It was a great idea

I signed up for a free class for Lightroom at Shaw Academy. Once ISigned up for the class, the emails promoting other options came flooding through my email. It appeared that I had to pay for class materials and also to get a diploma. Then after the first four weeks, when I decided that I wanted to continue the classes, I attempted to buy more time with the Academy. Unfortunately with all the different emails and offers, I got confused and accidentally purchased three different plans. Actually, I paid for three different plans but two are the plans were just charged twice. My checking account was overdrawn and I had fees from my bank from that. I was certain that when I explained what happened to Shaw Academy, they would refund the money the extra money. Turns out, they only gave me $94 out of the 400 I sent in. Only 94 was what was required to do what I wanted to do. They were unsympathetic to the mistake, and told me I had a great value even though I paid four times what I was supposed to pay. They said I could have a lifetime membership blah blah blah. Not helpful considering my checking account is still overdrawn. I haven’t had a job in a year and I didn’t bargain for extra debt in this class.

Unfortunately, I would never do this again, but the classes were great. I got a lot of information and I believe they were valuable to me. I wish you the best of luck in dealing with their customer service should you ever need it.

Strange but not all bad

Ok first off, I am learning from the lessons. I signed up for the free trial. I ended up getting the toolkit because it seemed mandatory, not true but it had already charged me for it. I’ve done 3 classes so far and I like them. I wish you could go at your own pace and not just 2 classes per week. I’ve got more time and would love to do more if I can.
My complaints though are 1.) ShawAcademy doesn’t work. It literally is blank. It shows a drop down menu at the top for “ok going” and “on demand” and then at the bottom you can add courses or go to the profile. But even the profile screen is blank. ShawAcademy I would give no stars to. 2.) The marketing is super spammy. From unknown calls frequently on class days, text messages and emails. I turned off ShawAcademy notifications because that was about the only thing that worked on ShawAcademy but they’re annoying. Way too spammy. You’re pushing people away hardcore. 3.) The video wouldn’t play on my computer so I watch them from my phone web browser. I can’t enlarge the screen correctly so I have to pinch and zoom that way and it’s still weird to view. 4.) I wish it would show what tools are needed when you sign up. I couldn’t find anywhere a supply list or a syllabus type thing. Would be helpful.
Definitely a lot of work to be done but being able to take some of the classes free at first and see if it’s worth it to you is cool. Room to grow for sure.

Definitely worth it to sign up

I normally don’t leave reviews but I had to say something. A lot of people have been complaining about this being a con, it’s not. Not sure what happened with them, but I was able to sign up, and also cancel easily. Yes it’s a very long process and you can contact their customer help support. It’s not as difficult as it is with Apple and iTunes’ process. I enjoyed the teachings and I did learn a lot even for the first free modules. I also purchased the toolkit and it’s yours to download and keep even after you cancel. After this, you have option to continue or cancel. If you are determined to learn a new knowledge without the time to attend a physical class, this works well. Remember that the fact that something did not work well for you, doesn’t mean it’s a con. Yes there are con companies out there, but it doesn’t mean any time glitches occur, means it’s not genuine. I don’t know this company nor am I related to them, before but it baffles me how people are so quick to reach the conclusion that something is a con. Imagine if it’s your company and others write reviews like this? Just my thoughts. Try to contact their customer service, send emails and remember be patient. Hope you all have a blessed day and God bless you all.

My experience so far

Thus far I have had a pretty decent experience with Shaw Academy. I enjoy the courses so far, but like a previous reviewer mentioned, I have a little issue with the marketing. It’s is very aggressive and over-the-top. I have received countless emails, texts, app notifications, and even phone calls reminding me about courses or asking me to buy the toolkit (on top of the many many adverts for the toolkit on the actual course dashboard). I came to Shaw Academy because I wanted to learn, so I don’t need all the harassing to get me to be investing in showing up for the courses. And I also am not interesting in purchasing the toolkit at this moment so the countless emails and pop ups are getting to be a bit annoying. Overall, I think the value of the courses is enough that I will continue them, but if the marketing could be a tad less aggressive, that would be great. App works fine so far though, and it’s nice to have an option to join from my phone if I’m away from my computer.

