BeerTasting is all but impossible to use. BeerTasting was promoted all over a cool gift I received call the Beer Advent Calendar which provides one craft German beer each day of December. Neat! The promotion for BeerTasting indicated that you could scan a label, learn about that beer, make notes, and basically access info on 115,000 different beers. Sounded really great. So please fix BeerTasting and I’ll fix this review. Currently, it’s not possible to register, verify an email address, access beer i formation, etc. instead of info on 115,000 beers, BeerTasting returns “No Data Available”.

Ok Beer App guys... you’re on to something here. Sooo close! Please polish BeerTasting , make it work, and be the beer heroes we know you are.

I was given a beer advent calendar and BeerTasting was advertised all over the outside to offer additional information on the beers and to be able to rate your experience with the beers. I was initially pretty excited to give it a try. The registration process is so riddled with issues I haven’t even been able to experience the other issues mentioned in reviews. I wish I could give 0 stars to BeerTasting, it’s been a huge disappointment and a waste of 10 minutes. I won’t waste anymore time trying to get this clearly broken app to work. If the developers don’t care, why should anyone else?

Quite simply, BeerTasting does not function. I was so looking forward to beer tasting my beer advent calendar with tasting notes and info about the beer and brewery, as promised. I’ve tried every possible way of getting “in” allowed. Setting up an account. Changing password. Using Google or FB logins. All errors. Can’t even access “collections” to see beer info, even though that option appears to be available without signing in. Another error message, cannot load, etc.. How disappointing, but I’ll be the first in line to try again when this gets fixed and BeerTasting is operational!

I should have trusted the 1.7 star App Store rating before wasting my time downloading. The profile creation didn’t work, it says it can’t send me a verification email, the beer label scanner only sort of works, and then when I tried to review the first beer in the advent calendar it said it couldn’t save. I force quit BeerTasting to see if that made any difference and it didn’t. It says I have 1 beer reviewed but when I click it BeerTasting just spins. Going back to Untapped

I downloaded BeerTasting when I got the Advent Calendar last year, as I’m sure we all did! It was a lot of fun snapping the pic of the bottle (or can) and having BeerTasting tell me what beer I was drinking! Rating was easy and the part about leaving notes was the best so I knew which ones that I REALLY liked! I’ve used it a few times after finishing the calendar but alas, I’m back to drinking boring beer which isn’t on BeerTasting .

BeerTasting is a good accompaniment to the advent calendar. Sure, there could be more information on the beer, but I find it enjoyable to look through the information while drinking the beer. BeerTasting has functioned as advertised for me. I had to login to access everything, but it was easy to do this with a Facebook login. I don’t plan on keeping BeerTasting once I finish the calendar, but I’m sure I will be downloading it again next year.

App works GREAT!! And you can scan all sorts of beer labels outside of the Christmas pack. I don’t know what issues these other people have had but I have had a flawless experience and BeerTasting seems to work on almost any beer I scan! Really it’s a great concept and I hope it get more support though time.

App is garbage. Multiple errors when trying to create an account. Finally after an hour received a confirmation email. Clicked to confirm account and BeerTasting crashed. Tried again and requested another confirmation email. Clocked the link and it crashed. Tried using the scanning function and most of the beers don’t even show up. A waste of time and technology

So, we all got the beer advent calendar and saw this super cool way to interact with it through BeerTasting , right? And how you can snap pics of pretty much any beer to build your own collection of rankings. Tough luck - BeerTasting doesn’t work. Like at all. No info loads on the Home Screen, taking pics of the beer does nothing. I’m sure the beer makers are thrilled to partner with this completely useless app!

Got a late start on my calendar. Was bummed when I saw a lot of 1 star reviews, but BeerTasting seems to work flawlessly for me. Account creation was easy and not required. Let me simply take photo of label and read notes and reviews

Tried loading this to get more information on the beer in my advent Calendar. Since it was advertised on the box thought I’d try it. Worst app ever. Could barely register an email address and it would not accept any user name. Mind you no requirements for said name were offered either. Developers/publishers don’t seem to want you to use their product.... so I won’t.

Super excited to try BeerTasting and enjoy my first beer but it won’t even let me create a login. Tried several times with FB and then just creating one from scratch and I get a “ could not create user, please try again” message. Thought this was going to be a cool experience with a beer app but from seeing other reviews BeerTasting seems to have failed.

There are a number of sloppy aspects to BeerTasting, which I would overlook, except the “beer lookup” scanning only works about 10 percent of the time. All the good aspects of BeerTasting revolve around looking up what beer I’m drinking, see some information about it, and to rate it. But since the scanning/lookup function doesn’t work most of the time, it’s a pointless app to have.

We like this in our house. It’s a beer version of Vivino. We haven’t had the problems others have had. Must have been updated but ... whatever the case is ... this is a decent app for cerevisaphiles.

Once you scan a beer or not the camera access keeps capturing. This is extremely offensive. It also takes two pictures when you scan. Meaning it could be taking one from the back and the front. Be careful people

Useless. Does not read the labels correctly. Gave up after scanning 2 UPC codes and both times came up with Becks lemon or something- not even close. Sorry but Developer needs to be replaced. There is and has been an issue and developer does not seem to care to rework the issue. I’d suggest deleting BeerTasting and just googling for reviews.

Was surprised and quite excited to receive the Brewers Advent Calendar this morning. Much to my disappointment, BeerTasting seems to have several bugs. Problems creating an account, beer capture/lookup doesn’t work. In fact, unfortunately, nothing seems to work. Love the concept, but I guess I’ll stick with Beer Advocate to learn more about these brews.

I just downloaded BeerTasting and am enjoying the beer in my beer advent calendar. I wanted more information on the beer I was consuming and unfortunately could not get any information from BeerTasting . BeerTasting is useless. Don’t waste your time downloading it and creating an account. You are just giving away your email address to who knows. Use Google instead.

The only thing that point me towards BeerTasting was a beer advent calendar that my wife bought me at Costco and unfortunately it doesn’t seem to work. BeerTasting doesn’t let me create a “profile” which is needed for BeerTasting to function at its fullest. I’ll be sticking with BeerAdvocate.

Very cool idea and it would be a lot of fun. I know the developers of the product had worked hard to make this work. However BeerTasting does not. The scanner doesn’t work with the beers, it does not store comments at all and often loses ratings.
Great idea hopefully they can get it to work for next year.

Not quite worthless but close. I downloaded BeerTasting , played wit it for 10 minutes, and then deleted it. There are many much better apps if you want to find out more about each beer. Try Untappd or beer advocate which are much better.

Got the Advent Calendar like everyone else. Today is the first day of Advent. App is not doing anything. Cannot create account. Cannot load beers. Will not recognize my first beer. Completely, totally worthless. Like forgetting your passport on your first flight out of the country. Amateurs.

12/06 update. Developers, thanks for reaching out but you still don’t understand the issue which is a lack of information on the beers.

Deleted BeerTasting . Not worth my time.

Per the advent calendar box, “..download BeerTasting for detailed information about all the beers in the box”.
For the first three, all BeerTasting says is the name of the beer and the brewery name. Not even close to being detailed information.

App does not load content or allow for search. It doesn’t even show “no results found”, the pages simply don’t load.

Nonfunctional app without creating an account. Then you go to create an account and can’t. At least I have this beer in my hand to soothe me.

I went to BeerTasting and entered my information. It gave no warnings to indicate my information was incorrect, but whenever I hit ‘register now’ nothing happens...
