After ordering sensors, I discovered Stelo does not display properly on the mini. The icons needed to operate app do not display. Bottom 20% of app pages are covered up. Renders spp and sensors useless. I tried to cancel my order but could not. Of course there is no phone number either. So now I have $100 paper weights.
Have not been able to complete Stelo setup process. I'm stuck on the second part of the process, linking with Bluetooth. It tells me that Bluetooth access is restricted and that I need to go to settings to use this feature. When I click on Settings it takes me to this app's setting section but there is no button there allowing me to establish a Bluetooth connection. So I go back to the this app app and try again, and again, and again. Can't find anything on the web that explains this problem. Bluetooth is turned on and works with several of my apps without a problem.
When I visit the Dexcom site I can't find a solution. When I click on their help bot it takes me to the search bar. I type in my question and it tells me there's nothing they can find in their database in regards to my query.
So I'm out of luck. Absolutely no customer support. No way to contact them!
My husband is getting an error that Stelo can’t verify his country. We are in the US. The website shows his account and shows that it has the US for him in his account info. We have a same iPhone version and Stelo worked for me.
We have followed troubleshooting instructions to delete Stelo , restart the phone, and reinstall Stelo , but the same error occurs. The bot offered a complaint form but it wouldn’t let us access the form because it says that we don’t have cookies enabled. We do have cookies enabled so we are at a dead-end for him. Please fix the county verification issue in Stelo or provide a way to for us to discuss this with a human.
Lets get to it. Here are my top complaints: 1) recorded events (eg meals, workouts, etc) are only showing for last couple days. I dont see anything from previous week. Not sure if data was lost or if it doesnt allow to look back further, 2) logged events are not shown on glucose graph so you have to navigate between 2 tabs and cross reference. Fix this. Show events on the graph!, 3) graph only lets you look back 24 hours! Come on. Each sensor lasts 14 days, 4) no data export function so you need to integrate to apple health to do this which is very roundabout, 5) senor randomly losses signal though phone is me. Happens couple times a day now. I want my money back
There is no email for customer service. The only support offered is a list of articles or a useless chat bot. Every other company offers an email support ticket system, but not this app. Stelo offers no way to see what you glucose measurement was ast a given point in the past. The chart shows dots on a graph and the latest measurement, but graph doesn’t give a specific number for those dots within the range. There is no way to click on a past dot to know what the number is. Also, the only macro you can track is carbs. Having other macros tracked helps to see if fat or protein affect BG spikes. Overall, it is something more than nothing, but for the price you can get Lingo that has a better app. And the lack of transparent support from this app is shameful.
On some occasions I have noticed that the peak value on a spike in the graph does not match the numbers for the same timestamp that are sent/synced 3 hours later (the data that gets stored in Apple Health data on the iphone). For example Stelo graph said my 2:00 reading was 139 but later when I looked at the value for 2:00 in the Apple Health data it was 141. There was another discrepancy 3 hours later. This could be a bug in either updating Apple Health or a bug in the way Stelo makes the graph. At any rate discrepancies like this lower my confidence in this product.
Stelo needs work. After 15 days with my first sensor I replaced it with my 2nd. It did not go well. After the new sensor Stelo showed me my glucose levels but clicking anything else would freeze Stelo to the point of being useless. The Chatbot support instructed me to reinstall Stelo . I did a clean reinstall that unfortunately wiped out all of the history I had recorded in the Notes part of Stelo . I had looked prior to the reinstall and could find no way to backup, print or export these notes. I now record glucose history in a separate file. Stelo still occasionally freezes. I reported this info in a Dexcom support ticket. The history is lost but perhaps the will address the freezing and lack of Notes export. Running IOS 18 on a iPhone 15 Pro Max.
It only keeps 2-3 days history, which I found after entering every meal data for a week and they were all gone now except last 2 days.
Stelo only writes glucoses data to Apple health so basically I lost all my contexts why there were spikes.
Then why do we need to keep Event even I can just remember.
I was so happy with this sensor and app for the first two weeks. Everything was smooth and easy, though I agree with other reviewers that it’s a pain to need your phone within 20 feet of you all the time.
My problems came with the second sensor. I followed the instructions and disconnected the first one from my blue tooth and got rid of it before inserting the second one.