DO NOT DO IT

If I could leave 0 stars, I would have! Unfortunately, I am required to at least provide 1...so here you go! This was an absolutely horrible experience! I signed up for the free trial yesterday in pursuit of graphic design and photoshop courses for my business and let me tell you, if I could attach screenshots of the multiple calls, emails, AND texts that I have received within just the last 24 hours DEMANDING that I download ShawAcademy (That I already downloaded), reminding me that attending my classes are MANDATORY, etc. It was ridiculous! It immediately began to feel like a scam and harassment. Even if it IS legit, no one should be treated that way. Besides, the video lesson wouldn’t even play! Today I decided to cancel because it just was THAT bad, I didn’t even want the “free” trial (“free” because it kept trying to get me to buy toolkits and adobe crap I wouldn’t even know how to use because the video wouldn’t play). The website literally had 5 pages of trying to get me to keep the membership, and when I continued to press end my membership, it made me call a number just to finish the job. The rep then proceeded to hound me and try to convince me to keep it. I repeatedly stated I want to cancel and she outright spoke over me and was very aggressive. Finally, she sent me an email confirmation of cancellation but after all I went through, I will definitely watch my account because something just isn’t right about how this place conducts business.

SCAM and FRAUD + Shady marketing

Read until the end. So, I will start by saying I’ve taken the first lesson and it’s definitely worth it for a free course so far. The content is great. The down sides? They bombard your emails far too aggressive from the outset. High level of spam feeling. They also have pop ups as you start that (if you’re not super careful) you may click on for an “instant tap to purchase” and then you’re stuck with it and no refund... but THEN what makes it worse is after the first lesson they offer the same thing for free if you leave a review. My advice for the consumer: don’t fall for clickbait and don’t move too fast! My advice for the company: 1) refund my money for what seems like a scam 2) don’t scam your users! Either give it free or make everyone pay... be forthcoming with your offers and stay consistent. You’ll only lose trust and loyalty with customers. 3) cut the emails and reminders down to about 15% of what they are. I’m on day three and so very ready to block everything and cancel because the amount of emails is beyond absurd.

Update: SCAM and FRAUD. I was contacted by a gentleman named Warren at this app with a fancy offer for unlocking full access and getting adobe access for 3 months included. Two weeks have gone by and nothing. Nothing from adobe. Customer service and WARREN have shown zero support. I am trying to get my $ back, but I believe I fell for a SCAM and this company is committing FRAUD. DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR SCHEMES!

Good idea, poor execution

I kept getting ads for the “free 4 week course” I could take to keep myself busy/use some of my free time more wisely. The idea is great to allow access to a series of courses that you can choose and schedule your courses for over the period that you are a member (the first month being free). First problem I have is that the time zone if the courses is not noted on the site and all of the course times are listed in ATLANTIC standard time. I live in the US in Eastern time zone and the way the countdown to your next course is displayed on your page is confusing because it would show the countdown to the correct time but when I logged in I will have missed my course. Additionally, the amount of pushy, spam like emails reminding you when your course is, that you are late for your course, that you have missed your course, that you will fall behind in the module, to purchase whatever resource package/eCertificate, etc. is intrusive and threatening. I had considered continuing with an actual membership once my trial period was up however after consistently being confused about the scheduling of my courses and the spam in my email, I have no desire to continue. I have read a multitude of reviews that it is nearly impossible to cancel membership once you have signed up so I guess that is something I’ll have to deal with once I get to that point.

Extremely Hard To Communicate With Anyone

I signed up months ago for the free trial. During my free trial, I was contacted by someone from Shaw Academy, super nice and bubbly, tells me that she’s going to give my account an upgrade or something. I’m working at the moment, so I’m also on a customer service call myself and I let the girl know that. She told me all she needed was 30 seconds, so I just let her explain. I had the time because my own customer was updating their computer. I let her explain, after everything, I thought she was going to tell me a price, so when no price was mentioned, so I thought it was free! I saw the $99 charge on my account and I flipped!!! I emailed the girl who called me MULTIPLE times, NO response!!! I filled out a feedback about waiting my refund and got NO RESPONSE! There is nowhere on ShawAcademy to contact any Customer Service. I let my 3 month period end and I just was charged another $99 and it says that I was billed through iTunes but can’t find the charge on reportaproblem, so WHERE WAS I CHARGED AND HOW DO I GET MY REFUND?! I canceled the dang thing, I just need someone from Shaw to make sense of why the heck I can’t get in contact with a human at Shaw unless it’s for you to sell me something that I don’t even know I’m paying for! I just want my refund for TODAY, screw the past. You just charged me today, I just want my $99 back! That’s only fair.

