ZERO ACCIDENTS and am 34 years old. You’ve been warned!
What is this thing doing?

I would have left feedback on Snapshot but that doesn’t work either. This thing will say that I had 2 hard stops (when I didn’t) and not even show on the map where it says I did it (that’s because I didn’t). It keeps doing it; making up hard stops. I’ve had this app before and it used to be more accurate then this. Someone changed something within the last 2 years and now it randomly makes up hard stops and doesn’t show where it claims you did it. Which will effect your overall grade. Which effects your overall coverage price. Pretty convenient glitch, if you ask me. If you are marketing a technology it better work like you claim it does. So please fix it!
Faulty

by Hellotan
I would recommend you not risk the “possible discount,” you “might,” get by using Snapshot. Firstly Snapshot needs to be running in the background at all times, and it drains your phone battery. Secondly, Snapshot is faulty. For instance, today I was driving in the left lane of a two lane road and a driver decides to cut in front of me and stop instead of stopping in the shoulder. I have to brake hard to avoid hitter her. Ok fine. That should count as me having to hit my brakes hard. But instead it said I hit my brakes hard 5 times. When I look at the location on my map where it tracked the event it’s all in the same place. Clearly this should be one incident. Already I’m angry that I have to be faulted because of someone else’s bad driving but to count one incident as five is preposterous. I’ll be calling progressive and cancelling this plan today.
False phone usage flag after finishing trip
2023-01-31
by Viet-Thoa
I used the Progressive snap shot app a few times. So far it can detects my trip and braking correctly. However, Snapshot incorrectly detects cell phone usage. If you use cell phone right after or few minutes or 15 minutes after completing trip, Snapshot will flag you as using cell phone during trip. I hope that Progressive would modify app to allow user to mark trip as completed. Some other users also brought up this issue. So, my guess is to use cell phone after trip, user probably may have to wait at least 20 minutes or longer after trip to avoid being flagged as using cell phone during trip. If you happy with current premium, do not use Snapshot .
As others have said, Snapshot erroneously records phone usage. It regularly says I’ve used my phone when it hasn’t been touched for the entire drive. I’ve contacted progressive a couple of times about this issue. The most recent time they told me if the phone moves it could count as usage. So basically if it slides around a little in the charging area of my car, that counts as usage. It is also extremely sensitive about the hard breaks issue and then gives condescending advice about slowing down at a stop light. Hello, I’m not slamming on my breaks when I get to a red light. I’m slamming the breaks when some idiot cuts me off! Or once when I stopped for a pedestrian who walked out into a crosswalk. I guess Snapshot would prefer I ran him down. All in all I regret signing up for this thing. Especially if I don’t end up getting a discount. It is not worth the hassle.
Inaccurate app!

by MysticPerihery
Snapshot cannot honestly tell the difference between hard braking and regular braking, and they need to program Snapshot for a better “judgment call” on what true hard braking is. Not once have I ever hard-braked on Snapshot, but in one trip they had me down as having 4 hard-braking episodes in 2 areas. Better for a human to be in the car with you, “judging” your driving ability than Snapshot! I guess they wanna make it hard for people to get a discount “honestly”....so why even try for it when you’re already “defeated”. Plus, we live in a day and age where it’s the others around us that we have to look out for, because of their crazy driving, and we are on the defensive end trying to keep from getting hit. Oh well, Snapshot will still make it your fault for hard-braking or swerving because of trying to avoid an accident WE didn’t cause. WE have to avoid idiot drivers out there who seemingly got their license from a Cracker Jack box! Anyway, final verdict on Snapshot......flawed and very inaccurate!
Continues to track when not driving
2023-05-04
by Hes_a_joke
If you make a short stop somewhere, it’ll continue to track as if you didn’t stop. I frequently make short stops at coffee shops or other places and if I use Apple Pay for that, it counts it as me being on my phone, but I won’t be driving at that point. It’s just kind of annoying that Snapshot doesn’t see that your stopped at a coffee place or something. It also continues to track phone use for a little bit after you’ve ended your drive. Like when I get out of my car to go into my house, Snapshot will still have the notification that I’m driving, but I’ve already parked locked my car and went inside my house. Other than that, Snapshot tracks driving patterns really accurately.
Not great

