Busuu - Learn to speak German Reviews

I’ve enjoyed my time with Busuu and have a subscription but I have a few major issues. First, the feature of being able to add new words introduced during the lessons to your vocabulary list is VERY inconsistent. I simply don’t understand why it will allow you to add only some of the vocabulary that is introduced to your saved list. This is a major problem for me as I must go back and review vocabulary words to retain them. There also seems to be a glitch with how it determines whether a word is weak, medium, or strong. For example, the word Entschuldigung will simply never switch from weak for me no matter how many times I review it correctly. Finally, I wish whatever algorithm they use to determine which words in the review section popped up during practice was better at varying the words more consistently. Having said that, I am definitely enhancing my knowledge of the German language with this app.

Let me start by saying Busuu has helped me improve my German immensely. I love the feature that allows you to practice writing and speaking with the vocabulary just learned. However, I have seen a small percentage of people give corrections on text specifically for those learning English that aren’t completely correct and I wish there was a way to prove that there is a certain standard of fluency that the person grading your exercises has. I love that when teaching vocabulary specifically, there are always lots of example sentences and you can hear them aloud. I wish that after each section you had the option of listening aloud. Overall, I truly love Busuu

I’ve used Rosetta Stone for 5 years, and could barely exchange a greeting. I tried Pimsleur too, both of which are pure rote memorization (no explanations or grammar training). The next best I’ve used is Babbel, which does teach grammar. this app is my favorite because it creates objectives and challenges to achieve. It also has the element of social networking where you can have a friends list, and learn from people who are native speakers of the language(s) you’re learning.

I love Busuu. I am learning to speak German VERY quickly and everyone is very impressed but when I go to my strong, medium, and weak words there’s always one weak word and that happens to be a word that I know how to write and say. I try to improve it with the flash cards and writing quizzes but it never leaves the weak section no matter how hard I try.

Placement test starts a user at the right place instead of making them repeat known content. Trading corrections between native speakers learning different languages is genius. Short clips with visual and audio help with comprehension. Plus it has the common fill in the blank and word ordering type of questions.

I love Busuu this is probably my new favorite it teaches you so much in a short amount of time. I do you have problem once you learn the phrase and go onto the next one it won’t allow you to swipe back and look at it and I would like to do that. Other than that Busuu is awesome!

Level A2 is only okay. Beginning at B1 it assumes you are able to read every lesson in German and figure the rest out in your own. If that’s the case, then it isn’t doing it’s job of getting you there first. Now I have to quit and take an entire course elsewhere to move forward.

The best part is the social aspect and the ability to have native speakers grade your work (and basically teach you everything this app doesn’t).

It for beginners learning a new language. It makes it so you can do it anywhere. I love Busuu so much and I’m attached to it.

I have used this app to learn a little bit of three languages now. Just enough to get by when traveling to foreign countries. I really like its method of teaching language. I switch lessons between this and the other popular language app, and this app is a huge help when traveling!

It is a very good program, but unfortunately the number of German lessons is much lower than other language lessons, e.g. English, and it was not continued at an advanced level. Please add new and more advanced lessons for German language.

So helpful.. it’s also really fun and you don’t get bored with it, it keeps you interested.
Really happy with it I recommend Busuu to anyone who wants to learn languages!

One of the best language apps around. I keep using it with great enjoyment. You get introduced to new structures and vocabulary at a quick speed. Highly recommended

I am really enjoying practicing and learning with this app! The learning platform is very easy to use, and I find it very easy to find time to practice. I do wish that there was an option to translate some of the phrases they give you.

Overall, I love it!

I have to give this app 5 stars. I’ve learned so much German in a very short time. I took German in college in the early ‘70’s and didn’t learn half of what I’ve learned using the this app app. Bravo!

Busuu is amazing I have only been using Busuu for a few days now and I can all ready say sentences in German it makes it fun and keeps it simple.

I like the system of learning! I am making good progress with Busuu!

I’m in intermediate level, around A2 or so. So far it’s great for reinforcing grammar and vocabulary, and practice writing. I have yet to see whether there is good speaking support, which clearly is part of becoming fluent.

I Love Busuu! What better way to learn, if you can’t be in the country itself, than with the assistance of native speakers!?

Has good combination of written and oral exercises. Native speakers saying the words as part of complete sentences within conversations is very efficient