Guerilla Tactics Leave Me Unimpressed

I have no complaints about the course content so far - but then again, I’ve just started. Here are my issues:
It’s somewhat dishonest to offer a free month and after you sign up say - oh btw, you can only get the video- other content costs extra.
Secondly, I have gotten so many emails, texts, and what I suspect are phone calls from this company since registering for this free month. And the terminology used is absolutely ridiculous! Everyone is an adult and can take control of their own destiny and time schedule. If an emergency or life happens and I can’t come on when I originally planned - so be it. No need for for texts and emails telling me I’m late & I missed a class & that the Guidance Manager is trying to contact me (I think I knew that I was late and missed it!). Furthermore why not give people the option to watch on their own schedule. If I suddenly have a burst of free time, why not allow me to look at more than one video at a time? Needless to say, I’m not impressed by your guerilla tactics so far!

In addition, I find that there is a page that covers the screen on the iPhone version of ShawAcademy (telling me to turn on my alerts whether or not they are on - and doesn’t ever go away) so that I can’t even use it to manage my account!

Just don’t do it

I am a teacher, therefore, especially during this pandemic, I work several hours that the service line is open. As a result, I could not cancel my membership. There is also not an option to cancel that is strictly online. You are FORCED to call a number and deal with them trying to convince you to keep it. Then, because the workers are at home, some will lie and say that they cannot contact their supervisor so there is nobody higher up you can talk to. The program runs on a 28 day cycle, not 30, so be prepared to think you have extra time to cancel but don’t. They do not give refunds, under any circumstances pretty much, which is very not centered around the customer. Sure, they tried to offer me 6 months free but if you can offer 6 months, why can’t I just have my money back? Food for thought. But basically, because their offices are all over the world (not against global companies at all) they do not make themselves available to their customers. Their email literally says that they apologize that the hours are terrible! Oh! And their billing team does not even have a phone number. They are not available on weekends, so I literally had to wait until the day after my free subscription expired to cancel. I call at 9 am and they still won’t give me my money back. Feels like a scam. No other global company does this. Not customer friendly. Not user friendly.

Evil spam?! What are you talking about?

I haven’t had anything of the sorts with my course. I guess you are talking about the reminder messages and emails telling you to go to class!! Lol I think they have been wonderful. I have had some issues and they have absolutely fixed every single on of them. Right away! Which I find totally awesome, because it has been fixed really fast. My issues weren’t the same as yours. I mean yeah I get reminders for my classes but that’s to remind me about my classes (which I am thankful for) I won’t even list my old issues because they have already fixed them. The only thing I can say is that I wish I knew how to turn back on my text message alerts. I clicked the link to go to my class and accidentally clicked opt out and it immediately opted me out. Now I don’t even know how to get it turned back on. So you know, you can totally opt out of the alerts. Really too easily. That is actually my only complaint. I want my text alerts back please! Keep up the great work. The courses are amazing and I have seriously enjoyed your academy. Thanks for making it so easy to go back to school to learn something I really love.

Unsure how this was rated so high

This is a scam, plain and simple. Everything is computerized, including customer service, and the prerecorded “classes” are a waste of time. It may advertise as free, but you’ll be required to pay for a “module kit” and for the “diploma” required to “graduate.” They send you dozens of emails a day and even call you pretending it’s a personalized service when it is very much not. I can’t believe I wasted 50 minutes attending one “class.” I couldn’t handle any more after that after I saw how bad it all was. You can find all of the information given on here, on Wikipedia, FOR FREE. Canceling is an entirely different story. You’ll go through at least 4 pages on ShawAcademy encouraging you “don’t give up on your dream,” and then at the end give you a number to call claiming it couldn’t be cancelled online. Yeah, okay. So you call and it’s at least 10 minutes worth of the computer telling you “don’t give up, but if you want to continue to cancel, press 2.” Multiple times doing that. Finally it claims to have cancelled. But based on reviews I’ve already read on here similar to mine, I’m in fear of being charged, so now I’m off to get a replacement debit card. I’m assuming any 5-star review was a paid-for review so please, please, don’t give this place your card information, email, name, OR number. Just don’t sign up at all. Free isn’t what they say it means here.

