About: The award-winning roguelike-deckbuilder Peglin is finally available on iOS! This
version lets you try it before you buy it with unlimited access to the first
third of the game and a one-time purchase to own the complete game and all
future updates! The dragons have been popping peglins and stealing all of your
gold for as long as you can remember. Enough is enough.

About Peglin

The enemies are tough, and if you're defeated your run is over, but you've got powerful orbs with special effects and incredible relics that influence both your enemies and the physics you'll use to defeat them.

It's time to venture through the woods, conquer the fortress, and delve into the heart of the dragon's lair to take back what's yours and teach those dragons a lesson.

- Collect and upgrade powerful orbs and relics to defeat the monsters and bosses that stand in your way.

- Fight enemies with Pachinko-like gameplay - hit more pegs to do more damage.

The dragons have been popping peglins and stealing all of your gold for as long as you can remember.

Peglin plays like a combination of Peggle and Slay the Spire.

Use crit potions, refresh potions, and bombs wisely.

- Explore a new map every time, with different orbs, enemies, and surprises along the way.

Yes, it’s a free to TRY but PREMIUM game.

Just writing a review to counter all of the people (mostly kids) complaining that the game isn’t free. There are multiple games on Peglin Store where you have to unlock the full game by paying, or in some cases having a Netflix subscription, this isn’t anything new.

The sad part is, I think this is the best possible format for premium games. You get to try it for free, and if you don’t enjoy it, at least you didn’t have to shell out any money for it. There’s a lot of entitled people who didn’t read the in app purchase section, and thought the full game was free. This is a port of a full fledged PC game. Very rarely is that going to be completely free.

Apple should really make a category for games that have a one time purchase to unlock the full game, and make it so that people can’t review those types of games without purchasing them first. Otherwise they get review bombed like this one, even though their model is arguably the most fair way out there and should be praised for it, not ridiculed.

I adore this game but it has some issues to iron out

Game itself 5/5 its fun and simple enough to play anywhere when needed and worth the price for the full game but I have a few issues 1 of which might just be a me thing but I will include it :1: (Me thing) Some of the boards feel like their special little designs don't make for enjoyable boards most notably to me one of the Red Skull encounters in Area 3 with the 4 black holes at the top I feel like my orbs don't have enough power to reach the higher pegs once the lower half is almost gone so I just waste shots and the mini boss just gets lots free hits when I can't do much back :2: The item which limits your shots to four directions doesn't work and only shoots to the bottom right :3: I wish there was a way to see what the effects from orbs do before you purchase them

But other than that great game and hope they continue to work on it and possible implement new stuff in future

Great game on PC, OK game on Mobile

I've been playing this on steam for a long time and so happy to have it on Peglin store. Works great on mac, and no real complaints on ipad either, but for phones I REALLY would have preferred more effort into making things work for mobile, like moving on-screen elements around to make portrait orientation work (e.g. fight on top, upcoming orbs horizontal below that, pegboard below that, fire button below that)... This is a GREAT game for jumping into for a few minutes at a time and can is something you can easily be interrupted during and come back to without issue. Unfortunately the phone port doesn't do enough to highlight that easy to pick up and put down characteristic. It's simply the PC version on a much smaller screen. Great game, plays well enough, but wish they'd have done more specifically for phones.

Enjoyable but needs few small changes

Really unique take on the roguelike genre. Could really use some unlocks or meta progression in between to keep you coming back though. RNG also makes for a pretty unbalanced early game. Would be nice to give the player just a bit more agency rather than having so many games end in the first act depending on luck with which orbs you get.

Also skipping relics should give back some gold value!

Otherwise this game has a lot of potential with future updates, and I’ve had a lot of fun so far!

Ignore the low scores.

This a premium game. An outstanding rougelike that incorporates 2d platforming with pachinko like mechanic. The controls are tight. The game loop is addicting. Music and graphics are retro goodness. It is getting rave reviews on just about every platform.

Please support developers like this. Review bombing a game because you are not bright enough to realize you need to pay to unlock the full game is entitlement at its peak. People who leave reviews like this is why mobile gaming is predatory and full of pay to win freemium nonsense. You get what you pay for.