In the middle of warming up I got an alert that the session had ended early and I needed to remove the sensor. How the session can end before it begins I do not know!
Turns out the only fix is to file a complaint, there’s no reset or reboot feature. The form was easy to fill out and I received a replacement sensor.
This time I was very, very careful. I followed all the instructions to a T, double checked all my phone settings, plugged my phone in and sat with it on my lap to wait for the 27 minutes of warm up. Half way through I got another alert that my session had ended early and I needed to remove the second BRAND NEW sensor.
I am so disappointed!! I was super excited those first two weeks with everything I was learning, but now I feel like I’m chasing my tail with technology that hasn’t been fully refined. Frustrating!
This is a good system and a good app with one truly massive flaw. I understand that this app is mostly meant for pretty well controlled diabetes, but hiding data that is over 250 is a super weird, bad choice. The message is essentially “yeah that’s super high and you should do something about it,” which, while obviously true, leaves the user totally in the dark. Worse, it just starts reporting all 250s which is not just unhelpful, it is *false*. What it suggests to me, frankly, is that there’s probably some other reason, like maybe this app loses accuracy over 250. How are we to know? That doesn’t seem right though, because Dexcom does keep and use the numbers over 250 in Clarity. Limiting is an awful design decision I can’t really imagine an honest defense for. The user should know what their level is. That’s the job. Seems simple. I will gladly add at least 2 stars to this review if they change that, because this app is otherwise really well put together.
This is a basic app with little help. Gives you your glucose but inputting food is like a 90s app. You’d think they would have a connection to all the food sources. Type in Chipotle and it pulls up infor, but nothing. You have to go figure it out and add it manually. Hopefully the Abbott app will be better when it comes out.
Got my this app 3 days ago, it reads 20 points lower than well established finger stick testing system. Suffers from false compression lows (like all CGMs) but weak in no calibration, it would be enough for me if Stelo provided for deleting false lows so the time in range would be a useful number. Probably will not continue after a month with only some slightly useful information from this system.
Stelo is adequate. It does not allow you to freely zoom in and out of the timeline. It doesn’t allow you to scroll back before 24 hours. It only shows your events on the horizontal view and then only as small dots at the bottom of the view rather than on the data itself (e.g. as a vertical line through the data). A lot could be done to improve this.
Stelo works well, but it does give you spike Alerts, and you can add events to your spike alerts. The unfortunate part is if you look back at your history and you didn’t have time when the spike alert occurred to enter what you ate. It will be in the history and it tells you to add an event of what happened, but it does not give a date only, the time there’s no way of knowing what day you had a spike alert to figure out what you ate to enter unless you do it immediately during spike. It also does not save anything earlier than 24 hours as far as data which is unfortunate. I would like to be able to see more history, more charting over a months time. For the price I was hoping for a bit more data and may have to go to another platform eventually that provides it
I got the pair of this app sensors on a subscription to measure my sugar levels, learn what causes spikes and how to keep myself healthy.
The sensor ordering process was smooth, the insertion videos were helpful and got into my arm. The sensor is a little painful to wear while sleeping, apart from that, I don’t notice it much. It takes blood glucose estimates regularly and plots it in a graph. There are daily, 3 days and weekly stats of average levels and 3,6,12 hour graphs for the day to day. While these basic features work well, there is so much to improve.
1. food tracking is ridiculously bad. I have to use another app, track my calories and foods and come back and enter into Stelo. Defeats the purpose when I need to use multiple apps, then insert everything into Apple health and do analysis myself.
2. Need your phone always near you for tracking to work. Wish they could pair with my Apple Watch which is always on my wrist instead of the phone or increase the range of the sensor
3. Analysis and reporting is too basic and correlations to physical activity, sleep
Levels, stress and other measurements are non existent
I canceled my subscription and would return when they fix these must have features to enable a better lifestyle.
You can’t look at times of individual readings. I wanted to see how low I got in the middle of the night and at what time and it doesn’t show that. Also seems to run about 10 over what my blood glucose monitor states.
For what Stelo offers right now it seems to work well. However, the data availability is very limited. I would like to be able to view or download all readings , rather than only see the latest reading and the general trend, as it’s not possible to zoom in on precise readings from the graph alone.