Bad, not working, and horrible

This is by far the worse experience I’ve had, first I tried the free trial and had a bad experience with the live classes, I was not able to join and I was mark absent as a result, the problem of joining a class was due to the video not loading on ShawAcademy or the web. Then I decided to cancel so I don’t get charge for future classes and suddenly one of their sales representatives calls me to check up on me, when I told him I was driving and that I couldn’t talk at the moment they insisted on talking, by that time I had put the phone down because of the obvious I was driving yet that guy Yusuf Kenny didn’t care and kept talking and deduced to push a sale for 99 dollars which I didn’t hear nothing about and didn’t care about it at that time, so since I put the phone down for safety measures he used that opportunity to get me to agree to one of his cheap tactics to offer me some service. I was not expecting such an unethical move by an educational institution to fall so low that to proceed with a charge and when I called them for a refund they said this charge is non refundable when I had no idea I was going to be charged or even explained that this cost was non refundable. Everyone my advice to you is to stay away from this academy for they are not responsible people, they are not from the United States and could care less about ethics.

Do not sign up

I don’t like to write reviews but I can’t stay quiet about this. Do not give this company your payment information. When you sign up, you only have access to a few weeks worth of a longer course, and they keep all the stuff you really want to learn toward the end so you have to pay for a subscription to get access to it. No only that but you have to attend the class at the required time in order to access that lesson. Then, when you try to cancel, it takes days to get them to send you the link, which sends you to a phone number you have to call to cancel. It takes at least 15 minutes of listening to a prerecorded message telling you that you’re making a mistake by “giving up on your dreams” and confirming over and over that you want to cancel. No responsible company treats their customers this way. If you have already signed up and wish to cancel, I recommend you follow all the steps above but additionally log into PayPal or call your cc company and cancel the recurring payment there as well, since some reviewed here say that they’re still being charged after canceling. Forgot to mention before that they take a bunch of 0.50 draws out of your account when you first sign up, refund them, and then withdraw their refund after the fact, essentially stealing money from you very subtly. I would not sign up again if I knew all of this from the beginning.

SCAM, A COMPLETE SCAM

I signed up for the free trial and while still learning how the platform I saw a “toolkit” option for $40. With only the intention to see what it was and to NOT buy it, I clicked hoping it would open a page to explain what a toolkit it since it gave no description. After clicking, the page when white and I reloaded. It would go back so I exited out and didn’t think about it. A few days later I saw that they charged me the $40!! I didn’t get any confirmation before charging or an email receipt or anything. I immediately emailed and asked for a refund and they would not give me one. I had already canceled my account because I did not trust them so clearly I won’t be accessing this “toolkit” (which I still don’t understand what exactly it is).
Long story short: they made an unauthorized charge when all I wanted was to simply see what the toolkit was and they will not refund me. I’m very upset

Side note: when you want to cancel a free trial, they make you call a number to confirm (??) so when I did the woman on the phone kept repeating that she’ll extend the trial, and give me this and that and would not stop. After saying I definitely wanted to cancel, she then REPEATED saying everything she’ll give me. She wouldn’t stop talking. After several minutes, she finally canceled my account. Obviously a cheap way to keep people from quitting

This app is frustrating and can make you feel like you’re failing

I’ve had this for 2 weeks for the digital marketing courses. I like the courses, but the way ShawAcademy /website operates in relation to the courses is maddening. Last week AND this week I was on time and present for my class but had to reschedule and wait to watch y course for 24 hours. Last week The links just weren’t working, I spoke to support and they said to try clearing cookies, logging out and back in, refreshing the page, etc. all things I had done already, but whatever. Then this week, the same thing happened with my rescheduled class - I was under the impression I changed my class schedule for one class but scheduled 2 at the same time and when I tried to access both, neither link was working, the website had my class blocked off still and my phone just wouldn’t play the videos. I can watch them later but I also don’t even know how my class attendance works in relation to my grade since it’s an online certificate, like nothing is clear or working properly, it’s giving me anxiety over actually getting to the end of my course properly and affecting how consistently I’m learning. I don’t like this and as of right now I won’t be continuing this trial, this is extremely frustrating.