Apple needs to remove reviews complaining about pricing. Every time we get a premium game someone comes on here and writes about it should be free or is too expensive. We normally get ports at a nice discount. Please stop.

Amazing game

I honestly love this game, after getting past the first third of the game I immediately went ahead to purchase the full version of the game. Love the amount of different orbs and enemies that are in the game. The only thing I wish is that it could have gone in longer. Like an endless mode or something but the achievements and different combinations of relics orbs and starting characters help give a fresh perspective each time. I hope that you guys add more maps, orbs or relics. Maybe even a challenge mode where you can only have a set amount of orbs or an endless mode maybe. Hope to see more updates!

Give it a shot!

This is one of the best games you can get on the AppStore. Single player, offline, and extremely fun! The game is technically still in early access, but the amount of content being added frequently is astonishing. While the price of the full game is about 10 dollars, you can try it for free to see if it’s up your alley. The game is pretty balanced and offers multiple different synergies to make sure you get a different experience every time you boot it up. Although the updates come slightly later than the steam version, the game lost virtually nothing when it was ported to mobile.

Bad timing!

Definitely not the best week to release this game. Roundguard released at the same time and IMO is a much better version of this exact game experience. (Even though it’s a slap in the face to Apple Arcade users since RG was taken from there)
One issue I kept facing though was when trying to aim I would accidentally click the trash can and it would discard my current ammo. Happened a few times. Either move the 🗑️ to the top or bottom corner or allow players to click the can and remove the item they discarded accidentally (or after clicking trash have a pop up that asks “do you want to discard this item”) bc this is something that can ruin a long run.

Peglin

Some of these reviews are disastrous. Yes it costs money. But also $8.99 is a steal for this game. Could the text size be a little bigger? Are there a few bugs that need to be fixed? Yeah probably. But the game isn't even version 1.0 yet and the developer spent the time and energy to port the game to mobile for us to enjoy anyway. And that's the main point. It's an enjoyable game. It's a good, learn as you go, surprise filled game that keeps you coming back for more. It's more than worth it if you enjoy games with skill, strategy, and a bit of luck.

The TRIAL is FREE

This is a full Steam game. I don't know why people are angry that the full game is NOT FREE. A little bit of scrolling down would tell you it costs $9 to unlock the full game.
What you download at first is just a trial, not the full game. Which I think is great because you're not slammed with ads, micro transactions and such. Instead you have the option to just pay one time and that's it.
The game itself is great and does not deserve to be review bombed like this just because people are dumb, entitled and lack basic reading skills.

More please!

This game is very good and I love everything about it. I appreciate the pricing model, letting us try a good amount of the game before buying and keeping it add free is awesome! I love the game itself as well, I’ve cleared through a few time and am looking forward to playing much much more! I do wish there were more areas to explore but hopefully that can be added in the future. Otherwise I just wanted to say that this game combines two of my favorite genres with an awesome art style so keep up the good work!

Buggy port of a great game

this app is a great game on PC and a favorite pass time of mine. However, this buggy port isn't great for first timers.
Scrolling in the map is just broken. You can scroll up or try to scroll down and go up instead. Aiming is somehow even worse because there is no way to fine-toon a shot. Orbs get skipped for no reason. The UI is broken to the point that if you don't already know all the orbs, it's going to be a rough playthrough.

This all said, I'm glad to see this app on iOS and look forward to bug fixes and updates.

One nit pick but really good

Please remember my cruciball choice. I can’t tell you the number of runs I’ve abandoned because I don’t wanna deal with the stupid rocks! This wasn’t really a problem on PC because I could quickly restart but on iOS it takes SO LONG! Anyway, that’s my minor pet peeve.

This game is really charming and while it doesn’t quite fit on my phone screen, I really enjoy playing it wherever I want. Definitely worth the Purchase even if the desktop version is probably the better experience.

Will This Be Optimized?

