It’s a REAL tool not a list of inspirational quotes

I am giving a explanation because I think I’m not the only one that avoids mental health apps and want to reassure them that WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp is nothing like any of the other apps. Also as a genuine thank you to the developer 🙏

Nothing is worse than thinking something can help you just to find out it is filled with “live love laugh”, “you’re special”, “omg mercury in retrograde”. That’s all nice but it is shallow and unhelpful. Some apps with breathing exercises and cutesy quotes really make me feel invalidated and that feeling better is just as easy as namaste. That if you just say the word “positive” over and over nothing bad will ever happen. So when I found WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp I was sooooo happy. I share it with anyone overwhelmed by their mental state and especially when they had little resources available.

I have severe anxiety attacks from PTSD and WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp has saved my life. It is clear the developer is a professional and is focused on helping people get grounded and understand their emotions on a deeper level. Sometimes there is just no level of advice that takes the intensity of an emotion away. Sometimes you are just going to feel but this helped me through that in one piece and educated me on how to identify what I need.

Cons of the Forums

Provides easy and immediate access to coping strategies and techniques that users can rely when experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress. Users are give information to understand their feelings and emotions, as well as ways they can break the cycle of feeling this way. However, forums should be better controlled. Anyone can post anything, which can be hurtful to users, especially teens. Although it is said that WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp is for anyone that is 4 years old and older, children that do not know how to read will not be able to use it. Individuals that are visually impaired will not be able to use it either.

An interesting point that was made by Steinberg (2014) is that the pain that adolescence experience when they are social rejected “closely resembles physical pain in neurological terms that taking acetaminophen, the active ingredient in Tylenol, actually can help alleviate it” (95). Being socially rejected is a painful experience for teens that can definitely make things worse for those that are already struggling. Based on the review criteria above and my own experience with What’s Up, I would rate WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp a 3 out 5. What’s Up has many different coping strategies and techniques that users can access whenever they are in need of it. However, individuals can post whatever they want on the forums that can potentially harm users.

My absolute favorite app for anxiety

Love love love it. I've suffered from depression and anxiety for years. Many mental health apps have come and gone but I've kept this one consistently (longer than almost any other) since it offers such quick, clear help. I use it mostly for anxiety for quick help, for my depression for more general help. When you're really freaking out (or just a bit!) this is the easiest one I've found to get quick help where I don't have to think too much about how to use WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp itself in order to let it help me. Open WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp , top choice is "Help Right Now" - so simple! Click it and the choice is equally clear "Stop!" Click that and it walks you through a short series of actions to calm you down and bring you back to reality. So many of the others are too wordy or too many bells and whistles; you can’t find your way around or if I do find my way usually it’s difficult to find the helpful parts again, esp. if I’m really in crisis. When I'm not in a crisis, the rest of WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp is equally helpful and gives lots of clear good ideas of techniques for overall feeling better. Keep up the good work you guys and thank you so so so much for all many times of WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp's support and calming me down and helping me back to reality.

Very useful! Thank you

I've trued so many apps that help you check in with yourself and calm down, or become more aware of your surroundings instead of your feelings and etc. None of them have ever really helped despite me wishing they could. They have too many features and I'll get confused and even more frustrated. WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp is so simple and rounded that I was able to navigate it while starting to go into a panic and then found the right tools to help me calm down. It reminded me to breathe and think of this moment and I'm so grateful, these times have been hard. Thank you so much to the developer(s); I am happy to have donated to such a genuine app. :^)

Edit to my review: I still like to use WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp for the tools it has, but I don't use it nearly as much. The forums are also pretty bad and could make someone feel worse than they already do since there's so much drama and uncensored content on there. I can tell most of the people on there are teens or kids, which isn't the developer's fault, but it does have a negative effect on WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp overall.

This is exactly what I’ve been looking for!