I’ve been using the this app app and cgm for about a month. I noticed that this app estimates the sensor should last about 2 weeks. Unfortunately on both sensors I used over the last month the accuracy of the readings dropped about 2 days before the estimated end date and shut off completely a day before. I was using finger sticks to check the values and when the battery is strong they are fairly aligned. I’m going to give it one more month and if the cgms have the same issue I may try out Abbot’s version of the over the counter cgm. Overall when the cgm is working the values are good and really helps to better identify what is causing my glucose spikes.
I had my monitor for a little over a week and it stopped working. Stelo indicates that readings are being taken, but it’s not being documented on the graph that shows my various levels. I wish there was a way to look back at all the data so I can make better comparisons, I had to create my own XL spreadsheet so I can see the changes for various strategies such as exercising after meals, drinking vinegar before meals, cooking and refrigerating, and then reheating pasta, order of food intake, etc . Adding insult to injury, there is no way to contact someone and discuss concerns other than through a form. I’m disappointed that it all stopped working for me as I thought it was very helpful in preventing metabolic issues. It’s an expensive tool given it only worked for a week.
Initially, Apple Watch displayed current numbers; it got to just showing three dashes but would open if clicked; now, it does not show on the screen at all, and it can’t be clicked.
Recently started using this and the readings have been consistent. Haven’t confirmed with a finger poke or serum but that’s ok. Easy to use app, straightforward set up and small CGM are all great. Here are the things they need to work on:
- the fact you can’t look back at >24 hours for your specific glucose levels is ridiculous. This is the only way to figure out trends and compare different changes you’ve made (meals, activities, sleep, etc). There is a weekly summary but that is much less helpful
- a widget would be incredibly helpful so I can simply glance at my lock screen to know what my current glucose level is. Then I wouldn’t need to open Stelo every time
- they should try to sync with multiple food apps such as MyFitnessPal, Carb Manager and others that are popular. This way you can see how your food affects your levels and the window your glucose goes up after eating
- same thing for sleeping apps besides Apple Health. Sleep has a big correlation with prediabetes and diabetes risk so it should be included to see trends
For now it’s ok and cheap but if they put a little work to it, it has the potential to be life changing for so many people.
It only shows the data for the past 24 hours. It would be a lot more useful if we can see ALL the data. I would also like to be able to zoom in and out both in time (x axis) and in glucose values (y axis), not just the 4 presets current in Stelo .
I’m not sure if this is an isolated issue but this app app on Apple watch is not syncing with iPhone. Instead, I get a message to ‘Check this app app on iPhone’. I’ve checked everywhere on Stelo but could not figure out what I need to check or do? Would be great at some point if it can connect directly with watch like the G7. Please, add widget too.
Whew! Where to begin…I signed up for a this app BioSensor from an Ad on IG.
Mistake #1(?)
Maybe with all the HYPE about CMG’s this app felt the pressure to bring a “product to market; before it was ready…?”🤷🏻♀️
Like several people mentioned, I too was looking for a way to be pro-active about my health…before I got Diabetes.
I have Fasted consistently for 2 years and monitored my Glucose and Ketones, thru a finger stick.
The Continuous BioSensor CAN be convenient, IF it worked as advertised. When I look at my charts… it’s giving me Readings “that look like Hiccups” Clearly the unit is Failing.
I’m 1/2 thru the 15 day life. I purchased in advance the “extra adherent bandage looking covers for it. That’s not the issue.
Classic tech company behavior… No Live Staff to reach out to … You initially can Chat with a 🤖… then the Bot says “log into your Account for more assistance/information/FAQ…
Speaking of Tech… Can we say “infinite loop?”
None of it is helpful to say…”Can you just send a Replacement Unit?” No email.. no #’s, Live Chat is a Bot…
This feels like 🩸Theranos🩸
The upside is … I’ve only invested $100 here.
Values are not shown in Apple Health. I checked the privacy settings. this app app has Read/Write enabled.
We need to be able to tap on individual data points and notes from the landscape screen, so it’s easier to identify trends.
This is a working device but not a mature app. Customer service is totally hands off from support. You are forced to use support through their this app Bot that cannot understand or comply with a request like “I want to connect to a human.” Nope. You will never get a refund due to inoperability. You are sent another device. The FAQs are limited and does not address simple issues like allow for ranges of target glucose to be changed. this app will not specify the exact number if out of the target on the low side.