Shaw academy is a CON

They got me with a free photography course. Then when my 4 weeks was up, with 5 days left I tried to cancel, but at the end of the cancelation process, there is a number to call that doesn’t work. I called 5 times, and my husband called 3. It never let us through to cancel. I promptly sent an email asking to cancel but all I got was an automated response telling me to “continue my dreams.” Bull. I then sent another email asking again to cancel before I was charged £50, but they just told me to go do the same thing that I explained wasn’t working. Then the weekend comes up, where they are unresponsive, you can’t email or call them, but boy they can charge you. I get charged. I email them very frustrated, get no response, find a different email online to go to that’s supposed to get me to them, I email them, and get a response that my account has been cancelled, but they can’t refund my money since I didn’t cancel before the deadline. Yeah, cuz that was my fault. And I’m not even sure if my account is cancelled, it still says it’s active. So I’ll email again and we’ll see where I get.

ShawAcademy though doesn’t work great. You can’t pause or scroll the videos, even though you know they’re recorded. It said I missed three classes when I watched them all, and again it’s all a scam to make money, cuz they won’t let you cancel. Yeah. Wish I could give a zero star.

I want the old Shaw Academy back!!!!

I’m very disappointed in the new Shaw Academy!!! The old one was wayyyy better. I completed two courses in Photography with the old one. Everything was so simple, no glitches, no ads, and I learned a lot. I liked it so much that I purchased the lifetime membership. I haven’t used it in a while and decided to sign up for a class and I couldn’t even get through it. There’s soooo many ads that I couldn’t even start my course. I tried via ShawAcademy on my iPhone and iPad and then the web browser and my experience was horrible. I kept getting notifications that it’s time to start my class, which I hate btw, and I clicked the link to start my class but there’s so many ads that I can’t even watch my webinar. There’s options to exit the ads but clicking them does absolutely nothing smh. I deleted ShawAcademy so many times and re downloaded it but it just spins. When I go to the course on the web it does nothing as well. When I’m finally able to log in and click start class nothing happens. It’s too glitchy and too many ads, I can’t take it anymore. After 30 minutes of trying I finally gave up and deleted the course. I want the old way back when you could go at your own pace, there were no ads, and you paid one fee to access all modules and extras. This new Shaw isn’t working.

Pushy marketing

To start off, I signed up for the free trial hoping I could use it for a specific class. No, it makes makes you go through an Introductory Marketing course before getting to the social media skills course that I truly had my eye on. I already graduated college with minors in PR and Digital Marketing so the majority of the introductory course stuff I knew. It was a nice refresher but not something I would pay $70 for just to access the one course I wanted. It was really annoying how pushy the ads were. Every time I opened ShawAcademy , an ad would pop up advertising ShawAcademy . Not to mention the countless emails I received for letting me know my class was coming up. When trying to cancel my free trial, I had to call a number rather then just go through my main account. In this case, you would get a sales rep asking why you want to cancel and trying to keep your account active for as long as possible. I did try my first class hoping once I started I could read ahead and work at my own pace but no, despite being a recorded webinar class you must check in at a certain time and can’t read ahead unless you purchase the tool kit. For someone that is busy and likes to multitask, this is not the best thing.

Scam Academy

DO NOT, I repeat, do NOT sign up with these folks. Just a rule of thumb, in 2020 if you cant cancel a membership from the comfort of an app or even web browser, something is up. I read numerous complaints on BBB about these folks charging members during free trials, so i decided to get ahead and cancel my trial before the expiration date. The option to cancel in app takes you though SEVERAL prompts urging you not to cancel, only for it to direct you to dial in at the end. Waste of time right? Oh it gets worse. When you call in, you’re greeted by an automated machine that ALSO urges you not to cancel. The machine literally says things along the line of “why cancel? You came to us to grow and learn new skills. Press 1 to continue investing in yourself. Press 1 if you want to forge a path towards a better future. Press 2 to cancel” except when you press 2 it still doesn’t cancel. You’re taken through several more prompts before it FINALLY lets you cancel the membership. The machine then says you’ll get an email confirming cancellation (which I’ve yet to get) before abruptly disconnecting the call. I went ahead and blocked Future payments directly from PayPal just to be safe, but boy are these folks shady. Do yourself a favor and avoid at all cost. They may very well offer great value but these practices stink and reek of predatory behaviors.

