I have been extremely frustrated and unhappy with PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading. Almost every day it freezes, does doesn’t keep the current option chain in memory which necessitates it being reset to the current in the money price. It’s freezes sometimes in the option change chains and causes me not to be able to see the option prices. It’s sometimes just completely kicks me out. I’ve lost a great deal of money because of these problems. I’ve really liked the E*TRADE format but PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading is just so disappointing to use and 90% of my trading is done through the phone. This is an iPhone and I had the same problems with the E*TRADE power app with iPhone 7 and this is an iPhone 11. I have reinstalled PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading multiple times and reset all of the settings to the best of my ability. The limit order and the market order cannot be set except on the limit. I have to change it to market. I just am so frustrated with PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading and I am seriously considering going to a different company because it is so friggin unreliable. Etrade get your act together and fix this because you’re gonna lose money and I’ve already lost money.

I have an iPhone 11 with up to date software and 256 GB and yet even with all other apps closed and running on my business WiFi PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading lags and occasionally I have to close PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading manually and re-login. Also sometimes it will show incorrect real time quotes from hours before but at the current time. Very disappointed and I do not recommend E*TRADE to anyone. Besides the fees they charge for trades, the fact that they cannot fix these bugs in PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading is sad. I have even had technical support reach out and tell me that it is my phone and not PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading . Seriously? As soon as my funds are settled I will switching brokers entirely as I am tired of losing money because I cannot see real-time price action. What a joke. Do not use E*TRADE folks! Worst broker ever

As an active trader I find this to be missing some key components that are readily available on the web application. There is no place to see or track your day’s realized gains. Everything is convoluted and so much more difficult than it should be. E*TRADE is a powerful platform and it would be nice to see them give some thought to user experience for mobile applications. It appears to be an application designed by engineers not a user experience professionals or trader. I otherwise love E*TRADE but I’m tempted to leave for other platforms that put user experience first. I’m not talking eye candy, I’m referring to being able to quickly assess a situation and make informed decisions very quickly. PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading makes me feel like I’m trying to trade with a blindfold on and my hands tied behind my back ...it is very frustrating. Please consider a complete UI overhaul.

1) E*trade has no price alerts for Future.
2) For when your order gets filled, there’s only email alerts, no push notification alerts.
3) They only have regular stoplosses, no OCO or Trail-stoplosses.
4) They don’t offer custom orders.
5) Their charts are in military time only, there’s no option to switch to regular time. Freakin annoying.
6) You would think the future contracts you trade are by default associated with your futures account. Well, that’s not so. Oddly, they always set your default trades to your brokerage account, and it’s necessary - each time you open the up - to manually change it to your futures account. Welcome to 1980.
7) In my opinion, the interface is not user friendly. They can make it so much more simpler, just like Think or Swim. Think or swim’s interface is about ten million times more user friendly.
In short, E*trade has a long way to go to be considered a futures trading platform. They’re lacking in so many key areas, plus their interface is horrible (compared to what it could be) that I would stay away from them (for “Future” traders) until they can get can implement all the items I listed above, as well as clean up their interface and make it clean and user-friendly.

E-trade apps are simply said pieces of junk!! I remember the “BELOVED OPTIONS HOUSE APP” from years ago which I absolutely loved, and then e-trade took over options house... so sad!! I’m not going to write a list of things that need to be better or could be better, they can look at the old options house app themselves; I’m just going to say that I absolutely hate e-trade apps and charts! Any other online broker would offer you better tools and way better apps to succeed, to name a few, Interactive Brokers, TD Ameritrade, and anything else would be better than e-trade. Remember that better tools and apps is the only thing that could help you succeed in the stock market. E-trade has absolutely no interest in listening to customers and improving their apps! Do yourself a favor and open an account with another broker!

I switched from another broker after being sold on how perfect E*TRADE was. I started paper trading and informed the gentleman there was a delay from seconds to minutes once purchasing positions . I was told that it’s a paper issue only. I started trading real money and have since lost THOUSANDS. Yes you heard that right!!! I spoke to management and sent them numerous of screen recordings to show the issues and have since been told that since they can’t “replicate” the issue, that I will not be credited. STAY AWAY from PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading if you are a trader who likes to day trade or scalp. If you are buying to hold long term, this would be okay for that. Their customer service is that of Robinhood and they will need credit you if there is a platform issue.

Update:
I have to change my rating after using for quite sometime. There are so many bugs, tickers don’t get refreshed, sometimes it shows previous day value, the options settings near price term gets set to some random value and have to change this again and again. PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading getting crashed often, positions bid / ask & profit / loss doesn’t get updated frequently. It’s literally getting impossible to use. Will wait to see if the next update going to have any major improvements , if not I might as well try other broker.
Old review:
Love PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading and it is getting better with the updates but still there are improvements needed.
1. Positions on dashboard is good but it should actually show your current value (profit / loss) if you have options and tapping should take you to that position, instead it only have information about the stock price and opens quote details.
2. When you have multiple contracts under same stock you have to do one additional tap to see the each position profit / loss and select one to close it. Too many taps involved and by the time we get to closing the contract, we already loose few seconds. Every second is very important.

