Poor association

Part of leaving feedback is that it is accurate and helps one make a good decision for themselves. There have been some founders and users here being attached to Hero911 and really wanting it to be great. Members have gone as for to re-review people maybe like myself when they have received feedback. There have been some reviews of too many alerts and let me explain what would be great. this app has limited settings to make this effective for the violence that you can have an impact on. Basically you get what anyone posts even when it not in your effective area even a mile out of your area could be the distance that makes it unusable and more like news. I hope it can rapidly save lives. It’s still a social environment like the news. It’s limited to active officers and vets. Which historically civilians have a much higher rate of success in communicating situations that are violent to authorities or civilians around that can help. Really if there was an app like this that was civilian based with a narrow geo fence that civilians armed or not could support a situation that would really save lives 10 fold. Facebook should consider a option to report a crime, register your CCW License or law enforcement options when you register would have the effect that is proposed here. They are international and have the biggest effective user base. Everyone reading this probably already has a Facebook page and doesn’t need more news.

Alerts for no reason.

You are only given on chance to enter your ID. This should change or be able to be updated later.

Also, now my phone goes off with an alert, several times a day, just to tell me that I have been accepted. Great concept, but very annoying at this stage in Hero911 .

USBP PA

So I’m sitting in restaurant and the alarm goes off and disturbs everyone. Hero 911 sends no info. They need to un-F*^[K themselves!!! Next time this occurs I’m hitting DELETE.

Good idea

But slow to get info out-

Delayed info

I was initially told this was an app so officers could respond to a local active shooter, even off duty. We had a local active shooter and I got an alert 6 hours later. I’m not sure how that is helpful.

App crashes immediately on iPhone XR

Last version immediately crashed on open, just got notification to update and new version is doing the same thing. Dunno what got broke, but Hero911 is completely non-functional now.

Inferior

There are Breaking News apps that provide significantly better reports of noteworthy incidents almost immediately after. There are times I don’t receive updates until 12 hrs later if at all using Hero911. It’s fairly useless.

Waste of time doesn’t work any more

Application no longer works and when you try to login as a previous member it just stays on the frozen screen saying searching don’t waste your time with us anymore they clearly dropped the ball

Worthless

Hero911 hasn’t covered a shooting since September and doesn’t give adequate notification.
There was a school shooting 3 hours prior to me writing this, no notification, not is it on their page when you click on the US icon at the bottom.

I am a Fed LEO and a Guard member.
The DoD pays for me to have the Dataminer First Alert app, it’s available to others.
Far better sources with numerous setting options.
I have on occasion received notifications prior to dispatched units arriving on scene.

Everyone understand that timely notifications is paramount in active shooter incidents, this app need to step up its game

App not working.

I have an IPhone 13 Pro Max with the current IOS updates. Now when I click on this app after having it since it came out it just closes immediately. I went to check because I have not received any messages or update in awhile. I click on Hero911 it goes to the Home Screen and immediately closes.

Useless app!

I don’t receive notifications until late, or not at all. I tried to log in and it asks for my badge number, but we don’t use them! So now what? I’ve been a member for several years but I don’t find this useful at all especially since there is no “contact us” email to resolve issues like mine.

I can no longer log in! The system does not recognize my phone nor my email!!

So far I find this completely useless and inoperative.

Worthless compared to any news outlet

I got Hero911 after my police academy instructor recommended it, saying it was a must for first responders and how you had to be “authorized” to download it. Highly disappointed as I barely receive any alerts of major incidents and usually find out via Facebook news before this ever even goes off. Even when it does go off, it doesn’t provide any detail into the alert. Not worth keeping and don’t bother downloading.

Today’s new update

Just did the update. Once it completed I tried to open Hero911 and it immediately crashed and disappeared. This now occurs every time I try to open Hero911 . Because I did the update I now can no longer open Hero911 . Please help. Hero911 worked fine prior to the update.

Great in Theory

Things I like: news and updates for shootings all over the country long before any national coverage gets it out

Dislike: Hero911 is great in theory. What it fails to take into account is how many teachers in schools have no training or experience in life or death scenarios. A shadow lingers across their outside window, and BAM they’re hitting the this app alert on School Guard. 2 kids are fighting in the cafeteria: time to hit Hero911 again. Teachers also loving testing new programs to see how well they work... A school I work in implemented a similar program through their computers, and they found around 5 of the 150 teachers were hitting the panic alert daily. Cops are trained in what scenarios are actually dangerous. Teachers teach.

Like I said. Hero911 is great in theory, but I don’t trust 90% of teachers to know when not to push the button and to remember to push it when adrenaline puts them in Condition Black.

Decent concept but needs improvement

My main complaint is that when I receive a notification, I look at my phone and see very abbreviated info. I then unlock my phone and that notification goes away. I open Hero911 and there is absolutely no information there at all.
How do I find out about the active incident?!? I end up checking other sources to find out basic details as they're released.

As it stands, Hero911 is 90% useless. It just notifies me that something is happening somewhere. I have to rely on other sources to find out any more than that.

Great Concept But...

I just downloaded Hero911 about three weeks ago and have noticed a few things.

1) For some reason having Hero911's location service always going it ends up draining the battery on my phone really fast

2) I have received quick alerts that flash across my screen but when I open Hero911 to read them I can't find any information at all.

3) Other officers are also having issues with Hero911 opening correctly.

Overall great concept but it has some bugs that need to be worked out ASAP otherwise there will be officers deleting it because it is not user aka cop friendly.

Ok

Needs better setting controls , got potential

Good stuff

Text message follow up for awareness messages - no more disappearing issues on my phone. This isn't a news report folks, it's a heads up. Not a big deal to turn on the news if you want details of something happening that you wouldn't know about without Hero911 . The active shooter app is a different animal. App went off during a live drill at a college with the guard911 service a few months back. Pretty slick with location info and running ticker.

Hero911 is Listening

Thanks for all the feedback. We have a new version coming out shortly that has a link in Hero911 for the National Situational Awareness Messaging System (NSAMS) some people are talking about here. This is just an informational messaging system to help keep LEOs posted about what is going on in the U.S.

The real core of Hero911 is the immediate notifications for protected properties when an active shooter is spotted. This has been used in many real world situations.

Hero911 app updates

Hero911 was just updated, both primary features work great! Feature 1, true alert dedicated to all officers in a 10-15 mile radius near a major active armed assault event reported by Guard911, Feature 2, nationwide awareness low key push message to all officers (all locations) announcing any rapid mass murder event pulled from early media sources. Thank you!