Is it me or you

I’m currently taking the photography course. Just finished lesson 2 this morning. Here is the issue so far. You take lesson 1 but the assignment 1 is based off of questions you have yet to learn. Example: Lesson 1 was “what do you want to capture” (getting started) and assignment 1 was based off of “how the camera works”. Lesson 2 was about “how the camera” works but assignment 2 was about “lenses. Which happens to be what lesson 3 is about. This is very confusing and it’s causing me to get a failing grade. When you take lesson 1 the assignment 1 questions should follow up with what you learned that day but the way it is set up is a day ahead of itself. Completely not fair to a person really taking this serious and trying to learn a new skill. I asked if it was me or you but after I received an email telling me to complete assignment 2 then seeing that assignment 2 was actually questions about lenses which is lesson 3 I know now that it is issue with the way the program is set up. How can we get passing grades on assignments when the questions on the assignment is a lesson ahead of itself?

Great Stuff!

I am taking the Sports Nutrition Course through Tmobile free gift and I got the first Module for free. I have to say the lessons are really great and lecturer is well educated and knows alot about her stuff. I must say I have enjoyed it so much that i’m seriously considering signing up for the 3 remaining modules to get the diploma.

Only thing that i think needs to improve is that often (happenned to me more than once) the webinar just ends prematurely while the lecturer is speaking but since the lesson is available for replay i can go back and pickup where it left off so that is Ok. Just thought to bring this up to help the academy ensure it is giving a perfect service. Otherwise i’m really impressed and enjoying it!

No stars

Sorry cannot give this even 1 star, but of course they won’t allow no rating at all, go figure. While I’ve been taking the graphic design course and now onto the advanced one, forget about working on any type of mobile device! There’s no sound, plus when logging in, it only takes me to the first 8 courses, NOT into the advanced ones.
While the video may be live, the course itself is not. No matter on mobile or desktop, this is a Shaw issue. I’ll be deleting ShawAcademy since it’s useless. Only in vertical, cannot convert to horizontal, no sound, doesn’t login properly. Just like everything with Shaw, the courses are pretty good, but lack of customer support, live events, or help of any kind...totally non existent.

I’ll just continue as I’ve been doing, in my own home office, on my own time since interaction doesn’t exist. The whole thing isn’t worth any more than what I paid for it. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Great courses

I first saw an ad on Instagram and decided to try out a free 4-week photography course. I liked it so much that I became a premium member, and finished the advanced course Shaw offered. Then I moved on to other courses. I must say I think Shaw offers a great quality content. My only suggestion is to make all diplomas easily accessible because right now I have to look through my emails to find the emails that have my diplomas in them. Maybe I’m missing something. 🤷‍♀️ Also, it would be nice if I was able to organize my page with courses, right now it’s done automatically. But it’s not a biggie. Good work, Shaw team! 😊

Great info, unstable technology

I have enjoyed the classes I’m taking. It takes a little adjustment getting used to some of the instructor’s accents, but the information is good. The problem is more than half the time I couldn’t get into my classes online at the time I was supposed to, and then I had to wait at least an hour when I could access the recording of the same class. Unfortunately, I scheduled my second class right after the first one so once I couldn’t get in the first class it messed me up for the whole day. As of this last week, the player has not been available on the computer so now I have to watch my final the lessons (this is my fourth month) on my iPhone. That most definitely is not what I signed up for, and it’s really frustrating!

I’ll change my review

I will change my review once they help me with this problem. I thought to myself this is going to be a great app to use. I’m having a very big issue logging in from my phone and my iPad. Once I type in my email then it asked for my password but then it will say invalid credentials. I know my password and email is correct so I don’t get what’s going on, then it’ll ask for an OTP to reset my password so once I request that and type in the four numbers ,it gives me the option to reset it but once I do that I still can get into ShawAcademy it tells me invalid credentials can anyone help me with this it’s really frustrating and I want to get started on working through ShawAcademy .
What am I doing wrong can anyone help me out with this

Best online schooling

I love this online schooling because you can actually talk to the teacher I’m new to online schooling so I’m not sure what to expect but I definitely love it more then going to the school and doing it there at the school because you don’t have to worry about drama. I did do the life program and you were basically on your own and the teachers were just random teachers that couldn’t help with a lot of the classes so knowing that I have a teacher that can help and actually explain everything is the best

New student

I just started my first week of the professional diploma in photography class and I have had technical issues with volume on my iPhone and on my iPad. Also, there were no play buttons to push on the video screen. I tried Safari and Google Chrome on both devices with no success until the class was nearly over.