This is a great app for trading, however the widget update is very useless with it timing out after 30 minutes and requiring a login every single time. My session time out a set of four hours, yeah I still have to re-login, using two factor authentication, roughly every 30 minutes or so if I want the widget to keep updated. This should be fixed so I do not need to login at all for the entire day and which should update automatically without any further sessions required. Logging in through PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading should require logins, Yes, but the widget should be fully automated without requiring logins every single time I want to know how my portfolio was doing. At least give us this option. I might as well use the regular E*TRADE app which renders PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading rather useless to me.

The gains shown in Power E*TRADE are not accurate for options. They do not reflect the fees that you pay for an option contract. If you are paying $0.50 per contract for example, and you buy 10 contracts the $5 you spent on fees is not reflected in the gains.
Over time this is a big issue- Power E*TRADE can tell you you’ve made money when really you are at a loss. Let’s say you have done $2000 worth of options contracts over time, and finally you are profitable in PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading by $100. You think you have profited $100 from your options trades, when in reality PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading is not showing the fees, so you are actually down by $1900. Developers need to fix this ASAP!

When transferring funds from bank account, in E*TRADE app, it does show if the fund is available immediately or days later before submitting the transfer, however for Power E*TRADE app, it doesn’t show that, please consider adding that to Power E*TRADE app which makes it easier to decide to add funds. I always go to E*TRADE app for fund transfer but it would have been easier if Power E*TRADE had that feature to show the time money is available before transfer.
Thanks

I’m just going to rewrite my review. Figured out a lot of things that I didn’t know how to do at first. PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading is an excellent alternative to the standard E*Trade app. The user interface is modern and pretty easy to use once you figure everything out. Only have a few suggestions:
1. In your portfolio, it would be nice if you could separate Call/Put options and shares. I hate that they’re mixed in together. Have one section for Calls/Puts and one section for Shares that you own.
2. Under the portfolio section I wish you could still see the expiration date of your contracts and quantity under the ticker symbol with the top level view and not have to switch to spread or leg level. I like the condensed view of top level. The other two make it difficult to see all your positions at a glance.
3. I think it would be beneficial to have a how to section on PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading. I couldn’t figure out a lot of things in my initial review and had Google how to do a lot of things.
Outside of some minor delays with information loading and an issue with logging back in without completely closing PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading and swiping it away, PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading is solid and will be my go to. Looking forward to future updates and fixes.

New update is TERRIBLE. Why was the positions screen changed? For options traders holding multiple positions in one name the positions shows multiple after every ticker. Then you have to click on individual tickers to look at what you have and then click again for closing or rolling. So on the new positions screen basically you are not able to see anything except multiple. PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading has become totally unusable and cumbersome. Please revert back to the old positions screen where you could see everything on one page or let me know how to get rid of this new update. Thanks

PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading is 100 times better than the standard E*trade app. I didn’t even know it was available until the other day. I’m disappointed I didn’t know about it or they didn’t really advertise it or I wouldn’t used it right away. The charts are just ok.
One issue I noticed is that the quotes and portfolio prices don’t update after hours but when I go to the standard E*trade app they do. This is a huge issue because I didn’t realize one of my stocks dropped after hours. Is this a glitch?

Updated review:
Live data has to be enabled in the options. Once enabling, of course it shows accurate data. Again, the UI is beautiful and useful. I have to take one point off for the delay when the market opens. PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading takes 30-50 minutes after the market opens to start displaying data.
Previous review (2/5 stars)
The UI is very nice, but I finally left for the base E*TRADE app. The data on PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading was always behind and wouldn’t populate until an hour after the market opened. I compared other sites with accurate data and PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading.

I’ve been using PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading and the devs have improved a lot since then. I love the look and feel and specially the dark mode. I only drawback is with the “Usability”. Comparing with robinhood, this is definitely not that “user friendly”. For example - when using scrolling wheel to find options strike price which is a pain. You cant check how many day trades you did. I wish it was that simple. Just showing the room for improvements and I hope they’ll make PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading better on each iterations.
Update - the day I wrote this review, the updated app has been improved a lot in usability

You know a product is good if I go out of my way to write a review. PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading is so much more user friendly and versatile than the regular E*trade mobile app, I freakin love this new Power E*trade app!!!! It’s got a thinkorswim feel to it which is what I use currently for charting and lvl 2. Just wished the charts would switch to side view when I rotate my phone, and if they could display shares outstanding or float in the details or make them available with customizable details. That would be perfect either way this gets a 10/5 from an extremely satisfied and pleasantly surprised user!

