Just Right

I have a laCie NAS and I needed a way to stream my media to my IPad. SmartStorFusionStreamDLNADigitalMediaApp does a wonderful job. I tried Media Link, but it lacked many key features this application has. The search, playlist, and the ability to come back to a movie later is just great. All of this for free. Make sure your movies are in mp4 format and they will look and play awesome!

Its free for a reason

I used both this version and the one that the Javelin S4 NAS offers (same app) both seems to behave the same way. Most of the time it wouldn't see any servers unless I refreshed several times. Then, after selecting a movie or song to play it would just bomb. It worked a few times but I was never able to listen to a whole song or watch a video to completion.

I ended up sending the Javelin back as well. They are both nice products that might be ready for prime time soon but not quite there yet.

Works well with win 7 wmp 12

SmartStorFusionStreamDLNADigitalMediaApp works swimmingly with a win 7 pc running media player 12 and the dlna features enabled. One complaint is there is no function to add an entire album to your playlist. Having to select every song inividually is tedious.

Needs work

App needs mkv Avi and mpeg support. Also when watching hi def videos, 1080p, the video is slightly shifted to the left leaving a black bar on the right of the screen.

I've tried every streaming app like this on the AppStore and this is the only one that plays my hd files without skipping or freezing but definitely needs some work and more video formats supported.

Great for upnp mp3

SmartStorFusionStreamDLNADigitalMediaApp probably has the best layout for wan mp3 playback via upnp (no smb support). It is better than aceplayer and others because you can create a playlist across multiple directories and doesn't stall out like aceplayer. Its main limitation is codec/format support that can crash SmartStorFusionStreamDLNADigitalMediaApp. All in all, it is a good complement to other upnp apps.

By

Good Start

Has an above average tendency to crash after opening a server source. AirPlay only works for audio (no video). Clean UI and clever playlist construct. The ability to download media for local playback is a bonus but please get the core streaming stable and full video out AirPlay.

Needs more support

I like this application's interface, but it needs more robust audio and video file support! Avi, ac3 etc. Many users out here don't mine paying top dollar for an app. That actually works. Up to now I have tested 19 apps that would provide dlna service with adequate file support. Most just don't work or is ok for directory service. At this I would pay $30 for one that works.

Ok

This is an OK app- needs a lot of improvements.. "search function" never worked. A couple of noted other than the interface needs a redesign: we should be able to play a file on the fly without having to add it to playlist.. Playlist management should be more robust: Swipe to delete... App also crashed a few times on my 4S

Does do what it says, but with a clunky interface

I can connect to my PC with Windows Media Player fine and stream from it as well as control it. But the UI is terribly clunky. An amazing number of taps are needed to get things done, as what you want to do gets buried under a ton of menus and confirmations to make.

By

It works well enough for my IPad 2 & 3

Not the best looking or cleanest user interface I've seen but it works just fine on both my IPads. If the user experience was cleaner and it offered bookmarks for going directly to my media list folder I would give it 4+ stars.

Could be a good app.

I like the design of SmartStorFusionStreamDLNADigitalMediaApp and the fact that you can download a file to your iPad without having to sync your iPad. The major draw back is that the current version does not support avi files.

By

iOS 8 killed it

This was an app I used daily and loved until the iOS 8 update. It is glitchy now and doesn't have available buttons like play, pause, fast forward. It streams but you have no control of it.

By

Love it

Does what it says and works very well with my media server. Have yet to find anything else that compares with free function.

By

No good

All my vid files are avi,mp4, even some Mt2s but SmartStorFusionStreamDLNADigitalMediaApp only plays Mkv files the one file system I don't use because my PS3 and other Media servers don't read it. Would raise to 5 stars if supported more file types, SmartStorFusionStreamDLNADigitalMediaApp finds all my vid files even some other DNLA apps miss it just won't play them you are halfway there to having a great app.

By

Almost good!

Works really well playing my videos stored in my readyshare device! But does not show all the files that I have in the folder! I have 100+ videos and only shows 5

By

Works well, not best layout

Easily found me DLNA folder on freeNAS (you need a DLNA plugin there) and showed by category on my iPad.

Would be a better layout if it was a grid with click to get more details/play.

By

Could be really good

SmartStorFusionStreamDLNADigitalMediaApp worked great with basically no setup, however it freezes a lot and most of the time the video will play, but not the audio. Fix those issues and this would be a more than 5 star app.

By

No sound

Great player for some video. No sound on most. I may be doing something wrong. Using twonky.

Awesome!!!

SmartStorFusionStreamDLNADigitalMediaApp is awesome…It plays my media files from my My Book World Server….Awesome!!!

Interface is ancient but SmartStorFusionStreamDLNADigitalMediaApp works and is free for now…Five star in my book.

Can't play .VOB files

App connected fine to my network and connected to all devices.....unfortunately, it did not recognize my VOB files. 2 stars for now until it has VOB compatibility.

By

Very basic DLNA player

This basically let you browse and play songs from your windows media server. Screen navigation is decent but it doesn't support any music control from bluetooth head phone (also, no next / previous control in the apps). It's good for checking out a DLNA server operation. Also, it can only play native video file format (no AVI).