Very frustrating. And it was only during my second lesson that I discovered that shaw Academy has an app available, which I promptly downloaded and during the broadcast of my second lesson spent time setting up.

During lesson number two, I spent more time during the class trying to resolve the volume issues that I had virtually no time on material which means that I am going to go back through and listen to the lesson over again when I am not so distracted with technical issues.

So this review is not a review of the actual content of the course, because I have not had the pleasure of actually enjoying the course yet.

Great Detail

The social media course is pretty good. I’ve taken other courses and this one is pretty good so far. I wish it had something to show my progress and what quizzes and test that have been completed. I actually took a whole quiz and it didn’t tell me that I had already completed it till I was done with it. It would be nice to see where you are at in a glance. Also sometimes when I turn my phone horizontal I lose the video and the I have to restart ShawAcademy to get it to work horizontally.

Impressed beyond measure!

Amazed with Shaw Academy courses! Straight forward, self paced style of teaching allows for a deep dive on a myriad of subjects.. for me Financial Trading. In the near future I will be taking Photography and Nutrition courses. ShawAcademy is stable, easy to use and can be accessed anywhere at any time ( it’s an app of course), which allows for learning at anytime! Which fits my schedule at ease. Thank you Shaw Academy- I can honestly say a lifetime membership is worth every penny! Looking forward to the positive impact on my life and my families life!

Great Tool!

I recently signed up for the Finance course in Shaw. I am a Senior at the University of Cincinnati with a major in Finance. I am going to be taking my last four Finance classes to graduate this upcoming semester. I was reviewing the material in the Shaw Academy and realized that a lot of the material is what I was going to be taking in the upcoming semester. I decided to get a head start and I am grateful I decided to do so! I am already learning about PIP value, marginal value, CFD’s, etc. This is going to help me out tremendously!

Very Disappointed!!!

Webinars started out great but as soon as you need to contact them they have numerous roadblocks so your not able to get someone on the phone or a reply by email. I wanted to continue with the diploma but it took over a week to get a reply and it was after I had expressed disappointment on a peer chat. One of their main course rules is the importance of customer support and how crucial it is to respond to all and any communication but they don’t even follow those rules. I’m extremely disappointed in the company!! If I thought they actually gave proper support to their clients I would’ve loved to finish the certification which is why I paid to start in the first place.

Everything excellent so far

I don’t have any complaints so far, everything has been excellent, including the educators and the quality of the software.

The only thing that can be improved is the chat; make it more detailed and clarify when you’re chatting with the bot and when you’re chatting with your educator or the classroom. It’s been kind of confusing.

But that’s something that doesn’t obstruct the lessons.

Great learning resource, great team behind it..

ShawAcademy continuously gets improvements. Was rough when it first came out, but to their credit Shaw Academy kept pumping out updates that fixed the issues. That shows me that they are serious about their product, and that they care about their students. I am really happy I invested in joining Shaw Academy, and I feel I got a good deal with all the subjects they teach. Thank you Shaw Academy and keep up the good work!

Good but the app is lacking features.

I am enjoying my social media marketing course. The streaming and sound works great, but from what I can tell, if you want to access notes and slides to review on ShawAcademy you can't. You have to use the desktop site. I hope that changes. It is inconvenient having to use the desktop site to get materials. The AI helper tends to be a distraction as well at times.

Shaw Academy is a SCAM. Funds were withdrawn from my card despite never subscribing to the premium membership myself. Even after canceling this membership, more "partial funds" were withdrawn over 5 days. There is also a lot of ambiguity in their terns for a "free trial", you cannot use take any assessments if you manage to finish the first module within less than 4 weeks to start another module, meaning they are hoping you would buy access to other modules. Not to mention poor customer service (of course) and the terrible quality of the website itself - multiple pop ups, glitchy videos, and annoying emails that could be very well characterized as spam. Also, they make it harder for you to delete your account, most likely to delay your request for a few days to bleed you out of more money. DO NOT join Shaw Academy if you are looking to learn more with online classes.

Did the school ask for all your banking information, card # cvv # expire date. They ask for mine and offer free course so am thinking if the course free what is the account for??

Scammers so stay away before they steal money. They say free subscription but they charge heavy amounts to your card and don't even ask authorization. No customer service with any knowledge

Shaw Academy charged me over $100 for a membership when I was in my first week free trial. When I requested a refund they deleted my account on their website. They steal money from their customers and treat them horribly.