by Rag57
I haven’t experienced any of the issues others have with it not tracking trips (sometimes, but usually when my battery is low, so I just assumed it was that), but the number of drives I need to make to get my discount seems very high. I’ve taken over 300 trips according to Snapshot and my score still isn’t finalized. I live in a small city and drive to work, gym, and the grocery store- not a lot of room for extra trips, especially in a pandemic. I have had issues with it logging hard brakes when I have not, no idea how to fix that unless they recalibrate Snapshot . I had the Esurance app before this and it was way better; showed me more detail, could edit trips easier, told me my discount after 25 trips and my progress towards increasing that discount. I only got progressive instead because I moved and the rate was much lower. I’ll probably be switching when my plan is up for renewal because Snapshot is so frustrating
A few issues to address

by MBZ300D
Snapshot generally seems to work well. It doesn’t kill my battery and most of the time I don’t see events in my trips. I’ve never had an accident or a ticket in 15 years driving, so that makes sense. When I do get an event, however, it often counts one “hard brake” as 3-5 events but only shows one dot on the map. It also records “phone use” events on every few drives even when my phone is in my pocket the entire time I’m driving. I don’t have CarPlay, so it can’t be related to using a hands free device. This means my grade is a “C+” and Snapshot says I need to “keep working toward a discount”.
Progressive needs to work a bit on the accuracy for sure.
I don’t know if Snapshot will have an effect on my insurance rate, but the phone usage is inaccurate. I’ve read that Bluetooth and apple play are counted against other users. I haven’t had that issue with anything coming through my Bluetooth. BUT, I can’t actively use GPS. I can have it speak to me through Bluetooth but I am not able to have the map up at all. If my phone is unlocked with my gps app actively open, Snapshot thinks my phone is in hand and distracting me. I have a stand fo my phone that is eye level on my dashboard, but I can’t view the map or else it considers it phone use. Also, if my car is running but I’m in park or even AFTER I’ve shut my car engine off(for a few minutes), it counts as phone usage. I don’t text and drive, I typically don’t answer calls even though it comes through on Bluetooth, and I don’t play games/scroll through social media while I’m driving. My score has only dropped to a B+ but I feel it’s extremely inaccurate as I am not distracted by my phone. It’s a great idea and it does make it convenient if it will actually help with a discount, but the inaccuracies are frustrating and I hope it won’t raise my insurance rates with false information.
Apple CarPlay and general phone use not good
2023-09-07
by NiqueAG
I never use my phone while driving, but I do use Apple CarPlay or Bluetooth to talk if I get a phone call. Snapshot counts this as phone use, which to me seems silly. The whole reason for those features, is to promote safe driving. Why would I get dinged then? There needs to be a way to differentiate from when Apple CarPlay/Bluetooth is being used, versus when the phone is physically in my hands and I’m being irresponsible. Snapshot also says I’m using my phone when I’ve gotten to my destination, have put the car in park, and take a look at my phone. I do this a lot when I get to work. If I’m early, I’ll hang out in my car, play on my phone, and chill before going in. It’s crazy that I might get dinged or my score drops because of that. There should maybe be an option to say that you’ve parked and are at a safe location.
Secure your phone!

by Meeeeetoooo
So far, it’s not too bad. Not as sensitive as “another co’s” pilot app when it comes to hard braking. However, we have discovered that your phone MUST be secured before you drive. Do NOT put it in a cup holder or anywhere it may shift. That will register as a hard brake. Have not had any other mentioned issues like battery drain, phone use mistakes, or app tech issues. Yet. Fingers crossed. These reviews are making me nervous.
Not sure about this late night business though… doesn’t that penalize ppl who don’t work normal hours? I mean, there is hardly another car on the road at 3am around here. Usually just the police.
The 1-2 star people are just bad drivers.