UPDATE: Thank you for adapting the platform for iPad!!! Awesome experience.
Older post:
I love this platform...on desktop and iPhone, but I don’t know why there has not been a Power E*TRADE app for the iPad. I don’t mean the basic E*trade app or the iPhone version you can download on the iPad I mean a full fledged developed app specific to the iPad with the features of the Power E*TRADE iPhone/desktop client. Great app and I love the detail you can get from your accounts and trades, just wish I could get it on the iPad. Would be great to integrate check deposit as well. That is all.

I love PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading it’s quick and very very easy to use! I have 1 suggestion that I have also put on my other review. I use another competitor to draw out my support and resistance lines. Any chance you can add this feature into the chart on the phone???? Or is this already available and I am not seeing this? Thanks!

I submitted a short iron condor trade without choosing “credit“ and the short position was executed immediately. That means I paid money while I was supposed to collect premium for the risk I took. The problem is that the default choice, when the bid side is negative, is “debit” and that makes it easy to overlook. I suggest that the default needs to be “credit” whenever someone attempts to place a SHORT order.
I immediately spoke with a representative about the issue and he said I need to wait a few days for a resolution and I did so. I called back after a few days because there was no change on my account only to be told they are sorry. So I lost money unnecessarily because of lack of protection from the system.

I can finally say that the lags and the freezes with PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading have come rare now. Before it was so bad, but glad it’s stopped. To the point of the review, I’m asking for better time frame options. Having only the one minute and five minute options is pretty weak, especially with every other app having the choice. Please be the power house app that you are and give us the option to choose are minute intervals! 🙏🏼

As the old saying goes “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it!” Not sure who had the brilliant idea to change the interface design, but please change it back. All of the relevant information that was needed to track my current stock information is now hidden!?! I have to click in to each individual stock to see everything which makes it very difficult to track and trade. PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading has had a lot of issues that needed to be fixed (like conveniently crashing almost every time I need to do a quick trade) but one of the parts that made it great you decide to remove....makes me question if I should keep using your platform.

I’m not sure what the standard is for apps like this but this one is terrible. Prices don’t update, positions are marked as losses when the asset is up, it makes no sense. PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading has a terrible back end - the data needs to be updated in real time and displayed properly and accurately. The front end is well done and I have no complaints about the interface. For that, I give it one star, but if you really want to have a useful mobile supplement to desktop trading, find a different broker - I know I will.

Simple layout fixes that simplify things and use a more vertical alignment may work better. PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading had too many things that you need to swipe right or left on, when swiping up and down is much faster on a smart phone. If I could look at the greeks on a separate vertical screen like on the watchlist page, it would be much easier to read.
Besides this there are many glitches such as incorrect gains and losses. Sometimes I can't log in for hours at a time as well. It could be a great mobil app, it just needs some fixes.

For the past 4 weeks it has been difficult to trade options and common stocks with PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading. There is a huge lag in option price and common stock price. When I tried to buy or sell options of a underlying company like MSFT It gives me a error message saying it does not recognize symbol. I have lost money because of these issues. I have had this issue even when on a WiFi connection at home. If this continues, I will transfer all my money to another broker and close my account.
by Dancho_88
It’s not a user friendly platform. It has happened twice on a Put Sell call that my options were automatically sold by Options house platform way before the expire date and I end up loosing money $$$. Reason is that I got a margin call which is ok (i could have added more money like all do) but the problem is that PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading does not tell you that. No alert, no email, no notification and one day you goto your account and see the Option has been sold out - happened twice. Even if you goto Alerts in the menu, it says “No alerts” - try it. Now what would an end user do in such a case?
by Hmmmfjdghgx Hdb
Sometimes my holdings will be doubled. For example I’ll have two AAPL and AMZN tickers to click on. This will also double my days gain/loss. Sometimes all positions will be doubled sometimes only one or two. It also gets very weird when options expire. Some options I sold have now expired worthless and yet it says I lost money. Underlying is 100 above the strike so it’s not like it got exercised. Sometimes it says I can’t close out a position because quotes aren’t available for the position and I have to restart PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading a couple of times for it to fix.
When it works it’s great but more often than not for me it’s not working
by Messi89
Charts and options trading are good and better than the E*TRADE app. My biggest complaint since PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading was launched is the fact that you can’t hide the account value, day gain/loss, and YTD gain/loss. There needs to be an option to hide this information because when you need to use it public you have to make sure no one is looking over your shoulder. Please make this an option to hide that information, there’s no way around being able to look at any positions without that information being the biggest standout on the screen.

I really enjoy using PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading for the most part and have been using Power E*TRADE more than Think or Swim to place trades. However, I prefer charting on ToS and TradingView much more. If E*TRADE could improve the charting functionality as well as make an iPad compatible version it would be a 5-star app for me.

I have 5 different brokers and this is by far the best trading app I’ve used. My friend has had E*TRADE for years and didn’t know about PowerETRADEAdvancedTrading until I showed him it and he’s used power E*TRADE on his computer. Both of us were blown away. Thanks a lot E*TRADE team! Also I hardly ever write reviews.