The device has never agreed with my blood glucose meter. As much as 30 mg/dl off of my blood glucose meter. So wow! Which one is right? I’m not relying on the this app!
App works fine in iOS 18 but the spike and digest update lock up sometimes. Also the watchOS complication hardly ever works and always is blank or when you click it tells you to open Stelo on the phone which then does nothing with watch. So not sure what’s up.. this also happened in watchOS 10 and 11 as well as iOS 17 and 18. Please update this.
Also for all others you can login and use the Dexcom Clarity app to get all the data and ranges there. Even shows the reading above the top range set. So you can see the range you hit above 250 for example.
Received my first sensors yesterday and it seems to be working fine. Not sure how accurate readings are but after reading it can take sensor as long as a couple days to fully calibrate I’m hoping my readings will start being closer to what my finger sticks are. Like others, would be nice to be able to look back previous days to see patterns. I’m getting extended periods of time with “below 70” readings, would be really helpful if it told me what the actual level was for these low readings. Last night while sleeping readings showed 3-4 hour period of continuous low readings. No way to know what actual levels were. I’m sure if I told my doctor I’m “below 70” 23% of a 24 hour period his first question would be “how low “. Stelo is new and has tons of potential, hopefully will see additional features on near future. Also hope sensor calibration completes soon and readings are more in line with my finger sticks. Really nice not having to stick 7-8 times a day.
UPDATE- My readings are coming closer to my finger sticks. More importantly, after doing some research I learned that the Dexcom Clarity App is compatible with the this app sensor. Stelo incorporates all the information from the this app and provides a wealth of information including reports that can be downloaded and saved on your computer or even shared with your health provider. The Clarity app used in combination with the this app sensor is a game changer.
I downloaded the this app app by Dexcom. I tried to make one of my complications this app but it wasn’t offered. So I searched the web to find an Apple Watch face that would support this app. I found a website (not a dexcom website) that showed three different face that work. I tried one called Utility and you can actually select one of the complication as this app. The downside is that it works for awhile then it stops. It shows the word this app or three -. You have to touch that then your watch face goes away and a graph comes up with a number. When you go back to your watch face you either get your number for awhile or get the this app word or three -. Should would be nice if you would get this fixed. It would also be nice that Dexcom would state on their website which watch face the support.
Please allow us to look back on prior days!! I want to be able to go back and look at past daily graphs to compare progress, but currently you can only change the graph to show you up to the past 24 hours and that’s it. Please allow us to look at past days! I also haven’t noticed it giving me “insights” other than telling me I had a spike (obviously) then I can mark that I had a meal beforehand. Nothing ground breaking or insightful there. It took me a bit to realize that if you hold your finger over the graph you can see the individual readings and times, and can move it around to see the different data points, and that I do like.
I have been curious about my glucose levels for quite some time. After purchasing the dexcom sensors, this is Stelo it has you download. It connects to the sensors via Bluetooth and monitors your glucose levels 24-7. This part of Stelo is great! It’s cool to see what happens with your glucose levels during activities and with different things you eat and drink.
Stelo has a great concept allowing you to enter meals by creating events which is a great way to track glucose spikes or drops based on these events. this app even helps with events by syncing your activities with apple health.
However, it is not setup to sync food intake with apple health. I feel this would be a great addition to add the nutrition sync so that one doesn’t have to enter food in multiple apps. I personally keep track of food and water intake in another app with more information than what this app asks for so it would be good to have this app sync nutrition with apple health as well.
I got my meters today. So far, it’s reading about 50 points lower than my finger sticks. I’m hoping it will settle out and get better. Also, when I first installed Stelo , all I could see was my account info—no instructions. I had to uninstall and reinstall Stelo . Then, it worked perfectly. If the readings settle out, I’ll be happy with it.
Update: My readings are much closer to my finger stick meter now. I like that it tells you when you start to spike. You can put a note in Stelo to identify what might be causing the spike.
What I wish it did:
I wish you could ask for a reading or set the time in between readings. Right now, it appears to take readings every 15 minutes. Also, I haven’t been able to see a reading on my Apple Watch. If I touch Stelo icon, it just tells me to check Stelo on my phone. All in all, a good first effort. With some tweaks, it can be awesome. I’m just glad there’s a device for those of us who aren’t insulin dependent.