by Strong097
Snapshot is quite accurate. The only complaint is when it shows phone usage but really I was using my Apple car play. It also says using your phone while driving doesn’t effect your score. So far it has logged every single trip and I like to look at Snapshot for my score each day. Usually getting 1 hard brakes a day. When I’m driving and I stop harder than normal for any reason that the road throws at you. It will count as a hard brakes and I know this. Some people hard brake for every stop and think it’s normal, it’s not. If you tailgate, don’t get Snapshot lol. Don’t bash Snapshot because of YOU’RE bad driving.
Bias
2023-12-11
by Alkdur
If I was a lawyer I would sue progressive for this application, because the way it rank your driving record is awful, unfair and bias to the insurance company. It will count the trip that you did bad actions and list it as a driver and those who you did a perfect driving record within they will be like it seems like you weren’t a driver at this trip. If in the weekend you went out late, they will be like late trips will impact your driving record. If you answered your phone and it was linked to the car, they will count it as using your phone while your driving. I’m leaving the company to another insurance company because of Snapshot
I have the IPhone12 pro and am not able to get past it asking me to turn on background app refresh. When you go into settings it does not allow you to adjust as it is set to on and you can’t change that. Will not track your trips or anything. You can’t get past the settings screen on it.
App is Useless and Inaccurate
2024-12-18
by JasonAsher
App was working fine on my iPhone XS Max, but after upgrading to the iPhone 11 Pro Max, it crashed every single time I try to launch it and select my vehicle. Luckily, uninstalling and reinstalling worked for me, but I see others aren’t so lucky.
One issue is that, even when you’re stopped at a red light, or parked in your own garage at home at the end of your trip, if you pick up your phone and unlock the screen, it logs phone usage. Same if a passenger in your car wants to use your phone for music selection or looking something up. Although they claim it doesn’t affect rates, I’d wager it actually does, and likely to a large degree.
The biggest frustration, though, is that it logs hard brakes CONSTANTLY, even when you’re not braking hard. My car has smart cruise control that will speed up or slow down on its own. When the car needs to slow down behind other traffic slowing down, BOOM “hard brake.” If someone pulls in front of me from another lane, and happens to be too close and not going fast enough, my car slows down, BOOM “hard brakes.” Just slowing down on my own at traffic lights and stop signs often gives hard brakes.
Snapshot is now telling me I’m headed for a rate increase, so now I’m having to shop for new insurance before this thing jacks my rates. Garbage app!!
It’d be great if it worked...

by Hollyewhite
I’m a developer, and I work with native devices. Snapshot is crashing immediately after you select the vehicle since the latest iOS update.
I wouldn’t be upset but Progressive just sent me an email threatening to remove my discount if I didn’t use Snapshot or call them. As much as I’d love to waste my time (definitely tweeted support about this and they told me to call) calling to go through numerous levels of support to tell you that your app is broke, I’d rather not have to explain it to several levels of support.
And nah, don’t want that device in my car again. It’s inaccurate, invasive and embarrassing. I’d rather find another insurance company that spends money on quality developers. The team could have prevented this, been prepared... doesn’t make me feel like Progressive is prepared to cover me.

Snapshot is really something else. I work the grave yard shift and I’m being penalized for it. When my gps is running and my screen goes dark, Snapshot counts me going back to Snapshot as a phone use. They say that a phone use isn’t reflected on the score but I don’t believe it. As for the hard brakes, if you’re not going 5 miles an hour and you don’t use your pinky toe then it will count as a dam hard stop. I live in jersey ( home of the short stops & cut offs) and because of others poor choices my performance is being effected. Everything is considered a fast acceleration if you put your foot on the gas once the light turns green. It’s a lose lose situation. It’s like they made Snapshot to discredit drivers and the plug in is probably worse. I’ll be looking for new insurance soon because progressive is not cutting it. I doubt any other insurance is this extra smfh.
Avoid this unless you always hinder the flow of traffic
2024-12-18
by Ermadragon
Most of my driving to and from work is on a highway. this app expects you to pull onto a fast highway slowly and make everyone coming up behind you to brake and cause congestion and potential accidents. It also expects you to coast to a stop at changing lights on this swift highway so you stop after the intersection and run the red. Oh sorry officer- my this app app wants me to brake slower- not my fault I got T-boned- those drivers should have merely taken their foot off the brake and not applied any acceleration from their stop.
My choice will be to dump this insurance as soon as possible. It should be noted that my driving record is fairly clean. One accident from black ice 20 years ago and no tickets since longer than that when I was a teenager. 🤷🏻♀️ but it’s the fast acceleration and hard braking that makes all the difference.
I won’t repeat the things that others have said. However I’ve noticed that it continues to take points for a hard stop on freeway exits. As well as take points for fast acceleration on freeway entrances. I think that both of those should be exempt from fast starts and stops unless you have a hard stop on a freeway entrance and a fast acceleration on the freeway exit. Those could both definitely cause accidents and they would both mean that the driver was not being safe. But fast acceleration on an entrance and hard stops on an exit are almost a given depending on traffic. They can be avoided but it’s not likely. That among the other things that people have mentioned are the reasons why Snapshot gets one star. If an app is going to affect how much I pay monthly on insurance, I would think that it would be put together a lot better than what it is.
Hard brakes
2024-12-18
by Vans R Cool Still
There is no accurate readings on the “hard brake” indication . There will be times when I come to a stop with normal speed deceleration and gliding into a complete stop but shows as if I had a hard brake. There should be a description that explains what causes a hard brake. My opinion for a hard brake is noticing a stop light a last minute or having to abruptly stop because a car stopped. Which that also is picky if someone else’s not paying attention and they stop for not paying attention to the person in front causes that butterfly effect where you have to stop. However, I know when I do brake hard. Not sure. I believe clear descriptions on what causes for hard brakes would be great. My reason for low rating is I’m in a minivan. I can’t hard brake a van it’s to heavy to rely on an immediate brake to much momentum in those bad boys you gotta pump those brakes early to make sure you stop.
Worst app- don’t get this app- driver illusion
2024-12-18
by I Hate Snapshot
I do not recommend any driver to take Snapshot for discount. This is just an illusion Progressive creates for driver saying Snapshot will monitor your driving habit and then you get discount. Don't get into it, they are just misleading you. They did the same to me and I used Snapshot . During that period I drove carefully hoping to get discount. Even if you brake very slowly in red light, it records as hard brake. When you accelerate to merge to highway it records as high acceleration. Dude do you want me to merge into highway with 40 mph speed?? How realistic is it? Wont any vehicle behind me with 65 mph end up hitting me? And any time you are not a driver you need to go to app and update that you are a passenger- another headache. Snapshot simply increased my insurance on basis of my driving habit that it recorded. I hate Snapshot, so deleted it finally.
Inaccurate

