Best Persian Language Learning App

So far this is the best language learning app I have come across for Persian in nearly ten years of searching. Some of the more famous ones don’t have Persian unfortunately. But this one is well worth the money to get the full version. There is sometimes minor errors where the spoken word doesn’t match the written word on the screen. Typically two different words presented that mean the same thing. But the mismatch can be confusing. Also some of the verb conjugation pop ups show the wrong verb. I suppose these can be fixed in future version. All and all, an essential utility for anyone interested in learning Persian!

Watch Out Duolingo!!

Not only does Mondly offer languages that Duolingo does not, LearnPersian also teaches in a way that nearly makes you forget you’re learning by gradually shifting from your native language to the target language throughout exercises! I am very much a fan of the teaching methods employed as they drastically reduce the perceived difference between learning/practicing and testing in the learn-practice-test model, thereby putting the focus nearly entirely on the learning and practicing of new words and grammar, which I’ve found keeps me in the flow of learning quite a bit more than other language learning apps. I’d highly recommend LearnPersian to anyone looking to learn a new language!

Best App I’ve found so far

I taught myself to read farsi a while ago but I still have extremely limited vocabulary and have struggled to find resources with English alphabet so that I can master pronunciation. The fact that LearnPersian offers both the Persian and English alphabet version of material is absolutely wonderful. Lessons are straight to the point and do well to emphasize review. I’m very excited to use LearnPersian to finally learn my parents’ language!

The developer must be deaf!

This application actually has a lot of potential to get better and be more effective. I already paid an annual subscription, because you basically can't expect a sufficient app in the long run, if it's completely free of charge or full of intrusive ads.

I also believe that users need to make their own contributions to ensure steady improvement by reporting any found errors.

So I proactively and repeatedly gave accurate feedbacks, because there are so many substantial errors in syntax, verb conjugations and translations along with many audio and script discrepancies! Not only in Farsi, but in all other 33 languages which I patiently checked out.

So what do you expect? Any kind of reaction, right? But IT'S FREAKING SUCH A FRUSTRATING AND DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE that my well-intentioned comments are being just ignored. I PAID FOR a SERVICE but receive ZERO RESPONSE.

Customer service: zero; language course support: crappy; philological-educational, grammatical structure: poor, I could still write a lot.

My expectation was after several weeks of honest feedback, somebody will show at least a tiny little reaction, as proof of being still alive!

I strongly hope that someone from developer site will read this review and react to it.

Good but have noticed inconsistencies

I bought LearnPersian as a means to help me refresh in a language I learned a few years ago. Mostly it has been a great tool, but there are a few issues I’ve noticed. First, in some of the lessons the audio doesn’t match the text provided. Second, some of the grammar lessons are incorrect. For instance, i just finished a grammar lesson that I think was supposed to help with conjugation of simple past (in audio) but the text choices are actually present perfect. Other than those glitches, LearnPersian has been most helpful.

Good App

I've had LearnPersian for a year and try to access it daily. It's great as a time killer and supplemental for learning a language. My only comment is that some of the Persian slides do not have the correct words or the speaker isn't speaking what is on the card. I've noticed that this is becoming rarer maybe with updates they're fixing such errors.

Mondly had gone above and beyond what I expected for this ap. I think it's worth a subscription.

Good app

Very nice app for learning Farsi. This is app is great overall, the only issue I have with it is for the Hello section, none of the lessons have volume for some reason. This makes it very difficult because I can’t hear how the words should be pronounced. I’m not sure how to fix this because the volume works on all the other sections.

Subscription snafu

LearnPersian was working just fine till yesterday and today it won't let me access my lessons. It is asking me to purchase the premium version. I purchased the Premium package in May of this year and have until May 2018!

This is not good. I wrote to support. Zero response. No phone number. No way to communicate with them. Ugh! Any help is appreciated.

Update- I did hear back from ioana and they fixed the issue right away. I wish they had a support as well as subscription option in LearnPersian itself. I had to come to LearnPersian Center, search for my language module and troll through comments to find their support email. Why make it so hard?

Thanks

Highly recommend this app!

LearnPersian is very good and has helped to increase my vocabulary and my ability to understand and communicate in Farsi. There are some inconsistencies here and there between the speaker the words, but overall I really enjoy using LearnPersian , the lessons are fun and interactive.

Mostly good

As someone who speaks persian mostly fluently, I decided to download LearnPersian to improve my reading. It doesn’t teach the alphabet, but it does offer the ability to use the persian alphabet. Also, as far as I’ve seen, it doesn’t make a distinction between polite and formal. Not sure if it’s just the dialect in Tehran, but ‘minousham’ can be replaced with ‘mekhoram’ in more casual situations. (eg ‘man chay minousham’ can be ‘man chay mekhoram’ in casual situations)
Little things aside, this is a pretty good app.

Not without its problems, but a great starting point

I knew quite a lot of vocabulary going it, but I like how this mixes words & phrases, and the power of having it in my pocket for whenever I have a few spare moments is huge. Also, I love that it lets you toggle between Farsi characters and phonetic spelling.

Great way for nemiroonis to learn farsi

My kids were struggling with Rosetta Stone so I looked for a more kid friendly alternative. I have been so pleased with the experience so far. My kids are excited to learn and are having fun with their lessons.

Good for basic but too easy

LearnPersian is very easy and almost too easy to complete the exercises. I find that words they say are not always what is on screen. I'm not learning the language too well do to how easy the exercises are. They say the word on the screen and then it's spelled out for you. Very little association required.

Good app, however...

Let me tell you everything nag you need to know about LearnPersian. Yes, you get about 2 levels free, along with one daily lesson. You also get a “chatbot” that you can chat with. That is actually very nice. For the other levels, you must pay. I would suggest downloading LearnPersian with Gorbeh: in the city, Gorbeh: at the sea, and Gorbeh: at the farm to really get the full experience. Good app, though

Fun to use

It’s too early to tell if Mondly is as effective as other platforms (Rosetta Stone, etc), but it’s a lot of fun to use and is part of my morning routine now. Consistency is half the battle so in that way it’s a great tool.

Great but no audio

The words aren’t voiced automatically or when I tap on the voice button. Maybe it needs an update. I downloaded it so I could speak it so I want it to sound right when I do but other than that it’s great :)

By

Easy to digest exercises

This is a great app to improve on my Persian, I have noticed some difference in the words vs the verbal sentences without explanation and I think in Persian it’s especially important to differentiate slang vs formal vs written

Most helpful language give app

Overall super helpful. It has helped me the most among the language apps so far. But there are coding errors that mix up phrases sometimes which almost guarantees you miss a question.

No matter been replied or not

Here I will give four stars and I will list to the developer Email what I desire in the application. Anyway I have been searching for something to learn Persian. I'm a kurdish guy this application do me both helps me and takes me away from Persian.

For Kurdish, Arabic and Pakish learners, we must read in original Persian alphabet not English because in writing the word that it askes I usually fail

Above all the price for the premium version is very high.

Thanks and keep going

Love it!

It’s a great app! I have tried others and this is the first time that I can learn with both alphabets. It’s really easy to use. I love LearnPersian and would highly recommend it