I use MFP to track macros and it could simply just import the carbs for the events if it allowed the apps to share. This could be a really great app & service with some thoughtful changes.
So far so good. I would highly recommend.
My only suggestion for future improvements would be to allow custom ranges.
I received the this app email and made the purchase right away! Started using it 8/29/2024! Love the product except the dark grey color☹️. Wish it has fun colors🤩
When will this be available on Apple Watch?
When will you have an alert for sensor expiring?
Pretty good a few days in, but like other reviewers the Watch app just tells me to open Stelo on my phone. Appreciate the Apple Health integration.
Stelo is very basic, but works well. It would be great if there were a list view of the data, or a way to export it.
Started using yesterday and I do like the sensor. But Stelo needs a way to generate a report of the readings and events for a selected date range and then export it to a file or at least send to email. Right now o have to manually log some of the readings into a different app to be able to create a report for my doctor.
Stelo works well and the educational info is great. Some features I would like to see: be able to scroll backward or somehow see past days (currently you can’t see back further than 24 hours, so I take screen shots every night); be able to title the events or show all the info in the horizontal display. “Meal” is fine, but “Activity” or “Note” is not enough info to spot trends; include a link or info for those of us who don’t know about Clarity (Dexcoms other app that allows you to access that past data and get reports, although I like the layout of the this app app better).
First time ever using a CGM. Very interesting so far. App guided me well and things are looking good. However, no matter what I try it’s not publishing data to Apple Health 🤨
I’d like to see a widget added so we can view current measurements without having to open Stelo . I’d also like to see an iPad version to at least be able to view/sync the data via the cloud.
This really helps me identify what my body is doing and what I need to change to feel better
Stelo is great for doing what it does right now, and I think there are a lot of potentials on the table if the company wants to pursuit it. Things like making food intake events easier to input by suggesting a carb value (as oppose to leaving it up to the user) and perhaps making suggestions on when to be active or when to eat would be great.
If this device is marketed as a lifestyle/wellness product, I think there could be a lot of potentials.
Very valuable for aligning your eating, drinking, and exercise habits with your blood sugar and weight loss objectives.
Review update: I’m on my third this app continuous blood glucose monitor, and I’ve been able to maintain averages of 80% plus of keeping my blood glucose levels in the “green zone“ and have been hitting in the high 90% range very often. In order to keep my scores high, I have found that minimizing carbohydrates and sugar is essential, eating six smaller meals a day is much better than eating three big meals a day to prevent spikes in my blood sugar, and taking a walk for about 20 minutes after a meal helps minimize blood glucose spikes.
A really great product! I placed my order and it arrived the next day! It was very easy to install the sensor, and app is very easy to use. It was working great for about four days and then suddenly quit working. I received an alert that said the sensor is no longer working, install a new sensor. I tried to reach out to support but realized they do not have a direct phone number. They provide a Bot, for support. After sending the Bot a message that my sensor quit working after only four days (instead of the fifteen days that it is supposed to last), I received an email directing me to fill out a claim form with the pertinent information. It was a simple form and as soon as I sent it, I received a reply saying they would send me a replacement sensor. A terrific response to an otherwise shaky start. I love all of the information they provide about controlling your blood glucose spikes. It is very empowering to have this information. I have already made changes to diet and exercise that are lessening spikes. Great job this app!
Hopefully this bends the diabetes curve by preventing it from happening.
I’ve been waiting on this since I heard about it, and am thrilled to be using it upon its release. iPhone interface is user-friendly and informative, and the integration with Apple Health along with the events log is great to identify correlations of glucose to daily events. Love the idea that the Apple Watch can display data. Will continue to be a consistent user!
I'm so irritated by this company. I didn't realize i had somehow set up auto ship. When i was notified that the auto order had been confirmed, i tried to sign on to their website to cancel. Guess what?! their website was down for 24 hours preventing me from canceling the order. Because their "policy" they do not do refunds of any kind. product worked ok, but I'M SO IRRITATED that because of STELO.com website being down i couldn't cancel my 'auto' ship. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. considering there no refund policy, let me stress this for you. ZERO refunds PERIOD. doesn't matter that you are or are NOT at fault. zero refunds. Screw the customer, that is more of their motto/policy.