I’ve only just started using WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp, but let me tell you, I am already in love with it! I feel like anyone could benefit from using this. It is very user friendly and even has a wonderful orientation in the beginning that helps you get started. I think my favorite feature is the chat forum. I really like that you can post what you’re feeling, ask for advice, etc. and people can reply to you. And everyone is always so nice! It’s honestly a very positive app! If I could suggest anything to be added, it would be a private chat feature or something along those lines. The only reason I say that is because you will definitely find people you relate to and want to keep talking to, but the only way to do that is by replying to their post which is out in the open for everyone to see. Other than that WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp is phenomenal! I highly recommend it to everyone!

👏👏👏

I’m very impressed! WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp is everything that’s right, honestly. I was so skeptical. I have several diagnosis including C-PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury, Panic Disorder, bipolar 1, agoraphobia, dissociation, etc. If I have a bad enough panic attack, I lose nights of sleep, which triggers my bipolar mania. I can have panic attacks because I’m afraid of having a panic attack. I work hard for my stability and if I think I’m losing it I fall apart.

My point is, WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp helps me tremendously when I’m triggered. It grounds me in ways I’ve heard of in therapy but haven’t been able to utilize during episodes. Now that these proven methods are all in one app, I can use them without much effort.

Yesterday I called a crisis line. When that didn’t work I figured I’d look for anything else to help. It’s the weekend and it’s New Years, my counselor isn’t available. WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp is always there; when it’s late, the weekend, anytime.

If you struggle at all with any aspect of your mental health, I highly recommend WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp. Especially if you have panic attacks or things like ptsd or agoraphobia. It could save you hours or days of recovery time.

To the creator(s) of WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp. From the bottom of my black-and-blue heart, thank you 🙏

UPDATE: I do not recommend the forums they are toxic. Everything else 10/10

Amazing!

My favorite app right now. Everything is well put together. I've tried from the breathing exercises to games to distract me from my anxiety and panic attacks and more. I also love the forum feature. I like to help other people and up lift them. As well as post when I need some advice or some cheering up or have any questions. There's also a diary feature that only you can see and you can write and keep track of so many things like your moods. This is very effective. Most of the things here are things that my therapist has talked about. She would tell me to keep a journal and do a helpful exercises and now I can do them from WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp and keep a record of them. WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp is very friendly and very helpful. You can tell the creator/ creators where thinking of people in mind.

IN LOVE

This is such an informative, simple to use app! I’ve tried several of the ‘self-help meditation’ apps and none of them have worked/helped. However, WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp has been a lifesaver. What’s Up has calmed me (multiple times) while having active anxiety attacks in public and at home. THIS IS AMAZING TO ME. The breathing techniques and affirmations are among my favorite things it has - and that’s just the beginning of what WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp offers 🤗 I love how discreet it is; if I’m in public without headphones I don’t have to worry about people overhearing what I’m doing on my phone.

This is an incredible app all around. The developers are doing great work. I highly recommend downloading it!!

Thank You

The concept of WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp warms my heart immensely. The fact that everything on it is free really shows that the main goal wasn't to make a profit, but to truly help those in need of it. My anxiety attacks have been increasing in frequency, and I've been using WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp every time I have had one and honestly it's been changing my life. The journaling and coping strategies are available to me wherever and if I start to get disappointed in myself or embarrassed for having an anxiety attack I read the quotes and affirmations. There's so much information and so much help here and it has truly changed my life. Thank you.

An Absolutely Sublime Tool

By far the best designed app I have found both in function and content for CBT support. Upon installing WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp and browsing the content, I was exuberant! It feels like WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp was created just for me and the knowledge I learned during my recent hospitalization. Thank you for creating this and sharing it. I'm doing my best to share with others and can only hope the developer will continue to provide updates and support for this essential tool (in my personal toolbox).

Not very usable to VoiceOver users

I found out about WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp while reading an article online. I downloaded it because I like many other apps I’m looking for a method to log my thoughts when going through major depression or an anxiety attack. As soon as I download it, and rent it I realized the voiceover is not even able to see any of the objects on the screen. Even with screen recognition on, while it is able to read the front page, I am unable to activate any of the controls. Please make WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp accessible. Lots of people can benefit from something like this. Thanks. I would be more than happy to donate to your project as well as rate you higher if WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp gets fixed.

