Had my setup for about a month. Though a little wonky, I pretty much figured out how the app was laid out and was fine with its functionality. (3***)
Now, not so much. App auto-sets volume on its own, will not hold volume where I adjust it to via app (reverts to 51dB). App also shows power as always on, and when receiver is off, I cannot turn it on via app, only manually or by starting a stream from pandora/Apple Music/etc. The app will allow me to turn receiver off, but upon doing so, the app does not revert to the “system off” page, rather shows system as still on.
If I were more of a power-user, I expect I’d find much more wrong to detail. As is today: 1* and a Sad face. :(
That said, I have to agree with other comments. This app is broken, and for the reputation of the products it is supposed to support, you guys have horrible UX and buggy functionality in your app! Please fix. It’s a shame to have your reputation sullied by something like this.

This app, had I known how horrible it is, would’ve been enough to make me buy a Yamaha instead of this Marantz.
Additionally, my Marantz receiver is so finicky. Sometimes when I change the channel on my DirectTv, the audio just dies. I’ve swapped the HDMI cable, and it still does it. I also swapped the boxes between my bedroom and living room, and the problem stays with the Marantz receiver. It’s still under warranty, but their customer service seems less than interested in assisting. Even after I told them I swapped the cable and the box, they claim it’s the cable or the box. Then they just told me to “take it to a repair center.” Zero communication about where one is, what companies they deal with to repair it, covering shipping and/or repair costs, or anything.
I wish I had just bought the Yamaha I was looking at.

Mind this : if you want to purchase a Marantz for the sound quality , you are in for a good treat. If you want an AVR on WiFi with app capabilities , run away . As fast as you can. The app is not working 75% of the times. One week everything is fine , then 3 weeks is down, a month. It doesn’t matter it’s because the latest update or the new update or bugs or else . It’s the most pitiful app I’ve ever used in smart home devices ( yes worse than Whirlpool). I owned a NR1606 - NR1607 and 08. This has been going on for 3 or more years : the app remote control doesn’t work 75% of the time . Doesn’t connect. Doesn’t find the AVR in the network. Doesn’t work when the previous 2 are working. I think the programmers used their feet to develop this app. A shame . Marantz change your app contractor, pick someone that knows how to do the job for once .