Just started it up and am enjoying thus far (only played two games) but I’ve got to wonder why this isn’t full screen for iPhone 14. Will this be updated soon? And also, during gameplay the white bar at the bottom of all modern iPhones stays on (the bar you swipe up to close apps and whatnot). In all other games, this disappears after a couple of seconds. It just takes away from the ambience. Lastly, Bramball is written in a green that is unreadable against the backdrop. Most are small issues but if resolved, I’m definitely purchasing.

Great game

I am absolutely obsessed with this game! It's so amazing how each time I play the same levels, it feels like a completely new experience. This game has become my ultimate favorite at the moment. However, I do have one small suggestion. It would be great to have a save point, maybe not after every level, but at least after defeating a castle. It can be a bit frustrating having to start all the way from the beginning each time.

Roguelike pachinko

Fun game that mixes pachinko gameplay with roguelike features. Each run is varied enough to keep me coming back because you get different orbs to drop. I enjoy the gameplay and the dev has been updating like crazy making the game more and more enjoyable. One change I would like to see is to aiming the ball drop, it would be nice to be able to not sim where I press but instead be able to move the aim from anywhere (similar to Roundguard)

So it’s a rip off of Peggle basically

Like the title says. The main gameplay here is a direct rip off of the PopCap game Peggle. It’s surprising this was allowed. It’s as if I came out with a game called DotMan and had a little Green character that had to go around a maze and collect dots to get a high score. Yes there are some different elements here such as attacking your enemies but the main way to do that is by playing Peggle to power yourself up for attacks. I’m shocked that this has been allowed. If the developer even said that they where inspired by Peggle I could give them some leeway but instead they act as if it’s an idea they just always wanted. Shameful.

Love it but

I have had a lot of fun on this game playing the first level over and over and I’m on the border of buying the IAP because of how good it is but it doesn’t say what all the full unlock entails besides saying full game. Is the 8.99 purchase gonna come with a lot of content or is it more like an extra level here and one character? Other than that I’ve been glued to my screen learning all of the different equipment and ammo, great variety!

10/10

When this game first came out on PC, I saw the Youtuber Aliensrock playing it. I had watch almost all of his videos on this game at the point of this review. When i saw this game appear on Peglin store, I knew I had to get it. While i wasn’t expecting to pay to get the full version, i bought it anyways because i know good games don’t come cheap. I just unlocked cruciball level 10. can’t wait for more updates to come and see how this game can expand.

Fun Game, would definitely need some Port QoL improvements but fully playable.

(Note that I’m playing on the 1.0 launch release.)
Go play this app. TL;DR, it’s a rouge like Peggle game, and it’s very addictive.

Just beat the demo, and honestly it had all of the features I was expecting out of the game to be ported over. Some issues I do have are the fact that you can’t hold and release to aim then shoot , and also that the shot arc isn’t matched to the finger, and this becomes apparent with a Apple Pencil. Other then those 2 things and that a 4:3 (and maybe Vertical) mode to fill a iPad screen (and iPhone in vertical, as that screen is smaller, and the Ui may not be suited to the iPhone as much), and that’s it.

Just play this app, oh and if you would rather use a computer, it’s available on steam.

Mobile port needs work

I want this game to work on mobile. I got into rougelikes within the past two years and this app has been one of my favorites on desktop. So with them porting it to mobile I have been really excited for the potential. Yet, it has fallen short. Specifically, controls on mobile are awful. I would like to aim without my fat finger taking up all the space when I need a precise shot. Secondly, yet not as important, is the size of everything on mobile. The UI sizes are great for a desktop game, however I have to squint to see things on mobile.

I will still be coming back when new updates drop to see if things change, but I will not be paying for the full version on mobile until it becomes a better experience.

Fun game locked behind paywall

Very fun game even though I only got to play the first level sadly its locked behind a paywall I understand the whole demo it out so people can try it before buying it but like At least for me its hard to justify spending money on a mobile game again not crapping on the game play or anything just speaking my mind if your able to spend money on mobile games i highly recommend this game its very enjoyable with a lot of potential to do just about any builds it seems. Thats the only reason im giving a 3 star and not a 5 star.