I just got Snapshot and already I don’t like it. I am new to Snapshot and have called Progress several times to try to figure out how to work it. For example I called to find out how to let Snapshot know when I am not driving. The representative told me “ oh it should automatically know” and continued to explain that I can just pause the trip, and talked me through how to pause the trip. Pausing a trip is to my knowledge is for the entire day sometimes more. I found that to be strange that you couldn't indicate that your not the driver for a trip. The next day I decided to play around with it and discovered the button on the top left allows you to indicate when your not driving or ride sharing etc. Because I’m still learning I’m not sure if you can only do this after the trip is over. Lastly Snapshot is not accurate. My issue is that Snapshot indicates that I had an event but when I click the trip each section says zero. I really would like Snapshot to be accurate despite my driver status especially if I’m going to be held responsible. I am going to call progressive one last time hopefully someone can explain what’s happening to me, if not I’m deleting Snapshot .
I wish I could go back.

Snapshot makes me so mad! You have less than 7 days to go and check your driving. And if you were a passenger, and use your phone, or the actual driver who is driving you is not that good, you get marked for it. There’s been so many times where I was NOT the driver, and got marked for stuff I didn’t do! I don’t regularly use Snapshot , and honestly forget that I have Snapshot 98% of the time! I am a great driver. But it’s not fair that my score will potentially drop for trips that I didn’t even drive?!? I hope someone can get back to me so I can fix this? Because boy this really stresses me out. I’m going to set nightly alarms to check Snapshot and mark the times I was not driving. Because this is ridiculous and so stressful.
It seems to have potential for some good advice on tips, but it certainly does not give a true accounting of the driving & if a person is or is NOT on the cell phone. I have Snapshot . Consistently rating me off on hard braking which I never do! If I did I would know that I did it & it would have been for a reason. But it hasn’t happened. My car & breaks are in good mechanical working condition. No issues. I even had them checked after this & was told that nothing is wrong & when other passengers are in the car, they do not notice a breaking issue??? Yet Snapshot keeps saying there is!! It’s so in sane!!! If GPS is on it say there is phone use. If phone ring even if it’s ignored & not answering it says phone use?? If I try to adjust when I’m not driving my score goes down when I haven’t done anything wrong??? Snapshot just makes no sense to me. I’m feeling as if it’s going to be an excuse to charge me more when I’m not doing anything wrong!! Bugs need to be worked out on this before I trust that this is trusted.
Can’t Categorize Properly
2024-12-18
by CaptainKTV
I have no problem with Snapshot unfairly judging my driving. My real problem is that I RARELY drive - maybe one round trip per week - and it categorizes every time I’m in an Uber or a bus or a friend’s car as me being the driver. I know I have the opportunity to re-categorize it, but I often forget Snapshot is running in the background and don’t remember to do it until a week later. At that point it tells me the trip is “too old to categorize.” It would seem a trip becomes too old after only 5 days. I assume they think this helps keep the information accurate because some people might forget whether they were driving or not. However, because I rarely drive, I have absolutely no problem remembering when it was me behind the wheel and when it wasn’t. As a result of this, I have about 10 “hard brakes” that weren’t actually me, and about 100 “phone uses” from times when I was the passenger (after having Snapshot for only 2 weeks). At the very least, Snapshot should send a notification prompting you to categorize drives before they become to old. But ideally, they would never become too old.
It’s worth of trying out
2024-12-18
by 1aibohphobia1
The specific categories that Snapshot is recording or monitoring don’t seem to be very good descriptors of good or bad driving. They also do not accurately record the information. I don’t want my rates set based upon inaccurate info how does my good driving benefit me then? It doesn’t it only benefits them because I am driving more carefully yet they are charging me the same price as if I were not using Snapshot at all. They need to set up a concrete system where Snapshot is recording the correct info and a reward system that we can see before we get a policy. Example if a policy holder has fewer than 500 hard breaking situations a month there is a 10% break on their policy that month or for every min of phone usage they lose .001% off any % reduction they have earned. Those numbers are for explanation only real numbers would need research behind them. The first and more important issue is the accuracy of Snapshot and the categories that are monitored. They need to be more accurate if you are going to make any financial base decisions about any policy holders account.