Toxic Community, but not their fault

The regular app is fine, but the main reason anyone uses it is the forum. That place is absolutely horrible for your health. It is filled to the brim with depressing post after depressing post. People create these close bonds, which seems great, until your best online friend posts that they’re about to hurt themself. It is just a forum where extremely unhealthy children post very depressing things. You don’t feel alone anymore, but you are now part of a community that isolates you and bogs you down with horrible ideas. If you get WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp and are in a really bad state of mind, the forum will not help you.

Great!

This is a wonderful app. I’ve been in CBT therapy for the past year. I decided to download some CBT apps, and I’ve since deleted all of them except this one. I particularly like the catastrophe scale as well as the diary, which allows you to rate your feelings and check off which types of faulty thinking you may be doing. The help right now section is great. Also great quotes and affirmations. Thank you to the developers!

Best app for anxiety ever

I am diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder and this is the best app to help me calm down. It has actionable methods that it walks you through as you do them. It had great positive quotes but that’s not all WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp is unlike many other anxiety apps. My favorite section is the grounding techniques that lead you through the five senses. It helps me calm down so much. Thanks so much to the creators of WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp.

My Favorite App

WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp has helped me with my emotional stability day-in-and-day-out. I've always wanted something like this so I'm glad I found WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp! The features include advice, exercises, journal entries, a forum, etc. There is so much information included. The interface is nice and clean too. It would be nice if WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp had relaxing music as well, but that's not really needed.

Really helps

WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp helped me with getting my thoughts written down and gave helpful metaphors and explanations that helped me better understand my own mind and behaviour however WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp is kind of glitchy and when I go into another page buttons will overlap and become illegible
Please fix in future updates

Amazing!

WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp is the best. The resources are extensive. It's totally anonymous. The forums relate to me and the environment is safe, welcoming, respectful, and caring. I feel valued and understood. The other tools are great. It's literally mental health support at my fingertips 24/7. The developer allows the user to choose to make a small donation which is totally worth it many times over!!

Best app ever

I have been seeking an app to help me manage my life and I came across what’s up and i am completely blown away. I have literally just started using it and I love it. You can tell that that thought and sincerity was put into making WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp. It’s completely free unless you want different themes and it’s perfect!

A hidden gem - lots of good resources and helpful advice for depression and anxiety

It may not be the flashiest app but there are a lot of great resources in here. I find myself coming back to it often and feel like every time I discover a new feature or just rediscover something that speaks to me.

Hoping for something that could actually help

I was looking for a CBT app that could help me understand and cope with my intrusive BDD thoughts. Instead, I got an app full of basic platitudes and an option to journal (wow so revolutionary). The fonts are ugly, the layout is not user friendly, and the options for help are extremely limited. Go with something like Youper if you’re looking for habit/mood tracking, because WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp was just... not it.

Work so well...thank you so much

I have waves of anxiety and stress most of my days now because of certain things that are happening in my life. Using this does help me so much... it snaps me back into reality and has lots of different ways to help me manage my stress, emotions and over thinking.
Seriously, THANK YOU 🙏🏼

fantastic

I’ve only just gotten to where the themes are explained and I already adore WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp, it’s incredibly frustrating when you attempt to get help but an app forces you to pay to unlock it but WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp is forth coming with all of it and for that I already adore it.

Incredible!

Such an awesome reliable app to turn to when things start to travel down hill. It’s extremely user friendly and very helpful, my favorite on there is the “get grounded” it’s so so helpful it distracts me easily and I completely forget about what I was worrying myself with!

Best helping app I ever got

I've been through tons of meditation and helping apps and this is the BEST by far. It's helped me more than my therapist has and I have to pay her $40 a visit. WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp provides real help using cognitive behavioral therapy and has changed my life thank you for WhatsUpAMentalHealthApp
