Works well and has big impact

I never write reviews but I will chime in on this app I’ve found after a week I’m reducing mindless checking of phone and saving quite a bit of battery life during the day as a good side effect.

Checky works quite well, much better than other ‘trackers’ I’ve seen which require explicit start/stop/pause. Checky works quite well in the background . I’d like to see them add more options and (such as, if you check to get a phone call, you could exclude that one in the count) and keeping track of stats longer than a week.

Overall great, I’ll keep using it for sure.

Caution: the app won’t work if you disable the location service

If you just want to know how many times you check your phone each day, Checky does a good job. Showing you exactly how many times are you swiped your phone open to check messages, respond to notifications. However, you need to enable your location service all the time. Even if Checky is just running in the background, it’s tracks your location all the time. Once you disable the locator service Checky stopped working. This is very annoying and unnecessary which is why I decided to uninstall Checky .

Verdict: if you want an app just tell you how many times you check your phone, do not mind the location service being on 24/7, . Then Checky is for you.

Review

I’ve had Checky for a little over a week now and i thought it was going to be very useful. The only notification i turned off was, “notify me when stops running”. Obviously, i have used and checked my phone at least 10 times yesterday. I have checked everyday and the results aren’t even budging. Still telling me 0 for everyday. Clearly this is working and isn’t worth my time. Just thought i should put out my honest opinion instead of making someone waste their space like i did.

Good idea, terrible execution

I don’t write reviews but Checky is really frustrating. I have an iPhone 7 Plus. Checky is difficult to use, doesn’t count unless location services are fully on for it, which results in Checky needing to be open at all times to track. This then results in having a blue nav banner at the top of your screen that doesn’t go away without closing Checky completely, and that burns your battery like crazy when it’s on. Finally, it didn’t event count accurately. Would not recommend. Needs a lot of R&D.

Does one job and does it well!

Very nice. Simplicity is great! Awareness of how often you check your phone is an important step of decreasing unnecessary time spent on it. For those who question about location tracking- they use location services so that it can constantly run in the background.

Could be, but...

Why the location enabled service? I don't need to know where I opened my phone. Maybe if it didn't locate then none of the data could go back Checky maker. I don't mean "data" as in personal but perhaps Checky maker wants to sell ads on the bottom and they can use impressions as a way to prove viability. Ah..give me an option to pay. Rather you charge me for it.

Needs Improvement

I do suggest Checky for people that want to see how many times they turn on their phone, but Checky doesn't have everything. It's nice & all & I don't think that loosing battery is a big problem but, I would like to knoe how many HOURS I SPEND on my PHONE. So, if this were to be updated, please add that into Checky. I think it would be great.

Why do you need my location??

Quite frankly, I do not want anyone, especially not a giant corporation, to know exactly where I am and exactly where I was at any point in time. Every, and I mean every, passive time-tracking app I have tried has required location services to be on at all times. Why does it even need my location? Why is there no option for it not to track my location and just how many times I check my phone? Come on.

It works but....

Checky does what it says it will but unfortunately the battery usage was too much. The constant need to GPS almost killed my phone battery half way through my day when a full charge would normally last all day. I don't see the need to have it track you when all it should do is keep track of how many times you use your phone.

Useful but limited

It only tells you how many times you checked your phone. I also wish it said how much time you've spent on your phone in the last 24 hours (or user set time frame)

I realize you can look at that in your settings but it's a pain to do so.

So please put length of time in your next sprint!

Great idea but crashes all the time - April 2015

I love Checky , what makes it unusable is it stops working all the time and a battery drain due to the location use. Why not charge me and not use location and make app run in the background. Will revise the rating as Checky improves in the next version.

Answers A Good Question

Checky is pretty cool, yesterday I checked my phone 115 times.. Kind of eye opening for me. I did that unlock motion 115 separate times. Anyways, I think two very cool features to make Checky even better would be; Map of unlocks for the previous day, or days, instead of just today; Average recorded unlocks of all users.

By

One more thing!

Checky is alright. What would make it way better is something that makes it available for us to see easily how much hours we spend per day.

Very Simple, Very Functional

Checky is fantastic and simple (like the Calm app)! I have recently made it a personal goal to check my phone less, and Checky is the perfect tool! Thanks this app and the Calm team!

Virus

Checky is not compatible with my phone so I deleted it but after that weard stuff happened like my battery draining really fast and not being able to delete Checky every time I download any app this one also downloads without my concent and Checky will not apear in the settings either

Stopped working

I've used Checky for a year. Every once in a while it would miss a day or two of counts. For the past two weeks I haven't been able to get any count. Such a shame I really am curious about my usage

Awesome app

It helps me avoid checking my phone all the time like a jerk. I always try to keep my checks low and it seriously improves my productivity.

Ads block content, crash problems

I’m using an iPhone 8s and the banner ad at the bottom of the screen blocks what appears to be a bar graph that would show my daily phone usage. Since I can’t see it, this part is useless. Also, every time I touch the location icon in the upper right corner Checky crashes.

Works great to tracking opening my phone

I’ve had it for a day, and it works great. But I’m supposed to be able to see a map of where I look at my phone, and every time I try it crashes Checky .

By

Pretty much useless.

It only tracks how many times you've checked your phone if you have Checky open and running in the background. I'm not going to leave Checky open 24/7 and kill my battery. I'm pretty consistent about closing apps compulsively, even to the point where I don't realize I'm doing it. Not useful for me at all.