I feel Snapshot is pretty fair and is definitely a good representation of how you drive I first got it and read a ton of reviews and was nervous about being scored unfairly but I feel like everyone who is complaining about the hard breaks probably are at fault for the breaks being slammed for going way to fast and I know that some situations are like that at times but not every single day and I live in Atlanta where traffic is terrible almost everyday and people do sudden sharp turns in front of you but my real complaint about Snapshot is it drains my battery entirely too much I will barely use my phone in some days and me just going on a 30 min drive will drain my phone to almost 60 and that’s just the beginning of the day. That’s a major problem especially when I have to be out all day and can’t charge my phone. Please progressive fix this because I want to keep Snapshot and everything but I can’t keep my phone dying every 4 hours. Other than that I feel Snapshot is pretty fair on how it rates and scores you just ease up on the driver in front of you and be mindful of others around and it won’t score you so harshly

First off, let me say that I rarely(if ever) take the time to write reviews about ANYTHING these days, but felt compelled to after reading all of the “negativity” about Snapshot....I firmly believe that most of the drivers on the road today are POOR drivers who take “things for granted” when they get behind the wheel everyday....Sure, I had my share of “Hard Brakes” show up from time to time, but every time I got one I deserved it....I used to have a bit of a “lead foot” in the past that caused me to hit the brakes a little hard to slow down for a stop light or when someone cut in front of me... But Snapshot actually helped me cure that somewhat, because you think about it more....Also, ALOT of people complained about they’re batteries on they’re phones draining because of Snapshot ...These people are either NOT very intelligent, or they just own a cheap phone....you don’t even have to have Snapshot running in the “background” for it to work...! You just download it onto your phone, and it automatically logs your information EVEN IF YOUR PHONE IS OFF...! Therefore, NO BATTERY DRAIN....I have an aging iPhone 6+ and Snapshot DOES NOT DRAIN A FRACTION OF MY POWER...! In a short summary, I will say GET Snapshot if you want to save money on your insurance (It took $40 a month off my policy) And ignore all those other reviews, these people are simply BAD DRIVERS....😉 Thanks Progressive!!
I feel like there are so many bad reviews that I need to include my input. I've had Snapshot for almost 6 months now and haven't had many issues at all, and it's easy to use. It connects to my Bluetooth, I put it in the little slot next to my cup holder, and go. The trips log accurately, and if you aren't the one driving for a trip that's logged, all you have to do is change yourself to the "passenger" afterwards. Easy. Done. I'm only 22, so I'm not the best driver, but Snapshot is extremely fair when it comes to logging for hard brakes or fast acceleration. I do drive a Jeep wrangler, so obviously both of those things are a bit harder to do anyway since I can't really stop/ speed up all too fast. If you're on your phone, yes it will mark it as an "event", but I talked to my agent and phone use really does not affect your score considering we use it for navigation, music, etc. Also, if you do have any issues, just call your agent. They've fixed a few quirks for me without a problem, for instance turning off the tracking and not being able to turn it back on. Again though, just call them if something isn't right lol. Snapshot works however you want it too. Stop being difficult and Snapshot will too..or you can just drive better and have common sense 🤷🏻♀️ (I have an iPhone Xs Max for anyone who thinks it might just be their phone that's "not working")
